It's a good watch and I've had mine for about a month having had the S10 before it. The biggest downside is the terrible charging port. You have to be really careful when plugging the cable into the back of the watch as the port is easily damaged. You also have to periodically clean both the port and the cable as they both get crudded up over time. But apart from that it's great.
When you're not on the course, does it just show you the length of the hole? Conversely, if you're on hole 2 going to hole 3, does it show a longer distance than full hole?
I have one of these s42 watches san you tell me why ? I don’t have the facility at the top of the screen to see a measured shot. Also when I first used the watch , it asked me at the end of a hole how many shots? And also how many putts ? Now it only ask’s for shot , no putts this just messes up my score. Can you help. Paul H
What happens if you dont bring your phone with you too the course? Does the watch not work at all? Does it still track your golf game and track your daily steps etc?
Yikes, my S42 won't go to golf scorecard. It's stuck on the timer and won't change. What's your advice S42 Guru Hopefully hacker golf? You're our "go to" watch wizard. Cheers
Thank you for this video. I bought the S42 two weeks ago. If I'm reading the scorecard correctly, it also tracks putts after you enter the score. Am I right about this?

@@TurkeyDart It's tech. It happens. Frustrating for sure. I just bought the S42 after having 2 S20s for the last 8 years. Absolutely love the S20 but wanted a bit more toy to play with. We'll see how this goes. I'm not off to a great start. Pairing it with my cell phone caused the watch to buzz every time I got a text or phone call (maybe email too, but can't be sure). I had to spend about 30 mins shutting down all sorts of notifications and only disconnecting it from Bluetooth worked. Who in their right mind wants their watch to buzz on the golf course when getting texts and calls? If I was putting, I'd lose it if that happened. So I finally got it all shut off but then it stopped asking me what club I was using, and I can't get the rounds to show up, which is precisely what I bought the S42 for. Hoping it's operator error and will continue to try to get this working right. If it won't, I'll return it soon.

Love the s42. Was going to pony up for the S62 but it's very bulky IMO. I was worried it would affect my swing.

You don’t need to take your phone to the course,all features work without the phone.
Garmin is a gps company all devices have gps built in so you don’t need your phone for the watch to play the course.

The tee names will change according to where you are. Colour, men/woman, numbers.

The hazard letters make no sense. What does D, G, B F A stand for?
I seems to have named each hazard alphabetically. The nearest one to you is A and then it goes from there. Took me a little while to sort that out.

I brought this bloody watch the Garmin app is shite to be honest, to many functions putting data in it is a pain, s12 is the best
