Thank you Tree, that was wonderful to watch and really helpful. I have a 'dummy' but have not padded it out yet - a little daunting, but you have shown that I just need to take my time, and a good bra. You have broken down the way to make a pattern so that it is achievable for beginners. Making sleeves would also be lovely. Thanks again.
Oh......I'm so glad, that's really good to here. I hope you get round to padding out the dummy and then just take your time doing the draping and not too tight and remember your 1st go may not be your best but you can always kerp working on it and tracing it off. Thankyou for watching. Tree X
Brilliant! I really enjoyed watching. Definitely relate to the busty shape fitting. Please keep doing tutorials. I learnt so much, have never done draping, but you taken the mystery out of it for me. Cant wait to try, it will be fun.
Brilliant video Tree, great to see the simple padded dressform too......and YES to YOUR way of making sleeves!!!! Gonna use this video a lot!!! Still wondering though to to add more ease to the bodice....maybe you could do a video someday on how to make an actual top or blouse from a well fit bodice 😬😬. Thank you so much for your time and efforts to make these awesome videotutorials...xxx
Apart from the initial ease when making the bodice block (sloper) It is easier to create whatever amount of ease you want afterwards. I know that like me, you would probably run a mile from anything this fitted, so yes....after I have shown the adding of a simple sleeve I will show how you can then transform these things into other styles but keeping all the fit (but somehow I think you could figure it out) Thank you, Tree Xx
This was excellent ! The pacing was relaxed yet straight to the point, that's great. (I've been teaching myself sewing and pattern making for about a year now and your content has been a great help. The vlog about the dart manipulation workshop was especially eye-opening and allowed me to fully understand the Pattern Magic book series, which I've had for a little while but without really diving into them until now. Combining all this truly made for some some accelerated learning. So, thanks again !)
Well.....I am so glad that you liked it. I know that we had the video of Shingo demonstrating how to do this but I wanted a slower, more detail version. Thankyou, Tree x
This was so interesting: I can't wait to get my dress from padded out to my full post-Christmas dimensions! Yes please I'd love to see the sleeves done. Thanks Tree :-)
Fabulous timing for me, just got my form for Christmas and want to customize it for me. Thanks Tree! Yes I would like to see the sleeves ❣️. All the best in 2020!
Thank you so much, that was so helpful and useful. I am going to get my friend to let me practice on her !! TFS informative as always - Julia xxx P.S. Yes please to the sleeves.
Is it.....well that's so good to hear. I have lots more of these videos but I wanted to make a more detailed, simple one to show how it is quite easy to do. Thankyou. Tree X
I see you are using some of shingos techniques which is good but there are many ways of draping and constructing garments.. First of all you can use any fabrics including bedsheets you don't need to use Calico or muslin.. You can even use thin pattern cutting paper .. You need to mark the exact bust point on fabric then mark your bust line across as your guideline.then from your bust point you mark your bust dart down onto waist.. finger press the line as it's easier to put pins in.. You don't need to cut the darts what shingo does as you are making a simple block and not putting other other style lines in ..I would just pin the darts and mark them .. The back dart on a block should be same width you put the first dart on front going up to bust line ... The back dart is way too long at tip as that would interfere with the shoulder blade... I finish the dart length just below armhole at back .. Regarding the armhole you mentioned, the higher the armhole ,the more movement you actually have as the lower the armhole becomes ,it becomes more restricting on the actual sleeve .. I make bespoke suits and you need high armholes for ease of movement.. Try simple test , pinch your armhole seam underneath your dress or jacket and move your arms up ,you will see it's uncomfortable. All factory jackets have big armholes and when you lift arms ,the whole jacket moves up which is bad !!! . I like your videos u have put up, especially with shingo at your workroom .. I teach draping dressmaking and Tailoring courses at my shop in Birmingham and later this year be incorporating some of shingos techniques alongside Julian Roberts subtraction cutting into my courses mixed with tailoring techniques as well .. I never stitch mock ups I just pritt stick them together which saves time and going back to the sewing machine . I will soon upload videos of my tutorials on u tube .. There are some on my Facebook page of some of my students cutting. Thanks
Your courses sound fantastic. Yes, you are right, I am very influenced by Shingo. I actually said a smaller armhole gives more moment not a higher one. As a tailor, you will know so......much more than me, but for the beginners to draping bodice blocks, they found his video too overwhelming so I created this as a simplified version. Lots of great points in your comment, Thank you so much for writing such an in-depth comment. I will go and look you up now. Tree X
@@StitchlessTV thanks .. Your videos are very simple and informative which is good ..As a fashion designer and Tailor when I started teaching the courses I put too much information out to the students and some could not grasp the concepts.. I originally had 8 students to each course but soon found out that was too much ..Now I teach one to one and really get into micro details that you can't teach in a big classroom setting .. Even today I have simplified my way of teaching and still developing new idea to even simplify drafting that beginners can easily understand. Keep up the good work you are doing on your channel ..far better than most on utube which leaves a lot to be desired!!! X
Excellent tutorial--thank you! And yes to fitting the sleeves please.

How far down do the notches go is it 3 inches
For side seam and shoulder at this stage it is simply about alignment.
@@StitchlessTV thank you
