I was a volunteer fireman/EMT while going to college (long time ago as I am retired). We had an American La France 80 boom-snorkel truck. I was one of 12 student that lived at station upstairs. The University Of Idaho in Moscow. Built the Kibby dome. . It looked like a half a soup can on its side with 180 feet to the under of the ceiling. We had a sales demonstration inside the dome for the air filled stunt/rescue bags which are inflated with smoke evac fans. The boom was at 60 feet and I was one of six to have an opportunity to jump. The procedure was to jump out and kick your feet in front of you and fall back first . When I jump and fell back first my mind freaked out as it id not natural to fall back first. My heart hit at 180 BPM. I had no sensation of hitting anything or stopping. It was an unique opportunity that one doesn't repeat. The one you bid on was an aerial basket. The truck did not have its own pump, that I could see. You would need another pumper truck that would supply 750 to 1200 GPM at 40-80 PSI. Water supply would be a big problem.

So most if not all of those snorkels were not designed to pump their own water that’s why it has no pump. They were designed to have a line run to them from a pumper truck to supply them water. Hope you guys have a great harvest.

Love you videos..just a tip. When your have the height use a long chain to lift stuff like that final drive out..it's much easier to figure out the "side" pull..As well as that a long chain does not drop much when it swings. I know you have holes in end of forks so it's good work practice to use them as a slip stop. A good habit might just stop a unwanted slip off one day that leads to a breakage or injury. We all need to end the day uninjured. Liked your track removal. Usually a block of wood or similar jambed under green track and driven around the sprocket will squeeze all the grease off. I would be surprised if there is not a hole you can put a bar thru to stop the idler blowing out again. Have fun guys.
Planting question....if you see a rock up ahead do you stop for it? What is the minimum sized rock that you would stop planting for to pick up? Also, ever find arrow heads in the fields?
I had a big half dead elm tree between my neighbor and where I was building a new pole barn, So I hired a tree crew to top, cut in sections and take it down. You need 41 inch pipes about 16 inches long get this size started up and move that track forward and replace a pipe on every tooth on the belt and it was slide right off of the idler that easy
Make sure it has a good pump, most have been service tested so look for the sticker on the pump panel. That Ford has a 3208 cat, top speed 50. With a real fire pump you can pump as much pressure on that firehose to blast that mud across the street.

20:10 .9375 (15/16th) - .945 (24mm) No Chet they are not the same and you would corner the 15/16th nuts with the 24mm. Wrong sockets break knuckles and fingers. We ran a business for more than 30 years. We had one accident in that time that required hospital care when a clamp broke on a conveyor and went through an employee's hand. Work place safety is a critical part of any operation. Stupid little things are the ones that get by and cause the most damage. Like a wrong sized sockets.
Next time you take the track off the skid steer leave the bucket on and take the greese plug out and have someone hop in an tilt the bucket all the way down with a block of wood against the bottom of the bucket and the front sprocket and then curl it all of the way out and it makes your track so loose that you can just slide it off
I drove a Snorkel, exactly like that, many years ago. Like many departments, we hung onto it, way too long. We called it the Klingon Cruiser!

If your looking for a fire truck you will need a pump on it. Most ladder trucks do not have there own pump. Hope you guys get everything cleaned up from the Strom. By the way was a firefighter for 19 years so if you need any information let me know.
Glad you guys are all ok how's toby
Say it ain't so BS! No more grape after this year?😫
Great video Chet, appreciate you posting with all you've got going on!
Be safe!
Dougo..... Hope spring gets here fast! This video was funny as all get out. Hope all is well with the storms that ripped thru there.
I couldn't imagine you guys having a fire truck on the farm , but if you could find one with a pump on it what a blast that would be .
I started driving a ol Ford SD. Flat nose. We had a couple different models
Most of those never had a pump, the nozzle under the basket it to protect the people in the basket from heat or flame,
Next time you take the track off the skid steer leave the bucket on and take the greese plug out and have someone hop in an tilt the bucket all the way down with a block of wood against the bottom of the bucket and the front sprocket and then curl it all of the way out and it makes your track so loose that you can just slide it off
Thank you guys
You can use the ladder and bucket to fix the bin site.....
A farm near us re built an old fire truck as there service truck, it looks pretty sweet.
The yellow ladder truck came originally out of Indianapolis,IN. Pike Township Fire Department.
truck would be great service truck, lots of potential for welder, compressor, tools, overhaul anything!!!!
There is a company in Texas that refurbish drives for bobcat way cheaper than new.
That fire truck water way in the lift as you call it is designed to be pumped into from a 5" supply line at 100psi max
