This is exactly what I was looking for. I understand the darts...and shaping....but I didn't understand how they got it from the dummy to a pattern. So seeing him draw on the fabric and then make the adjustments ....and the end where you lay it flat and cut it into pieces...and redraw it with seam allowances.....I understood ! So cool. New sewer...learningn lots just by watching. Going to give it a try tomorrow. Hi from Canada.

What's important is not only the totally perfect fit but imagine the tge new style lines you can create! But .. usually you have to stick to the golden rules of touching definitely the bust dart point and other dart points (unless you do forming which is a bit more involved). I have 2 more of these Moulage to share, the sleeve and a beautiful coat one. ... Have fun. Tree X
Miguel Ricardo Shingo Satos book is Transformational Reconstruction. The Pattern Magic books by Tomoko Nakamichi are similar and are available on Amazon in English . But you can't beat Shingo for simplicity. x

Amazing and simple, we all know how difficult it is to construct a tailored collar, and then to cut and try and make alterations, i fond this moulage technique very interesting and super easy to see the final result that you want in a few minutes. i am waiting to see the sleeve block, thank you.
I know.....Shingo's work is like that. The thing about this form of moulage is that you can build up more 3D shapes and then strategically place style lines so the pieces when cut out lay flat. There is a Moulage yellow sleeve going around on Pinterest and Instagram that uses this technique. Tree x

Hello Sharon, yes....he is a genius. In learning these techniques it is like a challenge or a doing a puzzle. You would then go on to not necessarily use the whole thing in a real project to wear but would taje some elements of what you would have learnt. I used some of these processes when I upcycled a man's jacket for a refashion compensation a couple of years ago. Thankyou. Tree x

Hi, love the shingo sato show - one comment for future better shows - when trying to drape collar on to white dress on a white dress form I find that it is difficult to separate dressform from dress/jacket as the white collars merge, perhaps use a darker moulage fabric? thanks

This is interesting, but he starts with a ready made form. It is not much use unless your body is exactly the same as the form. For me the hard part is getting patterns that fit my body, not some model's.
Denise Chevalier I understand but you get someone to do it on you and you on them. I did it on Claudette and she did it on me. We wore a tight black top and used the masking tape to tape to the top. It's so easy that you can get an inexperienced friend to do it but follow exactly what he does and only use decorator's masking tape. Tree x

Seeing how he moves darts around. You could pin fit a muslin by pulling the back tight and making all your adjustments in the front where you can reach to pin. Then take it off and move your adjustments to the back. Then stuff this sloper or cut it from stiff foam or cardboard to make a dummy.

Wonderful technique on doing a moulage. Question, what is the size of the muslin square he used to start the front and back pieces?
He measures with the calico across the body and then down the body for rough measurements and then adds about 20cms / 7ins ish
