- DJ Clark Kent spoke openly to VladTV about getting his start in the hip-hop world, as he admitted that his first turntable came after he looted a store during the infamous blackout of 1977 in NYC. It was after this time that Kent started building up his name around the city and establishing himself as a known DJ. He also began a career as a tour DJ for the likes of Dana Dane, Biggie, and Jay Z to name a few. It was the latter which he spoke about at length during this clip.
Kent explained that he saw Jay Z's star power after their first meeting , and he revealed that the Brooklyn rapper had the sharp with that Kent knew would help him succeed in the rap world. Clark Kent added that he believed in Jay Z so much that he featured him on every remix he put out.
Check out the rest of the interview to hear what Clark Kent had to say, including how he started remixing records and getting into the production part of the industry. Развлечения

I don't know anything about Clark Kent but I know he's an OG and made it big at a time when u had to be a monster to get noticed. He gets mad respect unlike the cats who are popular today for hot garbage.
There's a reason these names got known and that's cos they were the best at their craft in a time where there wasn't any social media etc. Legendary DJ and producer.

1. That TROOP record was a monster! I didn't know it was a remix.

NOTHING but love for BK and infinite respect for all Brooklyn DJs but I thought Chuckie Booker produced Spread My Wings?
he should've produced more Big, love that 'sky's the limit' joint
He was too busy riding Jay's coattails. Who knows, if Clark would've produced more for Big, he wouldn't have went "Back to Cali" and maybe could've saved his life.

Believe it or not, there are some 15 year olds with Virtual DJ on their PC's who call themselves DJ who had to google "floppy disk" when he said the SP12 had a floppy disk. And its some of them reading this comment right now that will now have to google it, because they've got no idea what that is and so they have to front to their friends like they knew.
its called an sp12
Look vlad if you love and respect the culture , please drop this whole interview asap !
Lol bet he loves his views and his money even more...

Jay is hella witty lol and he probably has most quotables.
I agree wit you 100%... I'll wait here in this bunker with you for the hate that's going to rain down lol
+TheRealFirstTeam Famm you not lying 😂😂 people hate this dude even though most of their favorite rappers look up to him smh
Viva Las Vegas see ya later at the crap tables meet by the one that starts a G up this way no fraud willies present gamblin' they reup and we can have a pleasant time sippin' margaritas..... Yo anybody that gambles at casinos can feel this when a dude comes in wit short money any fucks the table up, also any hustler no matter what the hustle has to feel that shit and this is shit from 96
Damn, Dame said Clark Kent thought Jay was wack when they first met
On Drink Champs huh... Na I can't watch this shit nomo
Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought Biggs said he (meaning Biggs) wasn't feeling Jay at the onset
Yeah, Clark frontin' cause he don't want to look stupid. He knows that the audience is too stupid to understnad where the culture and sounds was going in that time, leading anyone to (legitimately) think a nascent Jay being wack. Which was probably a valid criticism then. Rap was different and Jay's flow was different.
No Dame said Biggs thought Jay was wack until the DMX battle. I think that was more of a Brooklyn/Harlem thing. Clark Kent was one of Jays first supporters.
That's where you wrong, I have all those R&B remix records with Jay Z on them that Clark is talking about.
Eastern Parkway..Wow..#brooklynvseverybody
he talking about the shop on utica between lincoln and st johns
AB Bruzzi Utica ave btwn Lincoln
and St.johns? That doesn't intersect.
+E Haynes Utica Ave BTW st Johns and Lincoln that's crown heights bruh how you ain't know that?
kfrombk I used to live on St.Johns and Ralph ave years ago.I forgot that it intersects.I know that's Crown Heights, bro.Where I lived was considered Ocean Hill/Brownsville.
sp12 had 1.5 seconds sample time stock.
sp12 turbo had 5 seconds sample time.
sp1200 had 10 seconds sample time.
Sauce Money was ill son...
sauce was vicious
sauce was also a Grammy Winner before Jay-Z.
one of the illest!
+RAW VISION Do u really think it won for its lyrics or because it was a poppy dedication over a sting sample. This is a real question not hate Sauce is amazing on the mic. I'm just asking not trying to get into some bullshit internet fight lol
And"
once again NOBODY ACKNOWLEDGEs vlad longevity except him, go vlad go 😂😂😂
L-o-l Vlad a legend though
interview ralo
No he looks like teddy from black ink ny
you mean teddy from black ink look like him because this guy's older than him.
hot Dave from Poet and Hot Dave.
Dana Dane with Fame
Dame Dash said something different on Drink Champs.....
Clark Kent always bigs up Jay z in nearly every interview, clearly because he was getting paid by Jay z when he did shows. Now he probably want to get back on that Jay z payroll
how many of you thought sp-12 was a gun
DJ superman
sneaker god!
This nigga put Clark on blast lmfao . "Apparently, you were one of those people" lol smh
Why would he have to raid a electronic shop if he mother made a considerable amount of money?
Thank God Clark didn’t follow in the footsteps of his pops OG Mob James
💯
Chucky Booker made "spread my wings" the little shit Clark Kent did cant be considered "producing"
He said he did the remix, the one that turned into A single.
in his remix, he sampled the original. it aint that big of a difference between the two versions
this dude is the biggest jayz fanboy youll ever meet
bigger jayz fanboi than Elliott wilson?lol
True Journey DAMN lol
No, he's A real friend"
Most of these NY guys are so secretive. Clark didn't even wanna say the name of the hit song he first produced. Vlad had to ask Clark what the name of the song was. Good thing Vlad asked because we would've been sitting here wondering what the mystery song was. Why the fuck wouldn't he tell us the name of the song? This is an interview, you're suppose to give us DETAILED information about your career, not a brief overview. Don't come to Vlad with those bullshit FM radio answers.
Wonder how it feels to be a grown man and people only want to talk to you about people you know. Always got another man name in his mouth
Then he slowed it down started swaggin like Nas get to the point Kent
If you heard those songs that Clark Kent was talking about, you would hear that Jay Z wasn't only speed rapping.
Vlad thinks he's a Double OG. Bruh you Double O Seven with your spying ass lollll.
nobody mentioned lady shady for thinking she's a rap god, for her racist tape dissing her black ex girlfriend,
Vlad contradicted himself talking about the SB 1200 Clark Kent corrected him and said no the SB 12 then he tried to say that he used the sb12 I swear he clout chasing trying to make himself seem bigger back in the day stop that b******* and just enjoy your moment now as a website guy who does interviews LOL
Clark seems uneasy, like something is really irking him and he doesn't know how to express what he is truly feeling.
Chris Matheus prob gay
