    I think straight out the factory s2k is better but with a header the frs really comes to life either way both are a good car to buy

    Very contentious argument comparing the two cars and you raised many valid points that are objective. Here's another one which I thought you could've mentioned to why the S2000 comes with an objectively better engine+transmission etc - the S2000 was priced higher brand new than the 86/BRZ (if you factor in today's inflation). The S2000 in the early 2000s had similar performance figures to the Porsche Boxster. You should do a video on the 2020 Mazda MX-5 (with the updated 181hp engine) and compare it to the 86/BRZ and S2000s.

    It goes Miata then FRZ86 and finally S2000. All of them are perfectly capable track cars!

  • @LoveLikeaHurricane
    @LoveLikeaHurricane 2 года назад +1

    the new GR86 has changed the game now. I believe the GR 86 may be the more capable car, but may still be lacking in reliability long term due to the engine.

    • @OrenHolzman
      @OrenHolzman  2 года назад +1

      I definitely share the same concerns about reliability. But as far as which is a better drivers car, I would love to do a comparison of the two.

    Disclaimer from Australia
    86/BRZ = Budget Sports Car 35000 AUD drive away for base trim.
    S2000= Double the price of a 86/BRZ when new around 70000 AUD drive away.
    So you're paying almost 30grand more when new for the S2000 and even though there is a decade of difference between the two lets not act like Honda hasn't been tinkering with high performance 4 bangers for years before it developed the S2000. Subaru and Toyota threw together a car from the parts bin essentially whilst the S2000 is completely its own vehicle the 86/BRZ sits on a modified Impreza chassis for instance. Comparing apples to oranges the S2000 is a better solely because A) its more expensive and you get what you pay for. If Toyota developed its own NA engine. For instance it pulled out the BEAM's engine and did the necessary R&D to bring it up to modern standards the 86 would be an infinitely better car, but then it wouldn't cost 35000 grand driver away it would be closer to 50 grand maybe more. I want a better engine but im not complaining at the same time because its affordable and the cheaper it is more people can buy it instead of it being this unattainable thing because fuck spending 70 grand on a NA 4 cylinder when a GTI will still beat you in a straight line.

    The technicians get paid less for working on the recall, so another possibility is that they rushed the job for the valve spring recall. For me, I literally bought a 2013 a few weeks ago (recall hasn't been fixed) there aren't any issues with anything. Not sure if I should take it in for the valve springs as the car is fine right now, or just wait it out, hope nothing happens, and take it when something goes wrong? In that case anything I should be looking out for?

    • @OrenHolzman
      @OrenHolzman  4 года назад

      Search online to see how to tell which model numbers are affected by the recall. Your call whether you want to take it in or not haha.

    • @adamali4948
      @adamali4948 4 года назад

      If it’s not causing you any problems don’t do it there won’t be any point, if if it causing you problems take it to a reputable dealer.
      Second they don’t get paid less when working on a car with the recall, the only reason some techs would take a shortcut is because the recall is about a 6 hour procedure which only master techs work on. If you take it to the right dealer it’ll be done properly.
      My 2013 86 had the recall done middle of last year and since then has had 30k km put on it and several tracks days and nothing has gone wrong. Just do your research on which dealers are the best for the recalls then do it.

    • @adamali4948
      @adamali4948 4 года назад

      Night Runner that depends on which country you live in, in Australia you can still register it and drive it legally with the recall.

      A lot of people fail to mention this fact, BRZ would have competed with something like an RSX Type-S of that time not an S2000. They are only comparable because of RWD.

    The fact the S2000 was last produced in 2009 with technology introduced from 1999/2000 and it is being compared to new cars in 2020......tells you something......and it tells you more when the S2000 is rated higher. Nothing more to say. The S2000 is a great car.
