i feel u with your professor retiring. had a professor (she was in her 40's) initially just take a semester off (ended up being a year) due to pregnancy complications. after coming back and teaching for a year, she had to fully resign to become a full-time mom. even my professors who had her as their student was sad upon the announcement cuz she was one of their best students and our best professors.

my display once cracked too without any happening to it before, i went to the apple store and they told me it’s kind of a common problem with the macbook air and replaced the display for free. (they did a big check up before just to make sure it really wasn’t my fault)

GIRL a hair brush BRISTLE broke my screen when I got my laptop - I closed it on it and like an inch-wide black line of death appeared... so you might have closed it on something!! These apple screens are so weak 😑🤧glad you got it fixed
