- I was lucky enough to see the Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring in Concert in Seattle. This was one of my favorite parts. Kaitlyn Lusk has the voice of an angel!
Some say Gandalf's fall isn't impactful because he returns later, but the Gandalf who returns is how Saruman should have been. He is eloquent, regal, pure almost Elven-like. We mourn this scene because we've lost forever the Gandalf we came to love up till that point. The one who set Bilbo and Frodo on their epic adventures; rustic, full of adventure and fond of pipe-weed.
Yes. Ian McKellan does such a great job of portraying that shift. Gandalf the white is a wizard on a mission.
The Istari are reborn by the will of Alu aluvitar to end the malcreations of Malchor , Saruman the white forfeited his place as head of the 5 wizards through his treachery,He was worst in the books. The wizards only appear as they are but are not the same once they cross over into the grey veil.
@@ColorsIn-jk6lv I especially loved the part where nobody asked

One does not simply clap while the song is still playing
"Give them a moment, for pity's sake!"
LOL
Linus Linuthorax that’s like one of the best lines and the clapping destroyed it!
LOL
No shit
What’s really sad is that everyone else gets to see gandalf again soon besides frodo and sam who had to wait until the very end to see him again…😢😢😢
Except for boromir
I always felt like Frodo must absolutely have thought he was dead when he woke up in Rivendell at the very end, given that he had no idea Gandalf was back and that was the first person he saw
@@tellmeaboutyourgame314 Right! It's like "I made it to heaven gandalf, cuz Sam and I destroyed the ring. I thought I would live to be 111 like Bilbo". Gandalf replies "you're not dead frodo and neither am I."
Doesn't that just make the moment that much more triumphant though?
@@tellmeaboutyourgame314 * Woke up in Minas Tirith.
One of the most perfect examples of the sound of the breaking heart.
1:10 the guy is crying bless him.
TA Berserker a real man cries.
mrFalloutFan95 or woman, which I am. 😂😂😭😭
Kelli Hill .....that was you?
Yup! 😆 gets me every time.
Real men cried watching this too.
No matter how many times I see this scene, a tear comes to my eye
Me too. :( The emotional scene with the music and the woman singing is very deep.
Bruce Crawford Too deep for my soul :(
Alpha Dalpha we wont be getting anything as amazing as this for a while
Totally agree,THIS is freaking epic!
My mothers always cryed too at this scene and when frodo leaves middle earth in return of the king. She loves that song in to the west that plays in credits lol why do i tell this😅😂
This is better than the recorded one from the soundtrack. Not even a hint tremor in her voice, damn. And amazing how her notes seem to sound forever and slowly fades away? Seriously, what is this sorcery.
I'm with u 99%, I always like it when the cracks a bit, dunno why
That magic is called sound engineering, in every musical performance there's a team of people specialized in setting up the stage to provide the best settings for each microphones, amplifiers, Etc...
The singer is totally great and all, but I wanted to make a little shout out to the invisible team that make the performance possible.
The part as Frodo is walking away and turns to face his friends when Aragorn calls out his name. The look in his eyes, the tears, the realization that his journey will likely bring death to them all and that he'd not only have to carry the burden of the ring but the burden of their deaths as well. This scene is perfect in every way.
Well it wasn't only that. Im certain Frodo was blaming himself for Gandalf's death because he chose to go through the mines, which was something Gandalf didn't want to do.
Apparently (i don't know where this is from but it's something I've seen from different videos) Peter Jackson asked Elijah Wood to make Frodo's grief Haunting, and I think he about nails it with that look.
That is a voice of a Angel, it goes straight into you heart.
It goes straight to the heart, because it comes from the heart.
fuckkkkkkkkkk her voice everytime damnittttttttttt : ' (
The look on Frodo's face at 1:54 is so incredibly moving. Perfect marriage of music and visuals.
Of course he cried while filming. If you have any goodness inside, just hearing a symphony and a voice like that in person, it touches something within. You physically feel those notes and its blissful. Thats a lucky audience
Nadie puedo haberlo descrito con mejores palabras! Daria todo lo que tengo por estar ahi ! Un angel cantando ...
I was cry because gandalf noo😭😭😭
Yeah, and ai practically bawled at that scene in that movie. I was crying with Frodo and Sam and Merry and Pipin and everyone else when Gandalf died.
How can you not cry at this?
Give me a moment for pity's sake!!!
By nightfall these seats will be swarming with fans.
Get up, by nightfall this comment section will be swarming with orcs
We must reach the like button of the video
Come, Jonathan, blackdiamond, Tomas, get them up
the sacrifice of gandalf & Frodo's gut cry... the music... :,( everytime.
Fucking beautiful.. wow that voice.
this was in Seattle. They toured to some major cities and performed the music live with a full orchestra and two choirs. The solo is by Kaitlyn Lusk. They also displayed props and costumes used in the films.
Thanks Kelli! You have touched a lot of people with this upload!
That sniff from this guy I felt on a whole other level
I've watched this scene so many times over the last 22 years, but as I get older it hits me harder. It's just perfect. I'm literally crying as I'm writing this, it's ridiculous.
same same same
I'm not alone...
Need a few more years to grow a pair it seems
It's not ridiculous mate
Yea I'm weeping over here
this is where i cry everytime
The violins after that angels solo pierce my heart like a bullet… god damn, how is it even possible to compose this stuff… what a legend…
She has the voice of an angel
This scene also showed how amazing of a leader Aragorn truly was. Even with everyone destroyed, he knew he had to rally the troops or they would also surely perish.
His exceptional awareness tells him that unless they keep moving they will meet a fate similar to Gandalf's. They need there time to grieve, but he knows that is not the safe place for it.
When the actor you chose for Aragorn is actually Aragorn.
yes and in the book, as you may know, Aragorn had really beat himself up because Gandalf had listened to his thoughts on what to do next in terms of direction and it had led to peril each time. and he said this to Gandalf, so he felt very low about his capabilities as a leader, culminating in the breaking of the fellowship (not that I blame him, but this was where his mind was). this goes to show the immense character development he was undergoing, and while we of course feel Aragorn is a badass as viewers of the film, he was likely feeling himself to be totally unfit as a leader but nonetheless took up that role because the group needed one.
I love that when Aragorn tells them to get up, he's not angrily telling them to stop crying or "man up". In fact when he himself gets sam up, he does so with an encouraging tone. He works with them, not against them.
Frodos NOOO! is so heartbreaking.... Never heard anything like that before.
Aragorn and boromir taking action.. "On your feet Sam."
This scene taught an entire generation manhood and perseverance, and honor. Much love J.R. Tolkien and Peter Jackson. Much love.
My greatest wish in life is to experience this movie/orchestra exactly like this. I would cry too brother. I would cry too.
Same here
GOOSEBUMPS, ONLY GOOSEBUMPS
This part of the movie - even though I've seen it countless times - always gets me. The way Frodo screams "Noo!" when Gandalf falls, Aragorn's shock and confusion with a look on his face that says, "How could this happen?" and Boromir's calling after him, recognizing they're still in danger and in need of a leader. And of course, that beautiful, mournful, wailing voice of the singer just captures the grief and powerful meaning of what had just happened. Frodo's despair of all things might be the thing to bring me to tears the most. I love this scene and this movie - it has so much soul.
I must have watched this scene 50 times. And I've cried 50 times because of it. And I expect to cry every time here after.
I'm so glad I grew up with the production of these films. They are forever apart of my soul and I will carry them with me when I sail off to the White shores of the afterlife.
Her voice, the high note cuts right to your soul...
She hits it absolutely bang on!
I'll say. And your heart too.
People can say what they want about the books...
Something the books lacked was this!
That musyve sounded amazing live.
I so wish I could go to a movie and have the orchestra right in front of me, this is just amazing to see
I would go see something like this some day but be able to afford at least some decent seats because at San Jose Symphony Orchestra tickets start at 100+ dollars per show.
I did it with ET It was amazing
I saw the original Star Wars (1977) with an orchestra.
these movies are such a masterpiece. A new genre of art
Whoever recorded this you have my thanks, gratitude and love. This is epic, gave me goosebumps.
and my axe
Of course! Never thought it would get this much attention 😂

I wanna cry everytime that i hear this part...
Well you want to cry, but I do cry everytime ...
I think we all do.
I was just thinking about how the LOTR films wouldn't be as epic without the intelligence of its OST. So heartfelt.
Wow that note really slaps your soul in the face
I know people applauding might have put others off, but the sheer beauty of the scene, the orchestra and some soulful and beautiful vocals...I think I'd be giving a standing ovation!
Now I'm crying
Chills...Chills of epic proportions. If i heard this live..I'm not going to lie I'm pretty sure I'd weep like Frodo. Speaking of which do i hear a little bit sniffling in the background!? 😶😭
After hearing her sing, give me a moment for pity’s sake!! Her voice is breathtakingly beautiful! Ms. Lusk, thank you!!! And oh sorry, the orchestra is totally awesome too!!! Howard Shore you are a genius!!!
Howard Shore is a musical genius
Frodo's scream and her voice...makes me cry every time I watch this brilliant movie
One does not simply say farwell to this trilogy...
this song is so beautiful yet it makes you cry
That stare from Frodo is absolutely chilling. He perfectly captures the grief and pain of losing someone.
He had one simple line of direction "I want you to scare the audience"
@@STARSTyranT yeah I head that in some interview
This beautiful voice brought me to tears
Beautiful, simply beautiful. Sometimes you’re reminded that humans can be capable of wonderful things.
Absolutely!
Whenever I watch this scene it really hits me too.
The sadness and disbelief overwhelms the party.
Goosebumps
Great ans lovely solo.🎉🎉🎉 An Angel voice.❤
I cannot even imagine getting to watch these films with live music. When you’re there, in person and you can feel the music reverberating through your body, I can’t even imagine how wonderful and moving that would be
Cryingg still
I swear when I drop my phone everything goes into slo motion and this song pops in my head.
Damn that voice! She also sang the Arwen's Arrival so damn beautiful
There is a reason this is called the "sensitive female" chord progression. Her voice just pierces right through the soul.
I absolutely love the chord progression in all genres of music and the article covering it XD
I'm late to the party - I too was deeply touched by this part - and it was this haunting yet pure and clear expression of grief that was a classic of the whole series - I have only tried to imagine the face behind the woman's voice that sang the music that captures what words could only fail. To watch her, is literally breath taking.
The moment the film cements itself as something beyond that of a typical fantasy, or a typical action movie. I remember sitting in a theater in 2001, and knowing, at this moment in the film, that I was experiencing something new, and grand, and timeless. In my opinion, this is the scene that affirms the film’s place amongst high art. Forever.
her voice is amazing, wow
I heard those sniffles in the end of that video and if I am not mistaken, I am right here with you.
I KNOW THAT FEEL, especially coming from such a talented orchestra.
My fav bit is in return of the king where Sam says I can’t carry it for you but I can carry you. EPIC MUSIC
They're in my country and I'm about to see this in a fucking month!
Lucky!
Antwerp, Belgium?
MGoPictures
No, Sofia, Bulgaria. The concert's on dec.5
Oh, okay. Then have fun! I'm watching the concert on dec.27 in Belgium
MGoPictures You too man! It's gonna be one hell of a December for us Tolkien fans: the concert + the 3rd hobbit movie a few days apart. How fucking awesome is this :D
that kid to the left that dabs at 0:32 fucking killed me

Omg! So beautiful! She is amazing, so angelic. Makes this scene so powerful, emotional and goes right through my soul. LOTR 4ever
Wow that woman singing is amazing!
This is my ringtone❤
Wish I was there...
...so at any given moment I could shout: "SLAYEEERRRR!!!"
Yeah, I’m crying, too. 200th time watching it, though.
Best film trilogy ever made
I rarely cry and this recording is making me weep right now. I can only imagine how soul piercing and amazing this would have been to hear live. That vocal solo is simply stunning
This is probably my favorite video on the internet. Incredible
In this world of evil, there is every force that will try to suppress everything that's good. But every so often, God gives the power back to people and channel through them. Sometimes it can be as simple as a melody gracefully reverberating from ones mouth. I truly believe that God gave this woman the ability to let ring such a pure tone that plays directly to our hearts. How can you hear it and not feel love and sacrifice and humility?
Incredible vocalist
Simply awesome. Wish I was there hearing it LIVE.
This is exactly what I need
OMG Kaitlin Lusk's voice is so beautiful
I am astounded that even after all these years, this gives me instant chills and brings tears to my eyes. Also, Katilyn Lusk is AMAZING!! I saw her perform at the LotR Symphony concert in Vienna once.
A clap is never late nor is it early. It arrives precisely at the moment it means to.
i still have goosebumps, i love it
I want to live an experience like this at least once in my life.
One does not simply applaud while the music is playing.
Incredible voice
Amazing voice! Can't wait to hear her in about a month in Belgium!
😢 so beautiful
Lady is wonderful her voice is magical
