Despite having no real claim to fame aside from her money and looks, she's managed to not only create several projects and products designed to stretch out her fame, she's managed to remain culturally relevant worldwide for the better part of a decade, and she doesn't appear to be slowing down any time soon. I think she is a very smart woman that has made a career of pretending to be dumb.

They utilize their fame to help upkeep diplomatic relationships by being a neutral/party-free factor in politics; they create and support extensive charities (e.g. the Swedish Queen and the Princesses have actual day jobs in different charities) and bring media attention to nature preservation, animal protection, children's rights etc.; many royal men like current Princes William and Harry have served in the army, and many royal women participate in sport tournaments like horseriding on their own merits; and sometimes they have their own jobs: Kate Middleton's family had a well-known business before she married William and Swedish Princess Madeleine's husband still runs his own company in the States.
So yes, while they have become famous just because they were born in the right family, doesn't mean they are "the same" as Paris Hilton or Kim Kardashian who use their fame just to get more money and bling and their faces on different magazine covers. :) And, for the record, I come from a democratic country without royals, nor would I want them in my country, but I feel it's wrong to hate someone just because of their birth right.

Weirdly enough, I'd say Kim is actually the most deserving of the Cardassian girls.
