I am sure Haltech is fully aware, but to have a brilliant man like Tuning Fork as part of the team is the stuff empires are made of. What a humble, brilliant man. Kudos Tuning Fork.
What a symphony of exhaust notes from both cars! Supergramps is like Kodiak bears having sex while skydiving and the Double Unicorn is like a portal to Hell opening up and then Satan's V8 comes barrelling out.
+MaxTheKanuck Sounds just like a Ford Modular. Wonder if Ford took a few looks at these engines. my 94 Cougar 4.6 sounds the same minus the turbo noise
+Crusty Crab the 5.4 dohc Boss motor we have in aus is very similar, pretty sure they have 4 bolt mains aswell and no ones ever seen a piston go through the block in one in normal and performance circumstances
I enjoy Marty and Moog's joking around and all, but I could literally listen Mechanical Stig, Tuning Fork, and Turbo Yoda talk about nerdy car stuff for hours.
At first I was a bit disappointed that Benny hadn't fitted a bigger pump yet. But when he explained what was involved in doing the job properly, I could see why. Those guys work to a high standard and these videos inspire me to increase my own standards of work.Keep it up!!!
If I ever go down that road where my car is in need for an ECU I will definitely look at what Haltech offer. It really does seem their products are build by enthusiasts and the support looks good especially with all the constant firmware updates.
Very nice that they finally explained why it's taking a bit longer than expected with the stagea fuel pump setup. Sounds like they're properly listening to their fans/subscribers! Keep up the good work lads!
Note to Marty: some folks in the US have done internal mods to the EZ series if I remember correctly. I know most have been EZ30 stuff, but for some reason I think I've seen someone put custom pistons in an EZ36 at some point. It'd take me a bit to track it down but with some Google Fu you ought to be able to find some info. A lot of times when a custom piston is made for an engine, the piston-maker will keep the spec sheet around for future use.
That drag race (and any others between MCM builds) really ought to be uploaded here or on the main channel. It'll have to do for those of us that can't get to Sydney. How exciting!
+callum mackay (Calum137) yeah because one-off CNC milled parts aren't ridiculously expensive... Remember their current challenge is a $3000 build INCLUDING the cost of the car! A whole set of custom made CNC pistons and rods is likely to cost more than $3k just on its own.
thecrappygamer69 I didn't want to have to explain this, but since you haven't understood it then I'll explain further, in fewer words: THEY DON'T HAVE AN ENDLESS SUPPLY OF MONEY.
I have no understanding of most of the things and terms that are thrown around in these videos, yet I still find this entertaining. These two cars are completely awesome. I am still driving turds but its always good to be inspired and have something to aspire to.
Me being boring, I've been crunching some numbers. Annnd the news doesn't look good for SuperGramps. The Subaru is punching out 262awKw and weighs, at least in factory trim, 1480kg. This equates to 177kw/ton. The Stagea punches out 358awKw and weighs, again in factory trim, 1620kg. Even with the weight advantage Gramps has, it can't really answer the Stagea's 222kw/ton. It's all going to come down to the driver and the transmission on the day.
+Ben Ward The Nissan is apparently a part-time AWD system, so that may seriously impact his start. I dunno if he can override it and force a full AWD lockup, but Marty may have a serious traction advantage off the line.
+TheJohn8765 I agree with the traction off of the line, but the 1/4 mile isn't _just_ about the launch. I like I said, it'll come down to the driver and the transmission on the day. From a personal standpoint, as much as I'd admit I'd rather the Suby than the Nissan, the Stagea would be my bet for the race.
good effort today guys. event turned out great. got some mad selfies with you boys and got to see the cars in action. and then prooving how real the show is with the cars going wrong loved every bit of it.
Dylan Ch'ng Get a clue Dylan. you don't know how this works do you? If you like the content, understand that there is a financial outlay for all the overheads and purchase of vehicles and some parts. This is covered by diversifying the utube content on multiple channels. That pays for it and leaves some left over for the effort. If you like the show, STFU! if you don't, hit unsub and go away!simples!
+Byzantine The Stagea has almost 100 more horse power. I'm sure Supergramps is going to put up a good fight but with that much more power it's a losing battle
I really love how all these guys who once back then were a LITTLE bit camera shy. but now everyone chatting it up having a good time like if there were no camera there at all :) Looks like you guys had a blast!
A technical question about the supergramps first dyno run:At roughly 5:25 minutes on the top left the AFR1 channel stays fairly constantly on 14 throughout the whole power run. Is that not ridiculously lean for high load operation on a turbo engine? On max load I would assume you would be running lambda 0.7-0.8 which on e85 is AFR 7 and on petrol round AFR 10. Running lean would mean increased temp both in the combustion chamber (and knock) and high turbo in temperatures.
+Ben Ward not necessarily in these two. Although that would be cool. Enormous power gains to be had on the i6. The power level from that V8T can be had with very little mods. Plus...Australian :)
No I wouldn't put in one of these cars, they have their own styles. I would love to put a barra in one of the older X series utes. Built motor, loads of boost, bang 10 second passes.
Those feels when you've been watching for years, then discover you've somehow missed a whole second channel full of awesome shit to watch. Cheers boys!
J T W I'm not sure what map mine is running, I bought it like this but it absolutely rapes my Rica 304 mapped 850 t5.. and those things are about 260-270 bhp roughly..
The sleeper battle would be incomplete without Miss Daisy. I know Moogs mini is also a sleeper but couldn't hope to hold it's own against the others, whereas a detuned Miss Daisy chopped Supergramps already
I think that they've done some more work on her for upcoming episodes, I seem to recall in the new season overview type thing Miss Daisy on a ramp. Doing a 2.0L Subaru Turbo conversion to my 72 bug as we speak, but the engine is standard and it will be using a reverse geared Subaru gearbox and Subaru drive shafts so it should handle the power then :)
I love how the Stagea starts off all quiet and then opens up and nearly shakes the fucking room
*quiet
+Joe Wilson-Palmer yea i don't get that either first it sounds like turbos then the v8 roars.
+Joe Wilson-Palmer I think its when it switches cams it really comes alive.
+jhowe427 wastegate opens. its running a screamer pipe
+Joe Wilson-Palmer wastegate
I am sure Haltech is fully aware, but to have a brilliant man like Tuning Fork as part of the team is the stuff empires are made of. What a humble, brilliant man. Kudos Tuning Fork.
Tuning Fork is a car god. I could listen to him talk about cars for hours.
bang
+Burrito Sandwich yea i dont understand alot of it but it makes me feel smart just listening to him
True that
tuning fork and the chap who talked about clutches, I'd listen to them all day
+EQWoody “nosepress” He's got videos on haltech's youtube channel.
What a symphony of exhaust notes from both cars! Supergramps is like Kodiak bears having sex while skydiving and the Double Unicorn is like a portal to Hell opening up and then Satan's V8 comes barrelling out.
😂😂😂😂
The VH41DE Sounds exactly like the Modular 5.4L V8 in my Dad's F150. Except, obviously, minus the choo choo.
+MaxTheKanuck Sounds just like a Ford Modular. Wonder if Ford took a few looks at these engines.
my 94 Cougar 4.6 sounds the same minus the turbo noise
that's beautiful man
+Crusty Crab the 5.4 dohc Boss motor we have in aus is very similar, pretty sure they have 4 bolt mains aswell and no ones ever seen a piston go through the block in one in normal and performance circumstances
Who wants to see tuning forks 400kw evo?
Who doesnt?
+Loowie P yes EVO's are life
I want to see Tuning Fork's Evo
I want to see tuning evo's fork
I enjoy Marty and Moog's joking around and all, but I could literally listen Mechanical Stig, Tuning Fork, and Turbo Yoda talk about nerdy car stuff for hours.
I don't think I've ever seen Tuning Fork and Turbo Yoda in the same place. Why? No building can contain that much awesome.
At first I was a bit disappointed that Benny hadn't fitted a bigger pump yet. But when he explained what was involved in doing the job properly, I could see why. Those guys work to a high standard and these videos inspire me to increase my own standards of work.Keep it up!!!
Sooooo when are we going to see Tuning Fork's Evo?
I had already forgotten just how good the supergramps sounds! What a nice duo of superwagons these are.
Tuning Fork is the devil on your shoulder "You wanna wind it up until something falls out" Outstanding work. Love it.
Thanks for including horse power levels. That keeps me from having to convert it. Can't wait to see the drags.
I love benny`s Stagea doble unicorn, but Marty`s Super Gramps its so beautifull with that colour and those work meister wheels :O
i'd kill to see supergramps have custom rods and pistons, maybe we should start a kickstarter?
Just crazy! 480 hp, wagon, awd, Full interiour. Man you Are one lucky guy ;)
Fork is a hell of a man, I respect the knowledge this man possesses
the roof carrier is an integral part of the Stagea's style...
If I ever go down that road where my car is in need for an ECU I will definitely look at what Haltech offer. It really does seem their products are build by enthusiasts and the support looks good especially with all the constant firmware updates.
So much love for both supergramps and the double unicorn. Can't decide which one I like more. Mad props to all of you dudes.
I want to see Tuning fork's EVO!
Same!
Very nice that they finally explained why it's taking a bit longer than expected with the stagea fuel pump setup. Sounds like they're properly listening to their fans/subscribers! Keep up the good work lads!
I love the sound of double unicorn 😍
Especially when the boost starts to kick in
Tuning Fork is such a legend. I always enjoy watching him geeking out with Marty.
Damn that Nissan sounds so refined at low RPMs.. Then it turns into a monster! It's exactly what you'd want of a daily driver
Loving the sound of that wastegate opening up into the exhaust on the Stagea... sounds lovely
Congrats to Scotty on getting married
Yea say the same thing
Krizzzy90898 Classic Internet response

Lots of people build the engines for crazy power, you just need to find information about it
love that stagea just so beautiful
If you aren't already doing a video for it, could you please consider doing one for the fuel pump install?
Rake Loves This.
idk man i miss him
The double unicorn has been my favorite build this far!
+mcmtv2 Any chance we'll get a video of the pump install, Marty?
+PIK x2, I'd love to see that.
That drag race (and any others between MCM builds) really ought to be uploaded here or on the main channel. It'll have to do for those of us that can't get to Sydney. How exciting!
We'll see him on 1320 video soon.
today on my was to school this morning I saw Marty sitting in super gramps on Bowden street in west Ryde!!!!! Made my day!!!!!
MARTY!!!! CNC PISTONS AND RODS!!!
It'd probably be the best way to go about it.
+callum mackay (Calum137) yeah because one-off CNC milled parts aren't ridiculously expensive... Remember their current challenge is a $3000 build INCLUDING the cost of the car! A whole set of custom made CNC pistons and rods is likely to cost more than $3k just on its own.

Both cars are sweet, but I'm gonna root for Supergramps (with it being kind of the underdog here). Can't wait to see the dragrace now :)
Привееет!! :D
David Dimov
Салют!))
+SwapBlogRU о, привет)
+SwapBlogRU i'm gonna bet on Unicorn =) that's a serious pull, even if the car is heavier than Gramps, it has an advantage of about 80HP
+Иван Волосян Hp per tonne will be where its won and lost I think, Gramps has a slightly better drive train for drags as well. (In my opinion)
Yes yes yes yes yes! I freaking love supergramps, but the double unicorn... my oh my!
I can't wait to see the Stagea crack 500hp
You guys are so lucky to have these mates around you ... I mean, all the knowledge they can share with you ! Maaad Respect
Me being boring, I've been crunching some numbers. Annnd the news doesn't look good for SuperGramps. The Subaru is punching out 262awKw and weighs, at least in factory trim, 1480kg. +TheJohn8765 The Haltech controls the system in 100% so it can do whatever he wants probably.
+MindBlowerWTF unless the diff controls itself mechanically. But I don't even have a car so my thoughts may be completely wrong :D
+Matej Sommer i should clarify that i only meant front/rear torque split, not sure about locking the diffs
That sounds soooo good when you give it a boot full, loving the Stagea
Would love to see Benny crack the 500hp
+madmick82 to be fair, it's making over 500 hp at the crank. Probably ~570 hp
+Alex A And that is where the car companies measure it
+Alex A More than that, considering it's 4WD.
luuzeri yeah definitely being a bit conservative.
I'm interested in seeing Tuning Fork's evo!!
Can we get a look at tuning forks Evo??!
I agree.
20:45 😳 turn the sound up 😍👍👏
You sir are a legend!
If Tuning Fork did up a Legnum VR-4 the trio would be complete.
Well, with Tuning Fork's well documented history of Mitsubishis, I wouldn't rule that out...
Tuning Fork is the best person! He's so positive and knowledgeable. I love that he's getting sooo much better on camera.
Still waiting for the roadkill cross over.
you have been blessed ahahah
good effort today guys. event turned out great. got some mad selfies with you boys and got to see the cars in action. and then prooving how real the show is with the cars going wrong loved every bit of it.
love the beard mate! going full Viking! 'spect
Love this "nerdy" stuff! And the cars... I'm a big wagon guy and this is just perfection!!
i still love super gramps moreeeee
Both are awesome but yeah super gramps is og
Good God supergramps sounds so good
Tuning fork with the, "What did you say". Benny: "Best pull I've ever had" Fork: "And we had it together" hahaha
why isn't this on the main channel as it contains Super Gramps
+Dylan Ch'ng who gives a fuck what channel it is on? farken hell. some PPL r hard to please!
+Dylan Ch'ng Because it's mostly about double unicorn.
+Dylan Ch'ng subscribe to both channels! Easy! I think MCM should have a third channel just because.
Simon Coles and post what on the third channel. Goat related content?
Dylan Ch'ng Get a clue Dylan. you don't know how this works do you? If you like the content, understand that there is a financial outlay for all the overheads and purchase of vehicles and some parts. That is so awesome. I would love to pull that kind of power it off my 1 ton I have a 7.4Ltr. in it and think it really needs a turbo and a 2500 elite.
The stagea is going to kick the shit out of Supergramps
+LPXDproductions Well Supergramps is more Aerodynamic than the Stagea. Chopped it not the right word... its going to be a mulching
yep its so gonna loose lol
Wolf Spirit its not going to be fucking close lol... unless the Stagea gearbox crumbles, Super Gramps has no fucking chance lol
+Byzantine The Stagea has almost 100 more horse power. I'm sure Supergramps is going to put up a good fight but with that much more power it's a losing battle
Ooops.... Haha
I really love how all these guys who once back then were a LITTLE bit camera shy. but now everyone chatting it up having a good time like if there were no camera there at all :) Looks like you guys had a blast!
How is that a touch up..the yellow line just got lower than the blue line. I'm no subaru scientist but doesn't that mean less power?
+Ryan Barbolt
I guess clean up over the whole range.
That beast ish sound, when the boost comes in. Scared the crap outta me the first time. :D
today on mcm, benny has the greatest pull hes ever had, then marty gets fisted
A technical question about the supergramps first dyno run:At roughly 5:25 minutes on the top left the AFR1 channel stays fairly constantly on 14 throughout the whole power run. just put an i6 Turbo Barra in it. Heaps of power and torque!
I'd love them to do a barra conversion. my favourite engine
+Bunna08 In what? Stagea or SuperGramps?
+Ben Ward not necessarily in these two. Although that would be cool. Enormous power gains to be had on the i6. The power level from that V8T can be had with very little mods. Plus...Australian :)
No I wouldn't put in one of these cars, they have their own styles. I would love to put a barra in one of the older X series utes. Built motor, loads of boost, bang 10 second passes.
Love the wagons!
I want to see Scott's Evo! Is it anywhere on the Internet?
+matt avery
/watch?v=D_Av9RTzBBw
Those feels when you've been watching for years, then discover you've somehow missed a whole second channel full of awesome shit to watch. Cheers boys!
Gramps came in for his yearly physical exam. Turn to the left and cough please!
it's been a while since I've seen gramps. forgot how cool that color is!
glad they're not the typical "if its not a v8, sold rear axle it aint a car "
love the sound the double unicorn makes when it gets on boost
SHOW SCOTTY'S EVO! THUMBS UP IF U WANT TO TOO!
+M3rcy00 please happen
I want to see scottys evo so bad. haha. 400kw evo FUCK YEAH
Like the new dyno, looks nice seeing the live hp readout in a graph.
Legendary wagons.
Hell yeah!
The production quality even for a dyno video on your second channel is amazing. Good stuff.
Supergramps is gonna get spanked er... Chopped.
Maaaaaaddd. That's one sweet Stagea!
If gramps lose, i hope he bring miss daisy for a rematch
No one will bear 'miss daisy'
+1300l gramps will probably lose, but that doesn't mean its a worse car. Stagea racing miss daisy would be awesome.
BCJDM
I know. Still my favorite MCM is miss daisy ;)
Love the show guys. Keep it up. Much respect from the USA
My Volvo c70 t5 on a remap is making about 280 - 290, thats it.. Stock everything else. Long Live the Turbo 5 Cylinder!
inline 5 is the best!
H0pp3nst3dt
Plus it sounds absolutely epic!
+Bunka Fas I had a similar engine in my For Focus ST. Fantastic motor, loved driving it!
Got the Rica 310 map on my v70r awd. Awesome engine.
J T W
I'm not sure what map mine is running, I bought it like this but it absolutely rapes my Rica 304 mapped 850 t5.. and those things are about 260-270 bhp roughly..
that Double Unicorn Stagea is MADD as it can be. top build I love it!
Supergramps is toast.Bring out the sleeper beetle!
The sleeper battle would be incomplete without Miss Daisy. I know Moogs mini is also a sleeper but couldn't hope to hold it's own against the others, whereas a detuned Miss Daisy chopped Supergramps already
+Benjaman Woolner Provided, of course, Miss Daisy doesn't split a drive-axle. Again.
I think that they've done some more work on her for upcoming episodes, I seem to recall in the new season overview type thing Miss Daisy on a ramp.
Doing a 2.0L Subaru Turbo conversion to my 72 bug as we speak, but the engine is standard and it will be using a reverse geared Subaru gearbox and Subaru drive shafts so it should handle the power then :)
if you guys still have the beetle you should run the stagea in it.
in my probably unpopular opinion i thinks Gramps looks better than the Stagea, i am also a die-hard Nissan fanboy
+Gabriel Rosales yeah the paint job on supergramps makes it look mean
All Subaru's look sexy as fuck, let's be honest here.
+Gabriel Rosales Super Gramps looks much better than the Stagea, The front end on the Stagea looks weird
Its the wheels.
+Gabriel Rosales Agree on the better looks, but that VH41!
You never forget your best pull :P
Vw beetle v double unicorn would be mad
More of tuning fork please. Everything he says is interesting and helpful. Btw love the show guys.
Whats up Goat Squad?!?!
+Chance Squires YES!!
Scotty is an absolute genius. I need a friend like him in my life!
So Marty's car makes two-sixty and his other car makes two-sexy. I'm starting to see a pattern.
+Fabijan Kadi I think the second car is Too sexy. I am so excited to see how will #teamEvo smash Wasabi
+Titapade naaah man, #teamdentistjet all the way
+Fabijan Kadi I love Mitsubishi with all my butt. Because butt IS bigger than heart 😂😂
+Titapade love and common sense are often misconcept.
+Fabijan Kadi yep but U know common sense goes to work not to the fun :-)
I love super gramps but that stagea is an absolute beast, I can't wait to see how much bhp it makes with twin pumps
get off the Dino and get on the road and race
+gtadude24245 ummm.. we are.. did you catch that part?
+mcmtv2 all I hear is MAAAAAAAAAAD
+mcmtv2 It's a little hard to hear with all the loud choo-choo's coming from these monsters.
+gtadude24245 "...Dino..." *Jurassic Park theme plays* Well shit that's pretty amazing!
+mcmtv2 all i see in this video is just dyno test.
so pumped for the weekend now
Now what do I do with this erection at work?
+Bruno Danese Take a really cold shower
+Bruno Danese "bathroom break"
+Bruno Danese Call your Grandmother
+Bruno Danese clean your glasses ;)
I wish the US got something like the Stagea, I really dig it.
Canada has them! :D
+Franglais! umm no...
umm yes...
mad i saw Supergramps cruising through Ramsgate the other day sounds like a beast
MCM is darn near perfect!...this was soo good and informative.
Cant wait till Saturday, just gotta get my car prepped and ill be good to go (Really hope I have my exhaust on)
nice one Benny. scottie has never failed explaining the laws of tuning and engine limits. will see if Marty can catch up with the big turbo V8.
