I think the saddest and truest reality of this movie is that if something like this were to ever happen, and only a select few knew about it, yeah maybe something like this scene would play out.
In 2012 I was 10 years old, I didn’t see this movie in 2009, my parents did they said they’ve been predicting the world’s end since forever, but it’s currently 2024 and it still hasn’t happened I think we’re okay, but I seem to remember some of my classmates saying that the world would end in 2012
Well if you think about the transition we've all experienced the last 12 years you could say the world as it once was did end......it hasn't felt the same since at least 2012...
I always felt bad about the little old ladies dying. Sure they were out of their element, but it reminded me of my sweet grandmother, who wasn't a great driver but a sweet old lady. In fact all the innocent people dying was really disturbing. :(
@Frankie2012channel I don't even think they knew how bad it was. They probably figured it was a small earthquake Giving the movie more than two seconds of thought is disturbing. Billions of innocent people died, including children and more elderly, and all of human civilization was washed away Noah style. That can be lost with all the disasters and following one family across the world

earthquakes of magnitude 10 or higher are not possible. The largest earthquake ever recorded was a magnitude 9.5, which occurred in 1960 near Valdivia, Chile.
The magnitude of an earthquake is related to the length of the fault on which it occurs. It's doubtful that there are any fault lines on Earth large enough to release a magnitude 10 earthquake.
The magnitude scale is open-ended, meaning that scientists have not put a limit on how large an earthquake could be. However, there is a limit just from the size of the earth. For example, a magnitude 12 earthquake would require a fault larger than the earth itself.
Fyi, Los Angeles county lies on 11 major active fault lines : Santa Monica fault Palos Verdes fault Newport-Inglewood fault Puente Hills Thrust fault Elysian Park fault Hollywood fault Santa Susana and Sierra Madre fault San Gabriel fault Red Mountain fault San Cayetano fault Cucamonga fault Elysian Park and Puente Hills Thrust crossing through downtown Los Angeles. Biggest earthquake was made by this faults is 1987 Whittier Narrows earthquake with 5.9 Magnitude scale
In all honesty, when they took off on the plane, height was the only thing they should have thought of. Not what this movies shows, obviously over dramatised for the movie. Good I'd hate to see a movie that is totally realistic.

But it's not bad
