@@karengre9033 Gotta agree there. As good as Mike Patton is, I think Chuck's voice and delivery fits the song better and it's not just because of the time We Care A Lot or Introduce Yourself came out. Chuck may have been limited, but I think he was getting better. We only have one song ("New Improved Song") to give us an idea of what The Real Thing - or whatever the followup to Introduce Yourself may have been called - could have sounded like with Chuck on vocals. Switching to Mike Patton was the right choice, but there is something about Chuck Mosley's time in the band that can't be matched, although I will say that the version of "As The Worm Turns" with Mike's vocals is the better one.

Mike Patton: hold my bag of coke...
Axl has MAYBE 3... MIKE PATTON..8 or 9 octaves....that's like Aretha Franklin & Jeff Buckley had a vocal prodigy!!!
@@kinas3973 Rose can go from F1 to B flat 6. That's a 5 octave stretch above the F1. So he can sing across six octaves. Patton has a D1 to E flat 7 range. Not that far past Rose, especially with what is usable musically.
@@alanwoodwind5265 Yes, but Mike isn't an intolerable asshat, so his voice is much more usable.
@@belewda yeah but the intolerable asshat has written much more memorable music. It's always the assholes...
@@alanwoodwind5265 touche
Mike Patton is arguably considered one of the best vocalists in music with one of the wides, if not THE, widest vocal ranges ever.
Wouldn't say arguably one of the best, that's a given, arguably the best is better description I would have said.
@@undinism69 Chris Cornell is in that grouping as One of the best ever as well.
@@prizm2807 definitely. I was "too metal" back in those days and blew off his music, until a revelation I had late 90s. Got into dozens and dozens of other genres, I don't blow off his music anymore and found the talent. I kinda laugh at how restrictive I was back then but, some people don't grow out of that ever, I was better late than never.
He also voiced the "monsters" in I am Legend
WHAT??? 😲
Whoa! You learn something new every day. 😮
He also did the voice of "the darkness" in the video game of the same name.
Wow, I didn't know that! Thanks for that trivia! :)
I love that you live Mike’s many voices soooo much 😍
"What voices do you sing in?!" ALLLL OF THEMMMMM
"Surprise you're dead" and "The real thing". This songs are awesome.
Zombie eaters is right there with em. The transition into each song, with their eclecticism, for lack of a better term, and murkiness in their genre's era, is why it's one of my favorite albums
Hold up brother, hold up.....! Awesome reaction
Not only is Patton crazy ranged when singing, he's also done things like the monsters in "I Am Legend" and was the voice of The Darkness in The Darkness videogames. That one is particularly impressive.
Mr. Bungle - “Retrovertigo” please
Vanity Fair as well if I may ask....
None of them Knew They Were Robots!
“got me over here breathing hard and shit” 😂 😂 😂
Check out Faith No More “Surprise! You're Dead!" and "Ashes to ashes".
Try Faith No More "RV" for something completely different. It's the anthem of the modern Opioid/male suicide epidemic, only it was made 20 years ago.
28yrs ago (1992)
Seems like most of the Patton albums have one - Edge of The World, RV, Take This Bottle...I think of them as the 'dodgy old man' trilogy.
@@RestrainingHollywood Fuck, I'm old.
Yeah! Another song by these guys you should check out is “we care a lot”
But it’s gotta be the original
Yes
"Caffeine" would be good. "Be Aggressive" too, but I can only imagine what Jamel would think of those lyrics.
I SWALLOW!!!!!
Have to do the mtv live caffeine
Gotta do Evidence then go look at their cover of I started a joke. To answer your question on how many voices the answer is yes, he was doing Italian opera for a few years a bit back as well.
Some of the best that rap metal has to offer!!!!!
I remember when this came out... Hard to believe 30 years have passed since I first bought the CD. Wow, 3 decades already...
