Lady D actually said that Ethan's blood is a little stale foreshadowing the fact that he's dead and the three sisters find it delicious since the flies feed on moulds and Ethan is made intirely of mould

I think, it also preferred to how the little girl took the cog from the horse and then the horse became angry like how Ethan chose to save Rose for himself whilst Heisenberg became angry that Ethan rejected him.

I wish the Beneviento part was longer. It's the best part of the game and i love Angie. The 4 lords just didn't get enough screentime and character development. I wish they showed us more of the lords and their pasts. And the boss fights were lacking something special imo. And the ending made me cry. Ethan is my favorite RE protagonist and he is the best dad. He sacrificed everything for his family.
@@Kedzie_ Bro, don't watch shit about the game if you want to play it... The experience ain't the same, you either check non-spoiler reviews or buy it to see how good the game can be, also, the game was amazing imo, at least it wasn't a disappointing experience.
All I'm going to say is that monster fetus was the stuff of nightmares. Its probably my favorite monster design and sound effects of any game or even movie.
The rest of the game isn't all that scary. But this part is the scariest section in the whole series. It feels like a love letter to P.T. turned to 11.
I dont think donna was kidnapped. Coz based on the story, donna's parents died, leaving only her as the sole member living in her mansion, accompanied by her doll angie. She was so hidden from other people, that in the end, mother miranda is the one who approached to donna, and adopted her afterwards, somehow.
Yeah Angie and Donna Beneviento was my favorite of the five(second lady D ofcourse) At least we still got info about all of em I was really hoping an extremely awesome end to Donna part But then again the baby and hide n seek part was still awesome
In Donna Beneviento's house, doors can be seen cracked open behind you, and closed suddenly in some sequences, and during certain interactions with the mannequin while the lights flicker, Angie's dress can be seen in your peripheral vision (such as when you remove the brass symbol).
This is extra creepy because it implies that Donna is in the basement with you, you can’t see her because hallucinations and what not. I certainly felt like I was being watched throughout that entire part. Mainly because of the muted audio when you first go in. Perhaps like what skeltro9k said, when you see Angie next to the door, that’s Donna watching you. Would make sense seeing as how when you fight Angie it turns out you are not stabbing her with scissors but Donna.
Not sure if anyone's mentioned this before but Mother Miranda seems to be based on the Mother, Maiden and Old Crone (triple goddess) in Neopagan belief. She appears in three different forms: the creepy old woman with the skull staff, Mother Miranda with wings character, and as Mia in the beginning.
@@charliegraham2789 in the cutscene after Ethan kills Heisenberg, Mother Miranda shows herself transform into all three of her different forms (including the old hag).
@@dee... I don’t think the old woman with the skull is one of Miranda’s form. That wouldn’t make any sense. Because she also appears as Mia during that cutscene. I think she just used her Mimicry ability to turn into random characters.

I really wish get to see more of the four houses in the dlc, especially the Beneviento and Moreau. Donna's VA really fit her, despite having little dialogue, more part for her!

@@kimyo-jong9356 yes, in the dungeons you can find a note with four subjects, the three were later made into dimitrescus daughters after reacting favorably to the parasite whereas the fourth became another zombie
Including the maiden from the playstation only demo, I suppose. The one slave died would spawn an item named Ingrid's Necklace. She is the one listed with unstable demeanor in one of the note.
Another thing people probably do not know is that the mold has been around in this village for centuries, told in the letters from Spencer. He states that when he was a boy he visited the village of immortals and that gave him the idea to make the first virus and the company, Umbrella.
There's a file towards the end of the game where you find Mia that talks about how he spoke to Mother Miranda and was inspired by her and the village and had found the virus with similar affects which leads into resi 1(? I haven't played them all yet).
It isn't though. It was the wielder of the dagger and she keeps it because it is still effective against her. So best to keep it in her possession. I think it said so in the concept art in game
I knew that owl crest on the bottom of the Duke's caravan with the words "L'argent défend le droit" was suspicious!! My instinctive reaction was that he was a 5th, presumably benevolent house that withdrew into secrecy and tried to gather resources to save the village
The thing that strikes me he already knew about flasks...but never told Ethan ,even said she would have her in her private chambers like she is laying there or something so he lied
I think Ada's Plague Disguise idea was for ease of getting past the Lycans. Plus a means to bring additional lore to the story. I'm glad it was dropped since it would serve no justification for Ada's alternative motives like in RE2 and RE4.
@@andrewmelvinpotter there's also a lot of imagery of birds, specifically crows and ravens, so a light bird like mask would have been really neat symbolically :)
i think the iconography of her being a plague doctor would work for the fact that she’s “stopping the disease” without actually doing anything (like the plague doctors did) as ada would probably be stealing a sample of the megamycete anyway

I think my favourite thing thus far is what's written on the back of the family photo when it's returned to you, a really nice touch and haven't seen many talking about it!
Correction. Dimitrescu's fashion is 1930's fashion (in fact her concept art can be linked almost exactly to a 1930's glamour shot, down to her pose, the dress and the hat) not 1960's, and the yokai is Hachishaku-sama, not Hashuku-sama. But anyway~
@TheHonestDutch/Irish/Italian guy I don't know, but I said her outfit is 1930's, which is smack dab in the middle of the art deco period, soooo... I think people just have a poor understanding of fashion history, especially because so much of it borrows from past periods. I saw a lot of people pin the teacher's style from Little Nightmares 2 as early 1900s, but it is clearly 1950s in style. But most people picture women's fashion in the 50s as the tea dress and pearls, so they probably don't realize the above-the-ankle A-line skirt, clean lines on the blouse, collar, and hairstyle scream 50s, not 1900s in which floor-length skirts, ruffled blouses, cravats or ties, and coifed hair was far more common. Anyway. I went to school for a bit for fashion design and had the idea of designing clothing for games, but it was really expensive. I can still spend hours gushing about fashion, design and games tho~
On that note: I'm so upset they didn't make her claws hatpins. I know that they are her nails, but making them hatpins would have tied into her whole look. Hatpins were also used by Victorian and Edwardian period women for self defense, as they could be quite large and sharp. The bigger the hat, the bigger the pins.
The concept art in the game says that her fashion was inspired by 1960s New Look fashion. I agree that it looks more 1930s, but that's what it says and that's what they used for inspiration.
Another fact: Heisenberg gave every soldat a number in duetsch(german) Soldat means soldier, soldat eins means soldier one, soldat zwei means soldier two and sturm(propeller head)means storm hinting Heisenberg being maybe german or of german descent
Fun fact: The devs kind of messed up with the last 2 foods from the Duke "ciorba de porc and sarmale de pește translated will be Pork soup and Fish Cabbage Rolls" In Romania are traditional the Pork Cabbage Rolls and Fish Soup
Most likely DLC and the way i see it: -Ada is now working for the Connections -The BOWs we see at the end are their to aid her -Her mission is to steal a sample of the mold and the Cadou while Ethan and Chris distract Mother Miranda

DLC? I had looked through the concept arts, and the Rosemary Winters concept art give me that DLC content. What if Ada could make an appearance on a DLC, CAPCOM MAKE IT HAPPEN!
It would of been awesome to of seen Ada make a return in another RE game, her plague doctor outfit would of fitted very nicely with Village. Fingers crossed capcom bring her back maybe via DLC for this game or in RE 9/the next installment of the franchise 🤔
I still say Heisenberg seems more like a van Helsing type of character with his steampunk looks and the lycans basically being something he wants to get rid of. He definitely looks more like a van Helsing than a Frankenstein type
But he also resurrects the dead with science, like Dr Frankenstein, even mentioning electricity. And with all his crazy experiments, He's basically a mad scientist aka Frankenstein.
I honestly feel pretty bad for Moreau like if you look into how sad he feels about looking like that and being essentially hated for it he's actually kinda wholesome and cute. (plus him making the crown for himself is adorable and childish)❤
He is a pretty sad character. If Ethan would’ve not announced his presence when he took the Rose Flask from him, Moreau might’ve lived. However since Capcom probably would want him taken care of anyway, there probably could’ve been some moment where you confront him later in the game.
When I see him in recap or playthrough videos I have to skip through. It makes me too sad. The fact that he was watching a romantic movie broke my heart.
What about the dukes rare voiceline when he says "what're ya buyin? Haha just something an old friend of mine used to say" clearly an easter egg for the merchant from RE 4
This game is so awesome, the atmosphere, backstories, amount of useful information in terms of lore. I just love it. A bit sad for some of the lords, especially Heisenberg, he could've been a useful ally
Boggles my mind as to why Dimitrescu wasn’t the 4th Lord. Not because she was loved before the game was even released , more because of how massive her map is along with her 3 daughters.
And I'm praying if they give us the hound wolf squad DLC we'll get to see either the three-way fight with the bsaa and the likens that way it'll give us more backstory on why the hell the bsaa is using bio weapons or like what their abilities are and stuff in a fight make them like a mini boss next to the lycans
I honestly don’t think it actually was BSAA but rather someone impersonating them. Or maybe a rogue branch trying to collapse the organization. I’m curious either way lol. And that does sound like an interesting dlc.
@@digestedoctopus yeah I was thinking the same thing or I was thinking that the bsaa soldiers got there landed and was somehow infected with the mold because if you look at the concept art their eyes are orange or like a yellow just like lady d and it's like black stuff coming out of their eyes so I was thinking that possibly they were infected fighting the lichens it's either that or they were impersonators like you said to kind of like infiltrate and destroy the image of the bsaa

I think we’ll see some more of the heroes in the next game. I really liked the idea they had with 6, having pretty much everyone crammed into a game but it wasn’t done right lmao. Ok good now I don't feel like an idiot for thinking a game character is hot(Chris is also with those muscular arms and all that brooding)but Mr H is definitely! Then again, I've read tons of comments where guys and gals are in love with Lady D so I take it that crushing on game avatars/characters is fine? Karl has a Rob Zombie/Jason Momoa type of look going on, IMO.
I saw a lot of gameplays and stuff, so here's a fun fact! ,, Dimitrescu" is a clasic romanian name, and here, We pronunce it like:,, Dee-mee-tres-coo"! Also, there are a lot more romanian refrences there... Like, the food Mia was cooking at the beginning, ciorba de legume, it translates as,, vegetable soup".
A nice detail I really liked was that the picture book at the end revealing the initial infection in the village is exactly how the showed the start of the plagas in RE4. Also the Lycans pose reminds me of the first zombie you see in RE1
When Mia/Eveline gets shot, she doesn´t react like a human would do, like fall to the floor, scream and so on. Eveline is suprised that someone uncovered her sneaky little trick

8:55 I think rather an assassin he's the husband of lady dimitrescu who realized her motives and decided to kill her but failed that might be her reason to hate him and all man but clearly she didn't hated him much if she did she wouldn't have respectfully put him on the top of the castle in a coffin and probably destroyed the weapon instead of leaving it with him. She could have left his corpse in the dungeon like others.
I agree its her husband, and in the entrance of her castle the portrait of her once real human daughters. She recreated them later on using Miranda's knowledge. In continues on the theme of parenthood and desperation and sadness parents go through with the loss of their children.
The reason the mobs come alive in the Beneviento area only after Donna is defeated is because she was the last one and they are all coming back for revenge. The grave stone piece event you get from village center to get the Beneviento treasure only becomes acquirable after her section, if you never approach the item and get sidetracked the crypt stays forever closed for the rest of the game
Ada Wong in plague-doc themed spy gear is something I didn't know I needed until now. Awesome vid. There's some great ideas for rpg and miniature stuff in the concept art and what-ifs there.
Heisenberg does have some Frankenstein's monster elements but because he's a scientist/engineer he is equally inspired by the real life scientist Dr. Werner Heisenberg
The symbols of each house are quite poetic. House of Diminitrescu is Rose and Swords, representing her noble lineage and her feminine power. House of Boneviento is Sun and Moon representing Donna's and Angie's contrast of behaviour. House of Moreau is Mermaid in contrast to his grotesque look and his ability. House of Heisenberg is Horse head and hooves is like showing his 'worker-class' rank, and the fact that he needs 'halter' and 'briddle' to keep him in line.
I think the horseshoe is a nod to the old wives tale that putting a horseshoe over your door will protect you from witches and bad spirits, and Heisenberg wanted to be protected from Mother Miranda. Could also more generally mean warding off other evils, like vampiric Lady D, who he obviously had a difficult relationship with.

I was wondering why Elena's father changed after he was scratched and why Ethan didn't but #62 explains half of the reason why Ethan didn't change (it's not transferred through being scratched or bitten like it appeared to be at that part of the game). As for Elena's father it seems that the stress of being scratched and possibly what was happening contributed to his change considering he more than likely received an injection with the rest of the villagers at one point. We know from the game that the Cadou affected people differently even though most ended up becoming Lycans. Although there is a part in Moreau's notes that mentions Wolf Blood being injected after he was sent Villagers, but I suppose it's possible that Elena's father could have gotten an "inoculation" at one point. I am wondering however why it all just happened at once and it is interesting that a few of the villagers didn't change at all, which in retrospect considering how they seemed to be using Lycan raids to eliminate the villagers they were most likely seen as useless because they appeared to be immune.
That moroaica fact makes so much sense. At one spot in the game it actually refers to moroaicas as her. Pretty sure it's a challenge to make one drop their weapon.
11:15 Heisenberg van also go yo the german scientist named Werner Heisenberg who had the theory of quantum mechanics the position and the velocity of an object cannot both be measured exactly, at the same time, even in theory-- meaning metaphorically the idea of him being a friend or foe makes sense when he tries to recruit Ethan winters
"You were originally gonna be chased across the rope bridge to the Beneviento mansion by a ton of enemies" I though you were about to say "by a giant snake" XD
I'm certain I can't be the only one who found the King Alpha Wolf/ Ancient Beast in the Fallow Plot near Luiza's house, since the achievement I got said around 12% of other had found as well, but I haven't seen many others mention in any of these hidden secrets videos tho. Seems to only appear once Moreau has been beaten (might even be after The Stronghold area but before going to Heisenberg's Factory). I found when rechecking the well by Luiza's house since it was the only one that came up empty. I thought it funny but later saw on map that well was not crossed off like others. Went back to recheck and found the beast! Also found that well bucket was no longer empty, but was still raised and had 3 pipe bombs! My theory is that I initially revisited the Fallow Plot area too early at first, either before going to House Beneviento or Moreau's Resevior (whenever I first unlocked the well tool), but the game didn't mean for me to return quite then, which is why when I used the tool on the well behind where you first met the girl and her wounded father the bucket came up empty. I suppose there is a chance that I needed to raise that empty well bucket first to trigger the Alpha Beast to even appear when he did, because lycans HAD repopulated the area on that 2nd visit, but I'm not sure as I haven't replayed yet to see. King Alpha Beast is noticeable by it's glowing, orange eyes, many spears piercing it's hide, and takes 4x's as much damage! Edit: apparently the beast things names I couldn't remember are called Vercolac.
The speared dog dude triggers when you get the four wing key I think (honestly I didn't notice a difference between him and a normal big dog dude until I got the ancient beast crystal and the achievement popped). The one I found most people didn't get was the big hammer dude in the Beneviento treasure grave area triggering when you pick up the "Glori" broken slab in the village graveyard.
@@RidireOiche - Yep! I didn't actually get the Beneviento Grave Treasure myself til I went back after beating the game already. That guy is the same guy you fight in the Otto's Mill area tho, reached by heading left thru the tall grass instead of going up the tunnel stairs to the Stronghold area where you get Heisenberg's Flask at.
Man I love this game. Can't wait go back and get all the collectibles and beat it on Village of Shadows mode and everything. Definitely going for the plat
I feel as village was a short game. A lot of people are completing it in 8-9 hours casually not speedrunning or rushing the game. I wish they made some places 2 times longer like Donnas house and gave us more backstory on everyone like they did for the Baker family
Okay im quite dissapointed about one thing and that is THE FACT THAT MY DUDE THE DUKE IS NOT MADE TO BE THE FIFTH LORD. Like come on the Duke deserve it
My ideal DLC would be playing as Chris/ his squad at the Europe BSSA headquarters that becomes overrun with maybe various virus’s Like the Las Plagues, T-Virus, Mold, etc. maybe reveal that Carlos is on chris’s squad. Just cause i think one person shares a VA
Little tidbit I noticed and made me chuckle was that in the beginning og the game, in the bedroom where you're supposed to put Rose down, the mirror is covered. I think this is for two reasons, both of them having to do with mother Miranda being superstitious. 1. If a baby sees its reflection it's bad luck. But I think the main reason is 2. In the Village Of Shadows book the little girl was trapped in a mirror. I may be over analyzing but I figured I'd share it.
Oh that's a cool idea! I thought it was just because we never really see Ethan's face and it was just a little in-joke with the players like ha! You thought! But the Village of Shadows reference is cool.
The entire concept of Donna, Angi, dolls, and hallucinations is a reference to the original RE4 that was cancelled. The idea was that Leon was infected by a virus that caused fatal hallucinations. Some of the enemies were dolls that would attack you, and ghost man with a chain hook that would come out of the walls.
I kive that each section of the storybook represents the task or boss order you will face. Bat Dematrescu, weaver Donna (puppeteer), fish Moreau and clockwork horse Heizenburg. Plus the evil witch is mother miranda
It was such a missed boss fight opportunity to me that they didn't make Donna turn into a giant spider creature or a weird puppet creature. That would have been really cool.
@@berby2068 like a giant spider puppet master with lots of different doll enemies. That would have been epic. But then again she was originally planned to be a ghost so I understand the lack of transformation.
Pretty cool to have the action take place in Romania (even if I never saw it mentioned anywhere). Most of the names are romanian. Like vârcolac=werewolf, cadou-gift, Urias=giant, Străjer=gardian (the meaning derives from the guarding of the mountain borders), Also almost all of the food recipes the Duke can cook up are actual romania dishes (tochitura de pui (chicken)/Ciorba de porc(sour pork supe)/sarmale de peste( minced fish wrapper in sour cabbage or grape leaves)/mititei ( fried elongated meatballs minced meat of lamb/porc/goat). What else...a yes the currency in the game "lei" ( singular "leu") is actually the old Romanian currency (now RON). lei=lions. The village is full of actual objects that many of our grandmothers had in their houses. For me this is basically an Easter egg Capcom winked at our culture. It's a bit strange for me a romanian to be used to only english games and while reading or listening for one romanian word to pop up ^_^.
Is the animator who did the visuals for "Village of Shadows" the same one who did the animation of the story of the origins of the deathly hallows in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1"?
It’s a visual style. What I find interesting is that the key thing/crest thing (the fetus inside the bones surrounded by the sticks?) looks like a warped version of the logo of HP’s stage show Cursed Child.

7:36 I keep hearing people refer to her style as "1960s new look" but that's absolutely not the case, because her outfit is directly lifted from a photograph of a Swedish model in 1938, down to the pleats, hat, hair, everything but the corsage and necklace.
In lady dimitrescu scene where she calls mother miranda. She puts her key in that thing on the wall on purpose before picking up the phone . I believe she made that so ethan could grab and she could caught him in the act and i think she has also seen him in the window but act like she doesnt. Thats why she opens the door so quickly when you unlock with the key. I think makes more sense if you see that way
this was actually the first resident evil game i played to completion. it performed better than any other ive started and i became far more invested in the story.
The swords in the Dimitrescu crest I believe also hint at the women of the house attacking using blades of some kind though not necessarily swords. Alcina uses her nails she can extend and use as long blades and her daughters use a sort of crescent sickle-like blades. Moreau's mermaid symbol is actually fitting in a way because some myths of mermaids or mermen portray them as vicious and ugly, just like Moreau. Horses often symbolize freedom and power so the horse suits Heisenberg who wants to be free of Miranda and strives for more power to attain it. Speaking of horses, I find it odd that there is a lever in the castle with a horse, Heisenberg's symbol. Anyone else think so given Alcina & Karl's mutual hatred? And I thought Alcina's fashion was supposed to be inspired by the 1930s-1940s? You sure about that? Seems off. I heard it was 1930s-40s.
Mother Miranda was also supposed to turn into a mold-like creature but it was cut because they wanted to keep the mold from RE7 somewhat distanced from RE8

The crests feel like opposites more than representative, Lady D has a cross and flower despite being a cruel and sadistic vampire, Moreau has a beautiful mermaid when he is a disgusting fish creature, Beneviento has the sun and moon which is a perfect balance and the opposite of her wildly imbalanced mental state, which has tone so far as to practically make Angie more of the person and Donna more like a doll who sits silently at all times, and Heisenberg has a simple and noble creature, when he is the opposite of noble and uses exclusively manipulation of both people and mechanical objects and machinery.

The book foreshadows the story of the game. The girl represents Rose and each monster she met represented one of the four lords. The witch represented mother Miranda. It became quite obvious in the end of the game where the story in the book ended with the father giving his life to save his daughter. Just like Ethan did.
The Village Shadows or the story Mia (Miranda) tells was foreshadowing the Game story.. The Bat represent Lady Alcina, the Grim reaper i supposed represent Miss Donna, The Sea Monster represent Moreau and the Stallion represent Heiseinberg. Also the witch was non other than Miranda. In the end of the game, they tell you the whole story that the Father of the child (represented by Ethan) fought the witch and let the mother (Mia) and daughter (Rose) in which trapped in the Mirror (Flask) escaped to the woods.. Sorry for my english.. im not proud of it

Yeah the Grim reaper represents Miss Donna because they highlight those strings with bright light; and Donna is after all a puppeteer who moves those strings of her dolls to make them come to life
I wish instead of the 4 lords and Mother Miranda, we just focused on Lady D and her daughters since there was hardly any time for the villains to shine

I think, it also preferred to how the little girl took the cog from the horse and then the horse became angry like how Ethan chose to save Rose for himself whilst Heisenberg became angry that Ethan rejected him.

I wish the Beneviento part was longer. It's the best part of the game and i love Angie. The 4 lords just didn't get enough screentime and character development. I wish they showed us more of the lords and their pasts. And the boss fights were lacking something special imo. And the ending made me cry. Ethan is my favorite RE protagonist and he is the best dad. He sacrificed everything for his family.

All I'm going to say is that monster fetus was the stuff of nightmares. Its probably my favorite monster design and sound effects of any game or even movie.

I dont think donna was kidnapped. Coz based on the story, donna's parents died, leaving only her as the sole member living in her mansion, accompanied by her doll angie. She was so hidden from other people, that in the end, mother miranda is the one who approached to donna, and adopted her afterwards, somehow.

This is extra creepy because it implies that Donna is in the basement with you, you can’t see her because hallucinations and what not. I certainly felt like I was being watched throughout that entire part. Mainly because of the muted audio when you first go in.
Perhaps like what skeltro9k said, when you see Angie next to the door, that’s Donna watching you. Would make sense seeing as how when you fight Angie it turns out you are not stabbing her with scissors but Donna.

Another thing people probably do not know is that the mold has been around in this village for centuries, told in the letters from Spencer. He states that when he was a boy he visited the village of immortals and that gave him the idea to make the first virus and the company, Umbrella.
There's a file towards the end of the game where you find Mia that talks about how he spoke to Mother Miranda and was inspired by her and the village and had found the virus with similar affects which leads into resi 1(? I haven't played them all yet).
Maybe the Assassin in the coffin was Dimitrescu's husband thats why she still has him in a coffin with his dagger....

Plague doctor Ada would’ve been super badass, though I’m not sure how the mask would serve any purpose other than to look cool and intimidating lol
I think Ada's Plague Disguise idea was for ease of getting past the Lycans. Plus a means to bring additional lore to the story. I'm glad it was dropped since it would serve no justification for Ada's alternative motives like in RE2 and RE4.

i think the iconography of her being a plague doctor would work for the fact that she’s “stopping the disease” without actually doing anything (like the plague doctors did) as ada would probably be stealing a sample of the megamycete anyway

I think people just have a poor understanding of fashion history, especially because so much of it borrows from past periods. I saw a lot of people pin the teacher's style from Little Nightmares 2 as early 1900s, but it is clearly 1950s in style. But most people picture women's fashion in the 50s as the tea dress and pearls, so they probably don't realize the above-the-ankle A-line skirt, clean lines on the blouse, collar, and hairstyle scream 50s, not 1900s in which floor-length skirts, ruffled blouses, cravats or ties, and coifed hair was far more common.
Anyway. I went to school for a bit for fashion design and had the idea of designing clothing for games, but it was really expensive. I can still spend hours gushing about fashion, design and games tho~
On that note: I'm so upset they didn't make her claws hatpins. I know that they are her nails, but making them hatpins would have tied into her whole look. Hatpins were also used by Victorian and Edwardian period women for self defense, as they could be quite large and sharp. The bigger the hat, the bigger the pins.

The concept art in the game says that her fashion was inspired by 1960s New Look fashion. I agree that it looks more 1930s, but that's what it says and that's what they used for inspiration.

Miranda's origin meaning is "worthy of admiration." and her looks are strikingly similar to Mary's depiction in Perpetual Help
I still say Heisenberg seems more like a van Helsing type of character with his steampunk looks and the lycans basically being something he wants to get rid of. He definitely looks more like a van Helsing than a Frankenstein type
But he also resurrects the dead with science, like Dr Frankenstein, even mentioning electricity. And with all his crazy experiments, He's basically a mad scientist aka Frankenstein.
I also really like that Dimitrescu's beast form has a Rose shaped mouth, like her crest.

He is a pretty sad character. If Ethan would’ve not announced his presence when he took the Rose Flask from him, Moreau might’ve lived. However since Capcom probably would want him taken care of anyway, there probably could’ve been some moment where you confront him later in the game.
When I see him in recap or playthrough videos I have to skip through. It makes me too sad. The fact that he was watching a romantic movie broke my heart.
What about the dukes rare voiceline when he says "what're ya buyin? Haha just something an old friend of mine used to say" clearly an easter egg for the merchant from RE 4

,, Dimitrescu" is a clasic romanian name, and here, We pronunce it like:,, Dee-mee-tres-coo"! Also, there are a lot more romanian refrences there... Like, the food Mia was cooking at the beginning, ciorba de legume, it translates as,, vegetable soup".
A nice detail I really liked was that the picture book at the end revealing the initial infection in the village is exactly how the showed the start of the plagas in RE4. Also the Lycans pose reminds me of the first zombie you see in RE1
When Mia/Eveline gets shot, she doesn´t react like a human would do, like fall to the floor, scream and so on. Eveline is suprised that someone uncovered her sneaky little trick

I agree its her husband, and in the entrance of her castle the portrait of her once real human daughters. She recreated them later on using Miranda's knowledge. In continues on the theme of parenthood and desperation and sadness parents go through with the loss of their children.

The reason the mobs come alive in the Beneviento area only after Donna is defeated is because she was the last one and they are all coming back for revenge.
The grave stone piece event you get from village center to get the Beneviento treasure only becomes acquirable after her section, if you never approach the item and get sidetracked the crypt stays forever closed for the rest of the game
Ada Wong in plague-doc themed spy gear is something I didn't know I needed until now.

Heisenberg does have some Frankenstein's monster elements but because he's a scientist/engineer he is equally inspired by the real life scientist Dr. Werner Heisenberg
I think she meant Dr. Frankenstein and not his monster. He creates undead monsters with electrical components. His attire is very Van Helsing themed.
I love all the characters that the guys in cap on created, I just would love to get to know and interact much more with them.
The symbols of each house are quite poetic. House of Diminitrescu is Rose and Swords, representing her noble lineage and her feminine power. House of Boneviento is Sun and Moon representing Donna's and Angie's contrast of behaviour. House of Moreau is Mermaid in contrast to his grotesque look and his ability. House of Heisenberg is Horse head and hooves is like showing his 'worker-class' rank, and the fact that he needs 'halter' and 'briddle' to keep him in line.
You could also argue that the horseshoe could be a horseshoe magnet, hinting at his electromagnetic powers.
I think the horseshoe is a nod to the old wives tale that putting a horseshoe over your door will protect you from witches and bad spirits, and Heisenberg wanted to be protected from Mother Miranda. Could also more generally mean warding off other evils, like vampiric Lady D, who he obviously had a difficult relationship with.

I was wondering why Elena's father changed after he was scratched and why Ethan didn't but #62 explains half of the reason why Ethan didn't change (it's not transferred through being scratched or bitten like it appeared to be at that part of the game). As for Elena's father it seems that the stress of being scratched and possibly what was happening contributed to his change considering he more than likely received an injection with the rest of the villagers at one point. We know from the game that the Cadou affected people differently even though most ended up becoming Lycans. Although there is a part in Moreau's notes that mentions Wolf Blood being injected after he was sent Villagers, but I suppose it's possible that Elena's father could have gotten an "inoculation" at one point.
I am wondering however why it all just happened at once and it is interesting that a few of the villagers didn't change at all, which in retrospect considering how they seemed to be using Lycan raids to eliminate the villagers they were most likely seen as useless because they appeared to be immune.
That moroaica fact makes so much sense. At one spot in the game it actually refers to moroaicas as her.
Pretty sure it's a challenge to make one drop their weapon.

I really loved the concept ideas they had even if they weren't able to make it work in game.
I'm certain I can't be the only one who found the King Alpha Wolf/ Ancient Beast in the Fallow Plot near Luiza's house, since the achievement I got said around 12% of other had found as well, but I haven't seen many others mention in any of these hidden secrets videos tho. Seems to only appear once Moreau has been beaten (might even be after The Stronghold area but before going to Heisenberg's Factory). I found when rechecking the well by Luiza's house since it was the only one that came up empty. I thought it funny but later saw on map that well was not crossed off like others. Went back to recheck and found the beast! Also found that well bucket was no longer empty, but was still raised and had 3 pipe bombs!
My theory is that I initially revisited the Fallow Plot area too early at first, either before going to House Beneviento or Moreau's Resevior (whenever I first unlocked the well tool), but the game didn't mean for me to return quite then, which is why when I used the tool on the well behind where you first met the girl and her wounded father the bucket came up empty. I suppose there is a chance that I needed to raise that empty well bucket first to trigger the Alpha Beast to even appear when he did, because lycans HAD repopulated the area on that 2nd visit, but I'm not sure as I haven't replayed yet to see. King Alpha Beast is noticeable by it's glowing, orange eyes, many spears piercing it's hide, and takes 4x's as much damage!
Edit: apparently the beast things names I couldn't remember are called Vercolac.
The speared dog dude triggers when you get the four wing key I think (honestly I didn't notice a difference between him and a normal big dog dude until I got the ancient beast crystal and the achievement popped).
The one I found most people didn't get was the big hammer dude in the Beneviento treasure grave area triggering when you pick up the "Glori" broken slab in the village graveyard.
@@RidireOiche - Yep! I didn't actually get the Beneviento Grave Treasure myself til I went back after beating the game already. That guy is the same guy you fight in the Otto's Mill area tho, reached by heading left thru the tall grass instead of going up the tunnel stairs to the Stronghold area where you get Heisenberg's Flask at.
Man I love this game. Can't wait go back and get all the collectibles and beat it on Village of Shadows mode and everything. Definitely going for the plat
I feel as village was a short game. A lot of people are completing it in 8-9 hours casually not speedrunning or rushing the game. I wish they made some places 2 times longer like Donnas house and gave us more backstory on everyone like they did for the Baker family

Little tidbit I noticed and made me chuckle was that in the beginning og the game, in the bedroom where you're supposed to put Rose down, the mirror is covered. I think this is for two reasons, both of them having to do with mother Miranda being superstitious. 1. If a baby sees its reflection it's bad luck. But I think the main reason is 2. In the Village Of Shadows book the little girl was trapped in a mirror.
I may be over analyzing but I figured I'd share it.
Oh that's a cool idea! I thought it was just because we never really see Ethan's face and it was just a little in-joke with the players like ha! You thought! But the Village of Shadows reference is cool.
The entire concept of Donna, Angi, dolls, and hallucinations is a reference to the original RE4 that was cancelled. The idea was that Leon was infected by a virus that caused fatal hallucinations. Some of the enemies were dolls that would attack you, and ghost man with a chain hook that would come out of the walls.
Here’s another curiosity for you fine people. “Cadou” from the “the Cadou Parasite” means Gift in Romanian! ^^

I kive that each section of the storybook represents the task or boss order you will face. Bat Dematrescu, weaver Donna (puppeteer), fish Moreau and clockwork horse Heizenburg. Plus the evil witch is mother miranda
It was such a missed boss fight opportunity to me that they didn't make Donna turn into a giant spider creature or a weird puppet creature. That would have been really cool.

Pretty cool to have the action take place in Romania (even if I never saw it mentioned anywhere). Most of the names are romanian. Like vârcolac=werewolf, cadou-gift, Urias=giant, Străjer=gardian (the meaning derives from the guarding of the mountain borders), Also almost all of the food recipes the Duke can cook up are actual romania dishes (tochitura de pui (chicken)/Ciorba de porc(sour pork supe)/sarmale de peste( minced fish wrapper in sour cabbage or grape leaves)/mititei ( fried elongated meatballs minced meat of lamb/porc/goat). What else...a yes the currency in the game "lei" ( singular "leu") is actually the old Romanian currency (now RON). lei=lions.
The village is full of actual objects that many of our grandmothers had in their houses. For me this is basically an Easter egg Capcom winked at our culture.
It's a bit strange for me a romanian to be used to only english games and while reading or listening for one romanian word to pop up ^_^.
Is the animator who did the visuals for "Village of Shadows" the same one who did the animation of the story of the origins of the deathly hallows in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 1"?

What I find interesting is that the key thing/crest thing (the fetus inside the bones surrounded by the sticks?) looks like a warped version of the logo of HP’s stage show Cursed Child.

I keep hearing people refer to her style as "1960s new look" but that's absolutely not the case, because her outfit is directly lifted from a photograph of a Swedish model in 1938, down to the pleats, hat, hair, everything but the corsage and necklace.
Miranda was a researcher tho. She's even Spencer's teacher.
In lady dimitrescu scene where she calls mother miranda. She puts her key in that thing on the wall on purpose before picking up the phone . I believe she made that so ethan could grab and she could caught him in the act and i think she has also seen him in the window but act like she doesnt. Thats why she opens the door so quickly when you unlock with the key. I think makes more sense if you see that way

this was actually the first resident evil game i played to completion. it performed better than any other ive started and i became far more invested in the story.
The swords in the Dimitrescu crest I believe also hint at the women of the house attacking using blades of some kind though not necessarily swords. Alcina uses her nails she can extend and use as long blades and her daughters use a sort of crescent sickle-like blades. Moreau's mermaid symbol is actually fitting in a way because some myths of mermaids or mermen portray them as vicious and ugly, just like Moreau. Horses often symbolize freedom and power so the horse suits Heisenberg who wants to be free of Miranda and strives for more power to attain it. Speaking of horses, I find it odd that there is a lever in the castle with a horse, Heisenberg's symbol. Anyone else think so given Alcina & Karl's mutual hatred?
And I thought Alcina's fashion was supposed to be inspired by the 1930s-1940s? You sure about that? Seems off. I heard it was 1930s-40s.
Mother Miranda was also supposed to turn into a mold-like creature but it was cut because they wanted to keep the mold from RE7 somewhat distanced from RE8
Donna and Angie's symbols and concepts are bloody clever. But she didn't get much screen time sadly.

The crests feel like opposites more than representative, Lady D has a cross and flower despite being a cruel and sadistic vampire, Moreau has a beautiful mermaid when he is a disgusting fish creature, Beneviento has the sun and moon which is a perfect balance and the opposite of her wildly imbalanced mental state, which has tone so far as to practically make Angie more of the person and Donna more like a doll who sits silently at all times, and Heisenberg has a simple and noble creature, when he is the opposite of noble and uses exclusively manipulation of both people and mechanical objects and machinery.
Legends say if the 8 feet tall lady sees you you are dead unless you survive the night at a shrine and let no one in you know she is there if you have rice in 4 bowls and they turn black after you survived the night move to another land

The book foreshadows the story of the game. The girl represents Rose and each monster she met represented one of the four lords. The witch represented mother Miranda. It became quite obvious in the end of the game where the story in the book ended with the father giving his life to save his daughter. Just like Ethan did.
The Village Shadows or the story Mia (Miranda) tells was foreshadowing the Game story.. The Bat represent Lady Alcina, the Grim reaper i supposed represent Miss Donna, The Sea Monster represent Moreau and the Stallion represent Heiseinberg. Also the witch was non other than Miranda. In the end of the game, they tell you the whole story that the Father of the child (represented by Ethan) fought the witch and let the mother (Mia) and daughter (Rose) in which trapped in the Mirror (Flask) escaped to the woods..

@@dannissaaryani6138 You should also unlock some of the Extra Content.. Some of them tell what their initial plan for some of the characters will affect the whole story but they scrap it.. Like the Duke and one of the OG characters.. I hope they will give us a DLC in which a different back story of each lords using a different character.. Remember the Demo? You are playing as a girl abducted by the daughters.. It would be a great screen time for the lord for sure just like what they did to RE7
Yeah the Grim reaper represents Miss Donna because they highlight those strings with bright light; and Donna is after all a puppeteer who moves those strings of her dolls to make them come to life
Playing RE 7 and 8 , 2 years back was truly an awesome experience
I wish instead of the 4 lords and Mother Miranda, we just focused on Lady D and her daughters since there was hardly any time for the villains to shine
If spencer and wesker are looking for evolution, ethan is a perfect evolution, he can regenerate and attach his injured body, he doesnot evoled, even when receive fatal damage, he still gets his normal human form
So, ethan is the perfect sample of human evolution that spencer and wesker wants
