It’s a shame most of the community uses this thing like a budget tank with the 40mm or 57mm :( most of the rounds we get torn up by enemy air, it’s because a teammate couldn’t get the tank they wanted so they just snatched this up
I find it funny that in one of the vehicle supremacy matches I played I was going Duel AA Wildcat w/ AT secondary and I was wrecking the enemies Air support. 2 of my teammates started to ram me with tanks because I was killing the enemy air. We where losing that round because of enemy air.
@@kingdarkemyour issue might be that your settings don’t allow you to crossplay. Im not familiar with playing BF2042 on xb1 as I play on pc but when I turned off the crossplay feature in my settings to test it it took me 15 mins to find a game and there were only 15 people on each team. Hope this helps!
so well researched and presented! i dont think anyone does such in depth guides like you, at least none of the "big" bf2042 content creators. i hope this will make you get many more subscribers, you certainly deserve it!
Thanks for your kind words. I definitely try to make my content stand out against other Battlefielders, no point just replicating the same stuff they are already doing to a larger audience. I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
@Benjamin-wy4dj it's good at close range but has trouble when aircraft get further away. A good choice against transport choppers since their large frame is easier to hit. Personally, I'm sticking with the 30mm since it means I can finish them up when they try to run. The 35mm is a better choice than the 40mm imo.
The 60mm flak pod actually used to be an amazing tool against infantry, but it got nerfed. One of my buddies used to sit passenger in my Wildcats and regularly get double the kills I would just using the flak pod
It used to be really good against everything. I remember when everyone discovered how good it was against choppers, anyone who knew what they were doing with them was an absolute nightmare to fly anywhere nearby. I wish it was a little stronger right now, I think Dice went a little overboard with the nerf. I really enjoy flak weapons, so hopefully it will get a little bit of love, maybe a faster velocity so it is more useable at further ranges? Thanks for commenting :)
@@marzipandan767 Takes some time because you need to know where the busy spots are for the infantry. And learn the angles to get them in nicely. I run full AA and have both weapon pods as grenade launchers
Great vid as ever -- I'm sure a lot of players are going to find it super useful! Fun to watch on the commute :) I've thought about this, and honestly there's one point I would suggest just perhaps... there's an alternative point of view. The AA missiles serve a function of 'airspace denial' which can be exceptionally frustrating on maps where the Condor / Mi240 are the go-to vehicles of choice to capture (take the new Discarded map). Yes, you're correct -- you won't kill a good pilot. They'll flare and run. But that's actually a great outcome, you've pushed them off the objective. Also by forcing them to flare, you create the opportunity for others like a Jet, RAM or an Engineer with AA to take their shot & possibly get the kill, but at the very least push them back. One Wildcat can completely cripple the opposition's ability to take points (think on Spearhead, when you position in the centre of the triangle between A1, A2 and B1. You can even cover C1 if you're forward enough). I don't see how you could achieve this without AA missiles. Anyway the great thing about BF is there's always more than one way to load out & crack a problem (and associated opportunity cost!), so Buyer's choice! Do what works for you :) Great vid as ever!
Thanks Timeless! As always, I really appreciate your comments! The way I see it an enemy transport chopper being up is such a massive issue for your team. It gives the enemy team so much strength in the game, not just killing potential but capturing power, being able to drop off passengers to get back-caps on points that your team is far away from is the best way for an enemy to make some significant ticket gains. If you push it away, it will just come back after flares recharge. The only way to deal with it is to take it out of the sky or do so much damage that they know that going back is a massive risk that might end in death. I genuinely think that the AA missiles are bad. I just don't want them to be a crutch that prevent people from getting better with the 30mm Dual Cannons, since with these you CAN deal this lethal, or close to lethal damage. I definitely agree, I think that people should play whatever they want, but I think that if they avoid the AA missiles, they will have a better time. Thanks man :) Hope your commute was good!
@@marzipandan767 eh -- it's a smoke grenade / EMP situation again! Pushing the Transport away is a win unto itself if you hold the point. I get what you're saying, but even if it tips the odds 10% in favour of getting that Transport or creating the opp for someone else, worth taking! At least that's where I'm at! Yeah the commute is all the better when there's a great RUclips drop ;) congrats again with the channel success!
This is exact the loadout that I am using. First I was very happy once I was able to equip the 40 & 57 mm guns, but theI recognized how hard it is to follow the air vehicles with these cannons and so I went back to the 30 mm cannon and this makes my life much better with the wildcat.
Same, I really wanted them to be good, but it just showed me that it was clear that they wanted the wildcat to fill the role of a light tank alternative and an AA tank, which I think is a shame. Why can we not have two separate vehicles for these roles. I'm glad I'm not the only one who recognized that the 30mm dual cannons are the best. Thanks for commenting! I appreciate it!
As a dedicated Wildcat player, thanks for providing a new perspective for me. I thought I had tried most combinations but I seemed to have missed what your personal column is on selections. Well done video, cheers!
I'm glad that even a wildcat veteran such as yourself can learn something from this video. Let me know what works for you and what doesn't! Thanks for commenting!
As an Armor main here, with most land stuff at T1, I agree with everything here. Only thing I do not agree with is jumping on top of a vehicle when repairing. While you always stay with it, any sort of splash damage will take you out, so try to only do that when you are in cover. Looking forward to more content on this channel!
It has its drawbacks and benefits. We've all been in the situation where our driver has just driven off while we are trying to repair them. Climbing on prevents this, but it definitely makes you more of a target. Thanks for the support man :D
Thanks mate, Tip for Noobs, where ever your cannon is pointing is where you will leave the vehicle Point backwards to get out at the rear, out of the firing line ..
This is a great tip! I will say that sometimes this can be inconsistent. Most of the time, it works as you said, so much so that it is worth doing every time, especially if you need a safe place to repair! Thanks for putting this!
Decided to grind 600 kills with bots and maxed out the wildcat after this video. Totally worth it. Great guide, great vehicle too. Love shredding jets and helis.

Thanks Aberbear. I'm happy that you enjoyed it! I definitely hope that people take some notes, more people fighting against good pilots is always a good thing! I appreciate the comment!
Quick comment. The AA cannons and AA missles combo make the wildcat an aircraft slayer. I have single handed been able to cripple an enemy teams air game. The AA missles being useless is a completely misguided comment. Every video says the same thing. You fire them and aircraft will just pop flares. That's exactly what you want them to do. The mistake people make is they fire both missles. The first engagement with any aircraft is AA missle lock. Fire. One missle. Predictably pilot flares. Switch right to guns as soon as you let that first missle go. Light him up land you shots and with a couple of brief pause to allow a slight cool down, it doesn't take much, then just fire till they over heat. By the time you overheat that 1st missle will be reloaded and those flares will be gone. Reestablish missle lock. Fire both if you hit you cannon shots it should only take one to kill everything but the condor. Maps without buildings no helicopter that comes within range will escape alive. Jets can escape with speed but you will hurt hem so bad the would be stupid to try again. I have had to repeat this process a few time when a condor has 2 reps with them. But if they are just sitting there you can absolutely take them out. And don't just park in the back and use this tactic. Be aggressive!! Turn the hunters into the hunted. Nothing in the sky is safe!!
See I am a mediocre chopper pilot, and AA missiles hit me maybe 5% of the time and even then, they kill me even less. I know that once I have popped my flares I need to go and find a safe place for them to recover. I have no doubt that this would work on new pilots, but those aren't the pilots causing players to rage the game. It's those who know exactly how to stay in the air against AA missiles which you have to be worried about. If it works for you, then absolutely keep doing what you are doing but I know for me and against me it's not a very good strategy.
@@marzipandan767 You are absolutely correct. A good pilot on certain maps can be next to impossible to kill. Sometimes at best I can limit their air to a portion of the map.
I recently discovered this channel and as mostly infantry player playing the series since BF1942 this channel is a superb resource congratulations and keep it up. Im only now bothering with vehicles etc.
Oh man, let me say that I think that BF is best as a jack of all trades player. It's great being able to pick up anything on the battlefield and helping my team win. I'm happy that you enjoyed the videos!
Seat swapping is very important in tanks. If you have 60mm and tow with mpat, you can kill a tank in less than 7 seconds. Get the jump on them with the first shot, close distance, fire again, switch to TOW, shoot, switch to mortar, shoot and they are dead. By the time you are done firing the mortar the mpat will be ready for another shot if you need it. Not even mavs are safe.
That is a nasty combination you have there :) I feel like too many people neglect this. The pod seat itself is so neglected but can be set up so they are so much fun.
With a recent update, now our loadout options are: 12.7mm HMG 40mm Grenade Launcher 7.62mm Minigun Barrage Missile 12.7mm HMG + Thermal 7.62mm Minigun + Thermal and 40mm Canister Shot Pod Kinetic Grenade Pod 60mm Flak Pod I use 12.7 + thermal and 60mm flak pod
I've recently been using the barrage missiles and the flak. The barrage missiles are much better than I gave them credit. But you still get too many people using them against vehicle. The flak has been helpful with the nightbird harassment which I've been getting lately. Alternatively, I think I'd take the canister shot.
@@marzipandan767 I was also using barrage and cannister or flak. The barrage is awesome to destroy cover. But I have found that the thermal HMG keeps my gunners focused on infantry instead of trying to draw attention of a heli or vehicle to us. Even though you are right--the barrage is more versatile. I think they need to bring back zuni rocket option instead of AT/AA in driver seat. The vehicle would be more akin to the BF4 MAA. The Wildcat also needs a buff in the form of mobility or something. Maybe an option to switch to rubber tracks like the bolte
Sweet vid, I've been running the big cannons and AA rockets (exact opposite of what you say here), works alright but I'll test this out for fun and see how it goes!
I think focusing on dealing with the aircraft is too important. I know that the big 40mm cannon is great against infantry, but you leave your skies unchallenged which can be an absolute nightmare for your team if the enemy has a good pilot or two.
As a dedicated Wildcat player whose sick of getting rekt by enemy helos and jets, I really appreciate you for this. But as you said the main purpose for this vehicle is to combat enemy air attacks, so I’ll stick with AA missiles for my secondary. I usually shoot the first AA missile to trigger their flares, any good pilots will know they have to retreat after using their flares so this will help your team from constantly getting harassed by the pilots. combined with the 30mm this will pushback those pilots and your team can move forward, rinse and repeat. As for fighting ground vehicles you only have one option, run! Lol!
To me, the AA missiles are just not worth it since it just makes them run, but I want them to get close to me so I can shred them with the 30mm. With the AT missiles, you can actually have a way to combat armour. Definitely use what works for you, but this is my reasoning :D I appreciate your comment! Thanks!
With the 60 mm mortar, I found that if you go aim via the mini map you can find the max range with the correct mini map scale and work your way in from there to precisely aim at marked enemies
Maybe I am missing something here. Could you explain what you mean when you say aim with the mini map. Is there something that shows you where your shots landed with the mortar?
@@marzipandan767 he mean like you just checking the minimap and trying to land your shots over that direction. I'm usually having near 70%/30% success rate with that, it's just a matter of getting used to mortar's projectile trajectory.
As a jet player ill tell you the most valuable thing he says in this video is that 30mm canons and anti-tank missiles are the way to go. A wildcat peppering me for even 20 damage per strafe from the 30mm is alot more frustrating to deal with than some wildcat noob sat on a hill letting me flare both his missiles in tandem on a pass. It really just boils down to the fact that it takes like 12 seconds to get your flares back but like 30 seconds to get 20 health back. And if you get spotted by even a decent pilot being a sitting duck AA noob youre gonna catch the next pair of AGMs just for being annoying.
Thanks man, it's good to have good pilots chime in on this so that people can see both sides of this. I fly choppers decently from time to time, and I agree that AA missiles are 95 percent of the time useless. Also, Jets are super vulnerable to the 30mm cannons you can wipe them out in one pass. I appreciate the comment!
@@marzipandan767h those 30mms are a nightmare, need a perfect angle strafe without ever showing the jets belly if I dont wanna get swiss cheesed by that shit. Will say that the only time the AA missiles are actually a deterence is when I want to take a dogfight with the enemy jet if its too close to its wildcat, gives me like a 15 second window to win the dogfight and get out which isnt always possible if the jet is flying too low or if the pilot is actually any good. So if ur jet player is struggling in dogfight u can basically act as a safe zone for him to fly low in, other than that, I love hearing that missile incoming beep. Dont worry tho even tho I hate you wildcat fellas more than anything else in the world (rail tanks close behind) im giving honest advice.
@bowaster57 Oh yeah, getting targeted while dogfighting is death most of the time! I dabble in everything, I wouldn't say I'm a Wildcat guy, a chopper guy, or an infantry guy, I'm a battlefield guy 😎 The wildcats can't look up, so if you really wanna get them, then come in from above!
Thanks man! I appreciate your comment! Glad to see someone else catching on here. I'm always sad seeing my wildcat teammate using AA missiles against a chopper that is really close, instead of just melting them with the 30mm guns.
I love playing anti-tank/aircraft on foot. I love when a guy camps his tank as I will work the map just for a kill. Dropping the minigun and annoying a tank is so much fun. Any time I can change how someone is playing is a win for me.
just one correction, if you loose the vehicle with c5 stuck to it you can set it off with an emp grenades, note this also works in stealing kills from teammates
You definitely can destroy it to kill the vehicle. I agree a emp grenade would be the best bet, but if you don't have those equipped and you are unable to aim and shoot the C5 in time you will still lose your vehicle. It's a massive risk to play just to save your life.
Random tip Run the 20mm flak cannon on the lil recon car If the enemy is dominating with air, this maneuverable thing can deal nasty damage to cocky pilots. Major weaknesses are its short range and minimal armor. However, most heli pilots won’t expect a flak cannon on top of the recon vehicle, so you can give them a nasty surprise
I love the wildcat. I'm glad I helped you discover it! Hope you enjoy beaming those aircraft out of the sky. I've been running the barrage missiles as the second seat lately, and they have been working really well for my and my teammates on them. I don't think I gave them a fair shot here. I'd recommend trying them out!
Another great vid, keep it up. Knowledge is power! Good point about seat switching. I often do it as a passenger (e.g. when waiting for a weapon to reload or to do periodic proximity scans) but now I'll keep it in mind as a driver as well. Would be interested to see a video on MBTs and their role. I feel like they're now 'heavier', more focused on anti-armour and you need a decent crew to unleash their full potential (less one-man-army compared to tanks up to BF4). The EBLC-Ram seems like more of a hybrid of IFV / previous MBTs with more anti-infantry capability and less dependence on crew.
Thanks, I really appreciate it! Yeah, jumping to the proximity scanner, especially when you suspect you have enemies sneaking around. The pods are massively underrated, and it is definitely more fun than the second seat options imo. MBTs are definitely a specialty of mine. I'll put it on the list. The RAM is something that I genuinely suck with, I've seen players absolutely wreck in them, but me I just can't stay alive.
Love taking down wanna be aces with this setup, this is the exact setup I use with my squad and we get loads of abuse, makes my day so much better, blasco Irish Crawford are a must
Melting a chopper or jet with the 30mm guns is so satisfying! I always forget that Blasco's deployable blocks locks, because 95% of the time I see it deployed on a point being used to block infantry maps instead of deployed around vehicles.
I bought the game about a week ago, on my second game i hopped in a wildcat, we were in the tunnel on exposure on the new push mode and they were all packed tight inside defending the very last point. i found myself in the third seat manning a mortar pod, my KD on my profile was 46 for a very short time, that pod is crazy.
It's so good, it deletes anyone it hits. Enjoy it on the wildcat while it lasts. They are updating the game, so it won't be available on the wildcat. I'm not sure what it will still be on, hopefully the MBT and the MAV... who knows! Thanks for commenting!
Nice video. I echo the comments about movement, for any vehicle really. Particularly for fast vehicles like the Wildcat, movement and speed are your armor frankly.
2:08 lis, rao, m5, stinger, railgun tank, dart gun, cav brawler, Flak pod on mav, Transport 50mm, TOW on Tanks and hovercraft/ bolte, jets with 25mm or lock ons.. yeah i see... no counters. The wildcat is way to op. Not in damage but the range of 800m is just wild.
But anything further than 100m the 30mm cannons start to do way less damage due to the spread on them. Up close you'll get shredded, but at a distance your chopper/jet will be fine.
I'm glad that you enjoyed it! It's a blast when you can get used to the 30mm cannons! But man, if you can be good in the MAV, you should be fine. That thing is a beast, but I suck with it. Just remember you can't take as many shots, so use your increased maneuverability to pull back when you need to. Good luck!
I'll work on it. The vehicle guides take a bit more for me since I need to get the vehicles, which is something I can't guarantee, but I'll get to it :D Thanks for commenting!
One way that tick most of yours "do not" and, at least for me, is extremely effective is what I like to call "Area Denial" setup. 30mm, with AA missile and camp in a open area for air vehicles. But the most important is Blasco. Put her jammer and TUGS, basically impossible for Nightbird or Jets to destroy you. For stronger helicopers you'll need to use 1 AA missile, keeping them away and they can only use dumb fire rockets from far. Cocky and new players will try to rush, experienced players will avoid your location and/or been pinned down behind some structure. The strategy here is to win by exhaustion, usually after a few minutes they just gave up and leave the server. However this setup only works in narrow maps, specially when defending in breakthrough or if you want to destroy one very good anoying aircraft. This is a really bad player b*tchy move, but works.
Actually a really good wildcat video, well done. I mostly use air vehicles such as the attack helis or jets when I'm playing vehicles and haven't used the wildcat for ages. I used to have the 57mm and agms as my loadout but that was before they nerfed the damage against armour on them, couldn't agree more that sams are useless I love wildcats camping with them near spawn too lol. I also use the missile barrage option but I might switch the hmg to the grenade pod because randoms will only stay if it's easy
Thanks, I appreciate your kind words! The missile barrage is really good, but most people think it's good against armour since it feels like that is what it is made for, so you get a lot of people not using it against infantry, which is its true target. If people understood that consistently it could be a better pick than the grenade launcher.
I’d say for the meanwhile you are unlocking AT missiles the AA missiles aren’t that bad anymore, if you get the aircraft to flare and they are bold to come back, you can connect 2 rockets and they are good as done with the range and damage they do now, but it’s better having a versatile kit than full AA load out
I will say that if you are going to use the AA missiles, try to bait out the flares before firing your missiles. If you are playing against a newer pilot, they might flare as soon as they see the lock warning. Then if they don't manage or attempt to fly away while their flares run out, because you didn't waste that missile you should have two chambered to hopefully get an instant kill (on all but the transport choppers.). But if you are against a better pilot they will wait to see the 'Missile Incoming' warning then you'll have to fire a missile to bait out their flares, in which case you will not be able to kill them with the AA missiles, since you'll only have one chambered. I personally think it is better to focus on getting more consistent with the 30mm guns. I agree more versatility is best :) Thanks for commenting!
according to the scoreboard AA missiles do absolutely work, your "job" as a wildcat is not to kill but to prevent pilots from killing your teammates. If you get a highground the only place where jets and copters can hide is outside the area where they could be pressuring your teammates, they'll try to flare and run, it's fine, you just wait, they'll have to either run and return and immediately get locked-on, or target you then it's a fair 1x1 who's a better player. AA missile reload speed is really fast, way faster then flare reload, I can make 3 aircrafts flare almost simultaneously, and by the time they return i can do it again.I don't remember how's the mode called but the one with a lot of vehicles and aircrafts, so i got to play it on the desert map and it shows that it's possible to deal with up to 5 aircrafts at once, it was really close especially when you get targeted by 2 copters at the same so you have to aim at the pilots but even this is doable, so regular conquest 64/128 is fine. And i was doing it like 40 hours into the game imagine practicing. It probably looks like i'm flexing lol but this how i actually feel because i was really surprised when you said that aa's are bad. Video is great!
My reasoning comes from the fact that I am a frequent chopper and jet pilot. I would say in choppers, I'm hit by probably 1 in 20 AA missiles and in jets, probably 1 in 10. Since you need more than one AA missile to hit me, I'm pretty much guaranteed to never die to AA missiles. However Wildcat users who move around and are good with the main cannons can, and do, absolutely scare the crap out of me as I know they are a very massive threat and a common end to my runs when they are in my games. Being a deterent is fine, but being able to down them is much more valuable. If the AA missiles work for you, then you should absolutely keep using them. But from my experience, I get much more done with the main cannons and the AT missiles. Thanks for the comment :) I'm glad you liked the video!
Good video, thank you! Unfortunately, the Wildcat poses no threat even to the average pilot, when they know, who to use the terrain. Duck for cover, repair and attack again. If the planes or helicopters aren´t damaged before, the 40 Cal can´t take them down in one run before overheating. Overall, the anti-air measures in BF 2042 are far too weak. This completely messes up the balance of the game. Especially on Breakthrough, when the defending team can't pick a Wildcat. The Hind and the Condor with two repair guys are flying fortresses with nearly no chances, to take them down as an pioneer.
Thanks for commenting! You can take out a transport chopper even with repairs on it. The key is to burst your 30mm cannons, and you need to make sure you start your shots when the chopper is up close if you do it at too far a range you won't deal enough damage, they will get away and know to stay away from you. You also need to be moving around the map. Staying in one position will mean that you won't get the opportunity to get close to them.
@@marzipandan767yeah but even then if that Jet/helicopter player have a lot of skill your efforts mean nothing cause it just retreat damage you and others will finish you off.
Bro the flak pod is broken. I wish the community would hurry up and figure it out. Once you get it, you can hit anything. AA flak on the RAM is a nightbirds nightmare.
It's great close range, but at far range, it's too difficult to lead. I have it currently equipped to help counter nightbird sweats who rush your wildcat and circle strafe with ATGMs. A good pilot will keep you at far range once they know you are using it.
Don't feel bad about that. Those were some of the best times. It seems like there are a lot of newer players that still struggle with this stuff, so I'm hoping to teach them! Thanks for commenting.
Oh man I definitely recommend trying out all aspects of Battlefield! The infantry experience is great, but being able to mix it up by just jumping in a tank can be a refreshing experience. I love how everything interacts in this game and I truly think that this is what makes this franchise so great :D Thanks for commenting!
Man this video is so classic that RAM and Wildcat still share the same slot... ...wait this video is posted 5 months ago. When dafuq did RAM got moved to heavy armor?
Shortly after I posted this, the Wildcat lost its 50mm and got the 35mm cannons, and they rescrambled the vehicles into their current categories. I still think the RAM doesn't belong in that slot...
@@marzipandan767 Yeah, it do feel hard to decide where RAM belong. Since it feels so different compared to the 2 actual tanks. Also what do you think about the 35mm cannons? Still prefer 30mm?
I definitely think that the AA missiles are holding people back from getting really good with the 30mm's. With a little practice you'll be tearing through choppers. Let me know how it goes! Good luck!
Did you know! That you can lock your cannon in one direction towards say your enemies... But turn the camera around to look while you are shooting to protect your retreat or just to cover an angle as you look around.
@@GalacticAbsurdity Played around with it today, you are 100 percent correct, I can't believe I haven't been using this already. It lets you stay focused on a target while getting an idea of your surroundings! Thanks so much for point this out!

If you deal enough damage to choppers, you can pretty much guarantee they will avoid the location. And then if you push them, you can pretty much guarantee the kill. Melting aircraft with the 30mm cannons is just so fun :D Thanks for commenting!
Thanks man I appreciate it :D It's too frustrating when you have a really good pilot wrecking your team because your teammate who took the wildcat decided they want to focus on farming infantry.
I hate vehicle camping so much... I think the TORs design was a big mistake for Dice since it promotes a camping gameplay style. I personally don't think it is okay, but I 100% understand why people do it.
To be fair, me and a mate had a game where he was controlling a heli and I was shooting, we basically carried the entire game from a "oh no, this is defo a lost game" to a "oh wow, we turned it around" whilst we were supporting from air our team actually managed to capture points and outright outgun the enemy, they had trouble here and there with some vehicles, but some of the other players decided to just go full on "kill this guy" mode and actually focused him out, went from a game with like +50 tickets to us winning within 15 mins after that. They did have a lot of Lis players, but my mate is crazy good with helicopters, he doesn't even main it properly, but he knows how to juke and handle it, we just went in and killed them whenever I had ammunition for it. Helicopters are definitely so hard to counter, if the pilot and maybe +2 others in the same heli knows what to do.
Choppers can be absolutely devastating in the right hands. Having a good run with a friend is a blast :D When enemy aircraft players are controlling the game like this, you need to have people roll out the AA, Lis, Wildcat, and TOR. Otherwise, your team is going to get wrecked.
I really like the AA missiles because 80% of air targets seem to pop flares if you keep locked on to them for a slightly longer period of time allowing for a easy 2 missiles when the flares are gone they think it is a soflam or something. You could also fire one missile when they are headed in your direction and then swap to the 30 to plink at them then swap back and fire two missiles as they reload somewhat fast. I would say I get put up against good pilots maybe 1 in 10 games even the new aa on the Recon is pretty good at confusing pilots.
I wouldn't say that I am a great pilot, but I know that I shouldn't deploy flares until I see that 'Missile Incoming' warning, and as soon as I do pop them, I need to move quickly to find somewhere safe to recover them. Plus, if you are depending on AA missiles frequently, then you aren't practicing with the cannons so when you come up against a good pilot you are going to get crushed. But this is just my opinion, if AA missiles work for you then go for it :)
I use EBAA for planes and helis but I do use AA. I play them out tho, Ill only shoot one, they flare, then shred a bit with the cannon then pop 2 more AA missiles and guaranteed kill on anything.
Definitely, but it's a big gamble just to save your life. If you aren't able to make that shot your vehicle just got knicked and you are probably pretty dead xD
After watching this I’ve gone into solo mode to grind out the required weapons. The main issue is it takes a LONG time using the wildcat to make it more survivable against land vehicles. I’m getting tired of people not using any AA to at least scare away annoying nightbird or transport chopper users.
It is certainly rough when you are playing against some really good pilots and your AA tank is just completely ignoring them. It's definitely rough until you can get the AT missiles, once you do you should be set. The Pods take a while to unlock but they aren't completely necessary. Good luck with the grind! I hope it isn't too bad! Thanks for commenting!
@@marzipandan767 Just an update, I’ve now been using the wildcat with pretty much the loadout you mentioned and it’s been really good helping the team out. The only thing I need to work on is moving away more often to stop getting C5d outside my FOV, even in 3rd person. Will you update this guide when they add the new 35mm AA cannons in S5?
@Goldendroid glad to hear it's been working. C5 is a massive threat. Push slowly and try not to get ahead of your team. You'll get better with time. Yeah, it will depend on whether it will be worth it. I'm excited to try it, but I might not be able to make a full video about it 😆 Thanks for following up!
I watched a Japanese streamer (Umeboshi) who just explained very ruogh. And now I know which one is better and why. looking forward to other vehicle (I began on March from PlayStation Free play, so still killing AI to unlock vehicle weapon)
I only hunt aircraft with wildcat. I will talk about why I chose AA missile. For AA missile always assumes the aircraft have flare and just fire one missile. By the time after they finish use up their flare for that one missile your have fired, you have enough time for the missile to reload and thus you can fire 2 aa missile without mush worries
As a decent pilot, what I do is when I flare I immediately back off and try to find a safe place to wait for my flares to recover! Since I also know which direction the missile came from, I know to specifically move away from that location to increase the chance that I move out of range of any follow up. Against newer pilots, your AA missile will work perfectly, but against people who know what they are doing, the players who are going to mess your team up, I don't think AA missiles have a chance. If they work for you, keep doing what you are doing! That's just how I feel :) Thanks for commenting!
i love these videos, the enemy team will switch to deal with you. My team: engineer is dumb and useless, ill just shoot the tank with my AR. Also the AA missiles being a deterrent is the understatement of the century. They need to rename them Air Area Denial missiles or HERE I AM missiles lol. I definitely like the wildcat and i think if you have a team mate who is there to help support you in it, the wildcat is a really good vehicle all around for everything.
Thanks Travis! I appreciate you commenting and I am very happy you enjoyed it! I was surprised how well I was doing as soon as I switched to the AT missiles, those things are lethal! Being able to manage the skies and the ground is so much fun. I really dislike the AA missiles in this game. I feel like I need to yell to the world that they are holding people back from getting good with the stuff that actually works!
I still think that the 30mm is the best bet for dealing with aircraft. The 35mm has the same problem as the other cannons did. They do so much more damage, but once you hit a chopper, they are immediately going to start to evade and put some distance between you and them. Then you are stuck trying to get the last hit in with a weapon with a pretty slow travel time, which is very difficult. The 35mm can shred if they get too close, and you can kill them before they can react but the 30mm is more consistent for me, because even if I don't have that perfect barrage, I can kill them as they fly away. I do need to play with the 35mms more to determine if this is just a skill issue on my end...
While I mostly agree with AT vs AA missiles deal I really don't find the AAs to be as bad as you say. Most people I target with them either flare instantly or by just shooting 1 of the 2 missiles. By the time they can be targeted again they are mostly still in range but think that you fired both AAs so the 1 you shot is actually already reloaded ready to finish them off. This of course doesn't work as well with jets but luring them in by using your own air vehicles as bait tends to solve it unless the pilot actually senses what is targeting him
Against newer pilots, I agree, but anyone who has flew for a while knows that you should never countermeasure until you see the 'Missile Incoming' warning. My main issue is that if you focus on expecting these AA missiles to be your main source of AA, then you aren't going to get better with the 30mm cannons, so when you come up against better pilots and you are still expecting successful results from the AA missiles you are going to have a bad time. Flying well in this game is hard and people are only getting better and better at it. We need people to also be getting better with the counters. I mean you should definitely play with whatever works for you and whatever you find fun. This is just my view on things. I appreciate the comment Valdemar! Thanks :)
@Muhammad-re4wk I actually made a video comparing the 35mm and the 30mms. :) I equipped APS on the wildcat as soon as I unlocked it. 100 percent better than the repair, and makes you an absolutely dominant force.
I remember going head to head against MBT in my Wildcat and winning, maybe it was just the launch versions of both, good times. Can you still lock on without line of sight then? I remember that they nerfed the Rao hack at least...
You can definitely still 1v1 a MBT with a wildcat and win, the advantage is with the MBT but I've done it plenty of times. AT missiles are the key. You can lock on without line of sight using the AT missiles when the target is designated with a Rao hack, a Tracer Dart or the Soflam.
What’s your opinion on the new 35MM dual guns? Personally I get it leans towards a heli killer role, but it feels inflexible at times such as either the velocity or effective range makes it hard to try and fight helis past 350 meters to try to get some chip damage or even hit them at the right range but you have to lead shots crazy far ahead. It doesn’t help the turret rotation is slower than the 30mm and so can leave you open to dying to NB circle strafes you to death with AGMs/20mm
I completely agree with your assessment. Once choppers or jets begin to flee getting those last hits on them with the 35mm becomes very difficult. I need to play with them more, but I went back to the 30mm a while ago. Specifically, I want to check how good they are against the gunships since they are much easier to hit. Honestly even the 30mm cannon has trouble with good Nightbird pilots doing the circle strafes, in those situations I'll hop onto the flak pod since it can absolutely chunk them, and they are close enough that you'll have no trouble hitting them with the flaks.
@@marzipandan767yeah agreed, I’ll try the 35mm again and maybe equip the Flak pod again since I changed it to something else because it feels weird now that it seems to do the most damage at a certain range when it air bursts and not direct impact, and the other pods were better when I have another gunner
Getting hit by this is really intimidating when you are in a chopper. It's hard to see the shot since the flak is what deals the damage since it doesn't need to hit you directly, and it absolutely chunks your health out of nowhere. I would have been best able to kill them with the 30mm here but was trying to show the effectiveness of the AA Flak pod. Thanks for commenting :)
I disagree with the 60mm mortar pod about its range. It doesn't have limited range, but way more range than it should have. Without high ground it's maximum range is about 150m. The mortar pod is definitely one of my favourite and most fun weapons in the game, because it's way too strong and people don't realize this. You can even get aircraft kills quite easily, especially against transport helicopters. Enemy tanks can do close to nothing about it, since hiding behind cover won't give them cover from this weapon.
I guess my main point about the range is that to be accurate, you need to be close. At further ranges, you need to be good at mastering that arc in order to get hits, and the velocity is so slow that often your target has a chance to move out of the way of your shot. I agree it's an absolute powerhouse, and it is so fun. It's still worth using and is usually my go-to pod.
@@marzipandan767 Yeah I see. Takes some getting used to the arc, but now I'm quite confident at hitting targets just by looking at the map, it feels too good.
Also, what do you think loadouts now should be like? Because a lot of the good weapon pods got removed, and 35mm AA got added... I assume something like, 30mm AA, AT missile, 40mm Grenade Launcher, and 40mm Canister Shot Pod? This way, seat 3 can fight infantry better, while seat 2 can fight armor? If I really want to run Thermal HMG on seat 2... then what should seat 3 do? Is the Kinetic Grenade Pod a thing?
I still think the 30mm is the best because the 35mm gets really hard to hit when choppers start evading. The 35mm can absolutely wreck choppers up close, but at further distances, it becomes quite impossible to use. I have the barrage missiles on right now, I think I quite underrated them. The only annoying thing is that too many people try to only use them on vehicles when they are really anti-infantry. And the flak pod because I've been frequently being harassed by close-range nightbirds. But the canister pod is really good too. I would avoid the kinetic grenade pod. It's really bad out in the open. Honestly, the only seat that can fight armour on the wildcat is the main seat with the AT missiles, which is why they are so important. The 40mm grenades don't do too much to vehicles.
I can't say I can relate to that, I had lots of trouble hitting nightbirds and stealths with it. But definitely enjoy it while it lasts. Dice is replacing the 57mm with a new 35mm anti air weapon, it will be interesting to see what it plays like! Thanks for commenting!
I like pininged them woth rader and waiting till they deploy flares then launch both missiles and then light em up with the 37s its a mean move but it works
I never deploy flares until I see the missile incoming, and I from my experience with the AA missiles, most pilots do the same. Why not just shred them with the 30mms?
5:07 U can take out aircraft with the AA missiles. Don't fire both at the same time, fire 1,wait for flares and if they flare, u will have both ur missiles back once the flares run out then fire both then they're fucked or if u don't see flares, fire 1, wait to see if they flared or not then fire the other
That's exactly what I tried to do, and it failed. My issue with the AA missiles is that you are expecting the pilot to mess up. Good pilots retreat to cover once they have popped their flares so that they can wait for them to recharge. If you instead learn to use the 30mm, then you are putting all of the kill dependence on you and your skill.
Nope but it is on my todo list. The tanks are much harder to work with since they are so slow and cumbersome. I've got to figure out the strategies first :P
It's decent. It's really good at close range, you can kill a chopper before it knows what is happening, but if they evade or put some distance between your wildcat and them then you are going to have a really hard time killing them since the shots take so long to travel to their targets and anticipating where to shoot is really difficult. Personally, I stick with the 30mm guns, but I have been playing around with the 35mms lately to see if it is something that is a skill issue!
I liked using the 57mm against infantry when I was hitting my direct hits, but against aircraft, it is a miserable experience. It's definitely cool of you to switch it up instead of just ignoring the need of your team.
I don't understand why this no option to equip the 40 and 57mm cannons with airburst proximity rounds like with 20mm weapon station on the APC. That way it's still effective against air targets because you don't need a direct hit on your target.
For an AA loadout its really solid but I do oftentimes go with a ground brawler loadout most often times with the wildcat but thats usually only after a bit in match and see that we have competent pilots. Though even if I decide I should go for AA I do still prefer the 57mm
I wasn't having any luck with the 57mm against aircraft, in fact when I was noticed by them, I usually ended up dead. Any tips with using it against Nightbirds or Stealths?
@Marzipan Dan when using the 57mm it all about placement and picking your fights (as well as being accurate, it isnt always the easiest thing to use). The 57 is definitely meant for brawling other ground vics and not straight up duels with the main battle tanks of each faction (though if you are skilled enough you can totally duel an MBT and win). As for air targets your best use of the 57 will be helios. The AH-6s are absolutely your worst enemy when using the 57mm that's where the SAMs help, like you said the SAMs aren't super great because heilos and jets just flare or get the hell out of dodge but alot of night bird pilots like to think they are that guy and will chaff and keep engaging you. Just switch back to the 57mm and try your best to hit him but mainly you want to bait out the chaff and flares with the first SAM and get hits after you can re-aquire lock and send him a back to God as the SAMs reload relatively quickly and you don't want to wait so long that he can flare again. If the AH-6 runs and flares after you lock the first time then disengage and reposition. As for stealths they need to be out of stealth mode to use AGMs and smart missiles so just lock and spook them off if they stay its the same general rules for dueling the AH-6 wait for when you can re-acquire lock and send him to God but since the stealths are slower and need to level thier bird to get lock for AGMs hit him with the 57 a few hits is enough to scare most pilots if they get a lock from you or anyone else. Another tip for using the 57 in conjunction with the SAMs as your secondary is to be hyper vigilant about your air targets and making sure to pay attention to when they flare and it was cause someone else locked them cause then you can skip wasting a missle on baiting out flares. 57mm definitely isn't for everyone and that's fine but God does it feel good when you are good with it. It isn't necessary but it helps if you have squadmates you can comm with and coordinate especially if they run soflam or darts which is what I do for my buddies and team. I always try to keep air shit painted cause I know flares are super annoying and most often then not pilots will flare after getting painted with soflam despite not having any missiles launched yet.
I'll maybe do one for the MBT, the TOR is... well I just think it's a vehicle which promotes a bad game style, I'd probably pass on that one. I've got a couple of things in the works. The problem with vehicle guides is that it is not every game I can even get one, so getting good clips is difficult. Thankfully the wildcat is pretty underrated so it's probably the easiest to snag from the deploy screen.
Is that definitely true? It absolutely feels like when the enemy aircraft is much further away, it takes a lot less damage, and I get that might be because fewer rounds are hitting due to the spread, but my intuition is that there is also drop off.
I figured out the 37mm are just the best. The others don’t do enough damage to anything to make up for the sheer amount of unavoidable damage they do to aircraft. They are also good at finishing off tanks at low health, or just keeping them from being repaired. Edit: The tip about bailing needs to be preached from mountain tops. I have been in so many games with people who seem to spawn in vehicles just to abandon them at some point, and then complain about the enemy team having more tanks than we do. I’ve seen just as many Russian Condors as American ones. STOP WASTING VEHICLES!
Oh my god it is so annoying when you see your opponents have all of the transport choppers on the map. And 90% of the time these stolen choppers were spawned by players who have never flown before, they hover around, get bored then bail out leaving them to be easily stolen. (You can usually tell since they only have the flares unlocked.) Thanks for commenting :D
The anti aircraft missles are the best to use because most pilots are greedy. Target with 1, get the deploy and then shoot the 2nd when they have no chaff.
I think good pilots retreat right before their flares run out, so hitting them with the second doesn't usually happen. And if you do hit them with one, it won't kill them since you need 2 to kill, so they will just fly away and repair. I genuinely think that using the AA missiles is holding people back from getting really good with the 30mm guns. Pilots are just going to keep getting better, so if players who play the counters don't work on that, then the game will be dominated by aircraft players.
should have let me repair kills me hahahahahah
You might be the first and only person to notice this since it goes by so fast. Thanks for appreciating this accidental Easter egg 😆
I'm surprised y'all are finding matches. I'm on xb1 and whenever I play I can only find servers with 11 players max in them...
@@kingdarkemyour issue might be that your settings don’t allow you to crossplay. I prefer AA missiles to trigger the filters but I don't fire missiles. Once the flare is gone then I fire the two missiles....boom!
If you fire one of them and they flare, the second will reload by the time the flares are finished and you can land 2 shots
This only Works in bad pilots. When A good pilot use flare, he Will run for cover. And get back when flares UP again

@@marzipandan767 what abt the new 35mm cannon?
@@marzipandan767 yeah the only time I ever got killed by it myself was when it was an ai player

Great vid as ever -- I'm sure a lot of players are going to find it super useful! Fun to watch on the commute :)
I've thought about this, and honestly there's one point I would suggest just perhaps... there's an alternative point of view.
Yeah the commute is all the better when there's a great RUclips drop ;)
congrats again with the channel success!

As a dedicated heli pilot i hate you
As an Armor main here, with most land stuff at T1, I agree with everything here.
Thanks mate, Tip for Noobs, where ever your cannon is pointing is where you will leave the vehicle
Point backwards to get out at the rear, out of the firing line ..
This is a great tip! I will say that sometimes this can be inconsistent. Most of the time, it works as you said, so much so that it is worth doing every time, especially if you need a safe place to repair!
Thanks for putting this!

With a recent update, now our loadout options are:
12.7mm HMG
40mm Grenade Launcher
7.62mm Minigun
Barrage Missile
12.7mm HMG + Thermal
7.62mm Minigun + Thermal
and
40mm Canister Shot Pod
Kinetic Grenade Pod
60mm Flak Pod
I use 12.7 + thermal and 60mm flak pod
Thanks!
🙄
With the 60 mm mortar, I found that if you go aim via the mini map you can find the max range with the correct mini map scale and work your way in from there to precisely aim at marked enemies
Maybe I am missing something here. Could you explain what you mean when you say aim with the mini map. Is there something that shows you where your shots landed with the mortar?
@@marzipandan767 he mean like you just checking the minimap and trying to land your shots over that direction. I'm usually having near 70%/30% success rate with that, it's just a matter of getting used to mortar's projectile trajectory.
@Дмитрий П it seems so! I've just never used the minimap for this purpose.
Awesome bud, subscribed!

All good points. I have been running with the Dual 30mm cannons and the AT missiles for a while as I saw how ineffective the AA missiles were.

Random tip
Run the 20mm flak cannon on the lil recon car
If the enemy is dominating with air, this maneuverable thing can deal nasty damage to cocky pilots. Major weaknesses are its short range and minimal armor. However, most heli pilots won’t expect a flak cannon on top of the recon vehicle, so you can give them a nasty surprise
2nd favorite vehicle after the attack chopper thanks to this video.

This guide is extremely good. Thanks for the tips!

Melting a chopper or jet with the 30mm guns is so satisfying!
I always forget that Blasco's deployable blocks locks, because 95% of the time I see it deployed on a point being used to block infantry maps instead of deployed around vehicles.
🙄
I bought the game about a week ago, on my second game i hopped in a wildcat, we were in the tunnel on exposure on the new push mode and they were all packed tight inside defending the very last point.
i found myself in the third seat manning a mortar pod, my KD on my profile was 46 for a very short time, that pod is crazy.
It's so good, it deletes anyone it hits. Enjoy it on the wildcat while it lasts. They are updating the game, so it won't be available on the wildcat. I'm not sure what it will still be on, hopefully the MBT and the MAV... who knows!

Nice video. I echo the comments about movement, for any vehicle really. Particularly for fast vehicles like the Wildcat, movement and speed are your armor frankly.
Thank man! I appreciate your comment and I completely agree!

Brilliant, this has inspired me to try the Wildcat after extensively running the MAV. Liked and subscribed 👍

Excellent guide!!!
Thanks! I've very happy that you enjoyed it.
OMG I feel old watching your guides as you explain tactics and topics familiar to me from BF3 and BF4.

It's too frustrating when you have a really good pilot wrecking your team because your teammate who took the wildcat decided they want to focus on farming infantry.
TOR is the only vehicle where camping in your spawn is okay, because that’s what it excels at.
I hate vehicle camping so much... I think the TORs design was a big mistake for Dice since it promotes a camping gameplay style. I personally don't think it is okay, but I 100% understand why people do it.
The Tor should've been a tank skin. It was a mistake.
Having a good run with a friend is a blast :D
When enemy aircraft players are controlling the game like this, you need to have people roll out the AA, Lis, Wildcat, and TOR. Otherwise, your team is going to get wrecked.

Thanks for saying so! I am happy that you enjoyed it!
I play only with wildcat 30 mm guns and anti tank rockets it is amazing :D I love it !
Protip, if you bail and they steal your vehicle after they've already put C5 down. Shoot it, it should explode and deal damage to them
Definitely, but it's a big gamble just to save your life. If you aren't able to make that shot your vehicle just got knicked and you are probably pretty dead xD
@@marzipandan767 of course! Hence the term PROtip

I watched a Japanese streamer (Umeboshi) who just explained very ruogh. And now I know which one is better and why. looking forward to other vehicle
(I began on March from PlayStation Free play, so still killing AI to unlock vehicle weapon)
@@marzipandan767 especially those good pilots, it is hard kill

i love these videos, the enemy team will switch to deal with you. My team: engineer is dumb and useless, ill just shoot the tank with my AR.
Very good info and will try right now.... 😊😉💯👍
I think you'll have a good time with it! Let me know how it goes?
With this video being a few months old, would you now recommend the 35mm dual AA cannons as primary over the 30mm dual AA cannons?
Great video. Thanks.
Thanks for commenting! I'm very happy to hear that you enjoyed it!
Thanks :)
Good tips! Same loadout I used to get it to T1 🙂
Nice! Happy to have you keeping the skies clear :)
@Marzipan Dan what do you think about the 35mm and the APS on the wildcat now?
@Muhammad-re4wk I actually made a video comparing the 35mm and the 30mms. :)
I equipped APS on the wildcat as soon as I unlocked it. 100 percent better than the repair, and makes you an absolutely dominant force.
You need line of sight on marked/darted targets with AT missile, else it wont lockon.
Its why dart is considered useless.
6:22 You definitely do not need line of sight; this clip proves it.
With the Javelin what you said is true, but not the AT missiles on the Wildcat.
That nightbird at 11:30: "Fuck this shit, I'm out!!"
Very good guide mate :)
Thanks! I am happy to hear you enjoyed it :D
The best feeling is landing all the shots with the 57mm. Pretty easy on console. 😌
@@marzipandan767 the 37s only have a decent damage unless you draw em in closer once you ping most pilots they try to take you out
Great vid thanks for the tips!!
You are welcome! Thanks for commenting. It's good to know that you enjoyed it!
You can only keep the skies clear for so long before a Sundance with C5 decides to do a check up
Good job, we are playing AA then 😎
This is a no-fly zone!
Great guide! Do you have one regarding tanks?
Nope but it is on my todo list. The tanks are much harder to work with since they are so slow and cumbersome. I've got to figure out the strategies first :P
So now, what do you think of the 35mm? has great range
It's decent. It's really good at close range, you can kill a chopper before it knows what is happening, but if they evade or put some distance between your wildcat and them then you are going to have a really hard time killing them since the shots take so long to travel to their targets and anticipating where to shoot is really difficult.
Personally, I stick with the 30mm guns, but I have been playing around with the 35mms lately to see if it is something that is a skill issue!
did they change all the guns? I almost have none of them
primary weapons are 30mm, 40mm and 35mm armor piercing
Yep! Everything listed in the game is what you have now. They removed a lot of the pods and got rid of the 50mm, and replaced it with the 35mm.
Good tips thanks 👍🏼🍻

I use the 57mm Cannon most of time together with aa missiles.
But if my team struggles with enemy aircrafts i switch to 30mm aa canon and at missiles
Any plans to do a guide for MBT or Tor?
I'll maybe do one for the MBT, the TOR is... well I just think it's a vehicle which promotes a bad game style, I'd probably pass on that one. I've got a couple of things in the works. The problem with vehicle guides is that it is not every game I can even get one, so getting good clips is difficult. Thankfully the wildcat is pretty underrated so it's probably the easiest to snag from the deploy screen.
The 30mm auto cannon actually has zero damage drop off so it's still great at range provided the shots are hitting
Is that definitely true? It absolutely feels like when the enemy aircraft is much further away, it takes a lot less damage, and I get that might be because fewer rounds are hitting due to the spread, but my intuition is that there is also drop off.
@@marzipandan767 yeah they buffed the 30 a while ago to not have damage drop off
@@Frodo_swagginsXThey should revert that if true.
(You can usually tell since they only have the flares unlocked.)
Thanks for commenting :D
