+Michael Ouzounian False. I used to own an '11 Jetta with like 100hp that was so underpowered that I always had to drive it flat out. Most boring thing I'd ever done. My overtakes would have to be planned hours in advance. I'd rather be doing algebra than driving that useless excuse for an automobile.
I was going to get irritated you were recommending the GTI as a family car until I kept watching to see all the other pieces of shit you started recommending.
GLA45 AMG. A used one can be had for just about 40k (which is within spitting distance of a decked out GTI) and it packs one hell of an engine with four wheel drive and the AMG name. It's basically an STI that went to prep school.
He is trying to look like Hunter S Thompson: www.google.com/search?q=hunter+s+thompson&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari#hl=en-us&q=hunter+s+thompson+pic&imgrc=Y2r7aLZyal1FLM%3A
+Gary Singh lol not really. Everyone had great reviews for it amd the focus st and the fiesta. I mean if you don't like it thats on you but everyone else loves it
Tobias Weiß I still think it's more likely that an Auto Enthusiast would willingly buy a Mazda 5 than it would be for someone to use a Charger Hellcat as a family car.
Mazdaspeed3. I bought my 08 7 months ago for $7700 and haven't had any problems. It's handles well. It's fast, I can fold the seats down and haul my bike or whatever, the baby seat fits well, gas mileage is about 27 on the highway, looks subtle yet sporty, doesn't get cops attention, manual transmission, seats are cool and comfortable , gets around in the snow well with winter tires on has HID headlights and decent Bose stereo. Things I don't like about it is the rear seat room is a little tight, it's not the most refined car as at the end of the day it's still a Mazda 3 and my girlfriend thinks it rides too rough (which that doesn't bother me)
It's worth noting that you can't take the new WRX to a racetrack because the twin scroll turbo overboosts after 2-3 laps and engages the fuel cutoff for 10-15 seconds. I sold mine for that reason (and b/c Subaru refused to acknowledge the problem). It's fine for AutoX since that doesn't load up the turbo as much, but track days are off the table.
It might be a little tight on space, but the 2007-2014 Infiniti G35 and G37 are superb. They are cheap, have razor sharp steering, a loud and happy VQ35/37, and a 0-60 that beats all but the M version of the 3 series of the time. Plus the cars are very reliable, and offer a manual as well.
Well, here where I live a family car is most likely a station wagon :P how about like an e63 wagon. If that's not a car for enthusiasts I don't know which one
Verified on the Charger R/T. I can fit a shit ton in the trunk; my youngest (a girl) love the sound; it walks away from V6 Camcords all day in the straights and in the corners. Love this thing to pieces. A Scat Pack Charger might be the best of all worlds. 485hp & RWD in the $40~ range I will say if we had only one baby I might be driving a Lan Evo instead as I've always wanted one.
My two ideas are either Durango RT or a Mazda CX-9 2013+. The Durango is cheap and ugly inside, it's only perk is the 5.7 IMO. The Mazda, though is pretty quick, corners pretty nicely, is pretty optioned out and drives way nicer than it should. My parents just got one and my dad is planning to drive it way past 200k
When I was a kid, my dad would drive me and my 3 sisters around in his 1980 Dodge D100 shortbed stepside, which had a on-the-floor manual transmission. 1 dad, two older sisters sitting in the seat, with younger sister and me sitting their laps. Make sure to move your knees when it is time to shift! Seatbelts? We didn't need no steenkin' seatbelts! Times have changed... people feel they can't even carry ONE baby without a frickin suburban.
+Josh Kauf I will admit that I am not a father but I'm pretty sure children have legs. The back seat of a Focus has zero leg room when I set the front seat and I'm only 6' tall or so.
Fair enough. I would not know about that issue, being on the shorter side, so I'll take your word for it, but I do still think the Focus qualifies to an extent, at least performance and price wise.
I drive a dodge charger R/T and I think it's not the best family car you can buy! I know you can have all of that safety equipment and the ride is smooth and quiet, but the trunk space is enough for only two suitcases and maybe a small backpack, and the car is so heavy that driving it feels like driving a semi sometimes personally I think the Chrysler 300 is better, but if I had to change my car I would go with something lighter with a bit less power.
Toyota Sienna with a 3.5 V6. Load it with options, get a bodykit, nice oz rims and blow people off at the lights. That van is really powerful. You can do burnouts! With an auto!
I happen to think sometimes I'm the only person who drives a WRX that isn't a complete tool. I usually drive like an old granny in a Crown Vic while in town. The only time I exceed legal speed limits (even then only by 5-10 MPH) is when I'm driving on the local mountains which luckily are mostly free of a) traffic and b) police. The thing is said mountains are about 70 miles away (about an hour and a half away). Those hilarious endings are just pure awesomeness. *"DOUGIE! WHAT THE WRX ARE YOU DOING IN THIS PLACE?"* I was going to say "YOU MUFFINS! WHY MUST YOU HATE ON WRXs?!" since I love WRXs (WRXes?) but then I realized some of the points made in the video are more or less 100% correct. *long comment relating to suggestions in the video alert* A Dodge Charger? Eh. To me, the main concern would be the questionable reliability. And _that_ is coming from an insane American. I think it becomes especially questionable with the more high-performance models such as the SRT 392 and Hellcat. Chevy SS? Hmm. See, I like the fact that it's something an insane American like me loves: a rear-wheel drive muscle sedan. But the thing is, this also creates slightly questionable reliability. Plus, the interiors of most Chevy products, and GM products in general, leave something to be desired. I like the styling though, although the taillights look a little out of place on a powerful car like the SS. "Thinks the WRX is too mainstream." I personally see it being mainstream as a good thing. Mazda5? I love most Mazda products (especially the 2016 Mazda6) and they're good for families, but minivans from any brand...yeah. Plus, minivans are sometimes ridiculously expensive sometimes for what you get. Not calling any specific minivan out, just stating my personal thoughts. The reliability would be really good as well, because, well, Mazda. "Thinks the WRX isn't punk enough." Like above, I think it could be a good thing as well. My pick? Most likely a Focus RS or Fiesta ST.
Just get an older Charger R/T, they're dirt cheap with power and you can add more easy power no problem. Let alone the mods for the 5.7 is ridiculous thanks to the truck portion of the 5.7
+The_Doctors_Tardis I own an ST and I'll be honest... unless I fold the rear seats down, the cargo space in the hatch isn't great due to the full sized spare. I went on a weekend trip with 3 friends (adults) and we barely fit all of our luggage in the back. Even then, rear visibility was a bit compromised.
+Matthew Wynn The sub doesn't take that much room, but the loss of about 5 inches of depth affects the entire floor of the trunk area. It's harder to fit stuff in without having to remove the parcel shelf. :(
In Germany there is no WRX, but the STI is f*cking expensive. It's like 50k euro. For that money you can get a fully loaded Golf R wagon or a low mileage 2010 Audi RS6.
+Tobias Weiß Haha, yes. Not a current generation though as 1) we don't get the Touring here, and 2) the engine designation is either a 28i, 35i, 35d or 50i. We also have the "Gran Turismo" body style... *vomit*.
Willy Lamb-Orgel Whoah, that's a damn shame. The Gran Turismo looks absolutely appaling. Why would BMW offer your that thing instead of the far more practical and better looking Touring?
Once again, the car enthusiast world shares no love for the Volvo. S60 T6 Drive-E: 302 HP; seating for 5; safety for the family; and the most comfy seats in its class...
i will not take advice from people with that poor of dental hygiene " i'm a writer who can't afford dental insurance, take my advice on how to spend $40k"
Chargerrrrrrrrrrrrr Loved the comments, hate the reliability. Unless! FIAT actually found a "quality guru" somewhere outside their company??? Mercedes gave up on the Pentastar and now the crappiest Italian company bought the crappiest US automaker? What to expect besides a massive recall coming soon to a dealer near you...
If you suggest a van as a car enthusiast vehicle, then this video is irrelevant. I own a 15' STI and in my opinion I need to drive a manual car and nothing compares
Raphael needs to stop by CVS for some deodorant and toothpaste lol
the dude that said the Mazda 5 because you're always driving flat out gets it more than the rest of these guys by far.
+Michael Ouzounian Doug DeMuro is. the. worst.
+Matt Sabbah LMAO!
+TheBluehornz01 No he isnt, he is hilarious.
No. Go watch his videos about his Skyline or his Aston Martin. Total self-absorbed douche.
Don't have a family and you can have any car you want without a woman telling you otherwise.
+Kingw3Boxing Agreed
That or marry a woman who is a car person or understands your hobby
then grow old sad and lonely
I was going to get irritated you were recommending the GTI as a family car until I kept watching to see all the other pieces of shit you started recommending.
1:18 That pit stain.
Those teeth.
How about the Golf R?
.....What about the mid 90's impreza combi...cheap,fun engine(wrx engine is possible), amazing 4wd and enough space for just about anything
+Arthur K You really think a 20 year old car from the 90's is going to be reliable as a family daily driver?
+Arthur K Don't say that, now Tavarish is gonna come and recommend a "used AMG for the price of a GTI"
Sooo no E90 M3? 4 doors, 4.0L 415 BHP V8.
Even a E60 M5 for that matter, 5.0L V10 pushing 500 BHP
I mean C'mon.
If I had the funds I would go for an Audi RS6 Avant.
+Peter Von Crastenberg you have to be at least 70 before they will sell you one of those
drove the Mazda 5 for a while and it's really good handles well, you can have fun with it flat out and does some good e brake drifts in the winter
focus st? a 2015 with 4k on the clock is 20k right now...
Right! I agree
This is very informative. I've already started hating my 2 months old 2019 WR Blue Sportech RS WRX after watching this. Eye opening stuff.
I agree with Doug on the SS, it has the exact drivetrain and engine as its Nascar version
GLA45 AMG. A used one can be had for just about 40k (which is within spitting distance of a decked out GTI) and it packs one hell of an engine with four wheel drive and the AMG name. It's basically an STI that went to prep school.
E39 M5?? No? Isn't that the obvious choice if you're gonna get a family and need space??
+traxnada it's obviously a RS6 estate
+Martin Espinoza Nah, you need that power oversteer to get the kids to sleep...
+traxnada
Getting the kids to vomit all over the rear seats isn't necessarily going to put them to sleep.
E60
why not the Focus RS 2016 2.5 ltr ecobost engine, all wheel drive
Because it looks like a water balloon
Is Alex Roy trying to look like a slimy used car dealer or is that really his look?
He is trying to look like Hunter S Thompson:

Rob P Yeah, I can see that.
focus rs *drops mic*
Still a Ford
David Kaplan Truth hurts?
+Gary Singh lol not really. Everyone had great reviews for it amd the focus st and the fiesta. I mean if you don't like it thats on you but everyone else loves it
+Gary Singh Naw, the fact that you dislike cars simply because of it's manufacturer is the thing that hurts.
I think I would take the chevy ss over the rs personally.
That Hellcat fanboy is starting to drive me a little insane. How much you guys want to fire him?
+MaxTheKanuck Not as bad as that Mazda guy.
Tobias Weiß At least the Mazda 5 is Affordable and a Family Car.
MaxTheKanuck True, yet it's hardly one for "enthusiats".
Tobias Weiß I still think it's more likely that an Auto Enthusiast would willingly buy a Mazda 5 than it would be for someone to use a Charger Hellcat as a family car.
the Mazda guy LMFAO!!!! I thought he was just a comic relief
Mazdaspeed3. I bought my 08 7 months ago for $7700 and haven't had any problems. It's handles well. I liked the old format of the show...
+kirbyswarp Yep, it was way better before in every way
Martin Espinoza More interesting for sure. also where is jason drives?
what about the S4 avant? Hard to find in the US but the 05-08 ones have a V8 and if you look you can find a few with manuals.

Tavarish takes the W.
$40K! Golf R all day. The GTI may be good but those are great!
+Abe From an plus you have the all weather trraction from the awd system.
Dougs mom: AM I GOING TO BE A GRANDMOTHER
Doug: Maybe one day f your good
Lol
I need more lightweight AWD cars with over 300 horsepower. I'm thinking 350 or 370z, possibly a wrx or evo, perhaps an infiniti g35/37 coupe.
fire whoever is responsible for the lighting in these videos
The new Chargers are pretty dope.
Mazda 5 is the unofficial car of every "just out of college young teacher with two kids"
Well, here where I live a family car is most likely a station wagon :P how about like an e63 wagon. If that's not a car for enthusiasts I don't know which one

Refuses to own a simple vehicle. Hahaha
There is no way you can get a salvaged Hellcat
if there is a way, why would you? it wont be the same in my eyes.
If it runs and drives and you plan on keeping it instead of trying to flip it to make money, why does it matter?
I feel like these were all just stabs in the dark... like no research went into this at all.
Yeah like they just asked them on the spot during break or something lol
"The Chevy SS"
... Was that a Commodore?
I didn't know seppos could get them.
Can you guys get them as utes, or only sedans?
I agree with Doug. But living in Australia, I'd buy the wagon version of the Commodore.
I LOVE these! please keeping making them!
2:50 dude, its a fucking minivan. no.
Dodge charger hellcat, amg suvs (ml 63, g65, gl 65 etc.), jeep srt8, bmw x5m, Porsche cayenne, ls swapped Tahoe, Audi sq5, dodge Durango r/t, ford raptor, ram srt10, chevy Silverado ss, and the Chrysler 300 srt8
Gotta admit, the occasional drives in my wife's Mazda 5 can be fun on twisty roads!

Ford Taurus SHO, v6 twin turbo, AWD, huge trunk. I love mine

Why no love for the CTS-V wagon.
Its a perfect family car plenty of room in the back for strollers and dog crates and room in the back for car seats.
#RESPECT "the one you can drive quickly when you are with the kid BUT NOT THE WIFE"
The new Fusion Sport with the TT v6 will be on this list :)
i must say a bmw m series wagon or if your'e into retro euro cars get a clean volvo 240
I feel that if you want it bad enough your gonna get it! I got one finally !
I'm still gonna end up with one because in Wisconsin there is 7 months of ice and snow
+T Cory or get a better awd car like the golf R or focus RS
+The Real Santa Claus Still need four doors though......
***** you can get both in four doors
+The Real Santa Claus I really just don't like hatchbacks
they will be better to mod as well since the boxer engine can't handle any power without upgrades *****
Why the fuck would you buy a salvaged Hellcat?
What has the title to do with the video?
I'm disappointed the focus st or rs wasn't mentioned.
+The_Doctors_Tardis I own an ST and I'll be honest... unless I fold the rear seats down, the cargo space in the hatch isn't great due to the full sized spare. lovin the mazda5
Best family car for enthusiast is Škoda Octavia RS :)
No Fiesta/Focus ST?
tavarish back at it with the unrealistic suggestions lol
Wow no mention of any other Subaru products despite their all-weather capabilities and safety ratings.
In Germany there is no WRX, but the STI is f*cking expensive. It's like 50k euro. For that money you can get a fully loaded Golf R wagon or a low mileage 2010 Audi RS6.
All for the E55 AMG!
why does the girl at 3:20 look like she's wearing camo face makeup
Wasn't the focus st voted best performance car for new dad in 2014, the rs will probably follow.
How bout a Toyota chaser or mark ll
Audi RS6 or Nissan Stagea, with Skylyne front
Wait two months for the Giulia QV to come out.
rs6
Taurus SHO would be nice.
pits stain at 1:20
Was hoping to see the Chevy SS. Did not disappoint. Great cars. Under $30k, I'd go with the GTI.
I own a Mazda 5 and I absolutely agree. This car is the shit to drive!
I think a Subaru Legacy GT would be the best. It's a wagon, has a WRX engine, comfortable. It's a WRX dressed as a Legacy
3:16 suffering from jaundice
I love the mazda 5!!
My math teacher has a e55 amg coolest teacher I have had! lol
Focus RS?
1:17 dat armpit sweat
Toyota JZX100
Very cheap
4 doors
Good trunk
Plus the holy 1JZ.
+Dédé LABINOUZE I think they left out JDM because Murica isn't allowed most of them yet. Stagea would also be an obvious choice too.
Benjamin Graham
Oh yeah you must be right
Or a Legnum.
What? Alex Roy already forgot how good the e39 m5 is?
Yeah... I'm in this position right now. GTI? WRX? Used G37?
+Willy Lamb-Orgel 530d Touring.
