Just have the wife and kids go to the store....Or out of country...noone will know. But remember to buy the pool with cash, You dont want your wife seeing the credit card statement.(not speaking from experience or anything...)
I actually wouldn’t recommend using this in a pool if your pool relies on chlorine to keep clean, as most pools do. Depending on the chlorine content it will remove prints from LEGO pieces. My pool doesn’t have a great amount of chlorine on it but I tested a self propelled boar design in it and the mini figure I placed on the boat is now missing half it’s torso print
You should totaly make a cruise ship or ocean liner (I know they are different, whatever would work for you) using that hull technique for your lego city!
BL4CKF0X we could have a year long series where every time he shows his city his ship gets in an increasingly worse situation ending in the ship in his underwater section, and then maybe even a recovery process!
If you play Ark Survival Evolved every animal and Dino is a storage container, it’s pretty great. It also has a shark, the biggest one that ever existed in fact (megalodon)
As someone familiar with boats, those bunks are pretty realistic to what you'd actually get to sleep in. Only just enough space to fit in laying down, and nothing more. Though how the bunks are meant to be _accessed_ does make me wonder.
Yep I grew up around boats as well, primarily sailing craft at that, so I'm quite familiar with minimized accommodations. Like you implied, all of them had a way to get in and out. Unlike this where an entire floor of a superstructure is the equivalent of 2 feet tall with not even an implied way to get in or out.
@@JANGBRiCKS To be fair, I've seen a good few cabin cruisers where there is a bedroom at the bow that consists of bed, and literally only enough floor space for a door to swing open into and a step up to the bed. I guess the little indents at the outer sides are supposed to imply a way in and out. Out of curiosity, how solid is the joint at the top? I'd figure with only studs to hold onto, it might be in danger of splitting at the middle if you pick it up by one hull. I do like the idea of joining hulls though, since the mono-hulls have always felt just a bit small overall.
@@kauske Yep I've napped in a couple of those. Still nice that they have a way to get into & out of the berths right ;) Plus this is a giant ship here with staterooms suggested to be occupying an entire floor of the superstructure. I can't see any way to change my view that the accommodations in this model are awkward at best if I think in anything close to a reality-based way. The joint between the hulls works pretty well. All of the white parts surrounding the crane rail are tied together across approximately a baseplate's length. If I pick up the ship from either end there's barely any flex. The only action that would concern me is grabbing both ends in opposite hands and trying to bend & fold the deck together upwards. It seems easier for the hulls to separate downward from the center beneath the joining structure.
@@JANGBRiCKS Well, I assume it's meant to be a research vessel, more so than a cruise ship. And most working vessels tend have cramped quarters and hot-bunking. Though with only two bunks, that's going to be some _real_ *hot* bunking indeed, ha.
WHY DO THIS MAN BE THE SOUND LIKE THE MOST CALMING VOICE? I know proper grammar is "Why does this man have the most calming voice," but gosh, does he calm me down.
I’m 14 and still love with Lego my mom just bought me the Millienium falcon for my birthday I’m happy but that means I can’t get lego for 4 months cause it was expensive
I must say I'm really impressed by the ship interior, I never would have expected 3 levels! The beds are even 4 studs wide and both have a small shelf to the side, a sort of bay window and as you point out an aquarium! Very well done Lego, most probably the best City/Town ship interior ever.
Video idea: when there's a set that seems overpriced, do a custom modification to add enough value to justify that price. For instance, I find the crane disappointing. For that money it needs more technic parts to create linked controls at the base for traverse, elevation and lowering. There's room to fit it and easy access from most directions to get your fingers on the controls.
I really hope one day lego makes a yacht of some sorts. Or a cruise ship. I want a big 150-200£/$ boat which has lower levels, life boats, passengers and a different feel.
I'm not a Lego City guy and never have been. But this thing screams at me: "TURN ME INTO A CONTAINER SHIP!" Unfortunately, I have neither the spare money nor the space to put it.
It’s sad but they wouldn’t be increasing prices if people weren’t willing to pay. People will keep paying for their sets as long as the price isn’t absolutely ridiculous.
in australia all the shops that sell toys do sales every 3 months because of school holidays so sale is good . also no one who is normal buys lego at the lego store/ lego online because they sell things at wayy higher prices than every other shop. the only use of them is to buy big and special sets like architecture etc
This set looks really great and very playable! I'll have to add some more plates for the middle and top floors of the super structure to give them a bit more height (at least enough so minifigs can actually stand up in the top deck). I just put together and modded the $10 cheapest/smallest minisub set and really like it more than I was expecting. It reminds me of the submersibles featured in The Abyss (one of my favorite James Cameron movies) so I definitely plan to pick up the ship to go with it! Cool review!
I'm really looking forward to this one but I do wish the conning tower wasn't such a tight build. I may have to customize that a bit. While the exploration theme is obviously fun for kids, I kind of wish this was a cargo freighter. I guess I can always build mine to be one!
First city set since 2013 I've actually really wanted! (other than the high speed police chase remake, which I was only going to get for the updated chase mccain/to have both versions of the set)
The play value looks awesome. Each square centimeter of that ship is made so you can play with it. Moving crane, several layers of superstructure, helicopter, submarine hangar... Nicely done
We ordered the hull parts from Bricklink (the last 2 in the USA at the time) back in mid-June & built it almost exactly with parts from our collection. Price- $32
I wonder if the value of this set could be more justified if there was a unified stud-topped piece that slid into the gap - that way you could pretend the ship had a full hold that could float inside and add more play value.
I could already seeing myself as a kid playing with this. Taking it out in a pool and using the crane to deploy the mini submarine to "explore" around the pool! Great job Lego! Great video Jang!
When you did your reveal video a while back I knew I had to have this kit! I have Now purchased all the 2020 under water sets. My young boys and I love using them all together. We usually put the ship on the edge of a table so all th other kits are lower than in to really add that submerged idea. Plus the crane can winch down past the "water" line. You are correct with the standard bath tub size, we put it in the bath with both our boys in it and with the two of them and the ship there was no room haha.
Just Some Random British Guy that’s me in a fun fact only I destroy it make something play with it destroy and build the original toy and set it somewhere for people to see
The studs on the shark's head are essential for attaching laser beams.
I get that reference to The Lego Movie.
It’s funny because the first ever set to contain this shark mould had lasers attached to them.
brickset.com/sets/8633-1/Speedboat-Rescue
Lol
Game Man And the lego movie reference is a reference to austin power’s.
sharks with frickin laser beams attached to their heads
I like to think that Jang lives in his ethereal realm, it’s all calm, bright white everywhere.
It’s very epic
Me to I like to think it’s a void and each LEGO set he has is just floating around him in nothingness
And it's beatiful
He's in Heaven
....... D&D
Holy cow, imagine playing with that in a small pool. Sometimes I wish I was still a kid..
Same dude
ive done it in a medium pool very fun
Just have the wife and kids go to the store....Or out of country...noone will know. But remember to buy the pool with cash, You dont want your wife seeing the credit card statement.(not speaking from experience or anything...)
I have a 24 foot wide pool and I had a blast sailing this ship in it
Same
I dont even collect city but my inner kid wants this do bad.
I do not care about the Lego City too, but when it comes to the boats and submarines, i am lost and i go buy it for the "inner kid" :D
I started collecting LEGO Star Wars at the end of last year
Bro same
Yeah it has a lot of interior and space
Saaammmeee
The diving helmets look really good, they kinda remind me of the power armor helmet in Fallout
Finaly, about time i completed that moc. Only downside its red, Grey or black would have been better.
They remind me of Halo
Windows XP Bliss Default Wallpaper yeah just paint them
I need one now
Just with an extra headlamp.
I’ve been looking for an actual review on this set for ages.

Michael T music that would put to much weight to the ship hull and it would not float
@@CartoonyAndor they suggested for JANG's city, which doesn't use real water anyway, so the ability for it to float would not matter.

watching this video is like going to an expensive store but only looking 😂
hahaha great review jang 👍
Window shopping is fun tho
Lol, same here. I am working on redoing that original ship!
That's one great thing about Jang, living vicariously though his videos.
I think that the inclusion of a shark counts as a play feature in itself this is cool.
No hate to Lego, but that shark straight up looks like it's smiling. It's hilarious.
Yeh you’re right
Well Lego city is for kids so the shark needs to be friendly and not scary
He's happy because he's gonna eat the Karen
Lol it’s usually the opposite. Whenever you see pics of sharks swimming in the water they always look like this:

WHY DO THIS MAN BE THE SOUND LIKE THE MOST CALMING VOICE?
I know proper grammar is "Why does this man have the most calming voice," but gosh, does he calm me down.
Upside-down boat hulls could make interesting curved rooflines, I could imagine stacking them for spaces between floors with slanty roof
Ive always loved the ships. So the fact that they found a "creative" way of making a large Haul gives me ideas, if I had the Hauls.
I hope they do a cargo ship using the same exact method of the double boat hull design
I mean this is easy enough to modify, you should be able to install a keel and floor on the bottom relatively easily.
YES
It’s easy Alpaka is right just get some plates
Alpaka I ordered this and im gonna salvage the helicopters parts and convert the ship in a cargo ship
The tiny submersible is my favorite part of this set. That's basically how real personal use subs look today, just a bubble with a big foot.
I’m glad they brought back the big shark piece, Even if this print looks a lil goofy
Personally I kinda like the new print, he looks very kind compared to the previous ones
Tiggle5485 at least it look like a real shark. Sharks dont have furrowed brows like the older print.
metroid767 imean you’re not wrong, but it’s wierd that they’d make that change but still keep the eyebrows for the hammerhead
This is a play focused set and it also looks good if I got this for Christmas as a kid I would hit the roof so many things to play with
Yeah. If I got this as a kid I'd freak out.
Nice idea
The DemonClown me too
I’m 14 and still love with Lego my mom just bought me the Millienium falcon for my birthday I’m happy but that means I can’t get lego for 4 months cause it was expensive
Wow. I'm really impressed with this. This is the first city set in months that I really want and I feel is worth my money. Nice.
Finally, a video where we can comment on! I think this set is very nice. Very smart to attach the 2 hulls together.
Yay they are using the old mold for great white shark also the scaling is realistic for the great white shark
That thing is huge! It can almost serve as a real ocean exploration ship
I love that the bottom galley/computer room has windows so it’s not just a dark box.
oh that boat hull is gorgeous. Big want for this year pirates give me chill too. All time favorite series.
I must say I'm really impressed by the ship interior, I never would have expected 3 levels! The beds are even 4 studs wide and both have a small shelf to the side, a sort of bay window and as you point out an aquarium! Very well done Lego, most probably the best City/Town ship interior ever.

I really like this idea, would be a really neat addition to these videos.
Bro there isn’t enough time in the world for that. ALL lego sets are overpriced lol
I’m definitely gonna try to grab a bit of those new diver figures to turn them into a nice military squad.
Me too
It’s so beautiful, and absolutely massive. I’m so excited to get one. Perfect for my harbor
Wow that ship is big!
For a second, i thought that was a custom you made. That’s how good it looks
Look at that smile on that shark! What a happy boi!
This brings back the memories I had with the 2014 ocean exploring sets!
I believe that would be 2015
Ughhhh I LOVE this set.... so sorry I missed this one..
Oooh,LEGO Stingray! Then, maybe,LEGO Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlet!?
Good job this was really good reviewing this
Really, really well done review. Good job.
I’m loving all the aquatic life in these sets.
That ship is enormous. Wow.

Bro Friends Yacht is amazing.
(That set in the way you described it would be 300 or more)
I want a big lego city mansion/manor.
Lego has always been good at making the things I want (the great white) exclusive to stupidly expensive sets!
I think it would be a good idea if every ship set you reviewed you tested it in water.
I'm not a Lego City guy and never have been. But this thing screams at me: "TURN ME INTO A CONTAINER SHIP!" Unfortunately, I have neither the spare money nor the space to put it.
*laughs in shelf*
Im gonna eventually buy 3
1 is a container ship, the other is an oil tanker and 1 will be the same but modified to look better
Can't wait till that set comes out on Lego website I'm gunna save up all my money to buy it because I think it is awesome.
Great review jang! Love that classic music 🎧
One of the best value for kids to play
I love the shark. I have the original that came with the original pirate ship.
Jeez! And I though the old red and gray Pirate ship I had was big!
That needs to be a thing. And in my life.
I think Lego is losing touch with reality when it comes to pricing. I love them, but these inflated prices could be their downfall in the end.

This would have been a dream gift when I was a kid
I'm feeling a Mock of the Benthic Explorer and the Deep Core drilling rig from James Cameron's The Abyss. I would totally use this ship as a base
I would've LOVE this as a kid. It's pretty functional, the sub's really awesome, and it ACTUALLY floats.
Your voice is so relaxing. I never thought I’d feel so calm watching a lego review.
Ocean and trains are missing from my city, but you keep making me think I need to finally start to add them
I love the cockpit bubble on the sub, it looks so smooth and fits so well.
I normally don’t care for LEGO city, but I might actually pick this set up!
Morgana Chan I’ll get 2 one for my brother and me I’ll ask him if we can combing together
If you move the arms of the minifigure upwards, it fits completely inside the shark
That stingray, quite literally, looks like a blueberry pancake

4:57 Jang- makes fun of Lego City Helicopters
The man who fell into the river in Lego City- how dare you!
I love the fish tank stickers. They're brilliant details!
Well technology the smaller boat still holds the record if they cheated! 😄
