@@DC-ih8bv There are 3 rules which most fire departments use around the world which are sometimes worded differently but have the same meaning .
      We use these.
      1. We will risk a lot in a calculated manner to save life.
      2. We will risk ourselves a little in a calculated manner to save , saveable property.
      3. We will not risk ourselves at all for property that is lost.
Maybe going back a few decades people thought it was acceptable for firefighters to get killed just saving a building but not in 2021.
I love nothing more than good offensive firefighting and getting inside and knocking a fire down but there is no justification in getting someone killed when the building is as good as destroyed and can be replaced.

A ladder nozzle for a ranch house. "Boys and their toys." No Line of Sight on the burning material. Just one spot on the floor.
0:28 Lawn Statues dressed like your Heroes.
0:45 Can the nozzle operator SEE where the water is going and what it is accomplishing?
1:30 As I thought. They are waiting for the fire to come to them.
All they had to do is open a small hole in the ceiling and insert a nozzle opened to a medium cone of water and the fire would have been knocked down. Then you open more holes to wet down the entire attic.

I question the logic of pouring water on the roof for it to just run off. Why wasn't there more effort to get the hose into a hole made in the attic? The fire is inside not on the roof. Plus, I understand that the owner's dog died in the fire.
Was there any effort made to save the dog? Or,was the thinking, "Oh, it's just a dog. He can get a new one."?
