Take out a closed box install same filter pretty much with open box and suck all the hot air in...yeah, great idea. The extension is cool but if it your daily driver ,you can't drive it in wet/snow
The inner fender is completely sealed from the elements. The CAI intake is showing 5 to 10 degree cooler temps at the intake manifold than the SRI... very much worth that 5 additional horsepower.
Cai seems solid and yes that lower area is completely sealed. These people concerned with floods shouldn't be driving in the first place. I work on Hyundai at my dealership. That area is completely sealed and always dry even when people bring their cars in during the rainy season. Keep putting out good product! I'll be getting on of those cai when I get my N in another month :) you guys are in Auburn right?

That sounds absolutely awesome, is there a way to get the exhaust to pop the crack like some other cars do out the back on these cars, don’t know if you need to different modification for that, like on a mini Cooper you just put it in sport mode and you get the pops and cracks

$595 for the kit w/ cold air is a bit too steep for this as much as I like it. $300 for the cold air option alone! I could maybe swing an extra hundred bucks but no way 3. Otherwise, great product.
Interested in this cold air option rather than the short ram ones that everyone has. But there were some steps left off in the vid.. like how does that heat shield Go in? Does it need to be bent and fitted by the end user rather than just bolted on? You should finish the vid to show that part
We have not done the heat shield yet because we have not seen a need for it. When and if we get it finished, it will be custom formed for the car and will not require any bending or fitting for the customer.

Late to the video unfortunately but I have added your short ram intake and the Dual Port BOV to my list of parts. May add the extension to the short ram in the future.
Flutter off throttle is perfectly fine. On throttle flutter, compressor surge is not ok. When this occurs, the turbo has effectively lost its “grip” on air while the demand still exists for more air.
codydakota95 That or the compressor is pushing more air than the engine can actually take in at a given point, so the air literally has no where to go but back out the turbo while it’s under load
Believe these theta motors have some odd electronic stepper motor (EWGAT) inside turbo that controls boost level; so no standard wastegate. Think it does some type of dance with re-circ valve to control boost levels. Might be why the whoosh is so odd sounding.
i have a 2015 turbo manual veloster what are performance parts i can put on it on the lower end i have an air intake on it right now everything else is stock
Instead of that breather after the PCV valve causing a vacuum leak and making a mess of oil everywhere, install an oil catch can! Also the fender well cold air intake version will cause the air filter to be constantly dirty and have to clean it all the time! Stick to the short ram version!
I said that we were going to have an OCC system available soon. Also note... I have over 150 full throttle pulls on the dyno now, and the filter is not showing a single sign of any oil collection or residue. Incorrect on the fender well filter... if you have seen the design and how sealed that the inner fender is, dirt will not be an issue.
The N transmission is very robust! We have put 500 + WHP through the factory 1.6 turbo transmission with the standard veloster turbo. So... I would expect this to support more than that with the N model.

Does this do away with those snap, crackle, pops we all love from the VN? Didn't hear any in the demo. Love the added sound tho. Also, is this bolt and go or is a tune needed?

I live in Washington state and it rains, a lot... never had an issue with water intrusion into the filter. Inner fender is sealed very well from the factory.
The bottom of the filter is 10 inches off the ground, that is half way up the tire. If you are driving your Veloster N through 10 inches of water, you deserve to have catastrophic engine failure.
Removing the bumper is really, really easy though, probably easier than any other car I've worked on. Five minute one person job. Not worth trying to work around it, IMO.
I could find the full cold are intake you installed on the second half of the video on the site. Is it up yet? If so could you link it to me because I can’t find it?
Sell your intake to Hyundai or work with them to make it available as a manufacturer performance part. They would warranty it and you’d probably sell more.
We should, but being a tuning shop we know how bad the piggy back is for this engine. Not only that, be we have already seen 2 engine failures in the Veloster N from running piggy backs. Very good possibility that a piggy back will not be the optimal solution for this car.
@@TorkMotorsports I've used jb4 on Audi's vw for a long time with no problems. Sounds more like another issue that happened or the turbo just failed. Need more info other than just blaming jb4 for engine failure

The inner fender is completely sealed, you would have to drive through a 8 inch deep puddle to hit the bottom of the filter. If you are driving your Veloster N through 8 inch deep puddles, move it up to the short ram option, that we have in the video.

@@alechernandez5506 you should never drive through a flooded roadway. It's about your own safety more than anything because it's not always obvious how deep the water is. I see people drive into flooded roads all the time where I live cause they think they can get through it. Seconds later and they're floating. That was my point
Tork Motorsports hmmm. I’m no mechanic or engineer, so maybe I’m not understanding something correctly, but a bov that blows off more air than stock should help reduce turbo flutter. Maybe it has something to do with the placement of the bov.
@@brickson98m the BOV is controlled via solenoid, not with throttle close. This is how the BOV is programmed into the ECU. They do not use the aft throttle plate vacuum to control BOV's anymore, they use ECU programmable solenoids to control that event.
Tork Motorsports ohhh, okay. So you’d have to reprogram the bov solenoid behavior in the ecu to resolve the flutter. So then it’s getting into tuning territory. That’s cool though, because it does give more control over those systems. I believe the car has an electronically controlled wastegate as well, right?

You have to switch it into N mode to have pops, crackles, and burps from the exhaust

Getting the 3.5" tube into the inner fender requires it to be oval, that oval section is very difficult to build.

Yes it is... its a breather and we have yet to see any negative drawbacks from running it.

Does your after market BOV whoosh still at higher rpm's? It should only flutter at low RPMS's.

Yes, 10 to 12 WHP in the top end.
10 to 12 WHP in the top end... we have not tested the CAI option on the dyno yet with the stock tune.

Sounds like it needs a bigger BOV to help some of that turbo flutter.
With the bigger BOV on the car, it flutters even more, lol.
