Terrific review - since I added the BIG letter view, the face looks a bit different from the first part of your video. Terrific watch for golf. Thank you
Thank's Kevin this has helped alot as i have this watch. Incidently i am have difficulty locating the description box which contains your affiliated links. Where are they located?
Thanks Raj, glad it helped! Under the title of the video there should be ‘more’ which you can click, and that will bring out the full description box which contains the links 👍
I just got this. Really like it so far. Only thing I don’t like is that the backlight does not turn on when you rotate your wrist nor is there a setting to make it so that happens.
Yes I believe you can, so long as you have set up the Garmin connect app, it then asks permission to write the data to the iPhone health app….although I’ve only tested it with an iPhone.
Tough choice. Personally, I’d go with the S42 as I prefer the way it sits on my wrist, it’s a much slimmer watch. Depends what you value more - Bushnell has the full course map, where as the Garmin has better shot tracking and is slimmer
Can anyone confirm if you can use this watch to track shots on the driving range, to add to stats so you have distance records etc? Maybe link them to the app somehow to track practice?
Thanks for watching. No you can’t do that with this watch, or any Garmin gps watch currently. You can only do something similar with the R10 launch monitor, and maybe the Garmin G80, although I’ve not tried the G80 so I’m not 100% sure
I’ve just checked, and on my iPhone 12 I don’t have the options to choose which apps I see notifications for. I’ve seen the same menu screen on an android phone and it looks very different
Thanks for watching and commenting Bryan. I've not tried the Vivo active 4 so I can't give any context there I'm afraid. But I have used both the S42 and S62 extensively. I think it'll come down to four questions. 1. Do you need/want the off course data tracking (GPS, heart rate and blood O2 for both exercise, sleep and general health tracking) 2. Do you want the extra golf features of the S62 (smart caddy, pin pointer etc) 3. Do you want the nicer materials of the S62 (ceramic bezel, thicker strap)? 4. Do you want a thinner profile like the S42 or a bigger one like the S62. I hope that helps :)
A bit too basic. Missing for me is how to best use the shot distance. It automatically starts from the last swing apparently so in general is wrong if you do practice swings. Or, how to use the club stats.
I guess that comes with being a touch screen and only having one button, but aside from having to get used to the hazard layout, I’ve got on with it fine really 👍👍

Can you do a video how to update courses on the S42?
Sure, will try to film one in the next week or two, as I did it for my recent Garmin Z30 review
Terrific review - since I added the BIG letter view, the face looks a bit different from the first part of your video. Terrific watch for golf. Thank you
Thanks Neil, really appreciate it 👍
Hey. Thanks for this! I’ve had this watch for about 2 months and had no idea what it was capable of.
Glad I could help, the watch has served me well for over a year 👍👍
Great review. Got one and love it. I don't need to have the brightness up when on the course I can see it just fine. 👍🏻⛳
Thanks Heath. Yeah I found the screen to be very readily, so turning it down will increase the battery life 👍
Hi - thanks for this tutorial. When scoring do I include putts in number of strokes ie 5 or do I log is 3 strokes and 2 putts. Thx
Include the putts in your score 👍 thanks for watching, don’t forget to subscribe 👍
Can you change it to meters instead of yards? Excellent video, thank you
Thanks. Yes you can change it, in the golf settings menu 👍
Very helpful! Thank you Golf Guy
Thanks Neil, much appreciated 👍👍
Do you know if this tracks anything for working out and sleep? I saw it tracks distance but wasn’t sure
No it does track either of those I’m afraid
Thank's Kevin this has helped alot as i have this watch. Incidently i am have difficulty locating the description box which contains your affiliated links. Where are they located?
Thanks Raj, glad it helped! Under the title of the video there should be ‘more’ which you can click, and that will bring out the full description box which contains the links 👍
Thank's Kevin it works. Not always that clued up on computer related skills.
I just got this. Really like it so far. Only thing I don’t like is that the backlight does not turn on when you rotate your wrist nor is there a setting to make it so that happens.
Just checked mine, your right, the only option is to either have the backlight on all the time, or off.
My watch only gives black, blue and white tees. Is there any way to load gold and red? My device doesn’t give me the men’s vs women’s tee option.
You Might need to update the course data from the Garmin Golf app?
Is there a “plays like” feature on the watch?
No, you need to go up to the S60, s62 or S70 for that feature
i want to know how can i put in automatic holes change thanks
I think it's in the settings no?
Can you do the activity to track your distance walked at the same time you are playing golf in golf mode of the watch
Yes I believe you can, so long as you have set up the Garmin connect app, it then asks permission to write the data to the iPhone health app….although I’ve only tested it with an iPhone.
Would you recommend the s42 or the bushnell ion elite? Narrowed down my search to these two but can't decide which one!
Tough choice. Personally, I’d go with the S42 as I prefer the way it sits on my wrist, it’s a much slimmer watch.
Depends what you value more - Bushnell has the full course map, where as the Garmin has better shot tracking and is slimmer
@GolfGuyReviews excellent thanks very much for your help. Really appreciated!
my watch is frozen on "this setting will reduce battery life". nothing will happen when depressing the dial button, help?
Just googled, apparently you can reset the watch by holding the button for 30 seconds?
Will this watch change holes automatically?
yes
Yes 👍
Does the choice of not being able to be specific with the t box mens or ladies only does that affect your distances and overall accuracy?
Thanks for watching. No it doesn’t effect accuracy, it will just update some holes if they are a pr 3 on red tees compared to a par 4 on yellows
How to reset back to club distance in my beg history?
Can anyone confirm if you can use this watch to track shots on the driving range, to add to stats so you have distance records etc? Maybe link them to the app somehow to track practice?

You can chose which apps you get notifications from on the phone app. I have it set to Phone and Messages.
I’ve just checked, and on my iPhone 12 I don’t have the options to choose which apps I see notifications for. I’ve seen the same menu screen on an android phone and it looks very different
@@GolfGuyReviews that explains it! I use an android phone.
Looking to upgrade from a Vivo Active 4. Would you recommend this or the S62? I probably play 25-30 rounds per season
Thanks for watching and commenting Bryan. I've not tried the Vivo active 4 so I can't give any context there I'm afraid. But I have used both the S42 and S62 extensively. I think it'll come down to four questions.

How do you find a course if it doesn't show up on the course you are playing?
I'm afraid I don't know, I've never had that problem.
A bit too basic. Missing for me is how to best use the shot distance. It automatically starts from the last swing apparently so in general is wrong if you do practice swings. Or, how to use the club stats.
How does it look when you have a doglegged hole?
Will show a yardage to dog legs on the hazard screen
merci de faire une version en français
Had this watch a few weeks now, well impressed! This tutorial is fantastic keep up the good work.🏌♀⛳
Thanks so much MrPete73, I’m a big fan of this watch 👍
I'm sure like most things you would get used to it.........but at first view it doesn't feel/look a very intuitive layout.
I guess that comes with being a touch screen and only having one button, but aside from having to get used to the hazard layout, I’ve got on with it fine really 👍👍
