They made a game out of the Beverly Hillbillies? Awesome! I really like the TV... oh,it's based on the movie. Well,in the hands of a competent developer...Capstone. Oh..... * downs the moonshine *
Just wanna put this out there: I know the save/restore menu doesn't LOOK weird, but the way it works truly is clunky, much like a lot of the games Capstone published. You'll just have to take my word for it. OR...you could plaaaaaay iiiiit... you know you want some of this. You want some Beverly Hillbillies game in your life.
did that lady just killed her? i mean damn why didnt she did it sooner. also why the hell is there a lady in a red dress breaking into people houses kidnap there grandmas and putting them in bank valts?! (i think want to watch the movie now) also love you scarfhulu
As Robert Smith once sang, "It’s a perfect day for doing the unstuck." Too bad the fucking Jed Clampett sprite sputtering around the woods didn't get the memo.
I haven't watched any of your contents ever since blistered thumbs and tgwtg sites were shut down. you got yourself a new subscriber. keep up the good content 👍
It's like they knew few would remember the Beverly Hillbillies, even less would remember the Beverly Hillbillies movie, and _no-one_ would remember the Beverly Hillbillies Game-of-the-movie-of-the-series, so they had to make sure it was so dreadful that you certainly wouldn't forget it!
Hey! I have that same lava lamp! The potion not only gave Jed super strength but apparently super agility judging by that backflip he felt was necessary before punching the safe door. I'm glad I never knew this game existed.
I had to go back and listen one more time... I thought you said "If you want to talk about porn with me...". I know fans can be weird on social media, but that would be pushing it! :)
They could’ve easily done an adventure game just based around the culture shock/difference. IE: the genuine loyalty and good nature of the Clampitts, versus the phony disloyal BS of California/Beverly Hills. Something like Jet getting in trouble hunting without a license or granny getting in trouble for making her shine without a permit etc…
When I saw that player sprite with the hat randomly twirling across the screen, I immediately thought of MJ's raspy "WOO" from Moonwalker on the Genesis/MD.
It is hard to find people to talk about Korn with anymore because I don't know if anyone still even remembers that band let alone listens to them anymore. I stopped really paying attention to them after See You On The Other Side, and that was over 10 years ago.
Great review as always! This reminded me of the indie retro-style adventure game Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold. Have you played it? I'd love to know what you think about it.
Where did my comment go? lol Why did it get deleted? I brought up the fact I was the one who long played it (The footage you used in your video) and how you found it on my chanel and you replied something like "That was you? I feel your pain" Didn't see any reason for its deletion. all the best! Happy new year!
Damn, I didn't think anything could top Daria's Inferno either. I could have sworn that clip at the end said "Don't come back now, ya hear" but maybe I heard it wrong.
Fun fact, the actor that played Jed back in the show was the original tin man in the Wizard of Oz. His makeup gave him aluminum poisoning and he spent weeks in the hospital and was replaced.
I didn't have cable growing up for about 4 years, so all I watched on repeat was I Love Lucy episodes recorded onto a VHS, the 4th season of The Simpsons on DVD and a Best Of collection of The Beverly Hillbillies. Just wanted to say thanks for pointing out the finer points of the sitcom and bashing the movie :P
hey PUR excellent video as always but on an unrelated note I was curious if you have ever listened to streetlight manifesto? only.reason I ask is because it always reminds me.of.grim fandango
I can't believe this exists, and as an adventure game. I could see a horrible SNES/Genesis platforming game where you play as Jethro -- collecting random items from the movie, as threadbare as it gets. It's a shame the graphics actually look decent, but hilarious that anyone thought the Beverly Hillbillies movie would be such a smash that people would buy videogame adaptations. So...now that I think about it. Was it because of the success of The Addams Family movie that we got this, McHale's Navy, and Leave it to Beaver?
+Linneus My favorite Beth bug was in Fallout: NV on the PC it was very possible to only be able to load games from within the game itself. Want to play from where I left off? Have to start a new game and hit esc to load my save. Don't know what caused it but it sure got annoying quick.
+Dubious Rigmarole Holy crap, that would have driven me insane. After about the fourth or fifth time, I think I would have said, "Okay, you know what? I didn't want to play it that much anyway." Which Fallout was it that had the head-spinning bug right at the beginning of the game? I have a particular fondness for that one. I've also found some hilarious ones in Skyrim. My current game miraculously ressurrected Skjor even thought he died ages ago in the storyline.
Chida Gamer That would also be New Vegas but I never experienced it without a mod. It did happen to other people though and you bet if it had been my first experience I'd have been either terribly confused or terrified, can't tell which. You didn't need to start a new game every time you loaded only from the title screen, it was weird, but oddly a simple google search told me it wasn't uncommon and the "solution". I've had that happen to me too. There is a road between Whiterun and Falkreath where at least five dead NPC roam. I started calling the Underworld. I don't know what causes them to respawn in the world, maybe they have quick-save too. My favorite Skyrim bug was when all the doors in the world became locked universally. No amount of waiting would cause them to open even during normal business hours, if I picked them everyone inside went instant hostile even if I was stealthing. I guess some days it just doesn't pay to be the Dragonborn.
Dubious Rigmarole I thought it was New Vegas, but I couldn't remember. I haven't played a Fallout game since the first one. I think my all-time favorite Skyrim bug is one I saw on PBG's channel. Describing it doesn't really do it justice, but it involved female vampires loosing their animations, their clothes, and their heads. I'm not sure if it really counts as a Bethesda bug, though, because it may have been mod related.
Chida Gamer New Vegas is a sequel to Fallout 1 and 2. It is also my favorite FPS Fallout game, but it does have its share of nasty bugs. I watched that series and I've tried to replicate that bug a couple times and have failed. I laughed so hard watching it I wanted to see if I could reliably cause it to happen just for amusements sake. PBG must have some kinda high or low luck stat.
Oh goodness, that's is positively shocking indeed. You'd have thought that they'd have had *something* from some of their prior games to re-use here. But I guess with Capstone, proper development wouldn't have been a surprise. But that navigation in the opening bit. Yikes! I'm not sure I want to brave my sanity in giving it a shot though ;) (Also, *dig* that Ankh necklace!)
You are a brave, brave woman for tackling that game. If you need some help in recovering from feverish anxiety dreams where you can't find where you put the corn, I know a good therapist that specializes in that. Like, specifically, corn anxiety.
It took way longer than it should have for me to notice that you were standing up in this vid. I could tell something was different on the first to camera part but it wasn't until the final one that it finally dawned on me that you were standing. I can only assume that Needles took your seat and refused to give it back
one thing that I would like you to play is whatever you consider the opposite of adventure games, I'm just curious about the performance. I think the opposite would sadly be a mindless first person shooter where the game spoonfeeds you everything, but I'm not sure.
I was skeptical and seems like I might've been right: hillbillies in said Beverly Hillbillies were apparently from the Ozarks, which is not the South so much as the Rust Belt or Midwest, since the region is more Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Still very rural and redneck even, but not Southern.
I had this game back in 1994 when I was 8. It look me ages to progress through it, but I played the shit out of it and remember it fondly for providing me with so much play time.
Jeebus Cripes, that looks annoying as hell. Thank you, Roses, for making my only experience with this game a positive one instead of constant rage and "WHYYYYY!?"
Just found your channel a few days ago, i been watching most of your videos and i love them!!! Keep up with the great videos! do you do request to review games? you should try the berenstain bears camping adventure for sega! what made me think of it was cause this game im pretty sure ripped off one of the soundtracks from that game but im not for sure which one came first :D
Wow, they'll make games out of anything. It kinda reminds me of the Gilligan's Island game for The N.E.S. That game was horrible and I could never figure out what I was doing.
I'm sorry Roses but your southern gal voice is just far too adorable. Now i'm off to watch the one redemming thing about this movie, the tie-in song by Weird Al.
I think I may have found a game that could even suprass this as the worst ever - "Wayward Manor." Though not even that game commits the sin of letting you drop any item from your inventory and never indicating where it is.

Oh boy. Yeah, I had this game as a kid, back when I was in love with adventure games and thought they would all be great. My dad bought it for my birthday and I think it was probably the game that destroyed my innocence: made me realize that some video games could be awful. Just terrible.
Is it weird that I barely notice when your hair is brightly multicolored, but the second it's (what I assume) your normal hair color it stands out to me?
Capstone is a crappy company. They were a one-office outfit out from Miami that had to license the Wolfenstein engine to make Corridor 7. They went bankrupt and had some other problems as well.
"I'll deal with any Bethesda bug..." Oh, the good ol' days before Fallout 76 was a thing.
these meme is so dated. 76 is fine now
They made a game out of the Beverly Hillbillies? Awesome! I really like the TV... oh,it's based on the movie.
Well,in the hands of a competent developer...Capstone.
Oh..... * downs the moonshine *

+PushingUpRoses something tells me that I'm not missing much if I sit this one out
+PushingUpRoses Meh...think I'll pass lol!
+PushingUpRoses okey oldman, stop yelling at cloud....he is on smash(?
+PushingUpRoses I have a feeling Roses is antsy to give away her copy, hehe! Just kidding. :)
+PushingUpRoses archive.org/details/msdos_Beverly_Hillbillies_The_1993 just gonna casually leave this here
I love the corpse-like state of the woman in the red dress. That is a majestic pose. If she ain't dead, she's got some serious talent there.
+Scarfulhu I forgot to explain what happened there. OH WELL. NO CONTEXT. She may or may not be dead, NO ONE KNOWS. Except me. I know.
did that lady just killed her? i mean damn why didnt she did it sooner. also why the hell is there a lady in a red dress breaking into people houses kidnap there grandmas and putting them in bank valts?! (i think want to watch the movie now) also love you scarfhulu
+Scarfulhu can't help but read this as if I'm actually watching a review by you.
"Published by Capstone"
Oh dear, we're in trouble.
"I expected nothing, and im still let down" is the perfect quote for this game.
I'll have to be honest, Granny getting blackjacked is possibly the most hilarious thing I've seen in one of these old adventure games.
Making video games is hard. Which is why you need to make sure you CAN. And then you need to TEST YOUR GAME before releasing it. Haaahhh...
I guess Capstone was the LJN of PC games.
Rainbow of death!
Except that they were FAR worse than LJN ever could be.
+Saad Albaker Sweet, welcome to here!
You like always thank people at the end of your videos but how many people say "you're welcome" back?
You're welcome.
"Which is ironic, because these days, I DO get paid to play shitty games!" So you could say you get...money for nothing? *DOUBLE REFERENCE!*
"Capstone: the peak, the fucking pinnacle of entertainment technology"
It's like they knew few would remember the Beverly Hillbillies, even less would remember the Beverly Hillbillies movie, and _no-one_ would remember the Beverly Hillbillies Game-of-the-movie-of-the-series, so they had to make sure it was so dreadful that you certainly wouldn't forget it!
More like Beverly HORRIBLEies! Eh? Eh?
I'm very sorry. I'll see myself out.
+leujin Y'all don't come back now, y'hear?
+leujin ---heh heh! x)
+leujin
It's okay. You can come back now, ya hear?
its cool you got a sense of humor. thats more then i can say for most people these days welcome back funny guy!
The video JUST started and already there's a Good Charlotte reference.
I'm liking this already...
It's like he is stuck in nothing at all... nothing at all... nothing at all.
BurnRoddy damn sexy Flanders
0:16
Short sweet and to the point.
I like that intro! That could be made into a webm or gif!
Capstone is a DOS port of LJN.
Lol
I will admit I liked the funny look of the rabbit blasting off at 3:33. Everything else though....
2:05 The Beverly Hillbillies, or should I say the Beverly MORDAK THE OWL?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Hey! I have that same lava lamp!
The potion not only gave Jed super strength but apparently super agility judging by that backflip he felt was necessary before punching the safe door. I'm glad I never knew this game existed.
Haven't even started the full review. Just the tone of the emphatic "This game, fucking sucks!" Just cracked me up! I watched it like 4 times!
Man, Capstone made some BROKEN games (and if you haven't played Homie D. Clown, well... don't!), but this one takes the damn taco!
Great video, Roses!
I'm so sorry you had to suffer through that. At least you got an excellent review out of it!
The Beverly HIllbillies movie was pretty hilarious when I was like 10.
I . . . probably should not revisit that.
That does look terrible lol
Awesome shirt! And awesome review! And awesome corn!
1:00 Good Charlotte, lol.
The later violent femmes bit was better. VF >>>>>>>>>> GC
I like how the dog didn’t invert. He is too pure of heart
I had to go back and listen one more time... I thought you said "If you want to talk about porn with me...". I know fans can be weird on social media, but that would be pushing it! :)
I suffered so much in the 90s with these kind of games... I love knowing I was not alone...!
They could’ve easily done an adventure game just based around the culture shock/difference. IE: the genuine loyalty and good nature of the Clampitts, versus the phony disloyal BS of California/Beverly Hills. When I saw that player sprite with the hat randomly twirling across the screen, I immediately thought of MJ's raspy "WOO" from Moonwalker on the Genesis/MD.
Didn't Capstone also do that really lame DOS game based on The Dark Half?
Iknew from your harvester video that this channel was going to be awesome. Keep up the good work, Miss Roses.
You lost your corn?
Well, you can go to Corn-Hub, there's a lot of good corn there.
It is hard to find people to talk about Korn with anymore because I don't know if anyone still even remembers that band let alone listens to them anymore. I stopped really paying attention to them after See You On The Other Side, and that was over 10 years ago.

This reminded me of the indie retro-style adventure game Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold. Have you played it? I'd love to know what you think about it.
I have to say that it would be very interesting to see you review some of the Police Quest games.
I KNEW I saw this channel before many years ago, but I forgot it was there. So glad I saw your Wayne's World video popped up. Subscribed!
"This game fucking sucks." -PUR, 2016. You sure don't waste time getting to the point. Great review of a definitely not great game.
Where did my comment go? lol Why did it get deleted? I brought up the fact I was the one who long played it (The footage you used in your video) and how you found it on my chanel and you replied something like "That was you? I feel your pain" Didn't see any reason for its deletion. all the best! Happy new year!
Characters: (Waving) You all come back now, you hear??
PUR: Oh no I won't! (Waving) Buh-bye.
Was very hyped for this after seeing all of your Tweets about it. Was not disappointed
They really expect us to believe Granny Clampett wouldn't have McGyver'd her way out of that in ten minutes plus commercials?
Damn, I didn't think anything could top Daria's Inferno either. I could have sworn that clip at the end said "Don't come back now, ya hear" but maybe I heard it wrong.

How in the hell did a Violent Femmes reference show up in a video about a Beverly Hillbillies game? My face hurts now.
capstone seems to be your arch nemesis....
Gah the fact they thought this game would be okay is just...no words. Lost it at Roses Yells at Cloud! XD
hey PUR excellent video as always but on an unrelated note I was curious if you have ever listened to streetlight manifesto? only.reason I ask is because it always reminds me.of.grim fandango

Endure every Bethesda bug before playing this again? All right, how about taking up that challenge?!
TOP 10 BETHESDA BUGS LET'S GO

You certainly look uber huffy near the end, will steer clear of... what ever this is

I would love to see you do the rest of your cover of gone daddy gone. That would be be awesome. Love the violent femmes and love your vids!
"Thank God I found my corn!" --Roses 2016

I could tell something was different on the first to camera part but it wasn't until the final one that it finally dawned on me that you were standing. I can only assume that Needles took your seat and refused to give it back
The sassiest and most angry Roses has been so far, great video Roses!
Just found your channel, you're really quite fantastic at this! :D Thoroughly entertained.
one thing that I would like you to play is whatever you consider the opposite of adventure games, I'm just curious about the performance. I think the opposite would sadly be a mindless first person shooter where the game spoonfeeds you everything, but I'm not sure.
As soon as you said "Capstone", I knew the fun was a-comin' :p
I love the save name! XD
Love the shirt and Simpsons reference! Thanks Roses! Absolutely terrific video as usual! : -)

So this was by the same people as the Bill and Ted game, huh? Speaking of old games worth an episode...
Wow, they'll make games out of anything. It kinda reminds me of the Gilligan's Island game for The N.E.S. That game was horrible and I could never figure out what I was doing.
You know a game is bad when even walking is a chore.
This was such a fun video, Roses. Why do the worst video games always make for the funniest videos?
I'm sorry Roses but your southern gal voice is just far too adorable. Now i'm off to watch the one redemming thing about this movie, the tie-in song by Weird Al.
I love your shirt roses!!! I'm a fan of the cure too!
Who knew Jeb was a pioneer of Hillbilly Breakdancing?
Oh I love that The Cure shirt!! also, I have the same ankh necklace from DC collectibles :)
1:16 Wait, is that Ernest?!
Could this mean that the alternate title of the movie could've been Ernest Goes to Beverly Hills?
6:09 "Can I, ugh, help you, ugh, sir? Ugh, ugh" Eh..... no.
I think I may have found a game that could even suprass this as the worst ever - "Wayward Manor." Though not even that game commits the sin of letting you drop any item from your inventory and never indicating where it is.
I loved that movie when it came out. All of those 90s remake movies I loved. I had then all on vhs. I still to this day like those movies.
Violent Femmes references are always an A+
NICE!
The Cure t-shirt. Ankh pendant. Ghostbusters poster. Wayne's World poster. Why can't PUR be my best friend? XD
Holy Mary mother of Joseph. I haven't thought of this game in years. ... No, DECADES. I only completed it thanks to a guide, plus a crudely drawn map to manoeuvre the rabbit.
Here, have some PTSD. "Can't get that Californy lingo." (I may be paraphrasing, it's been so long)
Are you going to play Shardlight when it releases? or do Let's Plays?
Looks like Legend of Kyrandia 1 in some weird way (item dropping, similar forest etc)
Oh boy. Yeah, I had this game as a kid, back when I was in love with adventure games and thought they would all be great. My dad bought it for my birthday and I think it was probably the game that destroyed my innocence: made me realize that some video games could be awful. Just terrible.
Well, I gotta say: at least Fuck Quest was both functional and true to form. ;) (Also free...)
Talking about corn eh? I could give you an earful.
love the drum clock
I both saw the film and played this game back in the day. Thanks for the grim reminders.
Is it weird that I barely notice when your hair is brightly multicolored, but the second it's (what I assume) your normal hair color it stands out to me?
Capstone: the pinnacle of entertainment.
Both Wayne's World and the Beverly Hillbillies Movie both directed by Penelope Spheeris
How you made it past the title screen is beyond me.
Capstone is a crappy company. They were a one-office outfit out from Miami that had to license the Wolfenstein engine to make Corridor 7. They went bankrupt and had some other problems as well.
