I’m currently a 36 year old janitor/custodian at a hospital. I’m comfortable here and have my own area to clean and don’t have any human interactions, so it’s really not embarrassing to me. I’m living with my parents and saving a ton of money. It’s an extra bonus that I get to have a relationship with my dad as he’s battling cancer. We never had a relationship and now I can help him out and he’s helping me out. It’s a beautiful thing. Most days I feel like a loser but I’m working on a clothing brand (got an LLC and a logo trademarked) and I’m making a folk acoustic album. ❤

Just so everyone knows, the push for everyone to go to college that went on over the past 30 years had nothing to do with education or preparing for a career. It had everything to do with 1) bringing money into the schools to fund administrative bloat and 2) privatizing the student loan program to make another profit center for Wall Street, making companies like Sally Mae richer. Not just economic, making your own salary, picking your hours, controlling the work, who you work with, etc. The day I learned that working the vast majority of jobs was all about taking advantage of labor to make profit for the owner(s), it became so clear and sickening. I could never consider working for anyone else ever again. I understand how some people choose that path for health insurance or lack of self esteem or self confidence. If you want to work for yourself, it is so easy, that I am turning down business and not advertising after 3 weeks I wish word of mouth would slow down. lol, because after all, I am retired, it is easy to go full time, the work is there, I just don’t want it as badly anymore. Had I known this at 18, before my first bachelors degree, I would never have spent so many years “Learning”. I might start a business and manage it, if I can find the right people.

Unless you're getting a STEM degree or going into a heavily regulated profession, I wouldn't suggest going into something for the sake of knowledge alone. There's never really a return on value; you need hard skills. Trade schools, the military, entrepreneurship, etc. are good options if you have some humility and don't expect instant success. Carefully weigh the tradeoffs, your body or mind may begin to wear out, but get ahead and make investments, contribute to the pension fund, plan for moving into management, and develop some admin skills along the way.

I've said this on this channel many times and other channels. There are plenty of companies you can go to work for that will pay 100% of your college tuition. Just make sure the degree you're getting is what you actually want to do. Also understand it takes time to get your foot in the door in that relative field. Once you do, it also takes time to start building up experience, and making more money. Most people are lazy, and don't understand how everything works, so they blame it on a system, and call it a scam.

The only people who are complaining about a college degree, are those that didn’t do their due diligence in RESEARCHING before spending money or taking out loans.
If they went to a four year college, lived on campus, and obtained a liberal arts degree 📜 then of course they are mad. Of course they are not able to obtain employment.
My career path I chose to invest in , provides a good life. When I apply to a job , I’m called back usually the next day or by the end of the week. When I accept job offers , I can negotiate my salary. Why? Because it’s a high demand field , and they can’t easily go out and train someone and hire them for less. When I first graduated, I made upward moves in my field in order to be well rounded and to have knowledge in all aspects to ensure I’m always hired and in demand.
Long story short, the complaints are obnoxious. I feel empathy for those who did their due diligence and simply due to economic conditions or perhaps living in a rural area , I tend to be empathetic.
Not one of my friends in healthcare, certain IT certificates, and a few other career paths ever complain about our degrees. 😟

Was at a bar with the bartender having a B.A. and wanting to go back to school for their master, saying they wish they could always be a student. What a waste of money to not go into your field then continue with degrees your job will pay for.

Nothing new here. The devaluation of the college degree is something I've seen since the early 80s. Three examples of friends of mine back then...
One guy got a degree in Media Arts, worked as a box-boy for four years as he tried to get in the business. Nothing happened. Another guy got a degree in Resource Geography, became a grocery clerk. Another got a degree in Meteorology, became a delivery driver. Back then I was demonized for not finishing college. Today, I have my own business, own my car, and have two more years of house payments to make. Believe me, even if you do graduate college, you still have about 50 years of real world experience to go through that college simply does not prepare you for.

Love the interior of your car. The seats look so comfortable. What kind of car is that?

The phrase is Those who can, do. And those that cant, manage. I have never heard it used to reference teachers.

Don't know what you're smoking. It's always been used to reference teaching.
      Just ask any film professor.

Idk why folks would get those worthless degrees in today’s society. I would get a degree in Engineering or automotive. I have an associate degree in criminal investigation and my job is a truck driver. Thanks polygraph test.

Its called google. Type your degree in to see if jobs pop up. Generally stick to degrees a government agency you will hire you with. If you go down that route you can avoid theses worthless degrees.

I just quit my Sales job after 14 years of traveling to exhibit & sell software at tradeshows. Fake people, overworked and nobody cares about your lack of personal life. Now I cruise around on my boat and consult for my old company on my terms and price. 🎉 I help them and keep my mind sharp and make money at the same time

In highschool, they scare us about college. They give us so much book work in highschool and all of our papers had to be turned in on time. They used to get mad at us for talking too much and say... it's not going to be like this in college! Haha omg... college was like preschool again. My teachers weren't always on time, canceled class all the time, and they extended assignments all the time. Everyone was partying all night. My sister literally told me college is a party. Most professors were super lenient on everything. I was shocked. College was more about fun. But they did tell us, everyone can find jobs, it was all empty promises. I got a shitty art degree, I love art don't get me wrong, but I always wanted to start my own business. And I knew I wasn't going to use the degree when I graduated. I got a health coaching degree online for only $1k. Also not using it rn lol. Also, they do not teach you how to write resumes. I had a gen ed class where we literally asked the teacher to help us write resumes and they didn't. Can you imagine being in high school and asking the teacher for homework? Omg they would be the happiest teacher on the planet. Can't believe after all the damn writing classes I had to take, not one damn resume assignment. They also never talk to you about jobs in your degree, or how much money you can make. But I also think that depends on the school and advisor you have

I might end up as a custodian or “maintainer 1” as the college I applied to calls it due to being borderline suicidal because of a recent job switch. Idk. 50-60K I’ll live in a mobile home or something over this stress
