The problem with this lens is that it's hard to find a *good* one. It took me two attempts. The first one came with all the bearings mushed to the point of being utterly unuseable.
I hear you. That's the case with any vintage gear though. I'm having the same trouble with my Canon F1, I bought a supposed "mint" one, but the exposure meter broke after a month of use =)
Wow! This vintage lens is very impressive for $100! Your test shots looks very cinematic and I love how soft it looks compared to the digital looks of modern cameras and latest iPhones. Is your new YC Onion chocolate SE in action in your b rolls featuring the lens? It looks pretty cool!
Just tried the lens with the Roxsen, and yeah it is definitely ruining the image with the blue circle and increasing the flare like crazy. Did you tried with some other focal reducer. For now I will go with the dummy adaptater :(
Not really bro. Personally, to me it’s useable + I need the infinity focus that the Roxen enables this lens to do. Some people actually mod FD lenses, but that just adds to the cost.
Nice. Lens looks great. Same I prefer wide angle prime lens for RUclips lifestyle vlog content. I have a 18-105 but never use it Only for client work if there’s a need.
Right on my dude! Yep I feel you, if I need a super sharp telephoto lens for client work I usually just rent. Spending a grand on a lens that's just gonna sit on the shelf is not a very wise investment =). At least, with this one I won't feel bad if I only use it occasionally.
@@waynebonilla the magenta flare in the center goes down if you use a CPL or a screw on hood. I use the cheap screw on hoods as a kind of step up filter and then use 77mm VND/IR cut on it :D
Nice review. You should give the FD 28-50 f3.5 and FD 24-35 f3.5 a try. Two of the best FD zooms Canon made, sharp wide open and parfocal.
Right on for the suggestion Cire👊🏽
Yoo I'm definitely going to look into it myself. I've never heard of those focal lengths
The canon FD lenses (only shot on the fd S.S.C´s ) was way sharper than I expected when I first tried it out.
I know it’s late, but great imagery. I just bought this lens. Were you using a slider (compact) for these?
Thanks! and you are right! In the outro test shots, I used this slider: ruclips.net/video/BRTbEKU54xs/видео.html

Thanks Pia! And yep, used the Chocolate SE on the beach hike B-roll.
great video, did you use a variable nd filter with this lens? Does the front element of the lens rotate when you focus?
No I did not use a VND. And yes, the front element does rotate when you focus. 🤙🏽
Love it! Another fantastic video thank you ☺️👌
Thanks, Gerry! Appreciate that dude!👊🏽🤙🏽
Not sure how i feel about the lens, but this video was excellent! 👏🏼👏🏼
Right on bro!
This lens sells for $20 in China. I use it on my Fuji camera. Thank you for your video for helping me understand my lens better!
You’re very welcome! That’s dope that it’s that cheap there 😮. Definitely a steal🤙🏽.
Hello bro
I have a Fuji xt3 which adapter will I use

@@mohaps oh sweet! Thanks for that info, I’m gonna try it out.
Isnt this full frame lens?
It can work for full frame.
Hey I just got this lens, but mine isn't focusing to infinity ??! Any thoughts?
Did you get an adapter with a lens element? If you got one without, it won’t focus to infinity.
Thanks dude
