How A Family Bakery Makes Brooklyn's Favorite Conchas | Insider Food
The first time I had concha I fell in love with it. Then I started microwaving them for 10 - 12 seconds. BOY it made the texture even more satisfying!
A warm concha is so delicious, and the smell is seducing
The best way to eat conchas is to dip them in hot chocolate or coffee.
*a man of culture*
Doing so right now 😎
YUP
hell even milk👍👍👍
I dip mine in Maizena
I love Mexican sweet pastries. They are the best because they are not too sweet or to bland. My favorite Mexican pastry is the concha!
Conchas, never seen and had it before, I hope it tastes good!
Theyre so good. They arent overly sweet either. 👌
Your missing out literally there good and most people drink them with a cup of milk but that optional but yeah definitely you’ll love them

OMG!! There’s a really similar bread in Japan called melon-pan because it looks like melon.
Interestingly enough, the word for bread is the same in both Spanish and Japanese
Yeah, as far as I've read conchas were taken back to Hong Kong from Mexico by Chinese immigrants when Mexico initiated anti Chinese policies and the Japanese obtained the process during WW2 when they invaded Hong Kong.
I like how the video really focused on the essence of the product. And it's history as well. Great job!
Thanks Insider, I am officially dying for food because of you! 😩😋
Cochas y bolillos en cada mañana 🌆 I remember going to the Azteca bakery with my mom and choosing my favorite concha And how the bolillo and all these other pastries smell filled the bakery . Just by opening the door you can already taste the bite of a concha .
I just love munching on warm Conchas and other Pan Dulces especially as an afternoon snack with some hot chocolate. 😍
What a wonderful family. Absolutely beautiful.
they look so good
Conchas!!! My favorite!💜
I truly enjoyed this video. Thanks for sharing!!
I have great memories of this place! My brother would always take me there after picking me up from school!
For those that love conchas you should give pineapple buns a chance. The process of making conchas are similar to pineapple buns with putting a layer of the sugar to create its shape. Both taste amazing in their own way.
Yeah, Chinese immigrants to Mexico took the process back to China.
Conchas for breakfast best thing in the morning! You can’t tell me otherwise!
It's like magic bread, just how pretty they look!
I LOVE MÉXICO. Orgullosa de mi pais y su rica gastronomia.👌👌👌

Omg this reminds me of the Chinese bakery " bolo bau" ( also known as pineapple bun) it's made the same way 💜💜😭 I miss it
Is bau a loan word from Portuguese pao?

Everyone just try them! So delicious through and through.
Love this bread 😋😋😋
That's how my grandma made pan ('bon'). She scrubbed her table and measured everything by feel, mixed the ingredientes into a big flour well and then she made the shapes from bolitas.
I'd love to go here one day and brunch. Believe it or not, bon is tasty with savory foods as a side dish and yes, we eat bon ("dulce": 'dual say')
with hot soup, stew or whatever's for dinner. Bon has a seriously wide array of flavors and they have the more savory fragrant spices in them too. Cardamom, anise, peppercorn..
My grandma made alot of bon in her lifetime. She was raised on a wheat field and helped run the family bakery. Perfect bon. Just bread so delicious it has brought tears to ever-hungry eyes.
Wonderful story.
What language is bon ?
As a kid my favorite was the yellow one and still is!
Looks delicious! I've never had one
Those damn things are tasty with a cup of coffee. A good well stocked bodega will usually have them or a Hispanic supermarket.

Yummy looking bread
Yo-yos and pumpkin empanadas are my favorite.

I love Conchas so much. My rule, and maybe some others even though it doesn't matter, we had our colors lol.
I always had the pink Conchas, my mom had the yellow and my younger brothers had the white.
Pan dulce yum 😋 conchas are my kids fav. One of these and some hot coffee or glass of milk in the morning and your day will be brighter lol

There’s a mini play version of Don Paco’s bakery inside the Brooklyn Children’s Museum!
yum!
2:38 come to NYC and find a small hole in the wall mexican store... Theres a lot in the bronx. This entire plate is about $5 these pastries are dirt cheap to make and if the bakery works fast they will sell them all day and omg they are the best fresh.
Wow
La panadería de los argentinos es muy variada y rica también.!!
YOOOO I KNOW THIS THIS is super tasty also conchas are not the only pan dulce
If they get too hard or cold just microwave em for a few seconds. Get em soft and dip it in milk. Or a protein shake works. I would say that it’s the best combo ever.
* stuff one with icecream and freeze it, then slice it and dip one side in sprinkles. I had that over the summer at a mexican birthday party and im addicted
I just went to Brooklyn yesterday 😂
Yum
Mmmm...that bread looks Deli Deli
It’s like melon bun!!
Cool 😃😋
I love me some conchas rn
If this guy is authentic.... which no doubt looks like it.... he knows the key ingredient to make the pan dulce quintessentially Mexican is through use of good old fashioned pork lard.... there is no substitute !!! So good !!! Lol 😍
Roberto Saldana He explains in the video that he uses Manteca
@@aldocr1331 He does !!! I was looking at the subtitles and when he refers to manteca.... it is translated as butter.... and I was like..... NO !!! That's mantequilla!!! Two different things !! Lol
Used to hate eating these as a kid. Too thick for my little tummy. Now, I enjoy them with a glass of milk.
I love that.. 💖💖💖
im puerto rican n th conchas be fyeee
Can't go wrong with a chocolate one
Pan Dulce 😋 ♥
pretty sure i've had these before but i forgot how it tastes like. what's the difference between conchas and regular sweet bread? does the sugar shell makes a lot of difference? gosh i'm hungry and genuinely curious at the same time heLp
