I used to think the same but after one Ark I boarded and the violent love making that followed, I have since amended that belief.
The most unrealistic part of this scene is the implication that a member of Congress faces any sort of consequence for their corruption.
Congressmen face consequences all the time. If you actually pay attention to the news you'll hear about congressmen being arrested for taking bribes or molesting a child

Actors used to do more silly films with each other. Now it's less common since the budget requirements are so much higher.
Unions in the film industry have made making fun movies far more difficult.

I know! I really liked seeing just the wall of blue behind the crowd ensuring everyone got up safely and no one was left behind. That none of them tried to make a mad dash before everyone to the ark even though in the movie their lives were in danger.

But what I meant was that if you look at how far the dam is from the subdivision, they had just enough time to get on the ark. No, they probably wouldn't have been able to drive away in their cars. Ironically, this was more like how the older Babylonian version of Noah's Arc went. In that one, Noah basically has a premonition of a flash flood, and has all the boats in his village lashed together beforehand, along with his neighbors and their best livestock. The water comes and wipes out the village, but the villagers are able to rebuild because they all survive.

@ They've found multiple written versions of it, so it was pretty wide spread and likely happened in that capacity. Then add 1000 years of people playing telephone and suddenly you have a guy taking two of every animal on a boat.

The definition of animal is very broad. It’s hard to imagine Noah travelling around the world collecting invertebrates and insects. The sheer biomass involved would overwhelm the ship building technology of the time.

I'm from asheville north carolina. Our dams broke from helene.....towns destroyed and flooded and so many deaths. It's already happened. It was the scariest most humanizing thing to watch cows and hoses and cars with people trapped inside floating down the streets....I've read the Bible back to front. I had the biggest ptsd moment when I remembered what happens in this scene. Didn't even think it would bother me a year later
