The trans. only slips when it is put into gear on cold morning initial start ups. Feel much better about using this product after watching your video. Makes good common sense. Sometimes less is more, this is a good example of that! I will try 12 oz. mixed with the fluid as you have described.
Have used it in the past on toyota celicas when they started slipping and not wanting to shift from 1 to 2nd gear. After about 3 weeks after adding it fixed it and shifts fine now. My main seal on the inside between engine and transmission has been on there for I think 3 decades 92 celica and slowly leaks but just recently went from slow leak to major leak were use up fluid in few days so had to pull transmission down and replace. The old seal was completely hardened. Before replacing I considered using more lucas until it softened up but it probably would have been 2 much for the other seals. I think if the seal wasn't so old the lucas would have sealed itjt up for a few extra years. So definatley is great product for getting you by or extending life of seal till you are able to put new one which if you're like me want to put off as long as possible, it's not fun taking transmissiion down, a lot of work......

An accurate dosage, oz of lucas to oz of transfluid would be best. I used two in a 6R80 with over 200,000 miles on it. Its had fluid and filter changes, isn't making metal, no lead frame issue and had reprorgraming TSB. It wasn't really slipping just flaring like solenoids were acting slow and overlapping. It's fine but I've got a bigger pan on the trans and a giant offroad racing trans cooler on the raptor. Its a ton more fluid than the trans had stock. It's probably around 20 quarts now. If its a well worn high milelage LV trans getting ran in hot conditions its probably more than worth a shot.

So, for an older Ford C6 auto, that operates normally (goes into gear without hesitation, shifts through all gears), but has a leak at the input shaft behind the converter, should a half bottle help to slow that leak down some?
This is now my toy car. I have a 20 year old mercedes with 350K miles with an original transmission. All I can say is in my case it didn’t do shit except make it worse. I’m gonna loosen the pan and drain some out and see if it makes a difference. I’ve only driven about 20 miles so far so maybe draining some will be better. I do think it’s too full. From what I paid attention to NOTLucas but every utube PRO know it all, I put a whole bottle in without draining any. BIG mistake. Level is high. No drain plug. The new (second hand) transmission was fine then it started to show some lag when put in 'drive' (when the engine was cold). I was using the original Honda Transmission Fluid. Slowly that problem got worse and I'd have to keep the car running for about 10 minutes early in the morning and only then 'drive' will respond. I was advised by a local mechanic to change to Amsoil Transmission fluid as he mentioned it has additives and I did. A) First Amsoil Transmission fluid change. It showed improvements like the 'drive' gear engaging right after I started up the car but it would only coast in drive, stepping on the accelerator didn't have any response. I'd have to warm up the engine for maybe 3-4 minutes and would be able to drive off with no issues. I noticed with each passing week, I'd have to warm up the engine longer for the drive gear to engage. The problem came back in full swing after 3 months with newer symptoms. After warming up for about 10 minutes and driving off, the engine would have to rev up to 3k or even 4k in a very struggling manner and it would sound as though the engine has to work way harder to get from the first gear to the second gear. But once at operating temperature, the transmission works just fine and smooth but it would slip sometimes. This new symptom showed up after having driven the car for about 5k miles since the Amsoil Transmission fluid change. B) Second Amsoil Transmission fluid change. So I changed the fluid again and things got better than they were towards the end of 5k mileage of the first Amsoil fluid change. I drove another 5k miles and have another new symptom. The reverse gear won't engage when the engine is cold. So I'd have to keep the engine running for about 5 minutes for the reverse gear to engage and about 10 minutes for drive gear to engage with the current trans fluid. But, in order for first to second gear to shift smoothly, id have to run the engine for about 15 minutes (reach operating temperature). 15 minutes does the trick and the car runs just fine the whole day (absolutely smooth like a new car I'd say). But if I leave the car parked for a few hours, I'd have to run the engine for about 2-3 minutes for the gears to engage. This is the current situation I'm in. So basically I have three problems: 1) Drive gear won't engage if car isn't warmed up. 2) First gear going into second struggles a lot if not sufficiently warmed up. 3) Reverse gear won't engage if the engine is not warmed up for 5 minutes. My question is: Would Lucas Transmission Fix be effective in helping me with this issue if I were to just top it up with current Amsoil Transmission fluid? Any help that comes my way is very much appreciated. It's the only car I have and I absolutely love this car. Thank you so much.
So does it makes sense to drive with Lucas for a year and then drain it out, since like all the seals are softened already and all the valves are freed?
My automatic transmission wont move the car in D mode in the morning. I have to select 1 mode for the gear to engage, then drive little bit, then put in 2 Mode and drive. When the fluid gets little warm then i put in D mode and the transmission starts shifting normally. Would Lucas fix that problem?

Great video and appreciate the information. Do you think it’s safe to put this product in my 6L90 transmission that’s in a GMC 2500 HD. I can’t find anything says it uses LV fluid.
GM recommends all 6L80 6L90 and 8L's to use LV Mobil One in place of Dex6 because Mobil one is blended for GM to combat the shudder issues and I have known people to use this in 6L90 and not known of any issues afterwards Hope this helps

2:01 very poor example. Your parts are apart on a table, and assembled trans with the piston and seal in the drum will not catch or “roll out”. There isn’t enough clearance. It will seal better, that’s the whole point of Lucas. I’ve run at least 2-3 bottles in full size trans with great results for years. Just sold my Cummins with 370,000 miles that survived the last three years on Lucas. My two new purchases 5.9 magnum with 216,000 and 6.5 diesel with 220,000 both got a full bottle on an already good trans to promote longevity given that I don’t know the maintenance history of them.

So basically I have three problems:
1) Drive gear won't engage if car isn't warmed up.
2) First gear going into second struggles a lot if not sufficiently warmed up.
3) Reverse gear won't engage if the engine is not warmed up for 5 minutes.
My question is:
Would Lucas Transmission Fix be effective in helping me with this issue if I were to just top it up with current Amsoil Transmission fluid?
Any help that comes my way is very much appreciated. It's the only car I have and I absolutely love this car. Thank you so much.

So does it makes sense to drive with Lucas for a year and then drain it out, since like all the seals are softened already and all the valves are freed?
most people dont but i think it is a good practice to change your fluid
My automatic transmission wont move the car in D mode in the morning. I have to select 1 mode for the gear to engage, then drive little bit, then put in 2 Mode and drive. When the fluid gets little warm then i put in D mode and the transmission starts shifting normally.
Would Lucas fix that problem?
I dont think it will, it sounds more complicated than that
@@codemansauto208 what could it be?
So glad I came across your video I was about to throw a whole bottle into my volvo box I will just go with half at least I can do both my cars then would you agree they are p3 v70 and s80. Thanks
yes a half bottle would be best for those transmissions
Am I right in just removing the same amount of fluid that I’m going to put in of Lucas oil ie around 350ml to keep the level correct
How’s it holding up in your Volvo? I thought about pouring it in my Volvo.
How did it turn out for you? Did it work?
@@JBeck2468it’s never had an issue since it only did the slipping sort of thing at full throttle changing to 4th each time but no issues since whether it’s the Lucas oil or the fact I’ve drained a filled about 5 times over a few hundred miles I don’t know but I’d say it’s worth trying for the cost.
Thanks, great video. Do you have a recommendation for a 4l60e with 240,000 and a slight slip between 1st and 2nd before vehicle is warmed up? It is behind a 4.3 in a GMC safari and is gently driven but does tow about 3500-4500 lbs regularly. What is odd is that it seems to drive better while towing. Thanks again!
if I was to try anything on a vehicle with 240,000 miles with a 4l60e i would try a epc solenoid because these weaken and cause transmission flare ups between shifts
@@codemansauto208 Thanks for the reply and the tip. I will have to look that up to see if that is something I can do. I've restored older cars and built engines but something about the complexity of automatic transmissions intimidates me. I dont think I'd try doing anything that could not be done through the pan. Thanks again.
Can it actually renew worn transmission fluid???
Great video, thank you. Think I’ll try some.
I’ve got a 2008 ford fusion with a leak on the factory seam of the transmission, will Lucas seal it??
is this can stop leak also?
Can you add this to a full transmission without draining it
Yes it dilutes the current ATF and makes it thicker
Will it work on a torque converter seal/pump seal if the seal is dry?
Try AT-205 stop leak. That thing restores dried seals. It helped me with rear main seal leak.
Good vid thanks. I'm having slight slips on my 2018 f150 with the 10R80 trans (10 speed) .still think I should just use 12 oz max ?
Yes
Can i use this Lucas on Manual Transmission on a VW?
Can I add 10oz Lucas to my transmission that is at a full level or do I need to remove some trans fluid first
I just emailed a Lucas rep the other day he said for half bottle you can just put in for a full bottle you need to drain the same amount.
My 2005 Lexus RX330 flares when shifting gear 2-3 after a cold start and start shifting almost normal after 10-15 minutes drive. The gear 3-4 during that time feels like hesitant also. Do you know what maybe causing it and if Lucas can help on that case? Thanks!
Did you try it? And if so... Did it work?
Is this guy related directly to Hank Hill? He sounds and acts like him 90% of the time
Should you do a fluid change the first application or can you wait until you need to ad more if not working.
Thank you for your informative video. My fluid was low so I added Dextron VI since auto parts store said that's what my vehicle calls for. Later upon re-checking tranny fluid level, I noticed writing on dipstick reads to use dextron III. How do you suggest I proceed?
Thank you in advance for your time in responding!
Dextron VI is an upgrade fluid and it will work just fine in the place of Dextron III, for future preventive maintenance you can use Valvoline MaxLife
@@codemansauto208 Valvoline Max life-thanks for the suggestion!
Hey folks, it's DEXRON.
NOT DEXTRON. It's important.
@bobfrapples4146 I'm a stickler for correct verbiage as well. For example, it irks me when someone says the ladder but they really meant the latter! So thanks for the correction. I'm curious though- in this instance, why is that important? Since there is no such thing as dextron, if you say that word, won't the person know that you mean Dexron? I'm missing your point as to why this is a big deal...
Certainly appreciate you getting back to me. Are you saying you think it’s safe to use Lucas Stop Slip in a 6L90?
That’s what it sounded like to me….
What about the Lucas transmission conditioner alot of people don’t talk about it ?
im not sure about the conditioner but haven't heard anything bad about it
just keep this hush hush so other people don't know...
So will it be okay to put a little less than a half a bottle in without draining my existing fluid? My transmission fluid isn't low and the bottle says I can, but i don't understand how that won't overfill it.
I would try to take a quart out before adding any more fluid because you don't want to overfill it
absolutely amazing
My transmission fluid is full. So, do you remove 12oz first then add it? or do you just add it to a full transmission. No one has answered this question. fluid was changed at 80k now has 120K. 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee
don't add a full bottle to that transmission and if your transmission fluid level is at max then yes you should pull some fluid back out
I’ve been looking everywhere for the answer to this question. I sometimes feel I’m the only one overthinking it . Thanks ! 👍
You said use a half a bottle but are the bottles all the same size?
I believe it's sold only in 24oz bottles.
Lucas stop slip is a great great product. My car transmission would not engage in D mode and only worked in 1 mode and Reverse.
I added this product into my transmission with old transmission fluid and after driving for a little while, the D mode came to life and shifting became smooth. This is just a great product, I would recommend to everyone with transmission issues.
just keep this hush hush so other people don't know...
Thank you for this video.
Great video..I have question. What's the best trans treatment you suggest for LV ? I have a 2012 FORD FLEX that shutters when switching from 2nd to 3rd (mostly when warm. Thanks I'll Sub 👍
The best LV fluid on the market is Mobil One in my opinion but there is a product called "Instant Shudder Fix" that might help you with this issue, it is a good product to use for any shudder and it is an inexpensive way to try
I have a leak in my engine true a seal will it help ,,
this will soften an old seal and could possibly help your issue but if you have a damaged seal than it may not help
@@codemansauto208Do you think it'll stop a CV axle seal leak ?
So I haven’t had an issue with the transmission slipping per se, but when I’m driving the rpm’s will go up but it struggles to get to 40mph. You think I should give this a shot?
Why can you not use it in a CVT?
the bottle says on the back "Compatible with all transmissions and transmission fluids with the exception of CVT transmissions"
@@codemansauto208I have a plymouth van leaking transmission fluid from a CV axle seal. Do you think think product would stop it?
Great advice .thanks
Do you think it'll slow a CV axle seal leak?
I put too muchhhh
Wasted money and put it in mine but turned out to be a waste of money!!
I wish I watched this before I put the entire transmission 🫤and it destroyed it
My sport trac had a little slip and slightly rough shift from 4th to 5th.
I put a bottle of that shit in last night and brother I mean SHIT! Now it takes forever to shift from 1st to 2nd, smooth from 2nd to 3rd, rough from 3rd 4th and 4th to 5th plus 5th FEELS like it shifts to 6th gear. I have a 5 speed transmission. There is no 6th. Slipping and rough till it finally gets completely into 5th. Made mine much worse than it was so I guess it’s time for that rebuild I figured was in my future but I thought had another year maybe cause it had the original problems for more than a year before Lucas. Gotta loosen the pan or use a pump or sucker from the stick/fill tube. I ruined a pump. Wasn’t made for liquids but I didn’t need it so I tried. Got maybe a shot glass full out before it quit. So I did nothing but ruin that pump, get fluid on the floor, and ruinate the transmission. I’m ROYALLY DANGED for sure. Oh well the wife’s outta town for a few days, I’ll just drive her G-37. It’s more fun than a sport trac anyway. And I KEEP it well maintained. Hard not to drive the shit out of it cause it’s pretty quick and good top end 155+) but I promised her I wouldn’t race it. 😂
