This is something I've been thinking about. I have a single handle with rods that go both directions when it is locked from the outside. I'm thinking of drilling holes in the ends of the rods, then put some pins in the holes. Good work and good video. It's fun to solve problems creatively.
I was going to do something similar w some door chains i already have. Same concept but i felt the door chain was too big & bulky. I might still use them but incorporate the S hook for the latch part.
I bought a snug top as opposed to a leer because I can lock the lock outside, climb in and open and close with the handle from the inside with the lock in lock position.
Thank you for sharing. I have wondered about how you lock up and whether you feel safe. Have you had any experiences where you found yourself concerned about safety at a campsite?
I’m new to your channel and I’ve been wondering what size lift and tires you’re running I have a 2012 1500 and I’m looking to do some off-roading/ camping and your rig is the closest one I’ve been able to find thats set up the way I want to do it
Thanks for watching! The truck has a 5 inch Rough Country lift, a 1.5 inch Zone off road body lift and I'm running 295/75r18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers that are roughly 35s. The lift increases the track width in the front so I have 1.5 inch wheel spacers on the rear.
Would you care to show us or explain how you attached the window shades on the windows? I've been trying to find a way to do it on mine but I can't find a good way for them to stay up over night
Check out the video on my channel called "My Truck Camping setup" I show how I mounted the curtians and there should be a link in the description or the comments for the clips I used. It's really simple! My wife sewed the curtains, lett me know what you think!
While not an easy fix, it seems like the only decent one. I don't want to drill into my truck bed so I might try to attach it to the frame of the topper.
I don't understand why manufacturers don't make these toppers lockable from the inside since so many people are camping/ living in their trucks these days. Anyone want to shed some light on this?
I was always wondering how to lock it when inside. That's a pretty simple way and thanks for sharing. Have a wonderful day my friend.
Thanks, I thought this one over for awhile and this just seemed like the easiest way to do it! Thanks for watching!

@@CrazyQuady thank you very much man
Which episode did you show how you put your curtains in
Macgyver Sharon did a video using this same security over a year ago. She used thicker chain tho.
I'll have to check it out!
Use a small set of vise grips on the railing of the camper shell
Awesome DIY! Thanks for sharing 🤙🏼
Thanks for the quick reply!!! Cool idea!!
Awesome as always
What is the size of your bed?? How tall and width??
The truck bed is 6.5, the sleeping bed is just shorter than that and 24 inches wide. Its built to fit just over the wheel well.
@@CrazyQuady Thank you
What up Crazy Quad
Your Lil Homie
AlienOne 👽
What a great inexpensive idea!
Thanks man!
Good solution. I wondered how safe that was to sleep in. Boondocking?
Thanks, it's much safer now. Boondocking is basically camping in a non-camping spot, on the side of the road, walmart parking lot etc.
Gotcha
Excellent idea.
great idea.
Thanks!

How did you do your curtains in your topper?

Are you in Lincoln?? I am ....
Just outside of Lincoln
Another question answered. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
Good improvising. Still safer in a camper! 😂
I think I just need to get a dog!
Haha! You'll end up with a tail wagger, not a guard dog!
😂 that's a definite possibility
Excellent
Thanks man
Thanks for watching!
Good idea.
Thanks!
No, thank you. I was wondering how to do the same thing.
Thank you for this video.
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
Great solution!

Thanks for watching!

My snug top topper does!
I was hoping you'd find a way to be able to lock yourself in and be more secure.
One little firm tug from the outside and your “lock” is broken. That’s not an actual lock.
