Raven Johnson is the rock on this team. She is the most important rebounder on the team as she is the shortest starter, but is 2nd in rebounds this season. She is fearless and fast, but always under control. She always gets the ball out of the backcourt. She is never hesitant with how to distribute the ball. She is deadly with a pass or with driving. She is an excellent shooter. She is tough and disciplined on defense. She's playing like a senior when she is a redshirt sophomore.
Exactly, honestly i can see how all these players earned their ranking . This team is full of elite talent with coaches like Dawn and her staff its a beauty to watch .
Her body control is extremely impressive..i said this against LSU. Raven Johnson is def the glue imo. She stays focused, poised, and never loses composure. Great size amazing footwork and body control.

I sit here watching this game, and it seems like, at about the 5-minute mark of the 3rd quarter the officials took it upon themselves to get South Carolina in the penalty. It's not up to the officials to keep a game close. It's their job to call the game impartially. They hit the Gamecocks with four touch fouls in one possession. Man, that's ridiculous!
I feel UCONN beat itself in this game, not giving SC a test, that the Huskies were never comfortable and confident in this game so all those open and partially-open shots did not fall in because finesse was not there but anxiety and doubt were. It was like they knew with Cardoso away they had a chance in this game but lacked the confidence to believe they really had any chance. 51:54 -- it looks like it should be a foul on Kitts because Bueckers has inside position but .25 speed replay shows Bueckers hooked Kitts' arm so that Kitts could not withdraw her arm. Bueckers tried to frame Kitts!! 😱 But got caught. 😂 Let that be a lesson for organized crime.

You're right! This evolution of new women bb players are coming out a lot stronger and better and Dawn was very smart and collected a lot of them. However, despite this game not being Paige's best she still collected a whopping stat line of 20pts, 5rbs, 3asts 1str and a blk. With that I think Paige is still up there hanging with the best of the best if that's what she can still put up when having a bad game especially after all the injuries she has had. However, all in all Dawn's team as a whole is just so much better than what Uconn had during this game by a landslide. No amount of Paige buckets could've helped them especially if she is having a bad game and the rest of her team (except for Edwards and Shade during this game) can't step up to the plate as well.

First of all SC has an incredible team. However, UCONN let themselves be drawn into that ultra uptempo style of play right from the start which really hurt them. When you have no depth whatsoever you cannot keep up that kind of speed; especially Aliyah was completely gassed after a while cause all she did was playing defense and running up and down, and before she could even get into position someone would already jack up a shot. Nika should have been more assertive in asking for the ball and slowing the game down when needed, cause KK being a freshman lacks the experience to know when to run and when to slow it down. Lastly, UCONN is not playing with confidence. They are intimidated which is very obvious whenever they play a higher ranked opponent.
Stamina .SC is the Androids and everyone else is a z fighter😂..the Androids had unlimited Stamina..so they let you wear yourself out and once your energy is depleted they strike.

The student section shows out for both - absolutely. South Carolina FAMS love their women's basketball program and that includes the students. In fact, the ladies have a higher attendnace average, year to year, than the men. Hopefully, Lamont Paris can turn that around so the CLA fills up for the men too.

Take a look again at the 4:10 mark in the second quarter. PB almost causes serious injury to Lay Fulwiley. Dirty and stupid play. Just look at how she throws up her arm to have teammates pull her up off the floor afterwards. STUPID. PB, how about trying that against Watkins instead?
Um? Idk if you know much about basketball, but that wasn't a "dirty and stupid play" that Paige did at the time you mentioned above for many reasons. The reasons are because what she did there moving in front of Fulwiley and setting herself to than fall after getting bumped is called a charge. That is a well know basketball play to cause a turnover from the opposing team. As, this move does have it's risks on both the players (and maybe more) that can be involved when doing it because of the contact it can produce (big or small). However, it still doesn't make it a bad basketball play. When it is successfully done it can give a great advantage to your team (especially when your team and yourself are struggling offensively, which UConn was). So in all, I doubt Paige intentionally decided on that play to be "dirty" and wanting to hurt Malaysia on purpose. It's just something that can unfortunately happen when you do that move, especially to her (being that the contact can affect her too whether it's done successfully or not), but she took those chances anyways. Which, now disproves the "dirty" play comment and further disproves the "stupid" play comment because at the end of the day she actually got the call, which caused a turnover and an additionally foul. Then later took SC off their game a little bit on the other end of the court, which was enough for her to take advantage of and make that 3 point shot. So, on the contrary it was a very good play on her part that she made for her team at that moment, because all that that had came after it was resulted from just that one last play she made. As for her throwing "her arm to her teammates" when they pulled her up was her just displaying the play she just made to the refs which is a motion the officials make when a charge is called. Yeah I think you are right. Geno is old school and set in his ways. Getting the best athletic players in early years allowed Geno to play them the whole game. Women college basketball has evolved exponentially with best players having optional where to go. Geno don't know how to develop bench players and manager starters time.
She broke team rules and was indefinitely suspended. That's all that was shared. Coaches don't usually air their dirty laundry to the public, especially when dealing with young kids.

Uconns women basketball these days is almost an abomination compared to the days when they had Brianna Stewart. They certainly aren't a threat to go to the final 4. As undersized as Iowa is, they'll certainly go further than Uconn.
You're probably right, UCONN had a great run and I like that now the field is a little more open and there are several teams in the run for the title. The fact that SC on paper had the best team the last 3 seasons but still only came out on top once shows how incredibly hard it is to win it all, let alone to repeat.

Take a look again at the 4:10 mark in the second quarter. PB almost causes serious injury to Lay Fulwiley. Dirty and stupid play. Just look at how she throws up her arm to have teammates pull her up off the floor afterwards. STUPID. PB, how about trying that against Watkins instead?
Um? Idk if you know much about basketball, but that wasn't a "dirty and stupid play" that Paige did at the time you mentioned above for many reasons. The reasons are because what she did there moving in front of Fulwiley and setting herself to than fall after getting bumped is called a charge. That is a well know basketball play to cause a turnover from the opposing team. As, this move does have it's risks on both the players (and maybe more) that can be involved when doing it because of the contact it can produce (big or small). However, it still doesn't make it a bad basketball play. When it is successfully done it can give a great advantage to your team (especially when your team and yourself are struggling offensively, which UConn was). So in all, I doubt Paige intentionally decided on that play to be "dirty" and wanting to hurt Malaysia on purpose. It's just something that can unfortunately happen when you do that move, especially to her (being that the contact can affect her too whether it's done successfully or not), but she took those chances anyways. Which, now disproves the "dirty" play comment and further disproves the "stupid" play comment because at the end of the day she actually got the call, which caused a turnover and an additionally foul. Then later took SC off their game a little bit on the other end of the court, which was enough for her to take advantage of and make that 3 point shot. So, on the contrary it was a very good play on her part that she made for her team at that moment, because all that that had came after it was resulted from just that one last play she made. As for her throwing "her arm to her teammates" when they pulled her up was her just displaying the play she just made to the refs which is a motion the officials make when a charge is called. Yeah I think you are right. Geno is old school and set in his ways. Getting the best athletic players in early years allowed Geno to play them the whole game. Women college basketball has evolved exponentially with best players having optional where to go. Geno don't know how to develop bench players and manager starters time.

The bench has too many injuries and no one he can play that's good enough for this caliber of game. But I agree use the bench to at least give the starters a rest. Problem is SC is at full strength.

Uconns women basketball these days is almost an abomination compared to the days when they had Brianna Stewart. They certainly aren't a threat to go to the final 4. As undersized as Iowa is, they'll certainly go further than Uconn.

You'll get no debate here on that. From what I see it National Championship is South Carolina's to lose this year, Iowa won't beat them this time.
You're probably right, UCONN had a great run and I like that now the field is a little more open and there are several teams in the run for the title. The fact that SC on paper had the best team the last 3 seasons but still only came out on top once shows how incredibly hard it is to win it all, let alone to repeat.

It is wide open, Last year LSU got a gift by Iowa beating South Carolina. I want to see them go through SC this year.
