      I don’t remember seeing them put in better valuesprings. Honestly valve springs are good for a few hp up top because the K-series used lighter seat pressure springs for economy. But they start to float before the cams start running out of flow at high rpm. (Even with stock cams)
      So if they accidentally overlooked that. It was a pretty big missed opportunity.😢 and one that really would’ve helped. Otherwise it’s going to float valves when you’re going all out.
      Plus with the balance shaft delete, you won’t even notice the slight economy loss from added resistance of a tiffer Springs.

    For the build of that Honda Civic, I remember from multiple sources that you will need a 3 inch exhaust which is the perfect spot for k20 and k24's with this build. I dont remember if it is with or without turbo. If you go with a bigger resonator, it will make the exhaust sound better

    • @igvtec

    • @TrackSol
      @TrackSol Год назад +2

      Pretty sure Ben's EK has a full K24A2 out of a TSX instead of the KFrank K24/K20. He's running in GLTC now, which allows engine internal modifications but they have to meet specific power output dyno rules, but before GLTC he was in Track Battle (time attack) and the class he ran in didn't allow head swap or internal engine upgrades: "Factory internals are specified as pistons, compression ratio, rods, camshafts, head and block casting, bore and stroke size and head porting (example: K24 swap ok, K24 block with k20 head not allowed, etc)".
      I don't recall seeing him changing from a K24A2 to a K24/K20 for GLTC and instead it looks like he's been focusing on optimizing the chassis/aero/brakes.

    • @Hipsters_N_Hippies
      @Hipsters_N_Hippies Год назад +1

      @@S4Meow I’ve even seen videos where switching just springs alone have raised up the rpm even with stock cams. So it’s definitely probable that even though they improved the flow up to that point. That the highest Rpm in this configuration is still limited... and only by stupid little springs.
      And also the flow nearing that Rpm isn’t as consistent as it could/should be. So it’s a little slower (hence the hp to be gained)
      Now yes down low the engine would have to work harder to overcome the higher spring pressure. But they already reduced the friction more than the springs (and besides the springs they already added cams with a higher and possibly steeper lift) but when they removed the balance shafts. They reduced the drag and friction pretty well. Possibly enough to offset the cams and springs (if not by more🤷🏻‍♂️)

      The longer rods really shine at higher rpm (shorter rods shine at lower rpm) they got the ecu, the tuner, the higher lift and duration cams, and a few other good things going for them. But they just might have somewhat dropped the ball and decided to come just short of a beautiful mechanical work of art. (And I AM NOT a Honda guy. What was the build cost?
    I had the opportunity to spend a wad of cash this year. Eg civic k swapped awd was on the list partly cause I wanted to d series swap my classic mini. D series out of civic-put d series in engine bay of mini-k swap in into civic. 2 conversions for one.
    Added what I thought it would cost and the numbers just kept going up, so I bought an 04 wrx STI with EJ25 conversion instead…
    Also what was that ticking noise? It’s in this video and the last one. A bit of foreshadowing…?
