I’ll wager much of the gain is due to having smoother tubing walls vs the flexible corrugations of the stock pipe. The corrugations introduce turbulence. Good video- thanx!
Turbo intake tuning is a little different than n.a. my bet is that the 2.75 inch intake with all marginal bends and what not is closer to the size of the stock turbo inlet and intake compressor size. I bet that any bigger than 3" or even 3" causes uneven flow or air disburence because not all the air has to go into a smaller hole from a much bigger one. A lot of the aftermarket intakes are 4" which is too much air flow for a stock turbo, and then the turbo inlet becomes a restriction because 4"-2" is a significant difference over 2.75-2. of course a 4" can flow more than 2.75, but we need to match what the motor can do. Long story short the bigger intake cause a restriction and you need to get a turbo inlet upgrade to match the gains of a smaller intake
Would love to see a follow up dyno video, I would suspect that the ECU would revert back to something more similar to the stock graph. Not sure why anyone would buy this intake considering it has smaller piping then the stock air box. If you really want sound, take the air box top off and buy a drop in filter.
Actually, we did another stock dyno about 4 months later when we were getting ready for tuning. The original gains were still present from the intake. The ECU has about 30-35 WHP adjustment for increased air in and increased exhaust out. With full bolt on cars, we see an average of 30 to 35 WHP over stock.
I just bought one of these cars from a dealer pre owned, it came with one if these intakes, nice surprise! BUT.. one of the tubes are missing. I’m not sure why that would be, but the inlet for the missing tube is taped off. I’m no mechanic and just worried about why that could be and if it’s damaging anything. I think it’s a breather tube someone called it. Also, someone pointed out i have the turbo dct, not the N model and this intake was made for the N model. I’m lost!
It sounds like the previous owner also had a blow off valve installed. From factory the car has a re-circulation valve that sends some excess air from the turbo back to the intake (it's not much lol) but with a blow off valve that air vents to the atmosphere, and it sounds amazing. When you let go of the gas, do you hear a sound like you're opening a Sprite can? If so, then yea you have a blow off valve
Debating on whether or not a tune is worth it. I've been running the intake for a few months now and haven't had any issues? Are these numbers with the stock ECU and stock tune?
The VN must have a much more restrictive intake than the EN because aftermarket intakes on the EN are only showing 0-5Hp gains. One youtuber did the intake and inlet and still only got a 6HP gain.
I believe it does, but we have tested the EN and KN intakes and they are delivering similar gains on the dyno, we just have not posted any of those videos. Also note, some of these ECU's have changed and they have inserted power limiters/air flow limiters into the 2022 and newer KN and EN ECU's.

Great Content, cool to see the Dino chart breakdown!
Just bought one from you guys online. Cant wait 👀
Just saw your video. Sounds Awesome🔥
Those are good numbers, and still super drivable
This is surprising. I picked up this intake because of the sound appeal and was only expecting minor gains in HP. Way to do the science!
Whats the difference stock vs intake
In the video towards the end, he shows the Dyno results. About +20HP with the AEM intake.
@@8SpeedNate best intake for our cars hands down IMO ain’t seen any other cai or ram air make those numbers on a dyno
Great video, intakes are the gateway drugs for people like us who end up fully ripping out and building their engine for no powa baby. ❤
LOL, a car parts addiction is always better than an actual drug addiction.

That tiny amount of turbulence has a Zero Effect on a turbo as the turbo will straighten out any turbulence by force.
I would say more comes from the higher flowing filter than the paper thing that comes from the factory.
Sorry guys, I had commenting turned off. Its turned back on now.

The 3.5 inch intakes have always made more power. Why? I have no idea but the dyno doesn't lie.
@@TorkMotorsports 3.5 intakes in general or Veloster n specific?

Yes, stock ECU and just intake.
We have a great tune listed on the website.

Can you do a install of the forge intake on the veloster n and show the dyno results?!
As soon as we get a local customer that wants to buy an intake.... we can.

15 to 20 WHP gains

Not at all, but a tune makes the car run much better!

Yes.

Yes

Normal with these small turbos on these cars. It's not bad for the car or turbo.

As far as we know, yes.
DCT is a 2021 not a 2020.
Thank you.
And will this fit on a 21 N dct?
Yes.
Sorry but 2020 model didn't come with the Dct
Correct, I didn't know it was a 2021.
Hey what sort of gains can I expect from the 6mt
Should be similar gains between the MT or DCT.
