- Guys, there was nothing wrong with it! I bought a new one for nothing! The problem was one of the motor bullets were corroded giving a poor connection which was making it cut out under load. Helicopter ESC's from another manufacture used to catch fire if one of the motor leads came disconnected, the MAX 6 is clever and shuts itself down and restarts before any harm is done. SO....so far, everyone in my bashing group who has a max 6 has had 0 failures! I'm the first to say when a product sucks, this one certainly does not! 10/10 for Hobbywing you make some great stuff!

I finally found the video where you claimed to link the 1/4 to R/C driver hex tips. But you didn't link! Are they discontinued? I was gonna buy a set for my DeWalt 8v Gyro driver.

I've had Castle last me over 10 years , so that what I run.
Almost two years ago I bought a Hobbywing esc for my crawler...had it in there for just a few minutes and pulled it. It just didn't have the control of my Castle/BLE Pro esc's.
Castle is too expensive.
Fábio Castro I understand the budget thing but in electronic's you get what you pay for. I had a first-generation MMP 3s and it last over 10 years....after that is started puffing batterys but it still worked. That's 10+ years of water , mud , snow and 10+ foot drop-offs.
I've bought Holmes/Castle since with no problems. Brake that down over 10 years and the cost is minimal.
Plus , i'd rather support an American company.

Thanks Kev! i fix my max5/ Leopard 1350 combo 8s broplem, just soldering new motor connectors, and remove wire adaptors motor/ESC. it works 6s fine, 8s make few cut offs before runs ok

Hey Kevin I have had this issue happen a few times. Disable your low voltage detection. Seems to fault often. Circuit history so you have to use your head and replace batteries before cells get too low.
I have a drone that’s been experiencing pretty much the same problem. It would start to work then one ESC would cut out under heavy load. If I put pressure near the bad ESC, then the problem would stop. After reading your description, I’m thinking that one of the the solder joints to the ESC is weak. Tanks for the tip.
did you think that one of the wires is lose on the switch and when you accelerate hard and break hard it moves it out and in

How's the LVC setup? Does it turn off when the voltage is low or just slows down but allows the lipo to drain.
Dear Kevin, i love your vids i just started watching last week and I’m hooked. I doubt you will see this but, i have a car recommendation for you. It is a 1/10 scale monster truck it is called the pro line pro mt 4x4 it is a roller but it comes stock with badlands and a pro line body. I think you will like this truck because you can fit a 1/8 scale motor in it.
Hey Kevin I know I’m a little late seeing you did this video over a year ago but what are your thoughts on the Castle mamba XLX esc? I just got one for my X-Maxx and was wondering if all the fuss was worth to mount it in? I like bashing more than speed and I know the max 6 is waterproof unlike the Castle Mamba XLX
Looked like a Brown-out on the BEC, you try running the old ESC with an external BEC?
Glad I watched. My stock esc is acting goofy. Was giving me a low voltage light. Batteries were fresh. Checked the cells and all look decent. I was torn between the max5 and max6

Hi kev, watched so many of your videos, you've been a great help and mentor. Im a fairly new subscriber and RC hobbyist basher. I've just upgraded my new HSP 1/10 Brontosaurus to brushless. I'd like to ask what amp ESC I'd need to run a 6s LiPo?
I'm running a Etronix photon 2.1 2950kv brushless motor and came with a 45a. Runs a 3s Lipo 5000mah but iwant to run 6s? I doubt a max 6 will fit without changing the motor I just bought.

Did you check the lipo cut off and where it is set ? Ive also had issues with escs doing that of the power switch is funky dust and dirt eventually gets in and wears the switch contacts .
Great video👍🏼👍🏼.I never had any problems with hobbywing esc. But I have sent 3 castle esc back for warranty , do to burning up and malfunction.

Hey Kevin do you still use the xt-90s what’s your opinion on the ec5 connectors compared to xt90?

I figured out how they want you to program the esc. After turning on the esc and holding the set button, and the red led starts flashing, release the set button. Now push the set button where the transmitter is at neutral, this sets the neutral point. Then press the set button while holding full throttle, this sets the full throttle point. Finally, press the set button while holding full reverse/brake, this sets the reverse/brake point. If this is too confusing, let me know, this hobby is all about putting a huge smile on your face and helping fellow bashers or racers out. Feel free to share with anyone who is confused on how to program hobbywing esc units.
Did you re-use the middle wire that connects the two batteries?
Was wondering what other bodies from different manufacturer that can be fitted in the xmaxx with little or no modification at all...

Happened to my esc today. Max8 would go then quit. You could hear it beeping once it lost power😢
HELP does anyone know why my transmitter doesn’t connect to my esc it connects to the servo and beeps 1 but usually it beeps 2 times when t fully connects and my wheels just don’t move it something electronic wrong with it I have a new esc should I install it ? What you guys think

That esc is a beast last 2 years that’s epic. My slash ultimate velinion esc lasted 5 months. I think it got water damage cause I used to blast it with water and then when it heated up steam would come out.
Hi dear please help me.. I have hobbywing max5 for my baja flex.. The Esc dosent cut the volt to safe my lipo even with set up ( auto intermediate) which its defult setting.. I dont know what dose mean did esc cut the voltage in 3.4 or 3.7.. I lost tow battery and got puffy. Waiting ur reply brother

Hi kev,I am buying a new traxxas xmaxx and I want the best performance and upgrades for my truck. Now I have watched all your videos pretty much hahah . Why do you put the max 6 ESC on every truck? Does it give you better performance? Why is it better then the stock ESC?I also want the best speed so what gear ratio is the best for speed and off roading. I just want to have a beast . If there is something else I m missing to make my truck a beast please share.
Mine keeps cutting out, no throttle or steering. But fan has power. Then it all of a sudden goes again. Any clue what the problem is?
Why havent you upgraded the motor to a hobbywing motor to go with the hobbywing esc?

I had the same problem with my Max5, I added a glitch buster and a rebind of my system and it fixed the issue. $7.00 US.
Can you expand on that? I have same issue with my max5 esc. What is glicth buster and how to add it? Is this the same as cap pack?

Hey kev if the Traxxas constant velocity drive shafts you put on the slash 4x4 don’t work, you can get the Mip X duty ones the only thing you have to do is clean them every once and while because they will rust but they are awesome, mine for my Slash 4x4 are supposed to be here today so I’ll let you know how they fit 👍🏻

Great advice because I just blew my Traxxas 8's ESC tonight I think. it has the temp light on and the motor has nothing was running in snow max 6 here we come

I blew the bec in a max 5 within 6 months all I had changed was the bec voltage to 7.4 and after getting a new max 5 then the motor went within a week
Can you tell me a good example car to get because I'm new to to I have a nitro and and like rc cars that use 2-4 cell lipo also I'm in the uk
I find that the QS8 plugs work better. xt60 rated at 60amps and the xt90 are rated at 90 amps the max 6 draws 200amps max 5 150 amps the qs8 plugs are rated at 300amps.

Iv got the max 6 in my kraton 6s and it’s just randomly died on me, flashing red light, no power to motor or servo, going to have a look at it and see if I have the same issue, ordered the BLX185 for it as recommended for reliability reasons so hopefully I can get the max 6 to work and keep the BLX185 as spare
What did you find out about the esc was it thermo or lvc same issue here when everything else is fine what really gives

I wonder if the capacitors were loose. The max esc rely on those fat capacitors.
Can't be bad as Castle Mamba Monster series.I bought a Mamba Monster 2 and Mamba Monster x esc and motor combos.I used the Mamba Monster 2 and it failed after a month,then I used the Mamba Monster x and it failed after a week.Very bad experience with Castle ESCs.The 2200kv motors are reliable but Castle ESCs although very powerful are very failure prone.
Try putting an extra set of capacitors on the battery leads

Do you own any Arrma rc's? Just curious cause I thought they were based in the UK. I did the switch and absolutely love them. Arrma Outcast is one of the best rc ever built in my opinion.
They are not a UK based company, and are now on Horizon hands. Besides, this guy is endorse by Traxxas.

The Max 6 is the better ESC. I run a Max6 in a basher truggy(think Kraton 6S) with a TP Power 4070CM 1650KV. It's going on it's third year and I have run mostly 8S. Only ESC I would replace it with that fits in the same space would be an MGM.

@@jamesandonian7829 actually have a Max 8 in it and it's way more than enough! Very happy with the max 8 combo in the UDR I see no need to run 8's in this vehicle. I run mine and its natural environment not on the street or at skateparks
