In 92' I got an sp1200 I sat in a room full of records with a bag of dro and I learned it in 6 hours , u never climbed mt Everest but that day I felt on top of the world
nice xD
That's what I'm talking about. Do you still have your sp1200 and record collection?
i bet that dro had u making sum bangers lol
This is exactly what I did but almost 30 years later when I got my Rossum SP-1200 😅 gotta love these machines man. So easy to use compared to the s2400
I had a sk5 and then a sp202 loved both
I was 16 years old when Licensed to ill came out and that was the first time I heard that loop. I had no idea i was hearing Led Zeppelin.
I also jumped into the world of sampling on an SK-5 although it was the Radio Shack version and it was in 1988. And I got the Roland MS-1 back in 1997 and know it inside and out.
The MS-1 is a super solid sampler. Thanks for stopping by! :)
Excellent. Thanks for the tutorial.
Great video...love the gear history!
I am so very glad you enjoyed it John! :)
Fascinating. I enjoyed the review very much!
I really appreciate that SA -- this was a rather hard video for me to film. I have another one in the works that will hopefully be ready for 606 day that I think you will enjoy too. :)
I have the ms1 and an sk1, never could find a card for the ms1 so was really limited on space.
Still dig out the sk1 now and again love it trying to remember the secret function we found that made it flip out!
Sure it will come back to me one day 🤞
my first "sampler" was the SK-1 and the following year the ak5 came out. i still have the sk5 but have several keays missing but it still works!
I hope to get this one restored soon ... glad you still have yours! :)
Nice video, a lil mini tutorial on the Sp 2400, Thanx I ordered mines & it will be awhile before I get it Ive just been watching youtube videos on the device until mines arrive Im using my MPC X until then~
Thanks! I hope it arrives soon! :)
You have 2 Machines you can make it all happen with. Trust Me!!!👍
If you weren't aware, you can definitely pitch individual mulit-mode slices. You just have invoke mulit-mode sync.
👍
Those are fun features!
They really are. :)
Awesome! But can't it also make phone calls?
With all the feature requests made for this device ... sure! Why not?!? xD
Nice!
Thanks Koolteeth!! Love your jams! :D
Gojira! Wow
Yeah one of my favorite bands! Never saw them live but I did get to catch Meshuggah. :)
I started on that SK-5 too! I was 7 yo and took that thing every where.
That's awesome!! xD
That's a fine looking machine. I'm looking for a hardware sampling solution at the mo, but sadly doubt I could stretch to thr cost of this beauty. Been looking at some 2nd hand akai\yamaha boxes, but am worried about reliability. Even considering duing something with raspberry pi or arduino. Not found the right headless software yet for me though.
I paid about $1K for mine because I pre-ordered over a year before it arrived! I would recommend one of the Roland 404 boxes or perhaps the Polyend Tracker, which I recently acquired myself. Cheers and Happy New Year!
Sizzle sizzle, gate, sizzle sizzle, gate fade to gate.
xD
Is there an anologue in for sampling from a record/amp? What type of connection?
Thanks!
@@lifeseekerrecordings this is odd ... it appears from my end that RUclips deleted my reply to you :/
@@HazeAnderson that’s weird, I got it though rca’s in and built in pre. Ty
The holy stone of soul, sp 12 resurrected
It's a great piece for sure!
The s2400 converts all stereo samples to mono like the sp 1200.
Not according to the manual:
"The input mix can be set to Left Only to sample from only one of the pair of input jacks, L+R Mixed to sample both jacks to a mono sound, or Stereo."
Where are you getting your potential misinformation from?
@@HazeAnderson You're correct. Sorry, misunderstood what was told to me on the islainstruments Facebook forum before receiving my s2400. I can say that it was misinformation. Sample up to 21.5 minutes per slot (Classic / Mono),
5.5 minutes (Hi-Fi / Stereo)
So wait, the Drumulator sampled the Led Zeppelin drums for one of their stock kits???!!!!
It seems that way ....
It is more than likely the case but Dave Rossum And others haven’t confirmed anything....likely to avoid the wrath of Page and Co.
Do you sell this "color box"?
No, JHS Pedals does, they have a killer channel here on RUclips as well. :)
ms-1 i had 1 in 95
They got the job done!
isn’t there a way to just set your sampling to 12 bit 26kh? say you had a record samples in at 45 so you don’t need to pitch it up and more, is that possible?
Sorry for the belated comment! The short answer is yes but the longer answer is actually not really. The reason people pitched up the source audio was to get past the smaller storage they had back then. The crunch comes more from the re-pitching than the sample rate IMO but it is BOTH that create the sound.
@@HazeAnderson embarrassed at how many typos I made on that last comment 😪 but dope man, thank you! my unit says it’s arriving thursday but haven’t had an update since friday. guess ups is pretty backed up around this time of year!
I believe there’s 2 sampling inputs, one as 12 bit 26KhZ and one as 16 bit 48KhZ but you also can downsample within, as we saw in the video.
