As a guitarist myself. The level of difficulty of this play is just unmeasured. I mean you can try playing it and practice for months but you can't just copy how clean he played it.
@@RD-tu1td the percussion definitely isn’t the hard bit here but dam is it good btw there’s only 3 beats and it’s just kick drum a light snare and a stronger snare so if your intimidated bye it just give it a go
This is what separates him from every other fingerstyle player for me. He arranges it so that the soul of the original isn't lost whereas in other fingerstyle covers, I feel like the rhythm and mood are totally different..still cool, but not as moving as Kent's work.
Yes. His technical skills are off the chart good but he matches that with a soulfulness that catches the feeling of the song. Capturing and relating the feel DNA while also delivering the technical is incredibly difficult & unique.
There's no doubt that Kent is an extraordinary and gifted musician, if not the best we've all had the privilege to witness. What strikes me most is Kent's choices in the music he covers. Most guitarists on the tube here tend to cover recent pop songs or popular songs in general. This tends to give these other guitarists more views and more hits. Kent has chosen a different path. Kent has chosen songs that are so surprising that you never would have guessed they would be possible or covered on the guitar. He transcribes these covers and maintains the soul, the feels, the originality of the originals. And on top of that, he executes his transcriptions so flawlessly and (seemingly) without effort. Guitarists will know that it takes tons of dedication and time to play like this. What is this kid, 16 years old? He picks songs from *my childhood* and gives me the chills just listening to them (check out his cover of "Sweet Love" by Anita Baker). Kent, if you're listening --- keep doing what you're doing, young man. You have enriched so many lives with your music, and you'll continue to change lives for the better. You're my favorite guitarist here on the tube. ❤️❤️❤️
I dont think there is any guitarist on this planet who is able to combine a rythm section where he mimics the snaredrum with his fingernails on the body of the guitar and then smootly changes that to the palm of his hand mimicing the base-drum and hitting the fretboard at the same time keeping this groove going whilst playing an independant bass-line with chords- idependently from the melody which he is playing over the top all done AT THE SAME TIME ... And because he is exceptionally musically gifted he inserts hammer ons and pulls offs and mixing harmonics within the melody keeping the song together as it was intended by the original band and only 16 years of age its just amazing keep them coming Kent... im a big fan
I’m not usually of the “they’re just haters” but for Kent that’s the only logical explanation. Guys that have not now nor will ever exceed the level of “Smoke on the Water” and hence just get their panties in a wad when someone like Kent, who’s pretty much a level 9,000 master to their at best level 1 talent, drops a new song. Pure jealousy.
I'm always so mesmerized by Kent's style and fluency, and in total awe of his interpretation of his song selection: it's so pure and honest to the original, but he manages to make the tune his own. I've heard a lot of guitarists in my lifetime, and seen a lot of genuine talent, but Kent is by far the best I've seen / heard, the way he captures the bass, rhythm, lead, harmonies, and counterpoints in each song - on ONE GUITAR!!! More, Kent, more!
I still can't get over this guy. Just the amount of care he puts into the details of all his covers are just amazing. That bass line is straight fire and gets the headphones on and volume up every damn time.
here is only one way to play a song, and that is to play it the way it was meant to be played and written by the original artist. There's everyone and than there is Kent. Hands down this dude will kick anyone's ass when it comes to playing anything on guitar. I've head a lot of great guitarist artist play, but this man is on a different level. His playing is clean, clear, covers the full spectrum, original like a well oiled and tuned machine where he never misses any part nor does he ever misses a beat. Just mind blowing.
I want to give this young man money and good health and all of my good karma. Easily one of the best interpretive acoustic guitarists on the planet. Mad respect young genius.
When I listen to other guitarists work I feel like some guys plays great on guitar, but when I listen to Kent's work I feel like the original song as it should be played by Kent, like original song if it was first recorded by him. Many good guitarist can transfer the feeling of the same chords and progressions, which is great, but very few actually can transfer it's actual sense, which is unique.
With these players, it's like the guitar has become part of them. They are so familiar with everything about the guitar. Frets, strings, wood, all of it! It's like second nature to them. I can see him playing this with his eyes closed. Kinda like you and me humming the melody, except we'd be able to hum every part. Just magnificent!
You are a genius for sure Kent, What Mastery over your instrument. You sound like three instruments just using one acoustic. and your internal tempo is spot on to my ears. Amazing Dude !! Amazing.
Hi Kent, I agree with many positive encouragements posted previously. Your music is the only instrumental music that encourages me to sing the lyrics along with your playing.
This is one of the greatest things I have ever seen/heard. I'm a fingerpicking guitarist with the nails to prove it and you just blew my mind completely.
I've listened to your cover so many times. I just got my first DAC/AMP and your video was the first one I listened to after installing it. I barely played the video and o my lord, the bass of your E string at 0:08 already got me, it just sounds so plump & smooth. Thank you for your video.

Agreed…
Yeahh samee, thug pro
Yeah with the percussions in the right spot too, man did a fine job on this
That is truth
@@RD-tu1td the percussion definitely isn’t the hard bit here but dam is it good btw there’s only 3 beats and it’s just kick drum a light snare and a stronger snare so if your intimidated bye it just give it a go
This guy is on another level, all by himself. Kudos.
If you got those nails on only the right hand as a dude, you better be fucking good.
Apparently he’s one of the best
@@Nicolailund15 he could have a matching wig and still get my respect playing like that!
Kent = The Sultan Of Strings.
those are add on fingernails. they come off.
Kent's sense of groove is really something else.
This is what separates him from every other fingerstyle player for me. He arranges it so that the soul of the original isn't lost whereas in other fingerstyle covers, I feel like the rhythm and mood are totally different..still cool, but not as moving as Kent's work.
I feel his covers to be the cleanest of all, i know that applies to a lot of players but this is unlike anything, like clear water
Yes. His technical skills are off the chart good but he matches that with a soulfulness that catches the feeling of the song. Capturing and relating the feel DNA while also delivering the technical is incredibly difficult & unique.
Yep, as Billie Holliday says in one of her songs ” if it any got that swing it don’t mean a thing”.
**bow** as a man who has held a guitar in his hands for a great number of hours... I am floored. The stage is yours to take my friend.
Am I the only one who appreciate how good he arranged the fuckin' bass??? It's so good when I try to listen to the bass alone!

Khoi Nguyen You should watch Gabriella Quevedo on RUclips. She’s a finger picking style guitarist. She’s very good too.
Could not of said it better
His ability to accurately play the bassline while picking every other part of the song is mind blowing
ハーモニクスとかでメロディーを無駄に装飾してないの本当に好き...うますぎる
He does not muddle the cover, staying true to the original, only instrumental very clean and precise with so much emotion.
The best of this generation
Listen to marcin😉
@@shantellsilver4101 that's just an annoying shit, every single arrangement, there is no sense of beauty in his cover at all, only annoying

True

As a guitarist, pieces that generally sound too hard to play are 2 guitars playing a duet. This guy plays both parts at the same time. It’s insane.
The add lib by another guitar towards the end was the icing on the cake!
I’d think you had 20 fingers, 4 hands, 12 guitar strings, another rhythm guitar, a bass, keyboard and drums. You’re amazing.
Another masterpiece my friend
Sure it is
Definitely !

The first 10-second intro eliminate any competition to this guy. Amazing.
I knew this number would drop in here at some point. It’s crazy good.

It is as if he pulls the song from deep inside our collective memory and pushes it back out through six strings on a guitar; brilliant.
Kent Nishimura will be the NEXT BIG THING in music!

I love how you've added the Marcus Miller bass accents into the groove.
GREAT JOB!
This guy makes an acoustic guitar sound like a complete orchestra, style and timing - outstanding !!
Forget everything else ... just watch the right thumb doing the percussion beat and the bass pattern! It''s just amazing!
the way how he played the bassline consistently killed me

Seriously Kent, that BRIDGE though…how in the hell did you even CONCEIVE the arrangement for that, let alone play it so flawlessly?
so nice it makes me mad - wishing I could play like that ...
Yo this kid is so dope. How does he play all those parts and still put so many opposing nuances into each part? That baseline was so phat
The best acoustic rendition of this song I have ever heard 🙌🏽
Your ability to fill pick - between melodies, is far beyond most of the other fingerstyle guitarists on this platform. Bravo!!
