    That's definitely the best little video on the S2400 I've seen. I always try to make my own drums too, but I'd love for you to make a video showing your process as your drums sounded great! It's something I'm endlessly fascinated by. (You've nailed that lofi drum sound.) I'm definitely gonna get myself a little QWERTY and power up the machine on the back of this!

    Just picked up my S2400 and this video is gold dust!!
    This is after owning a TR-8S for quite a while and the limitations around the grid system with no micro-timing/per instrument swing setting starting to frustrate me.
    I've always found top loops to be problematic, so to watch you construct a top loop style hi hat pattern right there and then on the machine was wonderful!
    Please, please keep the videos coming on how you work with the S2400.
    ps...I've just subscribed.

    I don't have an s2400 (maybe one day) or an MPC but your channel is still a goldmine for the old school techniques alone. I haven't skimmed through all of the videos yet so I'm not sure if you've done this but I'd love to see a video where you source chord stabs or make your own and how you incorporate them into a track. Keep up the great work!

    Dear brother, I truly appreciate the wealth of knowledge you share with us. The use of EQ remains a significant challenge for me, but your videos have covered numerous questions. I've also taken a closer look at how you handle the bass. Despite your advice not to replicate everything verbatim, I've incorporated some of the parameters you've shared and was pleasantly surprised-first and foremost, a big thank you. What you're giving us is an enormous gift, brother. Thank you very much.
    Please allow me to pose a question. Could you demonstrate how the sound of the early 2000s was mixed back then? Specifically, I'm interested in understanding the relationship between chopped samples and bass, as well as the techniques employed to achieve those distinctive heavy slappy sounds of that era. As a devoted fan of The Heatmakerz, Just Blaze, and Timbaland, I would greatly appreciate a special tutorial focusing on these tricks. That would be truly amazing! I'm a huge fan of your videos and eagerly anticipate more, big brother. Greetings and much love from Germany!

      @TheCratesMotel Conan, thanks. The beats in this actual video, were they auto quantized, or were you relying on your own timing?

    • @TheCratesMotel
      @TheCratesMotel  10 месяцев назад +1

      @@brucejgray Most of my beats are a combination of the two to be honest. For the sake of speed, I had auto turned on in this video. But also with some added swing.

    The beat is not quantized after you record a layer, is it? If it isn't, the initial swing setting should have no effect, no?

    • @TheCratesMotel
      @TheCratesMotel  9 дней назад

      @@Cidr0n it will be quantized if you have swing switched on. If you have it switched off when you record but then turn it on and adjust the swing, it will nudge to the nearest quantize point that you set in swing.
