    Beside the sentiment and nostalgia, why would anyone choose to pay so much for this machine instead of getting an MPC, Maschine or even the SP404? No hate, I am seriously trying to understand what will be the value of getting it.. I get classic analog synths or drum machines where the character and sound are unique, but this is just a sampler... 🤷🏻‍♂ (and very limited one)

    • @JohnCulpry
      @JohnCulpry 2 года назад +1

      This one actually isn’t as limited as the E-Mu systems original. I can’t recall the amount of sample time, but it’s maybe 20, 30 plus minutes?
      As an owner of an SP-12, there’s really nothing that sounds as big in a mix that I’ve used. That’s before even tracking out, EQ, etc. Without even trying it sounds incredible.
      The s900 and MPC 60 sit pretty heavy as well. It puts you in an entirely different mind frame as well when creating, but I totally get how it can be off putting if it’s not a workflow you’re used to.

    • @project-95
      @project-95 2 года назад +2

      The true 12-bit sound engine & Rossum-designed SSM filter, mainly, then workflow, build quality, ease of use, great company/community with updates and support. Use it as the brain of your studio:- Midi-chain external synths and control whichever one you want with a single USB host keyboard at one push of a button. It has changed the way I create for the better, I love this thing a lot more than I expected to!

      Well I own a few MPCs (2x2000, 4k, Live, and Live mkii) and a couple of 404s (sx and mkii) as well as a Digitakt, Deluge, op-z, su-10 and I'm sure I'm leaving something out🤷🏿‍♂️ I can say without a doubt that this is my favorite piece of gear to work on. I never bought an SP-1200. I thought that 10sec of sample time was a joke and a waste of money when and mpc2000 offered more at less the cost. Owning the S2400 I completely get it. I'm honestly thinking about buying another one just incase.

    i was checking some tests and it seems that Isla 2400 quality is littlebit more boxy and distorted than original vintage and Rossum version , it seems Rossum version might have best quality electronic components and sounds best in sense of flat , wide and natural .

    • @malikabdulrahmaan
      @malikabdulrahmaan 2 года назад

      i initially made the same observation but eventually came to realize that what i was hearing was the ‘feel’ of the different beat makers i was listening to. check my videos….i can promise i don’t have a boxy or distorted sound. and there are several others who don’t, as well.

    • @songologia
      @songologia 2 года назад

      @@malikabdulrahmaan Malik , in general Isla 2400 sounds good but still i would like it to be bit less compressed electroacoustically and get into lower smother bass .
      However each unit is littlebit different so eventually some of those units probably sound better and go lower than others . And i checked some of your beats videos , sounds really good , smooth late night NY vibe with spark of jazz , maybe to add some aka Maxwell vocal sing or even some cool rap line woud go on top . I think you are very musical person and improviser , getting into good production . Always pleasure to hear good vibes . Keep good work !

      @@defcreator187 The new Rossum Sp-1200s are out as well-those are supposed to be spot on.
      I think it was the SSM chip that just started being reproduced recently by some independent company that has changed things for all kinds of analog gear, synths and samplers alike. It’s crazy to think that the reason a lot of old gear sounds better is because better components were available 40 years ago. Wtf?

    It is not perfect at the end but it gives me the will to play along, guitar, then keyboard one day when I 'm better. By the way could you make an episode where you could give advice for backing tracks, either which ones you like(d) to play along, especially cool music when you don't make it yourself. Maybe using some app with choosing chords and style could be an obvious choice, but let's imagine someone lazy enough to use ready to play tracks, what could that guy do?
    It may deserve an entire episode if you take in consideration pedagogy and learning, practicing, when one is not lucky to play with a band which is the royal way.
    Have you ever considered making some kind of learning program using your own tracks, where they would be fun and exercise together?
    Besides I believe you 're gifted enough to make' backing tracks' which could be fully listened as songs. There could be some investigation on this theme to do.

    Now i have my SP and i'm lucky with it. A Friend said why bought the SP you can have it Cheaper with Island and is the same. When i See the Video i have to say that is a cool mashine but not the same like a SP couse you got a lot of sampletime. the New Version of the SP got 20seconds Sampling time for the complete Song the old Version only 10 secends, and a single sample got only 2,5 seconds maximum time this at the begining a very different workflow if you worked all the time with the MPC but in the end it makes you really creative (you have no other choice, you have to come up with something). But i see that the Isla is the perfect solution between SP workflow and the technical Possibilities of a MPC. But when you ask me SP or Isla a said definitive SP. But cool mashine and cool video but i never saw something boring from your channel keep it doin it. Your channel is my Favorite of All channels here, couse i'm learning a lot here.
