My friend bought a cheap ek1 and we were throwing the k24 swap idea arounf for a few weeks. This build series dropped. Its a sign. FULL VTEC AHEAD!!! Thanks guys
Love these little K swap Hondas, so fun to drive. My old k20/24 em1 made 167kw had no problems keeping up with cars with almost double the power. Theyre fun, reliable, cheap to run and maintain. Had my fair share of turbo cars but little hondas are so fun to drive always end up back in one. Glad to see you guys doing a k swap build ❤
For the build of that Honda Civic, I remember from multiple sources that you will need a 3 inch exhaust which is the perfect spot for k20 and k24's with this build. I dont remember if it is with or without turbo. If you go with a bigger resonator, it will make the exhaust sound better
3 inch exhaust system naturally aspirated without turbo. Because of how efficient they are, people have found out that's the best diameter for breathing with naturally aspirated builds.
Hope to see a collab video with Gears and Gasoline! Ben also has an EK with a K20 head and K24 block combo that Marty can do as well. Endless possibilities with this setup and as a honda guy I'm really excited for the next episodes!
Pretty sure Ben's EK has a full K24A2 out of a TSX instead of the KFrank K24/K20. He's running in GLTC now, which allows engine internal modifications but they have to meet specific power output dyno rules, but before GLTC he was in Track Battle (time attack) and the class he ran in didn't allow head swap or internal engine upgrades: "Factory internals are specified as pistons, compression ratio, rods, camshafts, head and block casting, bore and stroke size and head porting (example: K24 swap ok, K24 block with k20 head not allowed, etc)". I don't recall seeing him changing from a K24A2 to a K24/K20 for GLTC and instead it looks like he's been focusing on optimizing the chassis/aero/brakes.

Back in 2017 I raced a tuned prelude or integra (cant remember which) in my stock r34 GTR, the thing kept up with me till 80kph, at around 100kph i was only a car length ahead. I was flabbergasted.. Honda's are great cars, have mad respect for them. I hope i never come across a turbo'd one 😅

I've had two RD7 CR-Vs with K24s, not a performance car by any stretch, both were high km workhorses that got flogged, I broke just about everything on those cars EXCEPT the engines. One of them had over 400,000 kms on it and was still pulling hard. Absolutely unbreakable engines. I'm surprised Scotty didn't mention the StanceWorks Ferrari, that K24 is BUILT, like capable of 1000hp when it's turned right up. maybe this was filmed before the StanceWorks guys came to town for Time Attack. Absolutely phenomenal car, Scotty featured in a few of those vids, the bloody legend he is.

Within our group of friends we have a K20-EK and a built-B16-EF9. The K Motors are amazing and the aftermarket is great but the little B is a bit more raw in a good way and inside the light old chassis also lots of fun. Much slower though, even with nearly 200hp at the flywheel.

Stock valve springs are might be causing the roll over just over 8200rpm actually so good point. I would have thought that long runner intake would be good for more rpm.
@@S4Meow I’ve even seen videos where switching just springs alone have raised up the rpm even with stock cams. So it’s definitely probable that even though they improved the flow up to that point. That the highest Rpm in this configuration is still limited... and only by stupid little springs. And also the flow nearing that Rpm isn’t as consistent as it could/should be.
