Dear Anastasia :) Best video :) thank you very much for your work :) I have bought the book and would like to start with the pattern construction :) Best wishes from Germany Franzi
Anastasia, two questions. What is the book that you're using in the beginning of the video, and what are the 25 measurements you took and where do they translate to your sloper?
Hi! I actually have a video coming out this week that goes over all of the measurements and how to take them! Keep an eye out for it. Also the book is called Pattern Drafting by Helen Joseph Armstrong. Thank you for watching.
@@alexiscrouch5615 The ISBN for the book is: 978-01-350-1876-7 or 978-93-325-1811-7. You can actually find a free copy of the book online as well in pdf format.
@@SewAnastasia i love youR channel! You’re a great instructo! I looked for this book and all I can find are books by her with the title “patternMAKING”. I’m wondering if you’re mistaken or if it’s hard to find. Could you give me more info ?
Thank you for your interest! I'm glad to hear that you found the video intriguing. Let me know if you have any specific questions or if there's anything else I can help you with.
Thank you for clearing up the mystery of slopers and pattern blocks. I am not interested in designing patterns, but I do have difficulty altering patterns to fit me. Would a slower help? And are there slopers for pants?
I got the book how to design your own dress pattern by Adele p margolis it’s really good it show you how to make patterns and how to change them for different designs
Great videos. Question: do I need a sloper if I only wear loose fitting blouses? And I don't want to design patterns, but I want store bought patterns to fit at the shoulders and arm scye. Will a sloper helop with that?
Hi - I am confused about seam allowance. I think you said to create the sloper without seam allowance; however, you traced the sloper onto paper and cut it out. So, how did you sew it up for it to fit the form? When did you add seam allowance, and is it 5/8?
I did the new style. It is on the dress form. It is the cowl neck bodice! but no worries I have lots of pattern drafting videos on their way! Thank you for watching.
@@SewAnastasia I think what doowopshopgal might have been asking (or, this is my question, anyway 🙂), what did you do with the sloper to change it into the cowl neck top? Put another way: how do you use a sloper to adjust a commercial pattern (or in this case, create a pattern)? Thank you so much for your videos! Wish I lived in Chicago and could take your classes in person 🙂
Is it just me, or did she just totally gloss over how to go from the sloper to the cowl neck. Basically the only thing I learned was the definition of a sloper and that supposedly I can create anything from it, but not even how to do the sample she made.
@@SewAnastasia I think people (like me!) were expecting to also see how to use it, based on the title of the video ("...and how to use it"). I think if it was called "What is a sloper and what's it used for in pattern drafting?" people wouldn't have expected to learn how to use it, just what it's useful for 🙃
i watched the video twice now and I feel it’s unfair to say she showed how to use the sloper, her explanation relies solely on having a book with instructions if she hadn’t sped up that part to me that would be explaining how to use the sloper to make adjustments to make a new garment as it is all I now know is what is a sloper and then to trace it but that’s not giving me much my only complain is this should just be titled what is a sloper and here’s an example of me using another book to make a top that requires me to use a sloper, there’s so many possibilities which is totally fine. But i still have no clue how to make adjustments using the sloper as guide, I feel a little duped by the title which i think is what people are saying
But that’s not how your going to learn how to do this process. Of course you can just buy a pre made sloper kit or patterns but being able to do it yourself is gratifying 🎀

What are some tips to take one's own measurement? Thanks for your wealth of knowledge.
Deff use a mirror so you can see what you are doing. Measure more then once till you keep getting the same number. Hope that helps. Happy drafting :)
Which pattern book are you referencing?
This time it is helen joseph armstrong
Great video. Where can I find that book for Pattern Essentials? Cant seem to find it
can you recommend a pattern drafting book that has a good description of how to manipulate the basic slopers?
Great videos. Question: do I need a sloper if I only wear loose fitting blouses? And I don't want to design patterns, but I want store bought patterns to fit at the shoulders and arm scye. Will a sloper helop with that?
I sloper will help but if you know your shoulder length & arm curve you can just do the adjustment to the patterns with out a sloper.
At 7.23 why did you speed it up without explaining what you are doing

You have another video on draping. So this one you take the measurements instead and make the pattern. Why 2 different methods? Which is better
i guess a uniboob is unavoidable with a sloper
If I am to start making my own patterns/slopers from scratch, do I need to buy a mannequin??
No you don't need to but it is helpful.

There's something wrong with the fit of the left side of your sloper. It doesn't lay flat like the right side of the mannequin. 🧵🪡
