I grew up learning life lessons from Fat Albert and Friends in the ‘70s, then laughing endlessly at “Himself” and “The Cosby Show” in the ‘80s before discovering his brilliantly hysterical comedy albums from the ‘60s. Then we find out that he was secretly a monster the whole time. My heart goes out to all of his victims.
The Milli Vanilli guys weren't the masterminds of that scam, their producer (Frank Farian) was. But he never gets mentioned, named and as far as I know escaped any blame.

It was the trail of destruction he left, the lawsuits, the broken promises, the careers he ended, the public insults, the bribing officials, the intimidation campaigns. When the other guys got caught they mostly took their bans and apologised, Armstrong attcked anyone and everyone and that's why when he finally had no way to hide it anymore he's become so hated.

I don't understand how the Dixies got hit so hard for talking shit on bush. A lot of people did and still do.
They called him an insult to the state of texas, and essentially spoke for the entirety of the U.S. to another country about being ashamed of his presidency. But that wasn't necssarily how everyone felt about Bush. It wasn't ok, I'm not calling the band right for saying that. What I'm saying is that a lot of prominent individuals criticized Bush during his presidency, and I'm sure they did it in the public eye. So why were the dixie chix targeted specifically is my question. That's all. Maybe I did miss something.:)

Jeff Schwartz I don't know if you're that stupid or the law is that stupid, but people definitely should not be jailed or executed for sharing their opinions... otherwise half of the people on all sorts of media should be jailed or executed. It does not matter if it's the brink of war or whatever... Jailing people that do not share the same opinions as the ruler is called tyranny.
Rather, I'd argue that it's even more important to share concerns, if you have some, before actual war happens.... Even presidents make mistakes, maybe some of those concerns could make them change their mind.

Winona is a freaking legend. She is totally not like other celebrities, and that’s what I love about her! She’s absolutely amazing and so so inspiring. She’s gorgeous, insanely talented, and has this quirky appearance about her that I totally love. All I can say is...her performance in Stranger Things is PERFECTION, and she’s definitely one of my idols. Even though the shoplifting happening, she still is one of my heroes and the past is in the past. People make mistakes :)

Rose Gleek What they said was not the issue. Plenty of celebrities, including other country musicians, were saying the same and worse. The issue was WHERE they said it. Had they said it at a concert in the US, it likely would have blown over and they would still be charting country hits.
AJ Ketchum Keep in mind about the context too. The US was still reeling from 9/11 with "terror risks" being issued every day on news stations across America. Anything seen as unpatriotic was considered to be very taboo.
Dj BearMetal I have to disagree. Case in point, Sheryl Crow was openly anti-war in 2002-03 and had a hit (Picture with Kid Rock) on the country charts at the same time as the Dixie Chicks comments. She did not lose her standing with Country fans. In fact she even won an award at the CMAs later in 2003.
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill also made anti-Bush comments, yet never fell in the eyes of their fans.
The LOCATION of their comments is the only difference.
