    Just sent this to a friend who is learning drive a chopper. His favorite is the attack choppers. Personally, I prefer the attack chopper gunner seat. Having a good run in the Apache is one of the most satisfactory experiences in the game.

    Been recently using the attack helis more after the numerous nightbird/stealth nerfs and while they still do have some of their old weaknesses (mainly low maneuverability), they feel much better since they can demolish ground troops if they don't bother switching to AA.

      Their agility has improved loads, I love it. Also most other pilots I come across don't really use roll and altitude to speed up their turns so even if they're in a more agile heli I can keep the business end facing them and hitting 2 127mms took way less time to get good at than I thought

    • @marzipandan767

      They are definitely worth the time investment, in my opinion. I think the main advantage of the attack choppers is that you can completely shut down enemy armour.

    Great guide. Have to say now the dust of 5.3 has settled and we've seen it all in action, I still think the relationship between the ACs and the Wildcats is too imbalanced. For all that they're very far from indestructible and if an AC wrecks your armour, well -- that's your fault. You let it happen!

    • @marzipandan767
      @marzipandan767  6 месяцев назад +2

      I do think that wildcat guns should be more effective against attack choppers. As they stand, they just don't have enough. I'm all for if you are ambushed in a wildcat you should lose, but if you start firing at the same time I think it should be in your favour or at least very close.
      The 35mm guns do good work against attack choppers, but because they aren't great at range its hard to guarantee the kill.

    Enemy pilots in your video: *takes a rocket, hits the ground* "Doesn't matter - rotor is still spinning, I will try to survive until the bitter end!"
    Enemy pilots when I fly: *takes one stray bullet from 200m away* "welp, guess it's time to bail"
    I have more forced crashes and forced bailouts than airkills. If only they rewarded anything.

    • @marzipandan767
      @marzipandan767  6 месяцев назад +1

      With the rockets, I think people have the mindset of: "They hit me! It must have been a lucky shot. I can still keep fighting. "
      Sometimes, when a nightbird or a stealth gets on you and it is evident they are a better pilot, bailing out just makes sense.
      Plus, the rockets deal so much damage that they are often caught off guard and die before they can react.
      I do think that a better scoreboard could help make these cases feel less unrewarding since you still won the fight.

    • @iamgaard
      @iamgaard 6 месяцев назад

      @@marzipandan767 absolutely! I had a prime example yesterday. Very frustrating match. Decent enemy Nightbird, caught me off guard in an Apache and took me out. I tried to come back to get him in a nightbird but kept getting shot out by an enemy jet nobody was taking care of. Classical example of team coordination discrepancy. When I was up, I was dodging 3 lissiles per minute, hiding from ground AAs, dodging railgun tanks and dogfighting a jet with infinite radar missiles to try to get to my Nightbird target who farmed statically with practically 0 opposition. I digress.
      Near end of match I get to them unobstructed, they see me, we engage in a legendary 1v1, as clean as it gets. I manage to come out on top, but due to the intense maneuvers I couldn't blow him up with my last burst, so he bails. I immediately chase his parachute to extend my sympathies to the Geneva Suggestions, and as I press click to claim my victory... He redeploys.
      Yeah. All that, 50xp forced bailout. I jumped out of my Nightbird to catch his flaming wreck to claim a last drop of satisfaction. Failed to, though that's besides the point.
      That shouldn't be a thing.

    Another great video. Few more tips for gunners:
    1. Spot often. You would be surprised at how many spot assists you get.
    2. To put into perspective how important it is to not overheat: it takes 8 seconds until you are able to shoot again. It's so easy to get greedy for a kill. Do not overheat!!
    3. Shoot the Liz rockets.

    • @marzipandan767
      @marzipandan767  6 месяцев назад

      1. I think 90% of the time when I top the board it is from just spotting more than most players. Spot everything!
      2. 1000% agree, it takes a lot of discipline, but it is absolutely worth it.
      3. Agreed, preventing 80 damage is very relevant.

    Good pilot, good gunner - you're damn near untouchable. I've played multiple games without dying; it took a while, but if you hit most of your shots with rockets, your gunner would finish it. It got to a point where my gunner and I would see who could get the most kills.

    Great guide as always. As a controller player I always feel like I’m at a significant disadvantage vs my MKB counterparts. One of the things I try to do to counteract this is to be sure off throttle when firing. When on throttle the chopper wants to move to a level pitch even if the sticks aren’t giving that input.

    • @marzipandan767
      @marzipandan767  6 месяцев назад

      Mmmm, that's odd. Are you sure that autolevel isn't set to 'On' in the menu. I've heard this is the case for some people, and for some players, it means that they are fighting this setting while they are aiming

    • @Bravo-xm9qg
      @Bravo-xm9qg 6 месяцев назад

      @@marzipandan767did confirm it’s off, and it may simply be a feeling more than a scientific pitch rate change on throttle. But I do find I’m much more accurate off throttle.
      Really wish we could get a PIP (predicted impact point) like we’ve had in previous titles. Maybe in an update soon 🤞

    • @marzipandan767
      @marzipandan767  6 месяцев назад +1

      @Bravo-xm9qg I don't think they will add a PIP. The problem is that choppers are already very strong, and providing a PIP would make even novice pilots much stronger. I think some of the progression of getting great with aircraft is learning where your shots will go without such tools. But we will see, I have heard that DICE want to have more information in aircraft cockpits.

    Excellent video bro, I'm really good in all choppers but the attacks have been my favourite since season 4. I've had a few close calls but as long as there's no third party I've won close to 100% of my dogfights with other attacks, nightbirds and stealths though I very rarely have a gunner at all. I love when my opponent has heatseekers because I know they're going down lol. In a lobby earlier someone who was trying to get me the whole match gave up on choppers and got a felon with heatseekers. They weren't a threat really just a nuisance for a few minutes because I struggle to hit jets but they got too close and I delivered 2 127s into their broadside 🤣

      Winning those dogfights with the antivehicle rockets is so satisfying and definitely takes some practice, but once you get there you can dominate the skies as well. I love seeing the AA missile stealth and attack helicopters for the same reason, they are easy prey :) Jets are pretty difficult to hit, but if you can get used to getting them when they are coming head on you will be in a good spot. The gunner seat tears through them too!

    I've found the biggest danger is Nightbird. Which seems ridiculous on paper, a light vehicle against heavily armored. But with a good pilot and gunner who can keep from overheating... It's possible.
    Wildcat lock on range is also stupidly long, 700 meters I think. RAM third seat instead feeds useless with 250 m range.
    Still earning my wings but gunning I've gotten used to hiring the top spots. Good tips! 👍

    • @marzipandan767
      @marzipandan767  6 месяцев назад

      I would absolutely agree, the nightbird is your biggest threat. It is hard to hit and a decent pilot can concentrate fire and tear you out of the sky. Thankfully 2 rockets are all it takes and as you said the 30mm passenger seat shreds though them.
      The AA missiles are easy to deal with, I love when Wildcats use them because they leave themselves open for so long. The RAM AA missiles are so bad! I have no idea why they don't deal as much as the Wildcat ones! They are actually not even worth it!
      I'm happy that you are making your way, I really think it is worth having some air ability in your back pocket! Thanks!

    I always use the attack chopper, easy to farm and i think overall its the best help your team can get, you focus on taking out their chopper, then wildcat then the rest of their armor so your team gets vehicle advantage. I do have an issue with it though, i feel like there is a hit marker issue for me or maybe theres something i dont know? For example when a jet is coming straight towards me and im shooting the missles, i see the missles impacting, theyre not flying past the jet theyre literally hitting and exploding infront of it, but theyre doing 0 damage, and in other cases i just have issues wiht the nightbird where the missles go right through the nightbird. I dont know if these two cases are a ping issue or what, but when it comes to attacking the stealth bombers or other attack choppers the misslces hit and kill them easily. I just dont understand whats going on with the jets and nightbirds.

      Absolutely practice in solo or coop mode. The AI doesn't take vehicles until you have decided where you want to spawn. Use this mode to hone the basics, flying, hitting ground targets, and hitting aircraft. Once you are comfortable, you can take these skills into actual games. I will warn you that AI do not react like real players, this is going to be most notable when dogfighting, you'll have to just practice these in the thick of it, but from your solo/coop experience you'll have a better feel for where your rockets are going to go.
      In terms of getting a chopper in an actual game, if you are on PC you have an advantage if you have the game on an SSD since you can load faster and increase the likelihood that you'll join the start of the game before everyone has taken the vehicles. Then it's just about clicking the chopper faster than the other guys who want it. If you are on console, I'm not sure how it usually looks, so I can not help there.
      128 player conquest modes have a couple of maps that have multiple chopper spawn slots, so you are more likely to get them in those games. Or if the control mode ever runs again, spawning a chopper first comes down to gathering Ascension points first and then spawning one in.
      I hope this helps!

      I would really recommend using "rifle aim". Change pitch up to right stick up and pitch down to right stick down, change turn right and left (or yaw right and left I can't remember what they're called on this game because I've used these controls so long) to right stick left and right too. This way when you move the right stick it is just like when you aim a weapon in foot. I have the body roll left and right on the left stick, throttle up and down to R2 and L2, weapon zoom to L1 and weapon fire to R1 and use R3 to switch between first and third person view. Also make sure you have "invert flight controls" off. Trust me, once you get used to these controls you'll be able to be so precise you'll never look back.

      @marzipandan767  6 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for commenting Goldendroid!
      I will say that of all of the choppers, the attack choppers do not demand as much aiming when dealing with ground targets, but hitting enemy aircraft is where you might struggle. Damien here is recommending Rifle aim and that works very well for a lot of people. It can take some getting used to if you are used to the default flying control method. I use the regular controls since I am too used to them from BF4.

    • @Goldendroid
      @Goldendroid 6 месяцев назад +1

      @@damienmcdonald7610I’ve been using the legacy controls from BF3 (R2/L2 for throttle, right stick for pitch up down and rolling, left stick for “steering”).
      Maybe I should try rifle aim, that sounds like it could work.

      If you are on PC having the game on an SSD gives you a loading advantage, which means you have a higher chance of being in the game before everyone takes the vehicles.
      Some of the 128 player conquest maps have 2 choppers so you are more likely to get them there. Alternatively, if the mode Control comes back, if you can get Ascension points before everyone else you can be the first to spawn in a chopper.
      Otherwise you have to be quick on the vehicle select.

    • @marzipandan767
      @marzipandan767  6 месяцев назад

      If are starting from completely new, then I would start up an empty portal server with no AI or anything, spawn a chopper and just practice flying and staying in the air. Once you start to feel a little comfortable controlling the aircraft, find something on the map you can start to target as practice. This can be a car or a silo, something that you can spend some time shooting. This is the step that I found the hardest, I found myself constant throwing my chopper into the ground because aiming and staying in the air was so difficult. It's going to be frustrating, but you'll get it.
      Once you are comfortable here, move to Solo/Coop to practice against AI. Play a couple of games here and you'll start to get the hang of thing, you'll get overconfident and you'll think you'll be ready for real games. Then you'll head into a proper player game and you will get smashed. At this point you'll have to determine whether you think you need to go back to solo/coop games to practice more or push through the growing pains of flying against players. Unfortunately, the AI do no properly replicate player behavior. The AI don't take stingers, they don't try to get you with choppers, they don't interact with choppers, and they don't hold grudges xD. Players do. Flying is pretty hard; practicing is the only thing that will make it better.
      I hope this helps.

    How do you fly backwards so smoothly

    • @marzipandan767
      @marzipandan767  6 месяцев назад

      Just practice. Going backwards in choppers just involves moving up, while the front of the chopper is aiming up towards the sky, once that movement is happening I can just move my mouse left and right to sway whichever direction I need to be.
      Good map awareness helps you not slam into that hill or skyscraper while you are flying backward. XD

    I have 50000+ kill on helis on BF3/4, I played it competitively, I have like 100 1v1s and many 2vs2s.
    The way the helicopters fly in this game is absolutely terrible, the HUD is horrific (and pretty much useless) and the fact that a scout heli can fly as fast as an attack heli drives me crazy. No gadgets for the gunner (30mm rounds have such a short range and a slow bullet speed....), only the flares to use as CM, the air radar is absolute trash, and lastly I don't like how the TOW works too.
    I'd rather go on foot. Knife only. Against a tank.

    I want to preface this by saying: You clearly have more subs than me, so you're doing something right, I dont tend to make these sorts of videos (tutorials and such) and maybe I should make more - However, there is one metric I am fully aware of, engagement and clickthrough rate - When you show the metric of "subscribed vs nonsubscribed" and ask viewers to sub, you're doing your channel a disservice.
    1. You want more non-subs finding your content, if like me the majority of your views come from subscribers you channel doesnt grow as much or as quickly.
    2. Views from more unsubs is way better as it means people are discovering your channel more, and its being recommended to more.
    You want more channel discovery the metric you show on the screen isnt a bad thing, in fact you really want more unsubs to find and be recommended your content over subscribers.
    The reason this is good, is because a random finds your video and watches it, they like it, they belong to a demographic, that is then fed into the algorithm and people of a similar demographic are recommended your content more.
    This is better than the majority of your views being from subbed people overall.
    Subscriptions dont do a lot on YT, its only really used as a metric to denote channel popularity rather than improving your earnings etc.
    On YT, views, likes and engagement fuel channel growth - If it was Twitch, followers are better overall.
    There are plenty of examples of channels on YT where they have one or two videos with millions of views and only a handful of subs, and vice versa, lots of subs but low views.
    I want to end this with, I'm not trying to shit on you either, I like your vids and I'm subscribed, You have a very aesthetic voice and you describe your reasonings very eloquently, but the "subbed to unsubbed" ratio you peddle is actually a good thing.
    Keep up the good work though. I hope you dont think I'm trying to be rude to you x

    • @marzipandan767
      @marzipandan767  6 месяцев назад

      No offense taken; I totally understand your perspective :)
      Here is how I see it: Most of my views are actually not subbed. I think this is mostly from the fact that I have two 'big' videos (relative to everything else on the channel), one being at around 100k views and the other around 200k.
      I agree that more views from unsubs is a good thing because more people are discovering the channel, but from what I have seen you get a decent impression (how many people it is showing your thumbnail to) boost for the first 24 hours. But I have found that if a video takes off with lots of views in the first 24 hours, the impressions number doesn't flatline as much. I think that if subs are coming and watching the content, it obviously adds to those views, increasing the initial view count, hence keeping the impressions going and having it reach more new viewers.
      Having subs who do not watch your content is definitely a bad thing. I only want people to sub if they enjoy the content. If they have no intention of watching future content, then I would prefer that they don't. In fact, what I've heard from the YT reddit is that having subs that don't watch your content can hurt your channel, it the reason people will advise against getting friends and family to sub to smaller channels.
      This is just from my short time perspective on YT, I am definitely just guessing based on my limited data and the bits of things I have gathered from reddit. It's also hard to argue with the fact that a lot of big youtubers do mention subbing lightly, they do have the most data and experience regarding the success of doing this.
      I love talking YT stuff so I'm happy to continue the conversation :) I know that you don't mean anything bad by this.

    Tips against nightbirds (you will need a gunner or some skill to hit the missiles by yourself):
    Stay high and far enough from the enemy (enough to make his miniguns deal little to no damage because of the distance + spread) and use your guided missiles, this will make the enemy pilot fly low to avoid locking on, then get close to him and start to cause damage. If the nightbird pilot starts flying high again, use your missiles if his flares are on cooldown. The objective here is to apply pressure to make him fly low and probably backwards (as he'll try to damage you), making his life difficult, disrupting his aim and perhaps causing him to crash into a tree or some building. If he tries to run away, your gunner will have to do the work for you, just hope there's no AA or stingers in the way. If you take long to destroy him and his flares are back... pray for battlefield gods as he'll be close to you and certainly not happy, here your best bet is to finish him of quickly (if he is low on life) or try to get close to an ally AA.
    I don't play the attack helicopter that much, but I'm constantly training with the nightbird to deal with this kind of situation, if I get too close to an enemy helicopter I'll almost always destroy it, but if it keeps its distance and annoys me with missiles, I am forced to fly low and become vulnerable.
    Also, TOW missiles are great, but it takes a lot of practice to hit air targets and most players don't have the ability to do so (myself included). Hope someone find this helpful and i wish you all luck in battlefields.

    • @marzipandan767
      @marzipandan767  6 месяцев назад +1

      I think taking the AA missiles is a bad idea and is not how you get the most out of the attack choppers. AA missiles are so limited and act as a crutch to prevent you from practicing hitting choppers with the 127mm's. I completely agree that if you are adamant on taking them, then chasing low flying nightbirds is the best strategy.
      Hitting air targets with the TOW is very difficult and I am not good with it, but for ground targets they are so important :)
