"THERE WAS A FIREFIGHT!" is to me an iconic line that I can never forget, just like "Is he smart or is he.. (like me?) from Forrest Gump or "Andy Dufresne, who crawled through a river of shit and came out clean on the other side" from Shawshank Redemption. This movie is not up there with the other two, but the line, man, the line is just fucking great. Willem defoe is a tier 1 actor.
This movie is beyond precious to me. It was mine and my brother's favorite and we quoted it all the time to each other. It’s been several years since he passed and every single year on his birthday and death date, I watch this movie.

I'm sorry, but an actor who has been cast in over a hundred-twenty movies is hardly underrated. in several years, he's had seven films come out, and in one year, he was in EIGHT. he's been nominated for the Oscar four times, several Golden Globes, and a bunch of other high level awards. he's one of the most respected actors in the business and all the best want to work with him. he's not underrated by anyone who truly loves film. he moves easily from blockbusters to critically acclaimed to indie darlings and cult classics. he is not a brad pitt or tom cruise - with the kind of pretty that helps land roles. he, like steve buscemi, is all talent. but he is beautiful. there is so much in his face and he uses it! he's neither underrated or under appreciated. he is what ALL real thespians want to be - a working actor. not solely a "movie star," but a real working actor and a master at his craft.

What will really flip y’all’s wig is the fact that Dafoe’s character even survived to the final act was because he was dressed as a woman and Il Duce hit him from behind.
The director, Troy Duffy, was prone to violent outbursts on the set of the movie and would often yell at the cast and crew which got him into trouble more than once.
Have to agree that DaFoe is a fantastic actor. One of the first films I saw him in was Streets of Fire and I highly recommend it. This is a much younger Dafoe, but nonetheless, every single facial expressions still speaks volumes. If you have a chance to react, please do.

As soon as I saw the title I knew you guys were in for a good one, this one's almost made for ya two! You've done this and _Snatch,_ two more I recommend are _Trainspotting_ and _Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels._ All worthy films in this time period/genre/vibe!

This movie is a cult classic and for many good reasons. There's a video where the guy who played Rocko and the director watched this movie on it's 20th anniversary or something like that and revealed some behind the scenes stuff. It's interesting and funny too. Like the cat part, the director didn't tell him there was going to be a loud bang at the table so when the gun went off it was an authentic reaction from him that was perfect.
I absolutely love this movie, it's easily a Top 3 movie and may be my #1 favorite movie, I'm fairly sure I have watched this movie more times than I have seen any other movie. 😋

I so love this movie. Glad you got to it. In the same comedy hitman type genre, I would recommend a couple obscure films. One is The Ref with Denis Leary. It does have Kevin Spacey in it, so I can understand if you may not wish to watch, but it is a good film. Leary is hilarious. Another is Suicide Kings with Christopher Walken.
Still a top 5 all time favorite! U HAVE to go on here or anywhere, to find out how this got made! Only one famous actor, Willem Dafoe. Shot on a shoestring budget, sometimes on credit card money!!. Outrageous violence and funny! Part 2 is ok, not as good. They're still thinking on the final part! Willem plays maybe the most interesting character ever...an almost overtly over the top gay guy, who hates gay guys! One guy is a long time porn star and so is the girl! The Italian boss, played in some other interesting movies. I think the old bar guy really did have a speech impediment, and I think the nuns, really were nuns! The Funny Man, played an absolute fantastic believable character! None of the Catholic churches in the city agreed to filming, because they strongly objected to the movie, it's shot in a Lutheran church! Ewan McGregor was originally offered one of the brothers roles. But went out and partied with writer producer director, troy Duffy. They got into a huge argument about the death penalty ( kinda like the end credits) Troy thought, he's too much of a pussy for this role, and cut him. I bet u Ewan regrets that- missing out on playing an all time beloved movie and character! I have movie posters of them in my house, praying, with guns in hand, reciting the prayer! Yes, he's their dad!

I so love this movie. Glad you got to it. In the same comedy hitman type genre, I would recommend a couple obscure films. One is The Ref with Denis Leary. It does have Kevin Spacey in it, so I can understand if you may not wish to watch, but it is a good film. Leary is hilarious. Another is Suicide Kings with Christopher Walken.
Still a top 5 all time favorite! U HAVE to go on here or anywhere, to find out how this got made! Only one famous actor, Willem Dafoe. Shot on a shoestring budget, sometimes on credit card money!!. Outrageous violence and funny! Part 2 is ok, not as good. They're still thinking on the final part! Willem plays maybe the most interesting character ever...an almost overtly over the top gay guy, who hates gay guys! One guy is a long time porn star and so is the girl! The Italian boss, played in some other interesting movies. I think the old bar guy really did have a speech impediment, and I think the nuns, really were nuns! The Funny Man, played an absolute fantastic believable character!
None of the Catholic churches in the city agreed to filming, because they strongly objected to the movie, it's shot in a Lutheran church! Ewan McGregor was originally offered one of the brothers roles. But went out and partied with writer producer director, troy Duffy. They got into a huge argument about the death penalty ( kinda like the end credits) Troy thought, he's too much of a pussy for this role, and cut him. I bet u Ewan regrets that- missing out on playing an all time beloved movie and character! I have movie posters of them in my house, praying, with guns in hand, reciting the prayer! Yes, he's their dad!

Don't insult the people that the algorithm delivered to your channel. To deliver an ultimatum immediately is ridiculous. That is a sure fire way to extinguish any growth that you may have wished to have.
There's a sequel. I don't think a third movie happened, probably because Norman Reedus got his role on The Walking Dead.

You guys should absolutely check out the Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day!! Don't listen to the haters who say it sucks, it's awesome. It's not as great as the first but it's still good.
