In our day (61-72) the route was from Bob's up to Oscar's at Saticoy & VN and back. But some of us went down to June Ellen's doughnuts south of the 101 near Ventura Blvd. Wednesday was considered club night where cars from all over LA County and beyond would come to make at least one pass. One thing that became a problem later was the vandalism of car dealerships on the Blvd. 2 bucks would buy gas to cruise all evening.
Actually there were lowriders. I had a lowered 50 Chevy slope back and my cousins had some low 50s Mercs. But they weren't as distinctive as some by today's standards. And not as many .@@rickuyeda4818

I saw something similar happen recently in Van Nuys. We were flying rc planes at Apollo field and there was a cruiser gathering at the park across. The LAPD chopper did a low flyby buzz around the whole gathering. But lowrider cruising on Sepulveda blvd had been going on for decades already since the hot rod days, and it's never been rowdy cause these drivers are careful about their classic cars. Meanwhile, it's the crazy parking lot takeovers, freeway takeovers, and street intersection takeovers are more prone to accidents.
They're doing the same thing on the west side of Detroit on telegraph rd. You can cruise but to gather in a parking lot the cops want you to buy a $750 permit! Plenty of real crime out their guys leave us alone!

Those resources should be invested into moving the unhoused/mentally ill people living on the streets in encampments into the city's 'solution'. If there's too many for them to deal with.... They're doing the same thing on the west side of Detroit on telegraph rd. You can cruise but to gather in a parking lot the cops want you to buy a $750 permit! Plenty of real crime out their guys leave us alone!

They're mixing up classic car/lowrider meets with the new younger car meets that's why they're enforcing no parking they think potentially things will get out of hand but everyone with those old school cars have a different old-school disciplined chill mentality plus it's usually older adults guys with kids and families ain't nobody getting into altercations at these parked events. They're even parked on Van Nuys by the police station someone in a higher position is enforcing for something they have nothing to worry about. Go after the lowered Silverados and youngsters organizing street takeovers

Weird. My opinion is that the LAPD should not be investing their resources into people clubs that choose to cruise after the New Year. Those resources should be invested into moving the unhoused/mentally ill people living on the streets in encampments into the city's 'solution'. If there's too many for them to deal with.... They need to be brought to Bass's residence so that she can immediately use public resources to get them into the city's solution
Cruising is not Racing or a street take over. I don’t really care for cruising, but I am impressed by these vehicles.
