@johnsineni Actually it's the super charger that caught my eye. all these turbos lately. I think the supercharges are becoming forgotten. For the street though I like the idea of turning up or down the boost so easily.
If your gonna use the quote, commenting on a Honda video, please use the quote with accuracy. The exact quote is “so much torque, the chassis twisted coming off the line” 😂❤
All this J series content definitely has me thinking about my old 2001 cl type S. A set of headers and a comptech intake really made that engine roar. Keep up the good work vtec academy!
A heavy wonderful thought for all the VTEC Academy friends. It just hit my Dad and I. Soichiro Honda, the founder of Honda, would be truly so proud of Brian and the team at VTEC Academy. In the honour and traditions of Japanese culture and philosophies, Mr. Honda, who has said, " "Racing improves the. breed." and " “I think best when I have a wrench in my hands.”", would welcome Brian and the team into his home. But then after tea, they'd all hang out in the garage. And that is as cool as it can gets.
Yea whats the deal with the cooling? Is that a cooling block below the S/C or just a mount? You can add an air-to-water heat exchanger in the path of the S/C into the motor and cool that coolant with a seperate low-Temp pressurized coolant system. Could be getting hotter and hotter IATs which blows hot air and causes knock, and the ECU having to pull timing, etc..
I always really love the science behind your videos. I also love that you decided to use a smaller belt, which would allow you to put pressure on the pulley, stopping the slippage..
Love the project!!! Please put on a bigger Throttle Body and make that intake to the TB shorter. Just measure the pressure between the TB and the rotors of the charger and you will see the difference. Make sure the inlet surface area of the charger is smaller or the same as the throttle body. Otherwise you will have a restriction. Any tensioner on the pulling side will not work, you will always have belt slippage. Otherwise go to an 8 or 10 grooved setup.
Brian you should hit up lht performance on they're griptec super charger pulleys and see if they have something for you. my Jackson supercharger wasn't slipping to my knowledge I bought the pulley just to try and everyone that was using a Jackson racing supercharger charger all were boosting slightly apart from each other and I picked up boost consistently back to back and was the same diameter pulley as well
Good, stuff, goiing on a whim here, but it sounded like it started to miss fire the last 2 runs, most likely it's spark gap. but it could be many things best of luck figuring it out!
18:48 You can hear some minor breaking up(?) happening in the later pulls - almost sounds like making popcorn in a pot. Maybe a fueling issue? I certainly don't have nearly as much experience as some of the people here, but the engine sounds ... off to me.
Hello great work I have 94 civic with turbo b18c I always wondered about starting in second gear because first spins no matter what I do what is your thoughts it’s gsr trans as well
You can try but you’re probably going to bog or roast the clutch, you need better tires and stiffer rear suspension to limit weight transfer and then start adding weight on the front bumper sometimes takes up to 150lbs to get them to stick
Im not sure about the intake. It looks kind of goofy, but it would be a good place to put a water injection system. It would be cool to see it long striding a 3.7.
The engine sat a long time so no surprise it’s smoking. I didn’t see anyone even try to put any lubricant in the bores and turn it by hand. You shouldn’t just fire up any engine that sits without putting at least a little lubricant in the bores to keep the rings from wiping out. Surface rust always builds on the walls when an engine sits cause some valves are open.
2:45 Guys, this certainly doesn’t look like a J32! That style of exhaust post is the second style of single port Honda used on the J series. The one that came on the 04-08 TL is different. That engine is likely a J35 or J37. Also, the “J32” stamped on the block doesn’t have the correct spacing. Looks like as if someone used to race this car and swapped a different engine but stamped J32 on it to trick people.
Heck yeah i want to j swap my 00 coupe! I was just waiting for more affordable ecu options to become available, like they just are! Do you know if a stock ek subframe with work with a j swap?
I absolutely love your channel everything you guys do is super cool I have a lot of friends that are into Hondas I brag about how you can cram a j35 into a freaking 2006 and up Civic, that is on my bucket list. However I'm curious to see why you went with the Mad Max double supercharger look personally it doesn't make sense to me if you can't see you can't drive. That was the problem with the one in the movie if you watch the behind the scenes they said they couldn't see anything on the other side of the car. My solution would be to remove the power steering pump relocate it to a completely different area use the V of the engine to put a 2006 or newer M90 or m122 supercharger in the v and it might even clear the hood who knows plus running a 2.5 inch pulley would definitely get you into the 450 horsepower range. There is a channel by the name of Richard holder on RUclips he's done all kinds of freaking tests on the superchargers and he's amazing as well he's an old dude with tons and tons of knowledge I love his channel as well. Thank you for all the hard work you do you guys are knocking it out of the park.
I want to swap a J37 out of my 2008 Acura MDX into my 2002 Civic and I want to keep the car a manual would I have to use a TL 6 speed transmission or are there other transmission options
And this is why we stick with D series and B series engines on these types of civics , we can still run 10s and use it to the supermarket and nobody knows what I can do till u meet up on street or track....
Wish like hell Hondata would support 1st Gen J series...would make things so much easier for modern tuning on my CLS6..Really dont wanna use AEM and costs alot more to go with a better, more modern tuning software on 1st Gen Js. 😢

thermal soak . needs air to water inter-cooler to fix problem
That's one theory. When we get it tuned again, we will see if the the boost is falling off still.
