Epitaph Records is an artist-first indie label founded in Los Angeles by Bad Religion guitarist, Brett Gurewitz. Early releases from a variety of punk heavyweights helped launch the 90s punk explosion. Along the way, Epitaph has grown and evolved creatively while sticking to its mission of helping real artists make great recordings on their own terms.

Come on Epitaph. It’s so rare to see a conversation like this with a band like Architects and the sound goes out of sync. Should be an easy fix in the edit, this only has less than 20,000 views so far so you won’t lose much by fixing and reuploading it.

I listened to the album right when it came out at midnight. The electricity just went off that time so i used my phone data to stream it. Everything was dark and I couldn't see anything so i was just forced to focus on the album. The whole time i listened to the album was an amazing experience. Hearing all the production value, effects, samples, orchestral stuff, the lyrics. It was unreal, and when i got to the last song, it just made me sad that it was gonna be over. They're always great at ending the albums with memorable, beautiful, emotional songs. Especially on this album, it starts off sad but ends with a glimmer of hope. The album just flows so well, it's so well made.

Parts of it remind me a lot of Daybreaker era which I feel is the most overlooked album. It has a lot of similarities to this album in terms of ambience.

The point Daniel made was great. All of their albums are still there. This album fits so well in their whole library. If they didn’t try something new they’d be in danger of being called a band that fails to evolve. Musicians can’t win with their fan base sometimes. This album is beautiful work.

A real big thanks, guys, for leaving us all in on your thoughts behind this beautiful album 🥰 I just started on a new job this year and For Those Who Wish To Exist is my Drive-To-Work jam most mornings since it came out. That or - to be fair - Epica's or Nightwish's latest releases 😁 I'm absolutely in love with it and don't think it's too long. If you ask me, you could put out double albums or triple ones from now on😘.
BTW, Dan mentioning Max Richter here, kinda threw me off a bit. I'm soooo used to justifying the hodgepodge mix of artists, bands and composers I'm listening to to others that I didn't expect his name to be dropped in here 😜 Kinda cool to know that artists who are among my absolutely favourites right now enjoy similar stuff or are inspired by it, too 🥰
Anyway, to anyone still reading this (because I know I just can't seem to keep my comments short 😅), stay safe, sound and healthy.
Virtual hugs, greets and kisses from Germany 👋🤗😗

I think Daniel P. Carter makes a great point. Bands make music because it’s what they’re passionate about. You may not like it all, but to accuse a band like Architects of going soft or changing to get on the radio is so short sighted. They’ve always made music they want to make, so nothing has changed. As fans, all they owe us is their best work as a band, there’s no obligation to make music we like at the expense of their own enjoyment and creative fulfilment. There are songs I’m not too hot on but overall I like the album. Even if I didn’t, I would still love Architects, still love their work and respect them as people and musicians.

I'm a massive fan of this entire album and I just gotta say I love the fact that they also took inspiration from Thrice on flight without feathers. They're one of my first bands I became more of a wild fan of and continue to inspire my bandmates and I in our own music writing.
I feel bad that the group has been hesitant or worried at times about diversifying thier style. It's not up to the fans to decide what a band should or shouldn't play and we should just be grateful to continually receive a constant stream of music we can listen to for our whole lives if we want.

These interviews are incendiary (it is Daniel P Carter after all). If you want a potent one of Dan Searle & Daniel check out Daniel’s Someone Who Isn’t Me Podcast where he talked to Dan just after Tom’s passing. It’s gut wrenching. His talks with Ross Robinson, Dan, Mike Shinoda, Jaz Coleman, Chelsea Wolfe, Alan Moore, Ghostemane, James Lavelle/UNKLE, and SO many others, but all those episodes are killer). But, this is maybe my favorite Architects interview despite this record is tied for my least favorite Architects record; however, the lyrical themes on this record are tied for their BEST along with, “All Our Gods.” I can recognize the difference between what my personal favorite is vs someone’s technical best. It’s like, “What’s your favorite food? Okay, now what’s the best food for you in terms of nutrition and varied textures?” After this, “classic symptoms of a broken spirit,” had me right back in the saddle with Architects.. Getting to hear this interview was incredible. It’s being added to my ‘background work’ playlist that I let roll while I do my thing. Their depths they went to for this interview, and the length of this reminds me of how my favorite Linkin Park Making Of is for, “Minutes To Midnight,” despite that’s their one record I dislike. Daniel P Carter always gets into the real heart of things, and works to crack open rationale behind what’s ACTUALLY happening for a person. He takes that to a Super Saiyan level on the SWIM Podcast. We get full on into universe juice, Hermetic Kabbalah, Magik, spirituality, all sorts of awesome shit. Kudos to Daniel & Architects for putting out this two parter! 🙌🏼 🤝 ❤️

Since everyone on these two videos has nothing but good things to say, I'll provide an opposite perspective. Not to hate but because I am such a big fan of the band and they deserve my honesty. This album didn't do it for me. You all seem to love it, but I felt for the most part FTTWTE is not memorable and not up to the standard the band has set up for themselves. I'm not crying because "not br00tal anymore" or because they have evolved. I'm disappointed because I love the band so much. It says something that essentially all the dudes I know who also love Architects feel the same way about this album, and its a shame. And it's not because of the evolution in sound either. I am here for an evolution! I can hear what they were trying to do and I think its dope, I just think somewhere in the process something got lost. I don't hear Sam's heart and soul here, it's like he's just saying words written by someone else for another band. There are a few songs I love (An Ordinary Exception, Libertine, and Black Lungs are all fantastic) but for the most part, I found the other songs to just not be as memorable or emotionally compelling as their previous work. I get the dudes have been through a lot, with the loss of Dan and then releasing Holy Hell. What i loved about that album was how emotionally compelling it was. I could feel Sam and the guy's emotions. Here, all I feel is production. The album feels so polished, so digital, it's like a wall to feeling what I loved about Holy Hell and All Our Gods. Anyway. Again, not trying to hate. Just how I felt. Still a fan and will continue to listen, maybe it will grow on me! Much love Architects, thank you for everything!

It's lackluster at best. When I heard they were going to run with Tom's idea of adding industrial elements I imagined something along the line of Northlanes Alien album... This is all over the place and I fully agree about Sam. His hearts just not in it...

Have to agree. I do enjoy some of the new tracks (Discourse is dead and Dead Butterflies being my personal standouts) but overall, I was incredibly disappointed with FTTWTE.
Compared to AOGHAU and/or Holy Hell it just sounds really unoriginal and overproduced.
Obviously happy for anyone who enjoys the new record - but I for one just get sad and bored listening to it.
Still, looking forward to their future releases and hope that this album was the thing they needed.

@@kartzzy6101 Well, at my first playthrough I thought the album lacks a bit in power because of all the clean vocals that were going on. But that was also me making the mistake going into the album thinking it would be another Holy Hell or AOGHAU (maybe a mix) despite me knowing that it definitely wont be. So I let it sink in a few days and when I had some spare time I listened to it again without the mindset of expecting another Holy Hell. What can I say, it totally changed my view of the album. There is still more than enough of power, Sams vocals are different but insanely good, the guitars and the drumming are on point. Lyrically Id say Holy Hell was stronger but I guess thats due the fact that kinda the whole album was about grief and that gives it a different vibe/the lyrics another meaning.
