    excellent video, with lots of very interesting explanations.
    In your opinion, why does my gearbox, when it reaches more than 80° and when I almost come to a stop, the engagement of first gear is sometimes a little abrupt and sometimes idling is a problem a little unstable. Thank you for your response, it would help me a lot.

      I am going to guess you meant 130,000 km's and my 1st question would be are you receiving any transmission and engine codes. Sounds like a pressure problem but you need to confirm with transmission codes that you are receiving. Same with rough idle, that could range through ALOT of problems, knowing the engine code would narrow the search down. Especially since I don't have the vehicle in front of me. Thanks for watching and I await your response.

      thank you for your feedback, I have had the diagnostic case carried out there is no error code neither in the engine nor in the gearbox, I bring you two details a few days ago, I wanted to pass the gears manually at low speed and a low pressure error code is displayed on the diagnostic, second thing, I noticed that when the box is very hot there is a little bit of the smell of engine oil. Box, which goes back to the passenger compartment? Thank you again for your clarifications.

    This is beautiful. Love this vid and subscribed. I have had a Trans issue has been Jerking, rarely does it but its there. Threw a code but i forgot which one it is. Ill come back and update once i put the obd 2 scanner. it's been troubling me because my mechanic said the $ can stack up quickly and process of elimination to fix the issue. This video is very informative and helpful. I am alittle intimidated once we start removing the sensitive parts and I learn as I go along. I also tackled opening the engine and putting In spark plugs and coils which was tedious but I loved that I learned it. Felt good to know I accomplished it. Even my mechanic was impressed lol because he said it's a pain In the ass to work on this platform. Thanks a bunch and wish me luck! Also I'll be using a Autel MaxiPRO MP808 scanner. Friend gave it to me because he doesn't do work on his cars himself. Just found out it's worth about 750$ lol.

    I have a 2016 Grand Caravan with 85k miles. Yesterday I was driving and heard a whining sound. I was in a bad area at the time so I jumped on the highway, drove about 10 miles, and when I exited the highway, after coming to a stop, the van wouldn't go. It wasn't catching gears for a few seconds then finally caught gears enough to get it to the side of the road [no lights on dash]. I called a couple people, and decided to take a chance to go another 15 miles home. The ENTIRE TIME it would only go up to 2nd gear and sometimes wouldn't even do that. I finally got it home. There are still no warning lights on. I checked the trans fluid level with my scored oil dipstick [I learned to do this from other YT mechanics], and it read way too high. The fluid itself did not smell burnt and looked ok. I siphoned about 1.5 qt out to get it right at the top of the hot line. It's still having the same issue. Still no warning lights. This is our only vehicle. Advice would be MOST APPRECIATED. Thank you in advance!

      Update: I disconnected the battery for a while and reconnected it. From what I read, that exited "limp mode." The van started to go then I heard the whining sound again, and the same thing happened [STILL NO WARNING LIGHTS ON]. I don't know how to diagnose it.

      Writing response in update below

    • @Sellthoseflippingcars
      @Sellthoseflippingcars  2 года назад +2

      Ok, first of all that is not correct with your transmission dipstick, unless you checked the temperature of the transmission before checking the transmission itself. On the 62TE transmission the correct way is to check the transmission temperature by using live data on a code reader that has it, then taking that temperature and checking your transmission fluid level table that should of came with the transmission dipstick that is in the video description. Just seeing if you have transmission fluid is great and all, but if you do not know how to read it then it does no good at all. The other videos you watched showed you a great way to save $12 and getting the correct tool for the job. Now back to the problem at hand, when you unhooked your battery, you reset the computer just like you would a desktop. Sometimes the operating system will correct the problem then other times it wont if it is a hardware issue. What you have is a hardware issue. You do not have an engine code but I am sure you have a transmission code. On the Dodge Grand Caravan it only shows transmission codes if you have a code reader that can read transmission codes (not all code readers can). I would say from what you have said you have a faulty shift solenoid and since this solenoid is electrical when you reset the computer it tried to reset but failed. Double check for transmission code, but the part you need is in the video description. It is the transmission valve body, it comes with the new sensors. This is the cheaper option then just buying the sensor by itself, from what I found. Hope this helps!! Thanks for watching and subscribe for more DIY auto repair!!

      @@Sellthoseflippingcars Thank you so much! I am trying to get someone here with a decent scanner that can scan the trans codes.

  • @clicketysplit1817
    @clicketysplit1817 Год назад +1

    I have been told on many occasions that when scanned there are low voltage codes.
    When I look at the connector where the harness plugs in (in the beginning of your video) it is in direct line of water drainage resulting from a sun heat warped windshield gutter not allowing water from rain or a car wash to drain off to the sides properly, instead it runs directly into to engine compartment and onto the harness and plug causing shortage.
    At one time after going through the car wash I noticed a weird burning plastic smell inside the car, sort of like an old transistor radio would smell if it overheated. Now as soon as I put the AC on it seems to put a drain on the voltage causing the miscommunication resulting in the trans downshifting from low speeds sort of rough.
    I brought it to Aamco and they tell me that a remanufactured transmission with labor is about $6K, but I know it's not a hardware issue, it's electrical. There is nothing wrong with the gears inside the transmission because it runs through all the gears fine without slipping getting up to speed, but when downshifting from low speeds it doesn’t seem to know how to respond at times, especially when I have the AC on in circulation mode.

    • @Sellthoseflippingcars
      @Sellthoseflippingcars  Год назад

      Sounds like the plug needs cleaned or covered after replacement to prevent this from happening again. If there is nothing wrong mechanically then it's all electronic. What are you thinking of doing? Repairing it yourself and saving the $6,000? By the way I do have a complete transmission replacement of this vehicle walkthru as well. I got the transmission for $400, $6,000 is quite steep

    Love this video! We are trying to salvage our beloved mini van. I was driving and it started acting up. Sputtering a bit whenever it shifted down or when I pushed on the gas it was a little delayed trying to get moving. It was very sudden and I tried to get home but it ended up totally failing while going up a hill. It now will start and run great but will not move at all. It was giving a code for Fluid pressure sensor A circuit permanent. Do you think changing the solenoid and filter and putting in new fluid could fix this? We have four kids and gotta get this thing going one way or another preferably without having to get a new vehicle 😖 the prices are sky high right now!

    Out of all these videos that shows how to do this I was not able to find one that had the 3.8 engine. I have a 2010 with the 3.8 engine which requires you to take the exhaust crossover pipe off in order to get the sound shield and the metal cover off. The bolts that hold this pipe on that connect to the exhaust manifold that is next to the fire wall are had to remove and take some time, the nuts are special ones with a locking tab so try not to lose them. you will also need to get 2 exhaust gaskets before you reinstall this pipe.

    • @Sellthoseflippingcars

      The replacement kit online has the exhaust gaskets in the kit. Just make sure you put your model engine correct and it will be good to go. I have another transmission replacement video for the 62TE and the transmission I pulled came off a 3.8 with the exhaust crossover. The exhaust crossover is the only difference in the removal process. If you have any questions during the repair, feel free to message and I can help you out. Thank you for watching!

    I bought it to convert it to a camper van so I got it cheap with problems.
    Problem 1. There’s rough idle in Drive and the seller said there’s a misfire. The is no vibrate when stopped in neutral.
    Problem 2. There’s jerking when I release brake and brake again. The steering wheel will jerk. The alignment is off right now for sure.
    Otherwise it runs fine going 100km without clunks. Transmission is fine. It brakes fine from that except the slight jerking on the steering wheel. Driving it would have that jerking too.

    I'm under a different profile but I'm the one with the 2013 t&c. I took the pan off and drained the fluid. All I see are shavings in there that turn to mush when you try to pick them up with a paper towel. Is that normal with 166000 miles on it? I also had it flushed a few years ago but I don't know what all they did to it.

    • @Sellthoseflippingcars
      @Sellthoseflippingcars  Год назад +1

      Yes, that is normal in a transmission pan. Shavings and slivers are normal it is when you see metal chunks that is a very bad. Remember in your transmission it has metal on metal contact with the gears turning. Your transmission fluid, lubricates and disperses heat placed by said friction of the metal. Make sure to change your transmission filter, and fresh fluid to keep your transmission running for years to come.

    Also found out that they did two recalls. Some cover for the steering wheel wiring, and a software update. Whoop, whoop 🙌. She drives like a brand new vehicle. The shifts I noticed are a lot different, almost like they’re closer together. That was part of the software update. I’m so scared to drive it 😟 and it break down 😂. The 3.6 is a great engine. I drive it real easy, if only I did the pan and filter instead of a fluid exchange at the quickly lube. I probably could have gotten more out of it. But a snow plow did hit my vehicle in the front drivers side all the way down to the rear. He was backing up and smoked my parked vehicle with his blade. I drove it home, but never went over 50. Then I noticed I had this problem with the transmission. Not sure if it’s related, but I noticed the limp mode the next day. Body shop picked it up with a tow truck. Got it back and they said no visible damage to the transmission, not part of the accident. Took it to the dealership as mentioned to get a diagnosis. And this is where we are at. Pan and filter changed, full fluid flush. Codes p1745 and p0868 along with my oil codes. Pan/filter and flush didn’t fix the issue. Fluid was a little burnt and no debris found in the pan 😮‍💨. But as you know, the pack, valve, and range sensor had to be replaced…accident related??? I couldn’t ask the dealership because I picked up my vehicle after hours and it was just a secretary.

    I have Fiat Freemont 3.6 2014 year which is Dodge Journey and have weard issue with it. The car, after warming up and driving for about 15-20 minutes, 80-100 km / h when braking to 0 before a crossroads or lights, sometimes starts to jerk as if it did not disengage the gear, the engine shakes, it pulls the gear even though I am braking. If it is dragged on the brake to 0, it will go off, or if the brake is released, sometimes it will manage to give up a gear and will not go off.
    It never happens in the city itself when driving up to 60-70 km / h, only on the road and only when I’m braking to 0. No code. I could add that few months ago I had change fluid (the mechanic said that he poured the appropriate fluid designated for these cars). The whole assembly you first removed is called a connector, not a clip. Also the light gray part is a mate assist lever. You press the latch to move the mate assist lever. The reason for the lever is because the force to simply push on the electrical connector is too high because of all the terminals, so the mate assist lever has a cam that makes the mate and unmate force easier.

Could it be the valve body? Or the Pressure Sensor?

      @@Sellthoseflippingcars Thanks for the quick reply. (I apologize for the delay in responding as I couldn't find the RUclips video that I had asked the question in.)
      I do have an aftermarket dipstick to check the fluid with, and the level is just fine. I realize now that I should have been more specific. The gear shifter would not move at all. After I asked the question, I pushed the release just above the gear shifter, and the knob would then move, although it was hard to do so. According to the indicator on the dash, I was able to get it to move from park to reverse to neutral, and then back to park. However, when the gear shifter was all the way at the bottom where drive should be, the indicator on the dash said that the transmission was in neutral.
      It seems that that the gear shifter and the transmission range sensor are no longer in sync, but I'm not sure what to do from here. I have taken the valve body cover back off to check the position of the transmission range sensor, and I believe that it is in the correct position (it's in the slot farthest to the right, which I'm pretty sure was the position it was originally in). I did not move the cable on top of the transmission, so I don't think that's the problem. Any help would very much be appreciated.

    I have a 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan same transmission I took it to the mechanic he changed the transmission solenoid afterwards the car was not driving100% percent every time I was stopping at the red light I felt that the transmission was jumping. Driving the car for about 2 weeks it stopped shifting. The car was on, was running the shift was on D yet the car wouldn't drive I was blocking the road for about 40 minutes and all of a sudden it started driving again. I took the car to the same mechanic he's telling me because there are no check engine lights on he thinks is a transmission which will cost me $2,000 plus labor. The car drives but I don't know when I'm going to get stranded again. Do you think could be something else more simpler rather than changing the whole transmission? My gut feeling is telling me that the mechanic didn't know what he was doing .

    • @Sellthoseflippingcars
      @Sellthoseflippingcars  3 года назад +1

      That is quite a predicament you have yourself in there. This video will fix that problem without switching the entire transmission. The part does cost in between 200 and $300. But replacing it as long as you follow this video will be very simple. Don't forget to get your ATF which is your automatic transmission fluid as well. What is happening with your vehicle is the hydraulic pressures are not getting where they need to be. The 62 t e transmission that can be found in the Dodge Grand Caravan and the Chrysler Town & Country is a very sensitive transmission. What happens is, if you do not change the transmission filter at the set manufacturer recommended maintenance interval then debris can fill the filter. After the debris from the transmission pan feels the filter it goes through the rest of the system blocking the ports of the hydraulic fluid. Once the system has cooled and has settled down again the debris that was blocking that poor will then free up. This will match your situation of blocking the road for 40 minutes then it suddenly started driving again. The transmission valve body is your problem not the transmission itself. Also a great way to tell is to drop the transmission pan. If you see any parts of the transmission as in transmission metal chunks sitting in the fluid then your transmission is bad. If there are no metal chunks then it is the valve body.

      This is the reason I replaced the the valve body which includes all attached solenoids. The P1745 code is line pressure too high, this means you have an obstruction in your lines. This usually happens because the transmission filter is clogged and has let some debris thru, into your lines, causing the clog.
