The old couple accepting their imminent death is both sad and “beautiful”. Beautiful because they hugged each other and are with each other in their last moments.
I said the same thing, about beautiful, we all want that kind of love.
Yeah man. I truly hope that if the world ends I can have the chance to be with my kids and family.
That, and they lived a full life together, at least.
I watch that scene and think of me and the Mrs. What would upset me the most, is that I couldn't protect her. All I can imagine is her crying face looking at me, knowing death has arrived, and me, upset and saddened.

Sailors would. Actually, when Krakatau erupted in 1883, a large tsunami in the sea around it almost took a vessel with it, but the captain sailed into it and just made it over before it crested.
What I like about this scene is that it's good to see that not only the protagonist knows what to do. Loads of other people driving straight for the tsunami, and many of them made it.
@@ethancasem8259 it's definitely possible, though not easy, and I don't know if it would actually be doable with a wave that size.
@@ethancasem8259 No, it's not possible. At least not the way it's shown. Yes, before the wave breaks you can EASILY pass right over it (there are videos of visible tsunami waves going under boats before they start to crest, and ships going to Antarctica have to make it through similarly intense waves at times), but the wave would've broken long before it reached the bay. They'd have just been racing toward a churning wall of whitewater that would just run over them.

I’ve experienced two tsunami warning sirens and alerts growing up on the west coast of Canada. That sound is absolutely terrifying and chilling.
When you hear the wether service has issued a tsunami warning for coastal areas and your county is called I feel like you would be like that or oh shit

IMO the scariest part is hearing that emergency tone on the radio, and then that garbled voice giving the tsunami warning. And as soon as it say it, sirens start going off

The policewoman deserves a promotion whether or not she survives. Because she was committed to her duty till the end to help people evacuate and keep the order, and can understand why she has to run with the crowd right before the tsunami wave hits them all

3:38 what would you do? What can you do? The answer to both questions is the same, nothing. Death will arrive withen 15 seconds, the only thing available is to hug your significant other, think about them, how much you love them, how much they loved you, then it comes, the death of you and her, at the same time. At least you can find solice in the fact that neither of you have to wait for the other, it's the only comforting thing in such a tragedy.

I was in Whakatane in NZ in 2016. Backpacking my way around the country whilst drunk and mourning a break up. The tsunami alarm went off like this and I shit my pants. Apparently it’s a frequent test that happens in the town. I didn’t know, and it still gives me nightmares lol.
Amazingly, one day a big tsunami hit a boy and his dad were fishing and they survived by driving over it

I've always kinda wondered, could you survive (or at least be more likely to survive) by covering behind something solid that the water won't be able to move, like the big rock at 3:25? Obviously the water will still go around the object and submerge it, but the brute force of the impact will be avoided.

@@martham6 I guess if you had someone to tie you to it with a very strong rope several times but then you'd also need like a scuba tank to survive breathing because who knows how long you'd be underwater at which point you'd need like 29 minutes and I guess might be survivable then though could still be killed by debris and if you have that much time, you have enough time to get somewhere else.

That, plus that much water would likely just shatter that rock.
The water wouldn't shatter the rock, the overall trick would be to have some strong means of anchoring yourself to the rock and keeping above the water, because you have no idea how long the water will be at that level.
Let me speak. I used to reside near the seashore when a quake hit my home. Given it’s magnitude and how close I was to the ocean, I feared a tsunami this huge would come (Thankfully it didn’t)

As a person who lives in hawai’i I got 4 hours until this waves hits us but I live on mountain so I am good but while this is happening all the coastal regions are gonna be evacuated while the sirens sound all day in fact this is deja vu because that’s exactly what happen in 2011 because of the Japan tsunami and the Alaska scare in 2014!
I remember a Pinterest note where a stone marker was found on a mountainside in Japan. The inscription on it translated to "Do not build below this stone". Some point later there was a major earthquake and tsunami that flooded the region, but the water never went further up the mountain than that marker.

You ever kinda wondered how would it be if it literally happened just like that you know your mind would be all over the place like something you weren’t prepared for how would you instantly react to all of a sudden you know a tsunami happens and in the moment there you were too late or with all that’s happening like would you be taking safety precautions like staying away from any kind of debris or making sure your in a confined space where you won’t drown to death just wonder everything you could possibly do in that instance I feel that whenever I’m watching movies that are like this
