i see blue’s release of sadness as a form of manipulation. blue acts as though no one has felt loss as great as hers and uses it to (literally and physically) manipulate others. lapis’s line is a break in that, saying i’ve gone through pain as well, i’m not going to be twisted into pitying you so you can (again, literally and physically) harm me.
Swordbird98 And also Lapis knew that the Crystal Gems forgive her,so she is ready do forgive herself, but Blue Diamond still feels the sorrow and can't see past what happened!!
I agree. She just means that she is not letting sorrow and pity control her. She is telling blue diamond to suck it up and see how yellow and a lot of other gems are suffering too
I respect your opinion, but I didn't read Lapis' line as comparing and brushing off Blue Diamonds grief as lesser, I took Blue Diamond's power to be representative of someone using their own sorrow as leverage against others, like how in real life someone uses being miserable to deflect people telling them their actions are harmful, and consequently make others miserable with them, it's an abusive pattern I can personally relate to, so when Lapis said "I've felt worse" I didn't think it was dismissive of Blue's Sorrow because Lapis was simply refusing to let Blue use her sorrow as a weapon against her, when Lapis is going through her own problems. It's okay if others don't feel that way, it's just what I took away from the scene. As for Pearl and Garnet, it could be the powers still affected them so strongly despite their own struggles ( aside from just every one experiencing things differently )is because the source of grief comes from the loss of Pink/Rose which is something they also have experienced and also has recently been brought back up to the surface what with Pink's revel. Sorry this is so long, and I hope I don't come across as dismissive or disrespectful.
I never thought it was her comparing herself to Blue(although that's definitely an interesting way to look at it)....But that Blue was trying to make Lapis feel utterly overcome with grief and sorrow in general-not pushing her own sorrow and memories onto Lapis
Disagreeing =/= dismissive/ disrespectful. If we're going to turn this into about mental health how people deal with it, I'm def going to agree with you. BD has suffered a lot of grief, but why dismiss Lapis's experiences? And, I don't care if did completely dismiss BD, because she has her own problems, and people need to take care of themselves, first. She also had a different issue. I agree with the theory that BD sharing grief with the CG's is why it affected them more. Lapis isn't the only one that didn't fall so hard to BD's power. I feel like people forget that a Zircon at the trail also wasn't flooded by her grief. I feel like BD's powers represent emotional manipulation, and people farther from the person's situation aren't going to be as swayed as the people that were directly involved, or can relate. Also, at some point Pearl, Ruby, Sapphire, Bismuth, and Péridot were all directly loyal to the diamonds. We don't know what Lapis's role was is that society. We also don't know how old she is, so maybe a possible lack of bonding to the submission of the diamond authority has affected how much Lapis would be impacted - between the time we was created and the time was was put into the mirror. Additionally, maybe she sent long enough in that mirror to be traumatized out of such deep loyalty. Really, there's a number of things that could be going on here, but I take Lapis's response to BD as "You're problem aren't worse than mine and I'm not going to let you manipulate me."
Can you really blame Lapis for being emotionally numb? She was literally broken, imprisoned, and tossed aside for thousands of years/ at least as long as Blue had been suffering.
@@ellaevans7822 and we're just going to ignore the fact that Lapis fealt threatened by Jasper and it looked like Jasper wanted to kill someone? Lapis is used to being trapped. She used it to her advantage. Jasper may have ended up as a victim but that doesn't excuse what she did to get herself in that situation.
Ella Evans She stooped jasper from hurting the crystal gems and Steven. She did them a favour. Sure it wasn’t the best way around it but she doesn’t deserve to be labelled a horrible character
You're missing the point that Blue was weaponizing her sorrow. She wasn't looking for sympathy. She was looking for revenge. Once she does that, Lapis has every right to throw her own resilience in the face of Blue. And she isn't wrong considering she literally stands under the weight of it. If anything undoes that moment, it's that she falls so quickly in battle after that. Really sucks the wind (or water) out of it.
Mike Williams she might use it to her advantage but she also makes others cry even when she isn’t trying to. Think she had 3 people. The other diamonds were here only company. We can knock off white because she is the overestimating tiger mom. Even yellow is never really fully supporting her ever. So she basically has 1 and half people that care about her. Then that one is gone. Imagine losing 2/3rds of the people that love you and that you love. Then go to where it happened and face the people who did it. She still is not justified in her actions but just think on this.
Lapis was poofed, cracked, tortured, then forgotten about inside another's gem for thousands of years only to then force another gem into a fusion hundreds of miles underwater only to regret it. I'd say thats almost as much stress
Oh, and because of her regret and sheet terror of the Diamonds, she took her and Peri's house (expecting her to come along I might add) to flee to the moon so she wouldn't be trapped again or worse, shattered. She did expect Peridot to join her, but when she refused, Lapis basically resigned herself to being completely alone again just so she wouldn't be branded a trator and killed. Though is was an infinately shorter time, it was only more bitter since she could see everything everyone was doing, their happiness and Social lives. (Prob why she came back to save them btw) we saw when Steven was on his Moon Base that Lapis was utterly petrified at the mere mention of a possiblity that that the Diamonds could return!
Yendysear Hold on, she wasn't the one that was being abused in Malachite, she was the abuser. Remember what she said on the boat? I don't condone it, though i think it was her venting about all the isolation and torture she went through. From the boat episode it did look like she felt guilty about it.
When I heard what Lapis said I just went “GOOOOOD DAMN LAPIS GONNA DESTROY BLUE!” Because I took “I’ve felt worse.” as “you can’t hurt me- no one can anymore.” Or something along those lines.
When Lapis said she had felt worse I didn't take it as her brushing off Blue's feelings. I thought she meant how she has time and time again been trapped in situations where she never lives for herself. Like when she first introduced as the mirror gem or how she forced herself to be in a toxic and forced fusion with Jasper to protect her first real friend. Lapis always tried to put herself first and help others at the same time, but I think she also knew that she has to choose between her needs and everyone else's needs. It's like she hates that she for once tried to look after herself and stopped putting everyone else before her. I've always noticed a constant theme in SU where the characters stop living for themselves and try to dedicate their lives to another being or person. Like how Pearl really believed that she was nothing without Rose Quartz/Pink Diamond. Ex: "Who am I now in this world without her? Petty and dull with the nerve to doubt her," as she said in It's Over Isn't It. Or how when Peridot loses her height enhancements and when she sees how most gems have powers she questions her worth to gem society and the crystal gems. And even the way Connie wonders how can a human like her help the crystal gems and the way Lars and Sadie wondered if the were good enough for one another. To me, Steven Universe has always been a show demonstrating that with enough self love and dedication and courage you can be strong not only for others but for yourself. And I think Lapis as well as Pearl are excellent representations of that.
I really like Lapis because she is unique but I kind of think she meant those words with a sting. She has been through hell and back but I wouldn't say she is as selfless as you thin. When she found out about the possible Diamond attack on Earth I don't blame her for leaving because she didn't want more fighting but she did still ditch her friends
inkstorms I’d LOVE that but I think it’s rather unlikely considering it was Pearl’s gem she was trapped in for so long. Maybe they can use that though for a positive start
I took the line as a, “you’ve got problems? Cool, so do I.” Lapis has been through so much that she’s felt what blue is feeling and a lot more. Everyone has problems and Lapis is able to ignore Blue’s power because of what she’s been through.
You can't compare Lapis to Pearl or Garnet because they were never alone throughout their problems. Yes Pearl's dilemas may seem worse at a glance but she had people who loved her around her same goes for Garnet. Lapis was caught in the crossfire of a conflict unrelated to her, left to rot by her own kind for five thousand years after they squeezed every last bit of usefulness from her. Upon returning she was not greeted kindly but instead as a prisoner and again for what she could be used, this including the whole Malachite issue. It's not about what the problems were it's the fact that she felt alone in the face of all of them which can maginify them quite drastically.
“Hi I lost a loved one and had plenty of people who could help me move one” “Hi I was trapped in a mirror for almost my entire life then I was stuck under water for a couple months, I had no friends and wished I was dead”
Lazy Bear but.... lapis chose to be stuck under water...... she didn’t need to fuse with Jasper and hangs on to her angst. She’s just a big entitled douche bag
@@whomth She wasn't holdingon to her Angst , You're right she chose to be stuck underwater, With someone she hated, but She did it for Steven, Like when a Wife decides to stay with an abusive husband "For the Kids". It wasnt Angst, I think it was love
@@jasperaw She just liked abusing Jasper and taking out her emotions on Jasper. She could have easily refused the proposal but tricked Jasper and used it as an opportunity to treat Jasper like a punching bag. There's honestly nothing selfless about anything she did with Jasper. She just wanted to feel some form of catharsis.
Don't agree with that AT ALL. The point is not about who 'has it worse' and who you should feel bad about. Blue uses her sorrow as a weapon against the others. She's trying to psychologically torture them through her sorrow. For me, it was incredibly powerfull. Lapis gets a lot of hate, because she bails, but she's obviously suffering from PTSD (detachment, panic attacks, paranoia, bursts of rage...). She's been through SO MUCH sorrow, that Blue can't hurt her anymore. She's too detached and scarred. The other Chrystal Gems aren't trying to be sympathetic to Blue. The didn't make the choice to feel her pain. Blue forces them. So it almost sounds like you're saying the message should be that you're supposed to feel sympathetic to everyone, even when they're using it to hurt you on purpose. No, you're not responsible for other people's feelings. You should be sympathetic when you want to be, not because someone forces you to. That's emotional blackmail, like in abusive relationships. When someone says they'll kill themselves if you leave them, it's not your responsibility to take care of that.
Yeah, a key factor is the fact that we don't quite know how her power 'works', and my guess it it's something along the lines of vibrating her raw emotions to every gem around, but not necessarily the subtext or the reasons. Lapis has gone through so much torment, some of it self-inflicted, that she's able to 'take the stress test' of this level of burden. He says "it's not a matter of might", but it kind of 'is', this is actually the emotional equivalent of an arm wrestling contest.
Thank you for pointing that out there was no way in hell I would of managed to say anything you just mentioned in your comment because of the fact that what I might say may not make any sense and or isn't true, but the comments are based on someone's opinions so that's understandable. I agree with you.
Iknow its not your responsibility when you find someone trys to commite suicide but you still have to help him/her just because it's not your responsibility doesn't mean you have to avoid people commiting suicide thats a big sin
@@mathewcarlsardon4342 Yes, you help them if they are a friend or someone who isn't using it as a threat to you. Having been in an emotionally abusive relationship such as the OC referenced, I left. I cut contact. If they killed themselves because I left I didn't want to know, I didn't care to know, and I could care less if they did. For 13 years of my life I've suffered from depression, alcoholism, and self harm. From 13 to 26 and I still am struggling with alcoholism and struggling to find the best meds for me. Ive changed a lot for the better. The relationship in question lasted from 19 to 23. She knew I had my mental issues and she manipulated me using them. Im almost positive she had her own struggles but I took the brunt of them. I had to deal with mine and she would throw hers onto me too. I was in a state of mind where I couldn't take being alone and honestly probably would have killed myself without SOMEONE, and she was all I had even though she was mentally abusive. Whenever she could tell I was doubting being with her she would always throw the line out. "If you leave me I'll kill myself". This added even MORE to what I was carrying. My own issues, hers, and the worry, guilt, sorrow and even deeper hate for myself. I was afraid. These were the worst years of my life and the only years in which I physically harmed myself. She caused me to and she knew it, but didn't let up or care for me all. It was compleatly toxic and manipulative and gross. Eventually I hit an all time low, got plastered one night and left. Nothing left to live for at that point. Waking up hungover without her there felt freeing. I had my own burdens still but I didn't have the emotional blackmail and manipulation with me. She didn't deserve anything from me. I don't know where she is, if she's alive or not. And I don't care. If someone threatens to kill themselves if you leave thats plain toxic and emotionally abusive. You leave and cut contact. Its not your problem or fault at all if they do. Its SOO wrong to hold emotional and mental issues as leverage over someone.
I took Lapis Lazuli's line not so much as "brushing off Blue Diamond's grief" but more so "Oh, you're sad that you lost a loved one? I lost countless due to a war I had no part in AND was falsely imprisoned for about as long as you lost Pink Diamond AND...I learned how to get passed it...." So, she wasn't belittling Blue Diamond's grief but showing hers "felt worse" to her AND she was able to overcome it. I imagine (if she weren't her enemy at the time), Lapis would respect Blue's pain....but, her pain didn't matter at this moment. What mattered was winning and Lapis was demonstrating how she knew how to fight through her pain.
LeoP2008 But she didn’t overcome it. The last time we saw her, her trauma was still going strong. Just listen to the lyrics of That Distant Shore, it’s made very apparent that she is still deeply affected by the things that happened to her and Steven offered her help to work it out more than once and she rejected it every time because she was „too traumatized“. So unless we do get to see a flashback of the moment she decided to return, that’s another off screen Lapis character moment. Throw it on the pile, it’s not like we ever needed to see how she ended up with Jasper and Peridot, how Peridot abused her in a way that justifies her behavior in Barn Mates, why she decided to stay on Earth after the whole Malachite thing when she already said goodbye to Steven or a build up/effect of anything that developed during her time at the barn anyway. I‘m always waiting for an episode that tackles those things, but I don’t think it’s ever going to come at this point.
THANK YOU MAN. I swear slice's opinions are so clouded by his prejudice against lapiz he can't understand what and why lapiz was written in the scene that way. and it made sense, just like Pink being Rose , which of course SLice of otaku was wrong about.
IKR! Like why are there sooo many things that apparently happen, but just not on screen? Things that when left out make Lapis seem like some weird, underdeveloped, savage wanna be instead of the on screen portrayal she deserves--in my humble opinion.
I think you’re making it too simple. You’re making it because she might’ve felt worse pain, somehow other peoples’ pain doesn’t matter. She didn’t say blue Diamonds’ pain wasn’t real or didn’t matter, she showed that it doesn’t cripple her because she ‘feels’ she’s dealt with worse. That’s a pretty BIG difference. As for if that’s true or not, let’s look at the ‘pains’ experienced. Blue Diamond feels guilt over the loss of a loved one, that she feels she could’ve prevented. I’m not sure whether to count this as losing a sibling or a child, but obviously it’s an immediate relative sort of thing, and meant to be one of those losses you don’t really ever move on from. While I get that, she doesn’t stop functioning, she still does other stuff in her life, she’s still a gem matriarch. She might be different than she used to be, but she’s not stopped from other parts of her life. She’s emotional yes, but she still gives orders, interacts with other Diamonds, travels around, she still lives, even if the quality of that living is diminished. Lapis on the other hand is obviously suffering from some sort of PTSD, but it’s a little more complicated than that, because ‘why’ is she suffering that? Well, she was imprisoned in a mirror, while cracked mind you, during a war she didn’t want to fight, for thousands of years. She likened this to torture, and not only yearned for homeworld, but for her freedom and healing. While Blue Diamond was able to be in mourning for those years, Lapis was being tortured for the same amount. She not only lost her purpose or was damaged, she was ripped from her life, turned into an object, and essentially tortured as a slave to the crystal gems for thousands of years. She didn’t feel like she lost a sibling or child, but she got to feel the degradation and humiliation of losing herself, of everything she was, everything she had, being torn away and tossed to the wind. As a gem designed to fly free and terraform worlds to help other gems, and considering how powerful that actually makes her, in her mind, that might be worse. Also consider, gems weren’t made/taught to care about one another like that, they’re made to serve Diamonds and serve all gemkind, she might not have the best concept of losing a ‘sibling’ or a ‘child’, by the time she faces Blue, she’s only developed what a ‘friend’ really is. So, who has it ‘worse’? That’s not a clear cut thing to say, but one has been in mourning for thousands of years, while the other was tortured for thousands of years. One lost someone important to them and had to continue on with their life regardless, while other had their life ripped away and was forced into slavery. One of them was in emotional pain only, while the other was physically damaged as well as emotionally in pain. But I think the overall point of the line ‘I’ve felt worse’ was that to Lapis, she had felt worse. Blue Diamonds’ pain was real, but what Lapis had to deal with, was worse to HER. What you’re not bothering to ask or wonder, is Lapis capable of feeling what Blue felt for Pink with other gems, or is it too foreign to her? You’re not asking could Blue handle what Lapis went through, being cracked and imprisoned in a mirror, humiliated and turned into a slave for thousands of years? You’re so focused on Lapis somehow dismissing everyone else, you’re not wondering if she could be ‘right’? Could any of the other gems have gone through what she did and come out the other side as well? Or better? Seems like there should be a lot more taken into account for those things, but for someone that doesn’t ‘hate’ Lapis, you never have any trouble making things as black and white as you can, or over simplifying things to make it short and sweet, huh?
OMG Thank you! THIS COMMENT IS GREATER THAN ANYTHING ! Wow well said well put. This is an argument, well thought out. SLice's basically sat down and tried to pull all the unnecessary things to make Lapiz more significant step to recovering seem insignificant as he always does, his prejudice to lapiz clearly clouds his judgement and he is simply not capable of being fair or balanced. Lapiz can't do anything good in slice's eyes
I mean I agree with you, but, at the same time, I don't really think that she was trying to be rude, necessarily. I really think that she was just trying to be strong. She shows signs of severe trauma that real people in real life go through and saying things like that ("I've felt worse") that may seem belittling or rude to someone else can mean progress for the person saying it, no matter how potentially screwed up and flawed that can be. But I see what you're saying about the lack of repercussions and such. But, you know, the series isn't over yet...
Lapis was dehumanized into an object for millenia, she was cast away of her rights as a living being reduced to a freaking mirror, always waiting for the day she would be free once more not even knowing if that day would come. No one cared about her as a person execpt steven. Blue always had her pearl and Yellow as shoulders to cry on. Lapis was alone for all that time seeing everything go on without her while she was still there but no one cared to even consider letting her out
Honestly I really hate how people are so dismissive of Lapis and also label her as Abusive. Which not only wipes away any part of her being victim, but limits the amount of growth she’s truly had.
How does it wipe away her being a victim? The overwhelming majority of abusers have been abused themselves. It's where they got it from. What she did to Jasper was wrong and so was what everyone did to her. She was biting back in an emotional fury and while what she did was wrong, it's still symbolic of an abusive relationship in fusion form. Hell, Jasper came back to HER inspite of Lapis keeping her at the BOTTOM OF THE OCEAN THE WHOLE TIME! Obviously their fusion was super fucked up. I thought that was kinda the point.
+William Stark that’s often what abusers do-beg their victims to take them back in hopes of holding that power over their heads again. Lapis had the courage and strength to say no. Jasper was the abuser in that relationship, not lapis. Take it from someone who’s been abused their entire life.
brian brush what do you mean what did they do to her?!? they new she was trapped in the mirror and they kept her in there, they basically held her hostage
William Stark as if jasper didnt abuse lapis back, also were not gonna brush off everything that jasper did to everyone from splitting garnet, headbutting steven to faint, keeping all of them as prisoners in the ship, almost scratching steven to half, collecting and showing what we see is abuse to corrupted monsters, belittling amethyst and calling her a runt and criticizing her badly trying to pin in amethyst's head as imperfect and she should be just like jasper and the worst part trying to shatter amethyst on purpose with no regrets... Wow jasper is justified(note the sarcasm)
While I agree with what Otaku said, I don't think that Lapis' line was meant to take away the depth of what Blue Diamond went through, I think it moreso amplifies how much trauma Lapis had endured. It's not just that Lapis was entrapped within a mirror but she was tortured and all this. So, it makes me think "what the hell did she go through, that Blue Diamond's powers barely fazed her?"
She was afraid of the diamonds, but when they arrived, she realized that she would be more afraid of losing Steven and Peridot. Also, she may just value the pain from her own experience more than ones that aren't genuine from her (After all, Pearl and Garnet would have at least sympathized with blue having known her someone closely before.)
I just think you really belittle what Lapis went through. You build up everything blue diamond lost and I mean blue lost a child that’s horrific in so many ways, but even though we don’t know the specifics of what Lapis lost, what we know is she lost everything. Any family, friends, status, and then she was TORTURED for ages, left in physical pain, broken and trapped. Blue has her Pearl, Yellow, her entire kingdom to help her heal, but instead she wallows in it and worse forces her pain onto others. You fault all that time Lapis spent in the barn slowly healing with Peridot’s help but then say she’s turned around too quickly I mean idk what you want here. Lapis got triggered the last time we saw here there’s no doubting that, but what this line and episode shows is that power Lapis is displaying here isn’t that she’s invulnerable to sadness it’s that she’s learned to embrace her sadness, acknowledge it, come to terms with it, and go on anyway. She doesn’t have to push it onto others like she did with Jasper or like Blue was doing, she can use her own sadness to help others and fight through more pain than most people can. All that she went through prepared her to be the one to save the day and yeah the line could have been worded better, but the feeling was there it’s not that she’s felt worse pain on a quantifiable level, it’s that she’s been THROUGH worse, she’s made it passed worse and that past experience has given her the power to face them and withstand this attack now.
What he is saying is you can say someone's feeling of sorrows is greater or less than someone else's. Sure lapis may have gone through worst, but that doesn't mean blues feelings of sorrow are less than hers.
@@jayce8196 bloody feather never said that blues emotional trauma is smaller than lapis's. Their saying how blue had so many people to comfort her and help her heal from that trauma, but blue decided that she would just wallow because of the past and not listen to anyone, there was a whole song YD sang about moving on. While lapis who has been through so much has accepted the past healed from the trauma and has moved on, unlike blue. plus blue uses her emotional pain as a weapon making others feel her pain, so basically a way for gems to pity her. (Sorry if there is punctuation/Grammar errors)
I think Lapis saying "I've been through worse" isn't directed to belittle Blue Diamonds grief. Just shows the extent of how she felt being mistreated and criminalized for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time and suffering for millennia because of mistaken identity.
Given what we know Lapis has been through, I can understand her not being utterly crushed by the weight of Blue's grief. Personally I think Lapis is totally justified in feeling that she's had a worse past than Blue. She's not totally unaffected though (we see her fighting back tears), and I think that this does not belittle Blue's grief and in fact makes it look stronger: even after everything that Lapis has experienced, the grief that Blue feels is enough to make Lapis (nearly) cry.
I feel like what Lapis meant was that she learned how to DEAL with worse-- which would make sense, seeing how badly Blue Diamond is still taking Pink's death.
I feel like lapis easily had it the worst then anyone else in the series so her trauma and how hard it is for her to change is overlooked. She has felt worse than loss of a loved one. Blue diamond lost 1 person she loved. The war took EVERYONE all the other gems loved. And after a 1000 years she should have progressed. Lapis lost loved ones in the war like everyone else and she was imprisoned for a millennia. And unlike bismuth she was conscious for every moment listening to the crystal gems living there best life. Lapis taking longer to them a few months to "get over" a over a thousand years of torture than all the other characters where most of their damage happened a thousand years ago is just not something people pay attention to
@@sebastianhardy4304 Spinel? Do you think Spinel would cry? The only few times she cried was when she was having mental breakdowns.. She may be emotionally unstable but would she cry?
@@josephinamungaray6118 If she had any attachments at all to any gems from her old life, it's safe to say she lost them. When she was freed from the mirror, she had no one but her captors. Even after breaking free of Earth.
I find whenever people talk about lapis they never consider what lapis had to go through in her past that would warrant her behaving the way she does. Lapis saying she’s felt worse implies that she’s been through worse, and when you break it down she 100% has. I can only assume people latch onto pearl and blue diamonds sorrows because they’re more relatable. More people know what it is to lose a loved one than they know the sort of issues lapis represents, so they assume it’s just lapis being cool and don’t read into it. Nothing could be worse than betrayal and losing a loved one right? Wrong. Let’s walk through lapis’ experiences together since people have such a hard time with it. Firstly she was in a war, so were most of the gem cast but hat can’t be easy. Then she was captured, her whole world was taken from her and she was interrogated. Freedom of speech was ripped from her, she became a living tool, and when she was no longer useful she was thrown away by her own people. Then she was found by the crystal gems who knew she was in there but decided she was better left as a tool and kept her isolated and imprisoned. I know gems aren’t people but extended isolation makes humans lose their minds so keep that in mind. Then she finally gets a friend, who lets her go, that she finds out is friends with the people who did that to her so she can’t be with him. Cut to her healing and leaving for homeworld, she returns to be interrogated once again and dragged back to earth, the place she associates with so much pain. Then she traps herself in an abusive relationship under the sea with jasper slowly losing her mind and being consumed. From here things get a little better, she’s saved by Steven and after some trust issues begins to enjoy life, but it’s life governed by fear and anxiety. So...yea that’s worse than losing a loved one. She was a slave for most of her life. How she felt, what she wanted, did not matter. She had no support, no one cared about her. She fixated on her freedom because to her that’s something she’s chased her whole life. Even when she has it she’s so used to chasing it she feels she still has to run. That’s not easy to overcome. I can’t imagine the turmoil she’s gone through, but I think that’s the problem. People can’t imagine it, and so it doesn’t resonate with them like losing a loved one does.
I agree pluse i think she was more worried about losing the only place she belongs then blue diamonds feelings of grief you know fight now cry later type of thing
I think the point is that she shouldn't have compared it and the show shouldn't have compared it. Both situations are bad, but Lapis kinda coming right out and saying "yeah well mine was worse" really rubbed me the wrong way. Personally I think the pain of your daughter being murdered is worse than the pain of being imprisoned for a good chunk of your life. I can concede that it's a debatable issue and everything, but the whole thing kinda had that ugly vibe of "oh (insert trauma here) happened to you? you think THAT's bad? try being ME" which, ya know, if you've ever been on the receiving end of those kinds of comments (I'm sure most people have,) it's a very very insulting and belittling feeling of dismissal and erasure. It also felt inappropriate to me to compare what Pearl or Bismuth went through to Lapis....they were also hit by blue's psychic sorrow and crumpled. Why? Why was Lapis the only one who could still stand? I'd have plenty reason to argue that Pearl and Bismuth's stories are more painful than Lapis' story. And maybe it's all a matter of opinion, because different things effect different people in larger or smaller ways, but yeah they shouldn't have compared traumas, bottom line (not to mention Lapis' entire character up to this point has been angst. She's been the most 2D character in the show, everything to do with her just revolves around her angst. It's gotta stop man, no other character in SU is that flat.)
lapis has been abused and used for thousands of years. Shes faced the entire wrath of homeworld because they mistook her for a crystal gem. She was stuck in an abusive fusion fighting and fighting sacrificeing herself to save them from jasper. Shes been mentally broken and even her gem was cracked. Losing a loved one is very very hard and i understand that. But when you compare it to everything lapis has experienced. She has felt worse
I think the point was not ha ha I’ve felt worse than you your pain means nothing compared to mine, but a fact that Blue was using her emotions to purposely hurt others and lapis has already been through that and won’t be abused again.
@SliceofOtaku ((Tl;Dr: She isn't trying to be a badass she's just uber depressed and can handle the feels.)) Honestly I disagree. > I don't feel like she is purposely comparing or trying to belittle Blue Diamonds feelings. I found it heart-breaking when she stood, almost unaffected. It goes to show how blue Lapis truly is; how much she suffered in the mirror for so so long, as part of the fusion Malachite, and during her self-inflicted isolation on the moon. It makes me sad to think about how horribly sad she must have felt, and how alone she's almost always been. > Even though Blue D is understandably depressed after losing Pink, she still has her gems, presumably her planets, and Yellow D to keep her company. She has a support system, and although her sorrow is immeasurable to most of the crystal gems, Lapis is able to fight whilst being overcome by Blue D's emotions. It shows how much Lapis can take and why she is always so on-edge and/or apathetic. > I feel like people forget that she was stuck in that mirror since before Pink was "shattered". Being trapped without any reason for thousands of years and used as essentially a slave to all who got their hands on the mirror. Lapis has only just found Steven and the Crystal crew and has not been able to truly feel connected to them (in my mind) because of this betrayal she suffered when she was not a rebel in the beginning, but punished and enslaved as if she was. Her relationship with Jasper as Malachite, was a way for her to gain control of her situation and try to do the right thing, and yet she was yet again trapped and almost lost herself within the fusion. Her rejection of Peri seemed cruel, but she did it because she was afraid and was not used to having loyal friends, or a healthy relationship. Everyone makes mistakes and although I'm not trying to validate some of the things she's done that may have come across as insensitive, her underlying strength is there and I really don't think it's simply about her looking "cool", more likely she is constantly suffering internally and unable (or unwilling) to reveal it. > Anyway I doubt you'll read this but if you do, maybe it will help you see her from someone else's perspective. I really don't think what she said was aimed at being malicious, more a shocking reveal of how depressed she truly feels. I have a lot of empathy for Lapis. So even though I know you don't LOATHE her, I feel a need to defend her a bit because I really don't think she (or the writers) intended that line to come across as invalidating Blue D's feelings. And I don't think they're implying that people can go "oh i have it worse than you" or anything. Just that she has suffered so much, and that the level of emotion Blue D inflicts on the others is something she has learnt to bare whilst still functioning. *** note: I really hope that if they intend to drag out the suspense about what happens on homeworld, that they don't just show peri and lapis re-forming as a lazy filler ep, but instead really give us a few beautiful episodes revealing Lapis on the moon by herself and her journey emotionally and physically back to earth and her comrades. And also her revelations about Bismuth poofing her in the war. (I always assumed it was our Bismuth that did it) I also really hope that when Peri and Lapis re-form, they come back with some noticeable changes like maybe they finally have a star or something to REPRESENT! their inclusion in the Crystal Gems?? Just a thought. ANYWAY THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL VIDEO. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. Even when I don't agree I still value your insights. x ((edited because i can't spell lapis lazuli right oops))
Wow. That's really all I can say, I'm not good with judging people's feelings and intentions so I'm just glad you managed to say all of this and point things out from your perspective. And yes they did get their stars.
Honestly, Lapis has felt worse. BD lost her family essentially with Pink but Lapis was imprisoned for thousands of years. _Thousands._ No anything but to be forced to be nothing more than a inanimate object to be discarded. How would you feel after coming out of something like that? I bet you'd feel worse than just merely losing a loved one. BD is sensitive to those feelings, but Lapis had her life broken. You can't honestly say that Lapis is brushing off BD's feelings when Lapis is telling the truth.
But did you see Spinel? 😂 she was told not to move from a spot by the only person she knew, and also her friend, for like 7 thousand years or smthing, only finding out that that friend has moved on and left her behind. That’s also longer then when Lapis was trapped as a mirror :P
I mean Lapis WAS in an "I Have No Mouth, and I Must Scream" sitation for who knows how many millennia. I'd say that's a bit worse than the death of loved one.
András Fogarasi I guess but that time lapis spent in the mirror blue was grieving. Blue is also in a position where she can’t show her feelings whenever she wants. She also has to suck it up and fight a war against the gems that her loved one created not to mention the stress that comes with ruling and maintaining multiple planets. Lapis has felt a lot of emotional trauma but she also has gotten loads of chances for recovery that blue couldn’t have.
That one Person you know the person But...blue DIDNT suck it up. She was always quite blatant about her feelings and already got her revenge years ago.
do u wana hav a bad tom Ughhh what? She was fine shattering and killing en masse not giving a rats ass if they had loved ones or feelings. I have lost loved ones but I don't use that to play im the only one who's life sucks
I’ve viewed several of your videos and I do get a sense that you are a Lapis and Rose hater, judging them so harshly for having flaws yet accepting of characters like Jasper who I find very uninteresting as an antagonist, she to me was just a typical bully and loyal soldier completely devoted to her leader but totally uninterested with the values the crystal gems were fighting for and was just following orders to eliminate them and that blind loyalty got her to fuse with a corrupted gem only to get infected herself and refused help from Steven. Also lots of downplaying on Lapis’ hardships, sure loss of a loved one is very difficult but you don’t think false imprisonent for thousands of years is not traumatic? Then the supposed good guys didn’t free her either and now since she is friends with Steven she should just be cool with the Crystal Gems? Why did one of your faves Sapphire with her clairvoyance not see that Lapis was innocent and save her for thousands of years?
Peter Kang THANK YOU!!!! Everyone was disregarding blue diamonds feelings and trying to save themselves and why is this biased jerk hating her for trying to save her friends??
Lapis is just a character, and a very underdeveloped one at that. People are allowed to hate her if they want, especially if they have good reason to. Which they do.
Kipekee Reddington just like how you and Otaku have your opinions I and others that feel opposite are valid too. My main point is just because the majority of those that follow this channel are an echo chamber and all just agree and take that as a sense of being “right” is just being arrogant for being subjective. Lapis may not have had much development to the level you or Otaku want but the pace is ultimately up to the creators and won’t ever move in your direction unless you are willing to add something to the series to “fix it” he implies is needed but saying vague things like the story was way to predictable but not make a suggestion as to how Otaku would address the weak writing honesty comes off as being pompous to me like any other “critic” it’s easy to judge it’s way harder to be original and create something
There’s one HUGE problem with this theory: Blue Diamond’s power isn’t to share her sadness with others; it’s simply to make them cry. She doesn’t override their emotions, simply forcing them to do something commonly associated with sadness(crying). Steven was crying Blue’s tears in the episode “Steven’s Dream” upon waking up at the beginning of the episode, and immediately afterwards explains that his dream *wasn’t* a sad one. He wasn’t sad, but he was crying. That’s Blue Diamond’s power. This is even more apparent after having watched the episodes that come after Reunited, but the observation could’ve still been made beforehand.
Lapis was trapped in a mirror and left for thousands of years without any movement or contact with anyone. Once she was freed she didn’t even have a minute before having to feel like she had to defend herself. She was a cracked gem and wanted to go home. Once she was fixed and got to home world, she was put straight to work on another mission to where she was just freed from. Only to create a toxic fusion with jasper and sitting at the bottom of the ocean, using its weight to hold her and jasper down for the sake of Steven. She said she didn’t want to be anyone’s prisoner, but she was ultimately saving the crystal gems. And after being afraid of the punishment she’d face for trapping jasper and fighting against the rubies, or at least trapping them in water, she realized she would be shattered or imprisoned, and became a full crystal gem. She’s a great character and has been emotionally traumatized far beyond what is shown on screen
Dude, that's in her character, you literally find everything wrong with her character and you never actually praise her. She's cold-hearted and views life negatively because of how life has treated her. Everyone deal with life differently so to say ones pain is greater than someone else is a bit selfish, BUT THATS HOW SHE IS. She wasn't trying to put aside Blue's emotions, that was a way of showing her moving past her sadness and standing her ground, but Blue hasn't suffered as much as Pearl or Garnet have. PERIODT. I SAID WHAT I SAID. CHANGE MY MIND.
I disagree the idea that this is a "bad takeaway". Blue Diamond was literally weaponizing her own sorrows to burden others. Lapis standing up to that despite all her pain and suffering? Is amazing. It shows her progress, and how much she's moved on from the pain she's felt. ...Actually, I want to make a video myself about this, now, and the wonderful implications it has. I should rewatch the episode a few times first, though.
Not to mention there's a chance she could've instead taken blue's side due to relating to her but no, she took the better route and called blue out on her bs
Exactly! She could have been all "woe is me" like Blue is being, like Lapis HAD been like before, but no- she's ...at least, in my opinion, pushing forward and trying to move past her trauma and grief. Something BD isn't doing (and will probably never have to now due to the whole Steven/Pink thing) Instead she basically did "No, I've experienced suffering just as bad as yours, if not worse, but I'M not making others suffer because of it, now am I?" (and it's a good contrast too because last we saw her she was running from her problems but now she's facing up to her biggest fears and overcoming them, all the while standing up to those very fears because they're not as impressive as she thought and she's DONE running away) I relate to Lapis heavily though, so maybe I'm just viewing myself in her, a bit, too. ////
I believe that when the portray lapis in this way they are referring to her many many years of being trapped and enslaved for others use in that mirror. She saw almost everything in the war and was forced to replay every single moment. When they portray her in that manner it makes sense that blue diamond, who has only been mourning one person for less time than lapis was shattered, would have no effect on lapis who as she states, has been through "much worse". I don't think that the show was trying to force the fact that lapis was saying, "suck it up I've felt way worse than you and I'm fine" but rather her being immune to blues powers because of the fact that she's gone through that before. The other gems who have never felt as much sorrow as any of the two characters were powerless to this new feeling of complete grief, while lapis was immune due to her having experienced worse in a sense that she has learned to function with it.
That makes a lot of sense! (If we want to get technical it could also imply that blue can make other gems feel only as sad she herself has felt before, but i favor the more realistic psychological explanations)
There is one thing i think people miss saying lapis’s redemption was rushed. They are on the beach, in the area she has been watching. She saw the joy in the wedding, she would have been projecting it with her. Yes, she flew away from the moon but she already told us she keeps being drawn back. I think she probably came back to the moon pretty soon. Lapis has been watching them for probably weeks now. Sharing in joy and sadness, she got their only a few minutes after the diamonds, she knew they were their, she dropped a barn on them. She came BECAUSE they were there. She was with them all in spirit during the wedding and before. Projecting the ceremony and wedding preparations before. Who knows what else she watched, she admitted to it being spying. She realized, when she was probably going to loose it all, that her regret would not go away if she did not TRY to help save it. “What if something good happens” do you think that after that she would have had the heart to fully leave earth? What good would she miss?
She has been through worse. She lost Everything. Her entire vein for existence. Which personifies the episode can't go back. Because she can't go back. Anywhere. Unless she wants to be treated as a Traitor/Prisoner. Blue Diamond has lose 1 person close to her. While lapis has lost everything. And the first thing the crystal gems wanna do when she gets out the mirror is bubble her.
Kitsune Zakuro I'd like to preach it too, but bc of personally experiences, I think Lapis's line is alright. I personally saw it as" I wont let your problems manipulate me so i'd feel bad for you" Which is a kinda toxic thing ppl do, by making others feel terrible for them. Thats my two cents tho
I always thought the reason why lapis said “I’ve felt worse.” Is not because she was disregarding blue diamonds feelings, but saying that she’s been through so much pain emotionally, that she’s basically immune to blue diamond spread of sadness P.s why would she even care that much about blue diamonds feelings, considering it won’t change the fact that she’s trying to shatter all the people that ever truly cared about lapis. In that case, blue diamond is being insensitive too???
Remember what she was put through ever since the War: she was poofed and placed within a mirror, mistaken for a Rebel by her own Court and unlike Bismuth who was put on 'pause' while inside of her Bubble inside of Lions' dimension; Lapis was conscious for thousands of years: unable to act or speak without external input to playback beyond Steven who talked with her as an individual instead of an object. Then after getting free and seeking to go home again, was captured by Peridot and taken back to Earth where she didn't want to go back to. Then while there, Lapis was forced to fuse with Jasper to beat the Crystal Gems only to betray Jasper and trap them both beneath the ocean for Months, remaining conscious all that time in order to keep Jasper trapped. Then when Malachite is defeated and Lapis unfuses and meets up with Steven again and agrees to live on Earth as a measure of peace and solace... she finds out that Petidot is there as well, and is somehow good like the snap of a finger, Lapis is filled with anger and rage over what Peridot first did to her months ago and doesn't want to forgive her for it, like Ruby when Pearl tricked to form Sardonyx, Lapis just wants to feel angry and to make sure that Peridot would understand how mad she really is at all of this. When Lapis slowly begins to forgive Peridot and go on an outing with Steven and Greg, Lapis is still trying to get over what happened to her as Malachite but is unable to truly forget the toxicity Jasper put her through, until Jasper stood right before them both that Lapis finally confronted Jasper at last. Then the whole issues with the Barn, Steven heading into space to save Greg, Navy tricking Peridot, Steven and Lapis by pretending to be well-adjusted to Earth just to break Stevens' heart for satisfaction while stealing back her ship, Steven giving himself up to stand trial before the Dismonds and faved with the heavy possibility that the Diamonds would return to Earth should they figure out he got off of Homeworld, and finally a sense of longing to be back on Earth to be with Peridot again. Throughout all of this, Lapis had probably closed herself off to emotions when they don't involve Steven because they are painful to recall, she may not understand WHY Blue Diamond feels the way she does since the Diamonds don't showcase their real emotions except in private and in the presence of their Pearls, and just thinks that Blue Diamond is being petty about all this. Lapis doesn't understand Blue Diamonds' emotions nor does she even want to: Steven is in trouble and that's enough to spring her into action to fight her Diamond.
I wish they could’ve told lapis backstory even more from the start I mean I’m not sure if she knows what’s going on at the time plus she got trapped by the diamonds and got puffed by the rose quarts I think she was doing her job but wasn’t inform about anything idk, dang she is under developed.
I disagree. Blue passed through the lose of a loving one, same as pearl. But lápis dealed with abusive relationship, was abandoned for thousands of years, broken and forgotten in front of her eyes, she felt the worse, she felt impotent. The pain she dealed with, was worse bc was dealed alone, while pearl and blue had family to share.
I still have mixed feelings about Lapis and find it hard to completly see her redeemed following this episode, considering how many times she's run away from conflict due to not wanting to get caught up again.
Her redemption felt extremely fake and rushed, and her lack of character development didn't help. For me it just went "yeh i'm a crystal gem and i'm gonna help you now". That's it... just, rushed.
ツPit That had to do it sometime People always wan to complain every time when lapis leaves (when it’s justified) lapis wants to help omg weren’t you just running Blah blah blah
mcshang482 That was exactly how I felt. One could make the point that in such a dire and critical situation where she could help out the Gems, especially Steven and Peridot who she has shown to care about, she may have found courage to save them. But it was still obviously rushed and hopefully Lapis does show her cowardly behavior when she reforms a little bit. This is a turning point for her character, but it needs to have a few episodes focusing on keeping that development established. Like she might be unsure about going on a mission and Steven or one of the gems could reassure her?
I don't think it's that simple. It's a surprisingly common anxiety response to handle a dangerous situation extremely well and then completely break down as soon as the danger is over. I'm hoping for that sort of reaction because it makes for more realistic character development. So even if she overcame her trauma in that one moment it won't mean its gone or defeated or however.
I think the best thing they can do to "save" the rush in Lapis's development is maybe a concept episode where it focuses just on Lapis while she's poofed. Like, the entire episode takes place within Lapis's gem, where we get to see some of her memories and maybe a narration of her thoughts, especially what she was thinking about and how she was feeling between Can't Go Back and Reunited. Idk I just think that would be really cool and a great way to expand and clarify some points in her previous character development
You are saying “I’ve felt worse” is the worst line because you disagree that Lapis has actually felt worse, and because it’s insensitive to Blue Diamond, it should not have been said. Here’s why I disagree. Blue Diamond has had others to talk to. Yellow Diamond, even though she was mostly saying “suck it up”, she does share in Blue’s pain. Lapis has been trapped all by herself for the same amount of time at no fault of her own. Loneliness hurts too. Also, she knows that the Crystal Gems knew she was there and didn’t help her, making her feel objectified. “Steven, it’s just a tool. It can’t feel anything”. Then she was interrogated against her will, stuck in an abusive relationship, and then felt homeless. I understand that that kind of experience does not make unrelenting grief any less significant, but that’s not the point of the scene. They’re at war, not comforting each other. I do not feel Lapis was belittling Blue’s pain just because she is not letting the pain of grief get to her. Besides, Lapis was crying too. Lapis’ change of heart to wanting to stand up against the diamonds was pretty much a 180 but that is not a strike against Lapis once she is already there. What I mean is I don’t think the writers brought back Lapis for the sake of that line.
When lapis was brought out of the mirror by steven, she was given a chance to talk to someone, someone who cared, who wanted to listen. She got angry and left. But I respect your opinion.
Sparklecitis for like in a year... Blue diamond had comforters for like thousands of years... And even if lapis had comforters you can never change the fact that she knows that she can still be killed by diamonds anytime...
I agree with you Nekotamer15. I'm not sure why people truly think that Lapis is the bad guy here. She was trapped by herself for so long. She had literally no one. Do you know how a person can go crazy from being isolated? Do you know how your mind can break for being alone that long with nothing to do? Even after being brought out, she saved Steven by sacrificing herself into another similar torture (yes torture, can you imagine being awake every second of every day not being able to do anything? Not being able to talk to anyone? You are living a mental torture. Just imagine having to live in four walls with no one else for centuries. ) she had to imprison herself once again and this time to save someone else. She went through that for centuries and people think what? Steven saving her meant she is free from that torture? From that trauma? Yes, when you lose someone, it hurts...but there are people out there who has lost someone, I have lost someone. One day, you have to move on. But to compare that to literally mind breaking torture? After experiencing that for so long, who wants to go back to the same thing? Hasn't she been tortured enough? Yes, Pearl also lost Rose but she gained Steven. Blue lost Pink but she still has Yellow and her pearl. Lapis barely had time out to enjoy her freedom before she was dragged into another war. How can anybody truly compare that? When does Lapis gets her happiness without fear? Who the fuck truly thinks that because Steven came it meant that Lapis should be free from her trauma. People thinking that having Steven in her life means she is free from all trauma must be living in a wonderful bubble.
She literally lost everyone and everything she cared about, including herself, for longer than Blue has lost Pink. For thousands and thousands of years she was used and tormented while concious of her surroundings yet unable to convey her feelings or emotions. She was an object. Then when found to be defective, she was broken and thrown in the trash. After all that time, she regained freedom and then immediately chose to take HERSELF prisoner for months. Then she finally gets her life to herself again and build solid relationships with those around her. After realizing that her old fate could be waiting for her again, she runs and is abandoned emotionally by those she cared about, losing everyone yet again. So yes, she has all the right in the world to say that she has felt worse, because she has. I don't have a clue how anyone could say otherwise.
Yeah. For thousands of years, Blue mourned. But for thousands of years Lapiz was trapped. Unable to cry out or say anything. After that for months she was underwater in constant stress keeping Malachite as bay
Personally, I think it fits her quite well. Yes, Blue has been mourning for 6,000 years. However, Lapis was isolated from society for something that wasn't her fault for 6,000 years. Not only that, but there's the fact that she was trapped in an unbearable, torturous fusion for several months without rest, day and night. Regardless, you had a lot of good points in this video. ✨
(Sorry, I dislike long comments too. Just my opinion.) I feel like Lapiz having stronger will power over Blue Diamond is justified. Lápiz upheld her court to the highest, and for Blue it was Pink she treasured. Lapiz was not only lost to her ranking, but was hated towards as a traitor. Blue did lose Pink, but it’s not like she left with clear cynical hate towards Blue. Also the line, “I’ve felt worse...” was very brutal, but this is the same character who took out her pain on Jasper and has trouble communicating with anyone. I do agree she does need a proper closure to help viewers who do relate to her. Great video, and thanks for always bringing something to talk about to the table.
Falco Lombardi Personally I think the intended message wasn't that her sorrow was greater than Blue's sorrow but that because Lapiz has cried so much she has become numb to Blue's grief
Lapis was Broken for a very long time, stuck in a mirror, all she has known is loneliness. She gets out tries to get home and is captured. She is stuck with Jasper in a horrible fusion to help protect Steven and the Earth once again condemning herself. And she seems to have a real hard time dealing with loneliness and sadness. Her pain to me is very deep very prevalent so when she says "I have felt worse" yes it was a good deliverance and I feel her line really conveys her own loss. True Blue Diamond's loss of Pink was great. But if you think about how it feels to be alone, how it feels to be used and broken I really felt Lapis when she said "Ive felt worse." It drove home how her internal struggle has hurt her deeply. And I truly hope when she reforms she begins to learn she does not have to be on her own anymore.
Why do you hate Lapis so much? She been through so much and you just dismiss that. She’s been a prisoner for thousands of years on a war she didn’t want to fight. She was then used as a slave and rid of her status of a living thing. Then she gets dragged into the ocean along with Jasper where she played both roles of victim and abuser ultimately damaging herself in the process. She is then forced to be with her captor. For a time she finally finds peace with Peridot. But then it’s ripped from her again, this time by her own mind. She clearly isn’t a saint, but you never praise her for any progress she makes. And find Jasper better then her! A character that blindly follows the diamonds and is quite boring. Lapis doesn’t deserve that much hate. She has done some messed up stuff, but almost every character has and that’s the beauty of SU. They all has different ways of healing and coping with pain and in the end with love and determination they can be reached.
I see the "I've felt worse," as more of a "I've experienced worse pain than what you're making me go through," and less of "I've experienced worse pain than you have," Blue wasn't looking for any form of sympathy, or for comfort. She was using her pain as a weapon to weaken the Crystal Gems.
SliceofOtaku I took that line to indicate that ALL GEMS crystal and homeworld have lost extremely close friends and loved ones but Lapis's imprisonment both forced (the mirror) and self-inflicted (fused with Topaz) affected her far more strongly than losing someone close to her.
You thought the fight scene was good? Me and ma boi swaggy thought it didn't feel as important as it should have. I mean, Garnet and Bismuth punching Blue's sleeves...her sleeves? What was that about?
I think it was good in that it really solidifies just how powerless the Crystal Gems really are against the Diamonds. They barely hurt her at all. Steven was the only one who kind of toppled her, but the others could barely do anything. And that made sense to me going into it.
Don’t forget that for Gems, these aren’t clothes. They’re parts of the physical form, parts of their body. So getting hit on the sleeves probably hurts. I also remember how Peridot looked at Pearl’s ribbon “And you look like a fancy one, too”. She was obviously admiring the quality of Pearl’s form. Not her clothing.
I love that she said what she did. It was such a moment of growth for her and the way she stood up to Blue Diamond was surprising to say the least. The Diamonds are so used to feeling as if they're the only ones capable of complex emotions, or more so they're the only ones worthy of acknowledging these feelings and acting upon them. I just feel like this was her way of saying "what I've been put through is just as valid as the mourning you've experienced, my feelings are just as valid as yours" and that is extraordinary character development in my opinion.
I would beg to differ as I relate to Lapis the most. I think her character is for those in the audience who find themselves being shafted by life sometimes. Its easy to get absorbed in our own pain (as blue diamond does), which causes us to spiral down. But as someone who has struggled with depression, I see her line as something else. It means to that our experiences and pain should ultimately grow us a person. That these feeling don't mean we are inferior to those who seem 'to have it all' or those whom happiness comes easy to. But rather these feelings should be a source of strength. In Lapis's case, she has developed a mental toughness (well almost to the point of being jaded). For me, I see my experiences as a point of empathy to others and should be a reason to connect to others not to estrange. Yes you are right that it may seem harsh to BD as she is coping. But I wonder if the show will maybe have a moment between these two to help BD move on (as PD is still 'gone' in a sense).
But who cares if she's being harsh to Blue Diamond is the thing. Blue Diamond was trying to kill them and used her powers to manipulate their emotions. Isn't THAT harsh? Plus, she and the Diamonds are the root cause of most of her suffering. It's not like they ever deserved sympathy. Even if the line was Lapis being harsh deliberlately, Blue Diamond has it coming honestly.
Blue diamond:I lost my sister. Lapis:I lost my friends,my status,my life, got cracked, stuck in a mirror, stuck in the ocean and had only one person I can trust. Blue diamond:I had Yellow,my pearl,an Agate and an entire kindom to help me recover but I forced sadness on myself instead at least TRYING to move on. Lapis:I was stuck in the mirror, treated like an object, not like a person, and when I was finally free,I almost got stuck back there, later,I got stuck in the ocean, fighting all the time, then had to live with someone that jusu used me. Lapis:So yeah,I've felt WORSE.
She was trapped in a mirror for thousands of years with the feeling that shed never escape all she wanted was to be free and she always said that she felt trapped everywhere she went and i feel like thats the worst feeling in the world theres been times in my life where i felt trapped and it sucked it’s the worst feeling in the world to ever feel the feeling like u cant escape that your scared that u cant even control ur own life that you’ll never be free that ur not strong enough to escape i think thats wat she was getting at
I'm sorry I understand your point, but there's something different with lapiz from the rest of the gems you compared. Yes, pearl and garnet might have had WORSE times than lapiz, seeing countless people die, being casted down by society, and keeping a single lie that may drastically change everything. But, let us not forget the thing that sets apart lapiz. She was... Alone. All through her life being emancipated from that mirror, alone; without anyone caring for her, without anyone even regarding her as 'human', for me is by far the worst feeling anyone can get. Not to belittle what pearl and garnet been through, but it was very evident that even with those things that drive these gems down, there are things that would nevertheless make them carry on wuth their life. The 'purpose' of pearl and the 'love' of garnet, and the diamond(s) for blue. Those two even have each other, or the crystal gems, to pat themselves in the back; even more so for blue, which have an entire world to sympathize with her, idk tho not much context yet. For lapiz though? Imagine being alone, doing the things that you didn't want to do, and without anyone caring for you at all! That's probably why she fancies Steven that much, for he was the first one to actually care for her for millennia. Sorry for my grammar, English is not my native language. Thank you for taking time to read this.
Although I don’t agree with everything you’ve said in this video, I do love how you’ve presented your arguments and what you want people to take away from this video. So great video as always :D
I absolutely agree that Lapis experienced the oxymoron that is Sudden Onset Character Development. However, as far as the best worst line goes, I saw it more as Lapis being totally numb, which is something that many PTSD sufferers experience. It's a coping mechanism, and one of the side effects of this coping mechanism is being unable and in some cases unwilling to try to understand what others are feeling. How can you expect to acknowledge the suffering of others if you can't bring yourself to acknowledge your own suffering? This was a part of PTSD that I didn't personally experience all that often because I was somehow magically able to refuse to feel my own feelings while at the same time being overly empathetic to others. To this day, I don't fully understand the mechanics of this, but I can guarantee that it absolutely happened to me.
i think the reason she said she felt worst was because she was trapped in a mirror for thousands of years because they thought she was a crys gem and betrayed
Calm down dude your getting mad over a character that doesn't even know the character everyone is getting sad about no to mention she was kind of trapped in a mirror for thousands of years soooo yeah I think someone she doesn't even know might not make he sad
Finally somebody understands think I’ve always been puzzled that she doesn’t really care about all the years of grieving that blue diamond had to face and also oh that pearl it went through you think she’d have less than an event too
Blue is for sadness so every blue color gem is able to with stand sadness. So Lapis is blue also she's been tortured, abused, forced, stuck in a mirror for years, and more thing we don't even know yet. Think about it.
See I took it as the fact that Blue has been hurting for thousands of years and stores a lot of sorrow up over it but when she weaponizes it it has no affect on Lapis that line I took it more as a reflection of what Lapis has been through than Blue Diamond. Cause it was just to give her a badass moment in the moment but like you said, Pearl, Garnet, Bismuth, Steven, and Pearl who were floored by it all have been through tons of grief and sorrow and pain on screen. I took this as the fact that it says a lot about Lapis. And it may be poorly executed to say that it can be read as "this person is hurting but Oh boo hoo get over it I'm sadder than you." I read it more as for Lapis to be immune to her power out of all the gems it weighs more heavily on everything Lapis might have been through off screen than we'd initially take on face value because all we've seen is the mirror, malachite, and her trying to keep distance between herself and her only two actual "friends" on Earth. Blue feels lonely and is dealing with the heavy emotions of loss and what that line tells me is that up to that point that's kinda all Lapis was just loneliness and despair. This makes it seem like she was basically never truly fully happy even when she may have seemed like it. She was perpetually feeling that way or worse all the time. And it wasn't well executed to treat it like a pissing contest type thing though
I feel like lapis did feel worse. She was betrayed by everyone and put in a mirror where she couldn’t tell them she wasn’t a traitor. Then the real traitors had kept her enslaved there for thousands of years where she was lonely. Then she was forced into a abusive relationship for a long time. Then she had too leave her best new friend peridot. So yeah she had felt worse. All that was like. I’ve understood pain, and this can’t bother me now.
I have been looking forward to a Lapis video for a while now. This is a wonderful video which reached beyond my expectations for you. You’ve made some great points and I was wondering if you noticed in that scene that Connie (a human) who shouldn’t be effected by Blue Diamond was effected the same way as the other Gems I have to admit confused me as well. I would love to hear your opinion on this. I know it’s a little bit but it just caught my eye.
She was trapped in a mirror for over 100 years. She was stuck in an unwanted fusion with someone she despised while fighting a constant battle of will for months at the bottom of the ocean & it almost turned into a terrifyingly abusive relationship. To even entertain the idea that anyone in that scene has felt worse is just ridiculous. Especially considering involuntary fusion is implied to be like rape which means circumstances basically forced her to rape Jasper even though Lapis herself didn't want it either & they both fell into their own kinds of stockholm syndrome.
I find this really interesting. Like you always find things to talk about. And I cant thank you enough to bring this blessing of a channel to our fandom. Stay cool! We love you too!♡ And congrats on 200k! You deserve it!
I'm not trying to make light of her character development here but Lapis has been a prisoner, isolated, abused, entraped by her belief and liberated from it by Steven in a very short amount of time considering the lifespan of Gems in general. While it seems Blue has always had Yellow to keep her in check and often snap her out of it when it becomes really bad. The big surprise for me regarding Lapis in that episode is that she didn't immediately recognize Bismuth and back away from her but maybe we'll get another episode like "The New Crystal Gems" where they explore what happens between Lapis, Peridot, Bismuth and Greg while Steven's on homeworld. Maybe a Lapidot fusion won't be out of the question after all ^.^
reminder: lapis lost her loved ones too?? in fact MORE loved ones?? she watched everyone she loved get shattered/killed during the war while she was trapped and couldnt do anything. not to be one to undermine others pain because pain affects people differently, but lapis went through the same thing and blue and for longer, so tbh,, i think the “i felt worse” isnt to be cool, but its lapis answering blues question. blue wonders why lapis didnt succumb, lapis answered why.
also pearl isnt really traumatized like lapis or blue is??? pearl has no problem talking abt rose half the time so thats clearly completely biased saying shes been through “so much hardship with rose”
So, I feel as if you’re completely overlooking the torture Lapis went through. She was trapped in a mirror by HERSELF!! She was there at the shattering, she was there being labeled to see the future when she could not, she was almost shattered herself, and she was bound to a person she hated for so long and constantly fighting against them. Lapis has also been trapped as a prisoner for Jasper. For all we know, Lapis was trapped for all her life. Yet, during her days of freedom did she loose someone? Did her getting trapped in the mirror some how take away the fact that she can’t talk to that person? Did she have to communicate to that certain person in different ways? Did the person she loved accidentally break her gem? We don’t know her full story. That’s why I liked the sentence so much. We only got her brief history, not all of it.
I mean to be fair I could see why Lapiz could argue "my pain was worst" being conscious inside that mirror for millions of years would essentially be like being in solitary confinement which according to doctors can lead to long-term psychological damage after just a week or two let alone a million years. And then after finally coming out being caged again and again like if someone threw you a bone finally and then pull down the bone from a cable after being hungry for so long. For a person that has felt such trauma she is surprisingly healthy. I mean something to remember is that being inside that mirror is not the same as being bubbled. When you are bubbled you're essentially sleeping but when you are trapped in the mirror you are conscious all the time. Yeah I could see how it could be considered insensitive but then again forcefully performing the equivalent emotional manipulation with magic doesn't sound any better.
What you just said here, is one of the most important sentiments for anyone to ever understand. There is NOT a finite amount of pain in the world. I'm 18, and have had 18 surgeries, live in chronic pain, lost the ability to walk, and I sit with a broken back rod as we speak (and it certainly isn't the first.) But I have the privilege of being surrounded by the best family and friends I could ask for, I live in a good country with wealth and resources, I live in a safe environment, my parents are financially secure, and I have access to one of the best hospitals in the U.S. I've gone for so many years seeing people that have it far "worse" than me, and feeling as though I have absolutely no right to complain. And the conclusion I've come to is simply this: Everyone has their own challenges they have to work with. Some are just more obvious than others. All that really matters is how it affects *You*
Valid point. 😁 I didn't really bring it up because that was necessarily how I interpreted the original line. SliceofOtaku's message is just one that really resonates with me. I don't think that the crew were trying to send that message through the line either. I think the point of Lapis's wording was to both illustrate the extent of her trauma, and to dis Blue Diamond for putting her through it. Also, just to be a really badass quip
well losing someone is hard, but being aprisioned for centuries , finally being free just to be aprisioned again in total dark in the form of a monster using all her powers just to keep her in that state of misery is kinda worse, also pearl could relate with blue pain because it's because of pink/rose, lapis never show any love for pink/rose
Actually, in the context of the episode, Lapis really did nothing wrong. She didn't go to a weeping Blue and say 'get over it'; Blue was literally oppressing everyone else with her 'woe is me' feelings and Lapis didn't fall for it. I'd call that being more self aware than being insensitive.
i see blue’s release of sadness as a form of manipulation.
blue acts as though no one has felt loss as great as hers and uses it to (literally and physically) manipulate others. lapis’s line is a break in that, saying i’ve gone through pain as well, i’m not going to be twisted into pitying you so you can (again, literally and physically) harm me.
Swordbird98 YES FINALLY
@@superman3825 what?
Swordbird98 And also Lapis knew that the Crystal Gems forgive her,so she is ready do forgive herself, but Blue Diamond still feels the sorrow and can't see past what happened!!
I agree. She just means that she is not letting sorrow and pity control her. She is telling blue diamond to suck it up and see how yellow and a lot of other gems are suffering too
I meeeeean you could argue Blue lost her daughter and never got closure...

Oh no. My one weakness. Tiny hands -Garnet
OC070 I completely agree
I never thought it was her comparing herself to Blue(although that's definitely an interesting way to look at it)....But that Blue was trying to make Lapis feel utterly overcome with grief and sorrow in general-not pushing her own sorrow and memories onto Lapis
OC070 PREACH!!!! THANK YOU!!!!
I didn't think about the Crystal Gems falling easier because Blue's pain was about Rose/Pink! :O
Disagreeing =/= dismissive/ disrespectful.
Remember when she was literally chained up?
@@naturescorruptedinfactorie8062 lapis was abusing jasper, she was holding the chains
Shes not dumb bully
A Corner of The Internet THANK YOU!!!!!!
Ye being abused is much worse than grieving a loved one in most cases. Like I've been through both and they're barely comparable.
whoosh
Yendysear
Hold on, she wasn't the one that was being abused in Malachite, she was the abuser. Remember what she said on the boat? I don't condone it, though i think it was her venting about all the isolation and torture she went through. From the boat episode it did look like she felt guilty about it.
When I heard what Lapis said I just went
“GOOOOOD DAMN LAPIS GONNA DESTROY BLUE!”
Because I took “I’ve felt worse.” as “you can’t hurt me- no one can anymore.” Or something along those lines.
Mercat100 That it what is was
YES, that is exactly what I got from that line from Lapis.

My new favourite is “I could’ve lost all my character development” -peridot
I'm hoping to see Lapis's reaction to the "Pink Diamond" situation; as far as we know, she's unaware of it

Lapis is aware. She "stalked" the crystal gems through that super computer in the moon. So she probably knows.

Whomth that is incorrect, lapis fused with jasper so she could save everyone by keeping her at bay. she is super selfless.
Heavily agree with this statement
LeoP2008
But she didn’t overcome it.
Both Leo and Rainpooper has very good points.
IKR! Like why are there sooo many things that apparently happen, but just not on screen? Things that when left out make Lapis seem like some weird, underdeveloped, savage wanna be instead of the on screen portrayal she deserves--in my humble opinion.
Benjamin Edwards You've been watching too much Roundtable.

William Stark What do you mean "what everyone did to her" what did the other crystal gems do?
+William Stark that’s often what abusers do-beg their victims to take them back in hopes of holding that power over their heads again. Lapis had the courage and strength to say no. Jasper was the abuser in that relationship, not lapis. Take it from someone who’s been abused their entire life.
brian brush
what do you mean what did they do to her?!? they new she was trapped in the mirror and they kept her in there, they basically held her hostage
I agree
Add the fact that lapis's life is threatened by death in the hands of the diamonds til her comeback
Slice makes a Lapis video.
This is gonna be interesting.
Niklas Universe
Jasper Redemption
Niklas Universe also making a video without mentioning jasper, impressive.
Well put, I totally agree
What he is saying is you can say someone's feeling of sorrows is greater or less than someone else's. Sure lapis may have gone through worst, but that doesn't mean blues feelings of sorrow are less than hers.
You're AMAZING.
Past*
But yeah, I completely agree with you.

Chri Elise pink is not dead lol
To Blue, Pink was dead until the truth came out.
I feel like Lapis was saying, "I'm already broken, you cant break me any more"
broooo T^T thats too saddd
I feel like lapis easily had it the worst then anyone else in the series so her trauma and how hard it is for her to change is overlooked. She has felt worse than loss of a loved one. Blue diamond lost 1 person she loved. The war took EVERYONE all the other gems loved. And after a 1000 years she should have progressed. Lapis lost loved ones in the war like everyone else and she was imprisoned for a millennia. And unlike bismuth she was conscious for every moment listening to the crystal gems living there best life. Lapis taking longer to them a few months to "get over" a over a thousand years of torture than all the other characters where most of their damage happened a thousand years ago is just not something people pay attention to
For real she easy had it worst
@@sebastianhardy4304 Spinel? Do you think Spinel would cry? The only few times she cried was when she was having mental breakdowns.. She may be emotionally unstable but would she cry?
How do you know Lapis lost loved ones in the war? The crystal gems are the ones that lost thousands of friends in the war.
I think Pink Diamond had it worse than Lapis Lazuli. Pink Diamond was abused for thousands of yrs by the Diamonds.
Soals i agree plus wasnt she a slave for almost as long as Blue has been grieving?
CHARA DA KILLA Longer
It's gotta stop man, no other character in SU is that flat.)
no.
lapis has been abused and used for thousands of years.
@SliceofOtaku ((Tl;Dr: She isn't trying to be a badass she's just uber depressed and can handle the feels.))
Honestly I disagree.
Even when I don't agree I still value your insights. x

You can't honestly say that Lapis is brushing off BD's feelings when Lapis is telling the truth.
not to mention the months she spent forcing down a hate-filled fusion on the bottom of the ocean
@@sapphirex6156 To protect Steven
But did you see Spinel? 😂 she was told not to move from a spot by the only person she knew, and also her friend, for like 7 thousand years or smthing, only finding out that that friend has moved on and left her behind. That’s also longer then when Lapis was trapped as a mirror :P
@@ReaLRazzy Eh, I mean, that was on her.
That isn't worse than losing a loved one. Don't ever belittle the feeling of losing a loved one. There both just as tragic.
do u wana hav a bad tom Ughhh what? She was fine shattering and killing en masse not giving a rats ass if they had loved ones or feelings. I have lost loved ones but I don't use that to play im the only one who's life sucks
brian brush I never said that her grief excuses her for what she did to countless other races and other gems now did I?
I love jasper. I still disagree with otaku that she is somehow justified
Peter Kang THANK YOU!!!! Everyone was disregarding blue diamonds feelings and trying to save themselves and why is this biased jerk hating her for trying to save her friends??
Hackie PPG IKR
When you’re already so depressed that BD’s aura doesn’t even do anything
it made her cried but she toughed it out.
That’s my secret Steven...I’m always depressed
Then why would just crying incapacitate them
I don't think the line was dismissive of Blue's feelings. I think it was her way of saying that she wouldn't back down from this fight.
Also, she literally has felt wore, it is not merely a badass line.
Carlos Gonzalez yeah she's so amazing basically for forcing someone to stay in a fusion
Tradcon Cutie fuck jasper
Yeah fuck Jasper in this instance. She tried killing Steven and the others (several times) and tried to use Lapis for her own ends.
Tradcon Cutie Wanna know the first person to feel bad for jasper was? Lapis
CHANGE MY MIND.

brian brush I'm mostly trolling here, since TC seemed to be getting triggered
my favorite line is
*I want to know what she thinks we’re going to do to her, because I want to do something worse*- Blue Diamond
Something BD isn't doing (and will probably never have to now due to the whole Steven/Pink thing)
Instead she basically did "No, I've experienced suffering just as bad as yours, if not worse, but I'M not making others suffer because of it, now am I?" (and it's a good contrast too because last we saw her she was running from her problems but now she's facing up to her biggest fears and overcoming them, all the while standing up to those very fears because they're not as impressive as she thought and she's DONE running away)
I relate to Lapis heavily though, so maybe I'm just viewing myself in her, a bit, too.
Conner Cushman cracked but yes this is exactly what I think to
That makes a lot of sense!
And the first thing the crystal gems wanna do when she gets out the mirror is bubble her.
but the thing is, Lapis has been trapped in that mirror for thousands of years, and WATCHED THAT SHIT HAPPEN.

I'd like to preach it too, but bc of personally experiences, I think Lapis's line is alright.
I personally saw it as" I wont let your problems manipulate me so i'd feel bad for you"
Which is a kinda toxic thing ppl do, by making others feel terrible for them. Thats my two cents tho
thats true
I really love that take on it! I hadn’t even thought of it like that
I always thought the reason why lapis said “I’ve felt worse.” Is not because she was disregarding blue diamonds feelings, but saying that she’s been through so much pain emotionally, that she’s basically immune to blue diamond spread of sadness
P.s why would she even care that much about blue diamonds feelings, considering it won’t change the fact that she’s trying to shatter all the people that ever truly cared about lapis.
^ ^ ^
ツPit That had to do it sometime
People always wan to complain every time when lapis leaves (when it’s justified) lapis wants to help omg weren’t you just running
Blah blah blah
mcshang482 That was exactly how I felt.
Sparklecitis Thank you!
Sparklecitis for like in a year... Blue diamond had comforters for like thousands of years... And even if lapis had comforters you can never change the fact that she knows that she can still be killed by diamonds anytime...
Alex Darum what?
I always though this line was off as well. I’m glad
you covered this topic!
Sounds kinda like Spinel, but Spinel was there longer
Just my opinion.)
I feel like Lapiz having stronger will power over Blue Diamond is justified.
Falco Lombardi
Personally I think the intended message wasn't that her sorrow was greater than Blue's sorrow but that because Lapiz has cried so much she has become numb to Blue's grief
And being trapped in a mirror for thousands of years is a big grief too
I agree with you
TheFenrisWolf let's not forget that Lapis was also trapped in a fusion too.
TheFenrisWolf And taken as a prisoner by peridot
Kalari C. Damn straight
I see the "I've felt worse," as more of a "I've experienced worse pain than what you're making me go through," and less of "I've experienced worse pain than you have,"
Blue wasn't looking for any form of sympathy, or for comfort.
Wait .... Lapis fused with Topaz ?!?! WHAT 😱
Jasper*
m yeah I made a typo.
Mr Leg you know I'm not trying to because it clear I typed the wrong name RIGHT?
ruste shackleferd *jasper
I still get exited over this line
Same! XD I rewatch reunited all the time JUST to see that line XD
You thought the fight scene was good? Me and ma boi swaggy thought it didn't feel as important as it should have. I mean, Garnet and Bismuth punching Blue's sleeves...her sleeves? What was that about?
nightowl Yeah, the fight scene was pretty bad, possibly one of the worst in the show
I think it was good in that it really solidifies just how powerless the Crystal Gems really are against the Diamonds. They barely hurt her at all. Steven was the only one who kind of toppled her, but the others could barely do anything. And that made sense to me going into it.
Well they where trying to hurt her...and she was guarding her face but other than that I think it was pretty good
Don’t forget that for Gems, these aren’t clothes. They’re parts of the physical form, parts of their body. So getting hit on the sleeves probably hurts.
I also remember how Peridot looked at Pearl’s ribbon “And you look like a fancy one, too”. She was obviously admiring the quality of Pearl’s form. Not her clothing.
djmeagaaim17 I enjoyed a bit of it but it was pretty bad
Nah. Its still "Hey dude, there's nothing *LAME* about seatbelt safety."
Lion felt worse, bro didn't even cry
I love that she said what she did. It was such a moment of growth for her and the way she stood up to Blue Diamond was surprising to say the least. The Diamonds are so used to feeling as if they're the only ones capable of complex emotions, or more so they're the only ones worthy of acknowledging these feelings and acting upon them. I just feel like this was her way of saying "what I've been put through is just as valid as the mourning you've experienced, my feelings are just as valid as yours" and that is extraordinary character development in my opinion.
Honestly slice you and your videos make my day a whole lot better💕
Thomas Anthony Ortiz Preach!!
*Unpopular Opinion... again*
Lapis basically is the sasuke of Steven universe.
Aiko Akuma IKR
Ufh I hate beach City I gotta destroy eet and teh gemz.
Ufh nvm I luv beach City lemme be gem hokage and kil teh hokages
Finally somebody understands think I’ve always been puzzled that she doesn’t really care about all the years of grieving that blue diamond had to face and also oh that pearl it went through you think she’d have less than an event too
I never forgot that line
Lapis: I've felt worse.
Everyone: *OOOOOOOOOHHH!!*
Me: K.
Exactly me
Lol, yep. The edge.
Supposedly that was just an animation error, seeing as she has not been effected any other time
megashadowmew, yes your probably right it was just something that jumped out at me while I was watching the episode.
We haven't seen if Lars had a word with her or she remembered about peridot and steven.
Songbird Fan girl I understand where you are coming from because Connie is a human she shouldn't be affected because she's not a jem
I've.
Felt.
*Worse.*
Aha, Lapis's emotions perfectly describe mine
You suffer all the time but when your friends need you you stand up for them
I find this really interesting. Like you always find things to talk about. And I cant thank you enough to bring this blessing of a channel to our fandom. Stay cool! We love you too!♡
And congrats on 200k!
Maybe a Lapidot fusion won't be out of the question after all ^.^
Only found your channel like a month ago but it's quickly becoming one of my favourite channels!
kitty cat kate same here
Same
Same
blue was literally using her powers to manipulate the gems
reminder: lapis lost her loved ones too?? in fact MORE loved ones?? she watched everyone she loved get shattered/killed during the war while she was trapped and couldnt do anything. not to be one to undermine others pain because pain affects people differently, but lapis went through the same thing and blue and for longer, so tbh,, i think the “i felt worse” isnt to be cool, but its lapis answering blues question. blue wonders why lapis didnt succumb, lapis answered why.
also pearl isnt really traumatized like lapis or blue is??? pearl has no problem talking abt rose half the time so thats clearly completely biased saying shes been through “so much hardship with rose”
You can quantify sorrow and lapis felt more.
she was in the mirror for about 6,000 years actually
All that really matters is how it affects *You*
Mercedes Yes but too blue can't accept anyone else suffers but her. Its not like blue was just minding her own business or anything
Mercedes okay
Mercedes and thanks
Mercedes *virtual hugs*
well losing someone is hard, but being aprisioned for centuries , finally being free just to be aprisioned again in total dark in the form of a monster using all her powers just to keep her in that state of misery is kinda worse, also pearl could relate with blue pain because it's because of pink/rose, lapis never show any love for pink/rose
