Tip 13 : you need to have engineering skill at 20 before you can repair items in your inventory
Thankyou bro
Came here to mention this
You don't have to be level 13 to unlock companion abilities, you need 20 points in leadership. Also, just an fyi, there is a trunk in your captains quarters that can be used as storage.
Yeah, you also need 20 points in engineering to repair items without being at a workbench. This video is a little bit misleading.
Yeah, must have been just a rushed playthrough to make thisvideo.
Any container on the ship can be used as storage. Possibly any on planets too
@@Selvanus oh alright. Good to know.
Did not know about the storage..thx
"In The Outer Worlds most people are either, out to get you, use you for their own gain, or just don't give a damn about you, so you gotta look out for yourself."
So its just like real life then. :)
So true 😁
Lol yes 😅
James Rowland haha that’s what i was thinking!🤣
Yup
Just like Bethesda
“Making fun of Bethesda is like beating a dead horse.”
So that’s what the horse armor was for!
lmao nice one
Legendary 😂
Good one
Several things in this video are flat out wrong.
There are locks you can't unlock if your lockpick skill isn't high enough regardless of how many maglocks you have. You have to be within a certain range of the lock's level to use them.
I've got a lockpick skill of around 65, have a massive stash of almost two hundred maglocks [because I beefed it up early and very rarely needed to use them as you can open locks for free if your level is high enough], and I've run across at least three level 100 doors that do not provide the option to unlock them even with maglocks. Yes, they can be opened if your lockpick skill is high enough and aren't just story locked.
Also, some of the stuff mentioned is locked behind a level. Such as repairing weapons in your inventory, you need to be lvl 20 in the relevant skill to unlock these things usually.
You also use fewer parts repairing at a workbench, so don't repair weapons from your inventory unless you absolutely have to. [And you never really do, as weapons don't "break" when they completely degrade, and just have a debuff to damage when fully degraded. They'll still work well enough to get you to a workbench in most cases].
Companion skills are locked by your leadership/inspiration skill level, not your character level.
You really shouldn't ever need to buy much of anything from vendors as you'll find plenty of weapons, armor, healing items, and ammo just lying around everywhere, even without stealing you should end up with a surplus of bits.
Also, bribing people often makes you miss out on interesting dialogue or skip sidequests. I don't recommend doing it on a first playthrough.
Tinkering a low level weapon into a higher level one results in a better weapon with slightly better stats than one you can find at the same level. It's also cumulative, so leveling up a level 10 weapon to level 30 will yield better results than leveling up a level 20 weapon of the same type to level 30. I should also reiterate that the difference isn't huge, but it does mean that you'll end up with a slightly more powerful weapon.
The cost is also cumulative, so upgrading a level 10 weapon up to level 30 will cost a lot more than leveling up a level 20 weapon to the same level will. You'll probably only be able to afford doing this to one weapon if you're planning on keeping one of your early game weapons through to the endgame. Seriously, it will cost in the range of millions at higher levels if you're tinkering an early game weapon into an endgame one. It's not worth it for the minor damage boost you'll get, but can make for an interesting [and likely very time consuming] challenge to see if you can scrape together enough bits to max out a weapon like that.
It is worth it to tinker a weapon that is closer to the same level as the highest level gear you are finding, as the cost does justify the additional stat boost if it's within a few levels.
Played it for a couple hours so far and love it, the combat is great and so is the humour
Just know this is as close as we will ever get to a 2nd season of Firefly.
I thought that was Serenity?
@@Washius True enough. As good as that movie is nothing compares to prolonged time spent with a good characters & an adventure slowly unfolding to a satisfying denouement & conclusion. Personally, I'm getting both Firefly & Mass Effect nostalgia off this game. Good Times...
@@vincentwarrican8138 definitely getting some BioShock vibes off the game as well, along with some bits of New Vegas, in the sense that a lot of the quests/faction interactions not really having a "morally right" answer
@@kazumablackwing4270 The decision making, in particular, really requires more 'moral head scratching' for a player: a very satisfying aspect of the game.
Holy shit yes I love that show
Ok I'm enjoying this game more than borderlands 3
“As long as you’re outside, you can fast travel whenever you want from the very start of the game”
Me: *cries in Supernova*
Y u cry lol
@@Dstone901 In Supernova Difficulty, you can only fast travel to your ship and no where else
Lol I see ur pain now...on supernova do u get better loot and drops do they repay u for the difficulty
@@Dstone901 Honestly No idea, I tend to start games on their hardest difficulty, so I don't have anything to compare it too. But in terms of loot so far, I haven't found an issue with under levelled gear. But you have a lot of more things to manage, like eating, drinking, and sleeping, or your character will eventually die
"Your companions don't die, so don't worry"
I'm glad they didn't call it strategic time dilation, that might have given the wrong impression
VATS
thanks, you made me laugh :D
This game is the definition of fun. Very flexible on player decision-making
This game is going to ruin my life. Looking forward to it
My family unit aren't
Its only 30 hours long. So its more a weekend than your life :)
@@Uviryth Can you do all the side quests after?
@@yahya2925 30 hours including sidequests and extensive exploration
@@Uviryth That's not enoughhh :((
Love the commentary and how it's presented, It's not just the tips, but the the way it is voiced. Very pleasant to listen to, not just a bit of boring tips presented in a factual manner, this presentation is interesting. Zola Delahunty-Light does a great job, keep up the great work.
For number 13 you actually need 20 points in engineering to repair stuff without a workbench.
One important thing new players should know is to increase perception a couple notches when creating a new character, 50-70% of the game is talking your way out of or into situations, however any decent dialogue option is behind high perception checks.
I prioritized talking and leadership for that matter
I played a dumb character for the trophy. Had Strength and Dexterity on average, Intelligent on -1, Perception on +3 and Charisma and Temperament each on +2.
For a not dumb character I would put 2 in intel, 2 in perception and either 1 in charisma and 1 in temperament or 2 in charisma.
Stealing is far too easy in this game. Nobody questions when you go into their store room, come out with your arms full and then sell them all of their own stuff.
Even though Obsidian is way better they and Bethesda have one thing in common, completely oblivious and dumb as rocks npcs. Like how you can literally kill someone in Skyrim but as long as you are hidden the other person will only think it was the wind.
And even if you do get caught, if your speech skills are high enough, you can easily get away with it with the only penalty being a virtually meaningless reduction in standing with the faction in question.
Played KOTOR 2 like 10 times and new Vegas 3 times, I know I’ll be playing their latest multiple times as well
VulturePilot it feels like a perfect blend of fallout and kotor.
Definitely picking this up. Gotta support good fella companies like Obsidian, CD Projekt Red...
Ah yes, that lovely beacon of _blindingly_ good development practices, CDPR.
adding more friendly devs and publisher, Devolver Digital, Larian studios and Concerned Ape (Stardew Valley devs)
Raye Penbar how about Bungie...?
Natan1511 hah that’s funny the company who said they would improve and sold us another shit expansion
Darkneonflame Destiny 2 is slowly redeemed itself. I find it really fun rn
It's worth mentioning that breaking down and repairing items in the field has a higher cost than when at a workbench.
favourite thing about eurogamer?
you can always tell the person talking uses their own gameplay
"Even if you're someone who doesn't care about everyone's opinion of you, 1: how do you do it?"
Well, that's a mood.
One of my favorite things to do is steal in the game I’m like muahaha and I just run around whispering “hehehe I’m steallllinnn hehehe” 😂
I am actually super happy that there are not lockpick mini-games. I'm not bad at them it's just after the first few it gets really old and usually there isnt an option to turn the mini-game off. Like in Hogwarts.
2:38 that gamepad aiming...
I think they just sucked. I don't have any trouble with a controller.
this game was everything i wanted and more. If i was going to be RRRReeeaallly picky id say the only thing missing is radio stations with amazing unique song like FO ....but honestly... it exceeded all of my expectations. So glad to go back to the "silent" main character in dialog too!
I can't wait to play at the weekend, Hopefully it will be the first thing good for me this year :)
on Supernova difficulty Companions can die
Number 2, stealing in real life pays off. Got yha, thank for the tip.
It's how Bethesda does it.
actually, companions special attack unlock when you have reach 20 points in the last skill tree (don't remember the name) so you can have it at a low lvl if you desire to
Awww, what a cute ickle monster at around 09.36! i'm assuming keeping it as a pet isn't allowed?
Every game should have the fast travel while encumbered perk - loot is too important to be left behind/prioritised!
Thank you Zoe! X
That monster is called a Sprat
you can use companion special moves before lvl 13
zoe thats one heck of a surname you got there, its pretty cool!
I really enjoy Zoe's personality in these videos :)
I detected no personality. After 2 mins I stopped listening, blah blah blah in monotone....get to the tips...
simp
@@Bmetalful honestly lmao
its 2019, by personality they mean woman
I love the narrator's accent. She makes things fun. Kudos to you, Miss.
Uh huh...
Nerd alert.
Why not ask mom if you can invite her over for some chicken tenders and some anime?
Outer Wewds
@@josephdickman1953 The flight from the U.K. would be long and expensive.
Some stuff aren't true for Supernova difficulty. Companions will permanently die if downed in combat, and you can save only on your ship.
This game is so interesting and fun combat. The fact that its not even a full open world blows my mind. GOTY nominee for sure. Obsidian :)
I love this persons voice haha.
Weapons have magazine sights AND barrel at least. I haven't actually finished the game but even I know that.
is this game not too short for most people? i LOVE it but i’m worried it’ll end too quickly.
If you chose to play at supernova difficulty though, your companions can die (permadeath) if you're not careful.
I love the subtle differences in pronunciation of words between British and American English.
Inventory.
We say in-ven-tor-ee
You say in-ven-tree
Max Attax We & you is to who? 😅
British accents vary as it is a collection of countries. Scotland, Wales and England. Their accents are completely different
She's a bit of an anomaly when it comes to that. Us Brits don't usually pronounce it that way.
Ahh-loo-mihn-ee-um🤘🤘
This looks amazing! I'm sold! 🐱
How can I not subscribe when you got your persuade skill so high. LOL
You can repair your weapons and armor on the spot but you need lvl 20 engineering for this.
And your companions do die if you play at the highest level difficulty.
Effin Flaw system. I was convinced by a different RUclips video that accepting a flaw was part of the game. It's been haunting my first play through and i think I'm just going to restart because Respec doesn't clear flaws.
I just know i’ll role play as a neutral cold blooded gun for hire, just in it for DA MONEH 😂
what is the song in the beginning
I just got this on sale at the Ps store. How hard is it to play this blind playthru?
I had to pause to watch this. 👌
Lockpicking and hacking mini games are fun though
If they're done well, I agree. I think it's a bit of a pity this doesn't have them at all, when an option to turn them off (or autocomplete at a certain skill level) could work just as well if the concensus is that they're annoying after a while.
How do I get that laser pistol?
I wonder what will happen if you just go around killing everyone.. will try on my 2nd play through.
Can you increase the text size? That looks like it'll be a hell of a problem
I hope they do. I have to keep gett8ng up to read info on items. Still love the game
You heal by using an inhaler? … Damn as an asthmatic, this speaks true.
Hahahaha subhuman
SAM does bonus damage to automechanicals! 😎😎
I’m just here to comment you don’t need to know anything, just hop in and have fun. These videos are a blight on today’s society
This Amazing game came out of nowhere, Amazing
Pls do a characters build
Great game and handy video, thanks. But why is there a huge pause in between the narrators every word?
anyone know what the gun in #3 is?
Honestly the first time I played this game, I don’t think I realized that you could fast travel, and nowadays I just play on Supernova.
Pro tip:- after Edgewater, drop solo in cascadia. ;)
Tip 1: Let your companions do all the work. (Yes, with your best weapons.)
Tip 2: Sit back and watch.
Tip 3: Press F. (To pay respects to the fallen enemy. And to heal your companions.)
10mins in.. Still not sure why I brought this, ....12mins in.. I'm liking this game it's enjoyable. 20min in... I love this game.
Mr Bigglesworth I loved it from the get go. And it’s free on Xbox gamepass and I knew absolutely nothing about the game and dove straight in. Just watching videos now to see what other people think about it
@@Selvanus same. I had no clue about it. But I live the game. Hope they do a 2nd one
Mr Bigglesworth just completed the main campaign. I love it
Mr Bigglesworth - bought, not brought. One is past tense of buy, the other is past tense of bring. Very different meanings.
Natan1511 - Oh my god ‘from the gecko’?! What do you even think that would mean? It’s ‘from the get go’, as in from the beginning.
You forgot the biggest one! Once you put on a helmet, you can’t take them off
4Runner King Gut you can make them invisible by going into the settings.
Uhhhh no?
Yes, you can it called gameplay settings.
Y’all are late, post was made 3 days ago.... I obviously know you can now
I just shoot EVERYTHING....needs me some stuff
Can i ask what is point of going through creating player facial features at start when i've not even seen my own players face yet in game? Knowing me i be missing something.
I think thats why the face creation is so basic in this game
I do not endorse stealing 😂😂😂best line
I wish you could turn off the cinematics for the teammate specials
I'm chipping in!!!!!!!!
Monarch is seriously the hardest planet to survive in I’m being overwhelmed by all those monsters and marauders
Dropkick a Sprat like its hot.... drop(kick) it like its hottt
Seriously though , dropkick a Sprat.
“Maybe take it easy....with the bull...ets” love it you’re voice makes me smile, love a British accent on a woman nothin sexier! Good work made me smile.
Bro🤣
You don't endorse stealing, you sure? Because you've stolen my heart.
Persuade check pass. Charming too high. ;)
I like your voice Persuade Skill +100 #new subscriber
Is there a max level rank?
Is the speaker a robot?
They made stealing in Groundbreaker 100x harder. My 1st play-through I was able to rob the Groundbreaker blind, and get away with everything I can carry to getting busted all the time in my 2nd play-through
Nice intro
Your companion doesn’t die is not completely true. If you play on supernova skill. They die for good. So be careful. Every other setting they do survive
You don't endorse stealing yet you've stolen my heart...
Fucking love all of Obsidians work. If you want to support these devs further, ya know cause they are the only ones putting out quality lately, look in to pillars of eternity. Awesome game.
Invent-ery? Lol - around 8:00 when she’s talking bout how to fix weapons without a workbench - never heard anyone say inventory like this so took a minute 🤔
Can someone help me I’m playing but now I can’t sprint. What do I do to get it back?
Probably just have to much stuff in your inventory, break down your shit weapons and armour.
Excellent video and very well narrated except wtf is up with the way she says "inventory" invent-ory 😂
That's just the British pronunciation.
@@HerrKopplin no it's not , I've never heard anyone say it that way , must be a very specific part of England
Your accent is amazing, and you should narrate everything
Video starts at 1:41
Well you forgot 1 thing that so happens to be your companions die on supernova mode Wich I'm currently playing
What? You want a medal or something?
Hey my game keeps restarting like the sun keeps exploding making me start over and over again how do I get this to not happen? It's been years do I got a demo version of the game please help 😫
Companions can die and are gone forever if your on the hardest difficulty
if theres waterfall, theres something inside behind :v
I don't think I have the patience for this kind of game anymore. Early on I already felt like a scrapbook boy or a working accumulator. Let's see if interesting quests appear. Compared to Fallout: Shooting is very good at The Outer Worlds.
i already completed the whole game 2 times. It’s amazing but very short... only took me 12 hours.
I'm 12 hours in my first run lol, going to do a kill everything run next
Thats what happens when you do zero side quests, they already said you can beat this game in 10 hours or 40 depending on how you play the game. Its a true tribute to games like Baldurs Gate.
Shouldnt have rushed.
Main thing for me is you loose the character after you finish the game. made me quit after first playthrough cus I just wanted to go out and explore with fully upgraded character. I guess you _could_ just not do the last mission or do the exploring before you finish off but yeh. it's great game still. !
Tips actually start at 1:30 ...
I was able to fast travel while inside the Geothermal Plant..
Same, I tried because I couldn't find the way out..
Does the game have any radio stations? Like fallout games did?
nemesis darking nope
thank god no
@@EdwardMichael3 why? you know you dont have to use the radio
I misread the original question and thought they were talking about climbing radio towers, like in Far Cry. A mechanic I think is overused in games. But they weren't so there's no reason for my "thank god no". So human error, mystery solved I hope.
Tip #1: Change the Field of View to at least 90 (from the default 75)!!! I played the entire first world with 75 and thought the entire time "something's wrong with the graphics, but I don't know what. I can't see anything" ...
Where does one find the FOV slider??
@@j.barnard2669 I'm playing on the PC, so I don't know if that option is even there for console players. But on the PC, you'll find it under Settings / Gameplay I believe.
@@entreprenr Thank you responding to my question. I appreciate it. Sadly, I'm on PS4. Guess I'm stuck with my view.
@@j.barnard2669 it's probably on the next gen I know Xbox series x has it for sure
@@rushpatriot2866 Hope so. Will be a most appreciated feature for me.
Hero!
