Loved the Nintendo rabbit hole. Was just visiting my parents last week and was able to get my old 1987 NES going. Mike Tyson’s Punch Out was a big hit with my 7-year-old daughter.
Great episode as usual! Thanks to Simon and Sam for joining! I just pulled the trigger on the Tones & Technology ebook. I’m looking forward to diving into it, especially (hopefully) for learning more on integration of midi with DAWs/DAW automation. Thanks for the discount code!
Hello from Brazil. Does Bridge 6 work with Fractal FM3? Do the switchers have the same function as the FM3 (dual function)? Select and hold... Lastly: is it possible to ship to Brazil? Thank you Leon for all the information and discount.
Here's my relay challenge.......🤗 I use a Lexicon Vortex which has no midi. The 16 Presets can be accessed via a footswitch... but only in a step sequence. so 1>2>3.....16>1..... I'd love to find a midi solution to this. I have set up a midi to step but this is no better than and in some ways less efficient than a separate momentary switch. I want to jump from Preset X to Preset Y and so on. The only way I can see this working is that the 1st command is set to reverse the previous 😳.... and so always start at #1 Say I select #6 (starting at #1) 5 momentary signals need to occur. Now I'm on #6.... To select another, say #3 I first need to return to #1 therefore 11 momentary signals need to occur. Then 2 more momentary signals to land on #3. From #3 14 steps to #1 and so on Feel free to tell me I'm dreaming.....
Conversely. The physical similarity to the MC6 simply is going to draw comparison. Like it or not, you have to explain the difference. I've had an MC8 since they came out. It's amazing but the limitations are there too. Also there's the MC6 pro to consider too. It would require a pretty convincing argument to climb back to the surface and start down a new rabbit hole. Looks great.... I'm wandering around your website and Bup Bah.. Editor requires a log in.......🙄
Hey, Sam here. For sure, I completely understand the comparison, nothing wrong with that at all, I was merely explaining the design process. The editor requires a login so that your device profiles and other features are retained and agnostic of the physical device. This was a highly requested feature by users early on so it was driven by user feedback more than anything :)
It does require a login, but it doesn't require a device. There is no "demo mode". It's fully-featured 😊 the login is just for storing profiles under your account as Sam said
@@samspencer4461 Thanks Sam Paint me cynical but everyone seems to require your data. A hint of what's possible, beyond other controllers on the site would maybe tip the balance. I'll think about it.......🤔 When will you have something on the Aux switch. I've been considering a small simple midi controller to act as an extension to the MC8 For context I'm using the MC8 with 6 auxillary switches and a group of unit dedicated switches on the floor to controller a hybrid rack rig with an ES8 and ML10X doing the routing. So yes, considering a controller to control the controller that controls my other controller...🙄 Any thoughts on my 'relay challenge'?
@@simonglover8914 Thanks Simon. It's tough knowing that if company X Y or Z offers you a squillion next week my details and that of everything I own goes to their data base. Old Man Shouting at Clouds.... pun intended...
@@roscius6204 hey again - I know this might not move the needle for you, but in the registration process we don't even ask for your name, so you could use a burner email address of some kind, and as we said all that's ever going to be stored in "our database" is your username, password (that we can't even access) and the config files you store there for your pirate MIDI device. We don't even collect or look at any identifying numbers from your Pirate MIDI hardware!
Hey, Sam here. Nope, there's a ton of differences, many beyond just the physical layout (we use a graphical OLED display for example, and highly visible, full colour RGB LEDs for various functions) such as firmware features, ports, and editor implementations.

This was fantastic!!! I'm so midi-ignorant, great to hear from humble experts!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm an American, but I lived in W.A. for a year and traveled to several other places around Australia. I've no trouble understanding any of you gents.
GREAT episode! It's great to see the nerdy enthusiasm come out

I'm such a Pirate MIDI fan boy, it's great to hear the back story and learn more about Sam and Simon and their motivations!
Great dudes!
I've only just discovered your channel as well! Great stuff, local content for the win.
You're the best ❤
More Auzzy guys making awesome gear! All the power to you! 🙏 Fantastic episode guys, always find hearing how things get started, very inspiring.
More to come!
There's always Google Translate... :P
I don't see no Australians.😶
Ain't no 🗡 to be seen...🤠

Leon, if you could show the features with Fractal FM3...
Yes indeed. I'll have a video with them both soon!
Yep, we've got quite a few FM3 users :)

🤘👍🏿 Thanks for this. About to pop my midi 🍒 with a Pirate MIDI 4, so this has been extremely helpful.
Congrats!
Same as Morningstar? It does look the same.
I asked myself the same question. I want a controller for FM3. It appears that Morningstar does everything necessary to control scenes and effects.
