She had simply accepted the fact that this dog would always be scared of men, always be neurotic, and never be able to play like a normal dog does (it behaved like a cat, quite bizarre). Well, I know that dogs don't live in the past. They live in the present, and if I'm calm and respectful, but let them know I'm in control and that they're safe with me, it isn't hard to form a bond of trust. I'm not really a hunting type person but I really appreciate Brad showing what it entails and the safety you should keep in mind while doing it. This video was really cool. Good job Brad!
The one-shot is an accident, because in the wild, you don't want to get cute just to wound a bird. In competition, I believe they make you reshoot the round. But he is a respectable shot. At one point, he even waited to shoot the bird when it was farther away, so that he didn't obliterate the meat. Still got the clean kill.
My golden retriever,Jiffy was the sweetest thing, just like Brad, although she had a hobby of killing all rabbits/any other small animals that might enter the yard
Hey Brad, I’ve been a hunter / sportsman all my life...I’d like to say, you are an ambassador and a credit to all of us. Appreciate your attention to safety and your appreciation for the wildlife. Good on ya!
Likewise, part of me was worried the "politicals" of guns and hunting would ruin the video. Nope they keep in clean, fun, and about the foods. Good job brad and vinnie!
While one of my favorite parts of "It's Alive" is Vinnie's edits and comments in the videos, I respect that fact that it was kept to a minimum in this video. One of the main reason i watch the show is the post edits, but by keeping them to a minimum and always when the guns are dead on this episode, shows a real respect for the weapon. It shows that gun safety was the paramount point of this video. Well done gentlemen.
I'm pretty sure poor Matt is being put under pressure to produce more content more quickly. Quantity pleases the RUclips Algorithm way more than quality and I think Bon Appetit is trying to get some major growth, but I think they're going to lose viewer loyalty this way and Matt, Brad and Vinny probably won't appreciate it. Just look at how much more quickly these vids are getting produced to compared to when this series first started.
I know I really missed all the visuals! But it’s ok, they won’t lose me as a viewer. Brad is way too hot and charming 😍 and Vinnie loves good boys so I’m helpless
This? This is my childhood right here. This is how my father taught me to hunt, respecting nature, respecting the animals, and being wise about it. And occasionally, unfortunately, cleaning after those who forgot civilisation in the car.
Brad, I have to commend you on your gun safety. I live in the South where guns are pretty prevalent and its amazing to see irresponsible gun owners and hunters. Even though this wasn't a gun safety video, you drove home a lot of great points that I hope others can see as to how guns should be handled and used. Also, I think Elias should be the newest member of you and Vinnys Dream Team
I’m surprised by the comments saying they love the way this video “portrays hunting.” I suppose to those who don’t hunt or have never been around it couldn’t know that this is how hunting really is. This video is not a unique portrayal of two guys who ~happen~ to have these views amidst a majority that doesn’t. I live in Texas & I don’t know a hunter who isn’t this educated, passionate & respectful about hunting. Thank you, BA for showing those who don’t know about hunting how it’s done :)
I am a hunter gatherer from Hawaii. Importing food in very expensive. Cultivating, hunting, shoreline foraging and fishing is a necessity. These traditions has been passed down from generation to generation. In Hawaii we call this "gathering from mauka (mountain) to makai (ocean)". We utilize every edible part of the animal. Nothing goes to waste and the guts, skin and bones are buried. We only catch what we can eat. Freezing meat is a no no in my family.
Well in the PNW, BC, and the Rockies, people still poach animals. And absolutely NO ONE should kill a predator ( wolf, bear, lynx, etc) Those are trophies. Period.
I’m so glad that they went about this so respectfully. They made sure that no animal involved was going to be hurt for sport and that if there was a chance that the bird would survive and suffer they didn’t make the shot. They made sure the dogs were as happy as they could be and cleaned up after themselves (and others smh) leaving the habitat safer for the animals there. I think it’s normal for me to feel kind of upset watching animals be killed but the way they went about it and the way they explained how everything worked and the caution they took to make sure everything was going to be treated with care made me have a much easier time watching and understanding. Even though I don’t enjoy hunting I have a new found respect for it and people who do it with such care. oh jeez I just love brad so much!
*also, after they get the birds they appreciate how beautiful they are and idk why but to me it kind of came across as a thank you to the birds which was sweet.
Do you see how this woman is utterly ignorant of hunting and the care respect that's baked into the activity...virtually nothing is hunted for pure sport except vermin.
This video truly made me change my perspective on hunting. Seeing how responsible and respectful they both were allowed me to consummately understand the draw and love of hunting.
I for one made sure to turn the light switches on and off a minimum of six times whenever they were touched and opened and closed the fridge a minimum of eight times whenever it needed to be engaged. Seems to be working.
So much respect shown for both the animals and firearm safety, I would love to see more videos like this! You make everything so entertaining and educational Brad!
The is the perfect example of what real hunting is. Going out to harvest in a clean, ethical manner, practicing the utmost safety measures and being completely respectful of the conservation of the preserve and these animals. 15/10
I'm really not into hunting nor guns but I really appreciate the episode for advocating mindful and ethical hunting and setting example for everyone. Also I wanna p a t Leather and Utah such gorgeous boys doing their job well! Also glad Elias is back!
I know I'm a year out, but you should go shooting at a local range or something. Maybe you have, but a lot of people that arent into guns have no experience with them. It's a fun skill to learn.
At first I thought the pickles episode was my favorite, then they come out with the clam, then the mustard, then the mushrooming, and now this. Let's just get Brad a show and call it, "Brad Does Stuff and Talks with Vinny."
B & B Machinery Co Oh man, don’t forget the chocolate! And the teeny tiny doggo on the farm, Jimmy & the donkey, Brad failing to open cacao pods... Ugh, every video of It’s Alive is just gold
Hunting for your own meat will always be the most ethical way to consume meat. Sport hunting, on the other hand, is nonsense. Thank you for the informative video with an emphasis on ethics and safety!!
Just to be clear, this is sport hunting. They're hunting for fun on a reserve. They don't need to kill that animal to survive, it's a leisure activity.
@@Fhshaoaksbd that may be true but we are considered omnivores and as brad said here its way more fair here in the wild. if they get away they get away. just like the predator and prey relation ship in the wild.
Calic Tolentino we’re omnivores by choice and because we’re culturated from birth to do so. Choosing to maintain an archaic “sport” like hunting for choice is unethical. Hunting for survival is a different case but that’s not what’s happening here.
@@Fhshaoaksbd umm no the fact that we have omnivore teethe. (Mixture of flat and sharp teeth) means its embedded in our genetic codes. Also hunting like this for food is better for the environment than industrialization of animals. You kill what you need, No food waste, and also animal industry is also biggest contributor to greenhouse gasses, by hunting like this were just killing whats already in the wild (and this type of hunting is also controlled by people who run preserves) instead mass production of animals and mistreating them too.
Only brad could make a video about hunting that a long time vegetarian like me could agree with and enjoy watching lolll I’ll never understand killing animals for fun but I do understand wanting higher quality food and totally stand on the same side about processed mass manufactured meat. Also always here for videos featuring Good Boys like Leather and Utah!
Most hunters that I know are like these guys. It's about being connected to your food. I've hunted on and off throughout my life but I've never had any interest in trophy hunting.
Few hunters do it for purely killing. Even some big trophy hunts are for the memories and experiences, and to help protect endangered animals. (Trophy hunts cost large amounts of money, in many cases the prey is old and sick, and the money is used for animal conservation)
@@jonathankatona8673 I mean no disrespect to hunters! I'm personally not comfortable killing or eating animals, and don't enjoy being around guns, but I'm thankful for those who play an essential part in maintaining stable ecosystems for wildlife.
You should go over to Meat Eater TV Steven Rinella has the utmost respect for animals and vegans comment on his videos all the time agreeing with what he does
Really appreciate everything touched on in this episode. Talking about gun safety, picking up after others (and yourselves), doing your best to give the birds all a quick and clean death, and also letting the dogs have fun and using positive reinforcement type training. This was a great episode all around.
I appreciate how they clean up all of their shells. I went target hunting for the firt time and I was so upset by the amount of shell casings on the ground, I spent more time picking them up than I did shooting. I picked up at least 500 metal and shot gun casings that would've been so easy to clean up as you shot. People need to have as much respect as they do while hunting.
It's especially important when the ground you're hunting on is only hunting ground for the season. I've hunted in fields were cows graze (they were moved to other fields of course while we hunted) and people just leave shells. My dad and I always pick up any shells we see but it must be annoying to the landowners
I wouldn't expect anything less from Vinny and Brad, but thank you guys for being so responsible, and respectful to the whole process. The gun safety, the respect for the animals, the responsibility you guys take for other shithead people, the time spend with friends or family while hunting, the doggos, I truly love you guys. My husband and I can't wait to go hunting soon!
They will sneak up on animals and point as well. I have two German Wirehaired Pointers, but we don't hunt (I do shooting competitions and firearms are part of our family history) and have not trained them, yet they hunt lizards, birds, and even garden snails. One of them caught our bird when it got out of the cage, but they were told to drop it and did, without hurting it. They are very smart and very driven. I have a photo of the two dogs and one of the cats all lined up and stalking doves in the grass. Luckily, none of them have caught the birds. The dogs play with balls and frisbees everyday to burn up energy and scratch that itch to do what they were bred for.
I thought I'd have a problem watching a hunting video, but as always Brad, Vinny and his buds always make it the most educational and entertaining version it can be. Respect for the environment and the animal is such a great message to hear being spread. Can't wait to see how to cook these beautiful birds in part 2
I think too few people hear or see this message delivered. I'm really glad that BA brought this episode to us. Kudos to Brad, Vinny and everyone at BA.
You can be that person! Love yourself, love your job, love where you live, love your family, love what you pour your energy into! You are the master of your own destiny and you can only brighten other people's worlds with that mentality. We need more of that these days, I think.
This literally warmed my heart so much, as a girl who grew up with hunting dogs this made me so happy to see those dogs having the time of their lives. Thank you so much for putting this forward and resecting not only the dogs, but hunting and gun safety.
Brad: This would be so hard without dogs... Elias: Yeah, imagine the exercise... pssshhh... disgusting. Yep, I knew it... Elias is my spirit animal. 😌😌😌
@@learner18 When it comes to guns, the media is absolutely to blame. They'd have you believe that most gun violence is committed with scary black rifles (less than 2%), that mass shootings are on the rise (they're less common now than ever before), and that most of those mass shootings are done with AR-15s (when handguns and shotguns are by FAR the most common weapons used). The media, in this regard, is 100% to blame. They sell fear and it works.

@@garavin it's not too different, if you're hunting wild it's very similar to this. I'm not really a hunting type person but I really appreciate Brad showing what it entails and the safety you should keep in mind while doing it. This video was really cool. Good job Brad!
brad never finishes what he's trying to say he just starts a new thought 3/4 of the way through the last one

the knowledge that brad, the softest human golden retriever on youtube, is a crackshot with a gun who can one-shot two clay birds, gave me whiplash
It actually makes sense if you think about it. Golden "Retrievers" are a retrieving dog typically used for retrieving the birds while hunting.
My golden retriever,Jiffy was the sweetest thing, just like Brad, although she had a hobby of killing all rabbits/any other small animals that might enter the yard
I find most hunters have a deep appreciation of nature.
He grew up hunting elk with his dad. Buddy had some good practice early.
Hey Brad, I’ve been a hunter / sportsman all my life...I’d like to say, you are an ambassador and a credit to all of us. Appreciate your attention to safety and your appreciation for the wildlife. Good on ya!
Brian H. Said the exact same things! Agreed 100%!
Likewise, part of me was worried the "politicals" of guns and hunting would ruin the video. Nope they keep in clean, fun, and about the foods. Good job brad and vinnie!

TheCanadian Squid yup
Nice. Im getting culture shock from your comment haha

You cant teach that stuff
Brad, I have to commend you on your gun safety. I live in the South where guns are pretty prevalent and its amazing to see irresponsible gun owners and hunters. Even though this wasn't a gun safety video, you drove home a lot of great points that I hope others can see as to how guns should be handled and used.
Also, I think Elias should be the newest member of you and Vinnys Dream Team

You were saying?
I’m surprised by the comments saying they love the way this video “portrays hunting.”
I suppose to those who don’t hunt or have never been around it couldn’t know that this is how hunting really is.
Exactly, gun safety is always number one and respect for the animals/ the land is paramount.
Well in the PNW, BC, and the Rockies, people still poach animals. And absolutely NO ONE should kill a predator ( wolf, bear, lynx, etc) Those are trophies. Period.
Trophy hunting is not something you usually see in the US (though it does happen).
Lulu Seatown Getdown People eat predators. Also, if the predators aren’t managed, the number of prey will decline.
*also, after they get the birds they appreciate how beautiful they are and idk why but to me it kind of came across as a thank you to the birds which was sweet.
this is how the majority of hunters are.
This is bird hunting well represented. The vast majority of us hunt exactly like this.
So...... You've never been hunten? This is how it's done.
Do you see how this woman is utterly ignorant of hunting and the care respect that's baked into the activity...virtually nothing is hunted for pure sport except vermin.

There isn’t really an ethical way to consume meat when you don’t have to or need to consume meat for survival/nutritional needs

You should go over to Meat Eater TV Steven Rinella has the utmost respect for animals and vegans comment on his videos all the time agreeing with what he does
Same here!
It's so fascinating how the dogs just freeze when it's next to a bird so as to not scare it away. Dogs are so smart
As a vegetarian, I think this is the best way to eat meat :) thanks brad and vinny, great video x

Most hunters have the same respect for the environment and for their prey.
I think too few people hear or see this message delivered. I'm really glad that BA brought this episode to us. Kudos to Brad, Vinny and everyone at BA.

R D stop blaming the media for everything .
@@learner18
When it comes to guns, the media is absolutely to blame.
