This is what I love about MCM. When you follow a tv series, you just watch it, close the tv and get on with your life. With these guys everything is so much better. If we have questions, they just release another video where they explain everything. Love you guys!
with all due respect, the beetle episode was the most maaaaad show in recent times. not saying the episodes are not that good, just that the other ones felt a bit main stream whereas the beetle episode went back to the roots of the show. episodes like this are what makes Mcm, what it is. hats off to you guys keep chopping (thumbs up)
You guys are AWESOME. This story with the Sleeper Beetle, really touched me, and I shared with my dad. He had a Super Beetle, back in the late 70's, and he loved it - had it customized with lots of crank hours, and upgrades. What a tribute to all car enthusiasts! You guys rock! Singapore really shows how much you're loved. Keep it up! - Go Mighy Car Mods!
I'm really glad you guys did this video, and I'm really glad I watched it. The Miss Daisy feature felt a lot less personal than your usual content and this helped bring your personalities back into it. This has been radically different from what you're used to so although it's not quite my favorite I'm super glad you went through the journey to see what it'd be like. Can't wait for what comes next for you!
Definitely a welcome change from the "norm" : ) Always good to see your interaction and interest to what the viewers have to say. Stoked for you to have had such a response to the Beetle and the video : ) And the Beetle fits because it's now extremely mmaaaaaaddddd !!! Looking forward to the future : )
In a world full of weirdness and tragedy (European refugee crisis etc), I am so thankful to these guys for offering a spiritual balm. Love Love to and from MCM!
It's nice to see Moog in these newer videos. He seems to be a lot more collected. It was funny when he was there for more or less comic relief but its really nice to see see that he is making jokes when it's appropriate and then being serious when he needs to be. I'm sure this is how he always has been but at least he's showing it in the videos. Great work on all your videos guys keep it up!
Awesome. Appreciate a more honest and indepth video about the car. The original video made it seem 'easy', which what you're doing very clearly is not - even though you're surrounded by guys performing miracles to get mods done quickly and right the first time. Just seeing the challenges in building super gramps brought the videos of that build to life and gave it a more human touch.
On the topic of taking a bunch of footage and cutting down, i personally really enjoyed the multi video series of Supergramps, as well as the video that i cant remember the name of, where you decided to cut very little footage and kept it as raw as possible. My point being that i prefer the raw/uncut video style that youve done before. Regardless of alll that enjoy every single one of your videos and you guys have what is easily my favorite youtube channel hands down. Keep it up!
Chris Freeman As an engineering oriented car guy, come to think of it, I should probably be using kW, as it's the true scientific measurement of energy, instead of measuring my engine with magical ponies.
+TheSkidKid Apparently it's part of the metric system which is weird because we use the metric system in Canada yet we refer to engine output in HP not KW.
+shitfaced1337 That's not even what HP means. It's the amount of power required to move 75 KG one meter in one second. Or torque X RPM / 5252. How that's magical ponies, I don't know...
I loved the video. I have a chopped top 65 that will be getting the Subarugears equipped Subaru 5speed and a turbocharged EJ257. In the video I love your cooling setup, and I would absolutely love to see more details of it. I don't want to cut holes into the front of my car and the solution you guys came up with was pure genius! Please, post more of the footage that didn't make the cut!
I like how you guys shrug off peoples ignorance...good shit guys! Please keep up the GREAT work. Thank you for the hours and hours of free entertainment.
+Underpantsniper I saw the Space Needle and I was like, "Fuck yeah!". Here it is: www.zumiez.com/casual-industrees-umbrella-rain-camo-royal-blue-tee-shirt.html
There are very few countries that use HP vs Kw. Thing is, though, most of the legendary auto production countries use HP (Germany, Italy, UK, most other European countries and the US). Even so, as a measure of power inside the country, sure, but not when communicating it to the automotive world. That is what I meant. PS literally translates to Horsepower.
***** It is, however, still HP. So similar, infact, that it is nearly identical almost down to the hundredth. For perspective, 500 American hp is 507 German hp (PS). A difference of 14hp to the 1000th hp is negligible and a very, very different number than the otherwise equivalent kW number (1000hp = 1014 PS = 746 kW). German PS might be mesures very slightly differently, but it is, very literally, still hp.
+Carlitos Ramos Most countries now use the SI unit watt for measurement of power. With the implementation of the EU Directive 80/181/EEC on January 1, 2010, the use of horsepower in the EU is permitted only as a supplementary unit.
I feel so honored to be the first comment. All of my hard work and dedication has paid off. Getting the first comment has been a dream of mine for many years, and I would like to thank those who have helped me along the way. First and foremost i would like to thank god for giving me this opportunity. Next i would like to thank my parents. I want to thank my friend Peter Griffin for being really skinny and always there for me. I would also like to thank my pet tadpole for surviving against all odds for over a week. Next i would like to thank the squirrel that lives in my backyard for climbing trees because that gives me inspiration that i need to get through the day. This is a special moment in my life and i would like to thank any of my unmentioned friends and family that have helped me along the way. This moment will be a moment that I will never forget. I just remembered a few other people i would like to thank; Abraham Lincoln, the fish I caught in the third grade, my light in my room because i wouldn’t be able to see the keyboard without it, the internet for letting me go on the bodybuilding forums, my house because without it i would be homeless, and last but not least i would like to thank all the people out there that actually took time out of their day to read this. I cannot stress how much of a big deal to me this is. I have been trying to be the first on a post for years, but that has not been possible until this amazing day. Hopefully my good luck will continue, but this is undoubtedly a rare occasion. If you asked me how I did this, I would say, you can achieve anything u set your mind on. To all the kids out there reading this, I would like to tell them to follow their dreams. Being the first is truly amazing, thank you everyone

moog and marty... yall are great I especially like when moog is always ending sentences with "martin" " where are we Martin", " look at this Martin"....ect and your accents are awesome I dig this channel
+mightycarmods you guys are a class act!!! With THAT being said, you didn't need to explain what's obvious from the sleepRbug that was said a trillion times during the build.."build a sleeper bug and make 10 times the power " you've achieved. I really don't care about the details just good watching and fun while watching. I enjoy the laughter while building and conversational interlude between cast and wrenching:) kudos. Keep me on my ass:) thanks
Awesome! :D! I want to thank you guys for being such a great team and always keeping RUclipsrs interested on your material. I have follow you for about two years and i find it exiting to see how far you have made it. Keep up the great work and best of lucks.
They sold the shell and maybe kept the engine in case you were wondering It's been bought and will have a nother subaru engine put in by a new loving owner - quick google search and you can find the forum website with this topic
Im guessing that most of the people here would not mind if you made a series of the footage you have taken of the build, kind of like the "how to turbo" series with the mx5. (the main viedo is like the short version). it would be a great "Filler" for when you're not able to record/do stuff on other cars. And would get you some extra income so you can do more maaad mods! :D Just my 2 cents, love your work guys, the production value and quality is just amazing!
+mightycarmods you guys are a class act!!! I would love a series where you drag race different cars with different acceleration, hp (kw), torque, and top speed. I would enjoy the hell out of that.
I got confused about the transmission. I thought you just used the stock one. My buddy thought the same thing. He said to me the next day: "whaaat, you don't believe how much power the stock beetle transmission can handle!" (but in dutch). So, thank you for clearing that out.
Great show guys! Transmission and gearbox are different things :) Horse Power geeks will either be as old as your Beetle or from USA! Would love to see the Beetle race a modern vehicle with similar power like a BF II XR6 Falcon. I think they were 260kw stock, not sure if its at the wheels though. Maybe you could do a clip on wheel Kw vs engine Kw? Loved the show anyways!!!
The Watt is the measurement unit for power in the International System, same as the metre for a length or the second for time. HP, Horsepower is the old fashion way, obviously the equivalent of what a horse could pull, that is still used in most countries, in France they use CV (cheval vapeur) which is kind of the same value but is based on the equivalent of a angry horse riding a steam engine or something like that. It will end up in lasagne anyway.
Both NZ and oz changed to metric starting from 1967. While the US still uses HP and lbs/ft torque downunder uses kw and nm. However Marty n Moog bloody awsome job on miss daisy cant help thinking an extra cog would help.
The tax on cars in Denmark is ridiculous 180% , that means people like me can't do the things that you guys do. So thanks for doing what you are doing!
keep up the great work guys, i always look forward to seeing the new cars/videos and to watch you guys grow as video editors and producers. also thanks for the quick math conversions for us to lazy to do them ourselves
One thing I will say, though I appreciate that it is a challenge to get 50 hours down to 40 minutes, I come to youtube to watch Mighty Car Mods because they can be long, technical and not confined to the TV hour episodes. I understand why, but I do wish it had been made in to a series in-keeping I believe with watch the majority of the fans want, and what youtube is about.
Awesome video as ever, as i myself was one of the guys who wanted a more in debt view of the car i still was blown away by the production and it was also pretty cool to watch the epidode entirely as i was in a maaad rush and had just enough time to watch it and go tell all my mates at the SuperMacs drivetru all about it ha,✌
Hope to see daisy getting a better clutch, suspension and possibly brakes in the future. Would love to see some track times on full power and possibly some footage from the driver training center.
that was AWESOME work. I often dream of having a retromod karmann ghia set up with subaru powertrain but for road racing. Lets see...Send stock car to studs in Australia...take Factory Five Racing's approach to using the motor and tranny for their 818 (no VW trans), roll cage, fender flares for large race tires, aftermarket suspension and steering and then run that beast on Bathurst Race Track. That sounds like my kind of Australian vacation.
So half these questions people could of answered themselves if they had bothered to check the video description and actually watch the video........ Well done.
+Brandon P The mini is just so different though, the engine sits on top of the gearbox, no other car I know of does this, like sharing the oil too, would be interesting but not very applicable to other cars. I just can't wait to start building my own :)
I grew up playing vidya so I am used to HP figures, mixed with Kg's and Nm, so its very hard to talk to Aussie and other gearheads as well... Well at least we understand that a car is either fast or slow, looks good or not. Mad enough. We also need a full power run in the beetle. Jus sayin'
Lachee Brun I did not say I could not do that. In fact it is what I end up doing 85% of the time. I merely was referring to what I am used to. Nice how you went out of your way to point the obvious thing that everyone does anyway. And to clarify, I mean when someone goes 400kW, I have no idea how to measure that off the bat, unless I convert it to HP first. Then again I am starting to get used to both.
kw to hp really isn't that hard. 200hp = 147kw, 300 = 224, 500 = 373. From those you can more or less guesstimate how much power a car has. It's the torque ratings that are a pain, nm vs ft-lb or kg/cm or whatever the hell.
You mentioned you tinkered with the suspension but do you have plans to upgrade it in the future. It would be mad with a nice suspension set-up. Just wanted to say as well that I'm a huge fan. I've been following you guys all the way from Puerto Rico and the US and I love what you guys do!
So are you guys going to do a video series of an engine rebuild for another car? Because i think many people, or maybe it's just me, wanted to see the footage of you guys building the engine and explaining all of the things that go into it and what to do. Cause i've been want to rebuild the engine for my car and having a vid from you guys to look at for advice and stuff would be mad awesome.
My Regards from Bariloche ARGENTINA. I´m a big fan... Love the passion, music and great sense of humor... I currently drive a 99´JEEP Grand Cherokee V8 5,2 , with quite some mods... (bigger inyectors, Cold Air In Take,) MSD etc etc... so Im quite away from the Drag race, but loving the cutomize my ride for what a want the is to travel and to to offroading. Best Wishes, Nacho (yeah... like the cheese) PD: Question... How do your girl friends/wife lives with this passion you yours???
one question I had is what did you have to do with the steering components?. I had a beetle that I put a race cam in, as well as put larger pistons in to go from 1600 to 1700cc, so nothing crazy, however, whenever I would get above 70mph it was a bit hard to control, so I'm sure you had to do something
hey guys thanks for answering my 3 questions brake suspension gearbox. can't weight to see chop so more cars after u get the pressure plate sorted on the clutch. and tune it up some more. MORE POWERADE Haha😆
Loved this video. I did want to see a little more detail. Would have loved to see it 1.5 hours long or so. That said, it is nice to get variety in your videos. I am always looking forward to what you guys do next. You definitely do not stick with what the popular thing do do would be. i.e.: build up some R34 skyline or something.. I love it.
You should have just uploaded the whole 50 hour footage of daisy lol. I don't think anyone would complain or get bored
+Japakawa Do you know how long that would have taken to upload?
+Sentinalh they could do 1-2 hour videos a video or every other day
+Sentinalh it would easy take 20mins
+Sentinalh Does it matter...? Its not like you have to sit there and watch it upload.
+g4rr377 yea no
Guys its so nice to see a car build that isnt a chevy LS motor, keep up the good work!!!

Definitely a welcome change from the "norm" : ) Always good to see your interaction and interest to what the viewers have to say. Its funny because Im aussie and all my life, ive been using HP and I have trouble using KW. Just what I was raised with maybe idk.
Yeah I go on HP too, kW just confuses me
Chris Freeman As an engineering oriented car guy, come to think of it, I should probably be using kW, as it's the true scientific measurement of energy, instead of measuring my engine with magical ponies.
+TheSkidKid Apparently it's part of the metric system which is weird because we use the metric system in Canada yet we refer to engine output in HP not KW.

Wish you guys would bring this car back. This is the video that got me to your channel.
Marty, I dig your Seattle Skyline tshirt, crazy to see someone on the other side of the world repping the city I live in!
Stay cool brother!
I like how you guys shrug off peoples ignorance...good shit guys! Please keep up the GREAT work. Thank you for the hours and hours of free entertainment.
Its the most popular video you ever did because you just made the VAG folks happy. You finally did a lagit VeeDub guys! Congrats ;-D

Awesome to see you guys just kicking it! Without all the cut scenes and licking parts! LOL!
Sweet! Refreshed the page and there was a new video! Awesome work as usual guys!
Pretty sweet cars guys!! Great work! It'd be incredible to see miss daisy at 100% power, seems scary enough at 50%!
+mcmtv2 Marty's left brake light is out. You see it in that shot at the end... might want to get that fixed! Great video guys, loved the build.

Love Australia, one helo from Brazil...
Love the Casual Industries shirt Marty!
Nice Seattle shirt Marty! Would love to see you guys come visit the Rainy city.
That Seattle shirt Marty is wearing!!!!
MCM is the best show ever!!!!
Can you please do a whole series on rebuilding/forging an engine in detail? :D
+kongchampion That Mini of Moogs, it would love something like that!
+Brandon P The mini is just so different though, the engine sits on top of the gearbox, no other car I know of does this, like sharing the oil too, would be interesting but not very applicable to other cars. I just can't wait to start building my own :)
+Emily1963eh Saab 99 and 900 put the engine on the gearbox (the transmission case IS the oil pan, but the oils are not shared)
+aerosaaber yup. My brother's blown up his 900's trans twice now I think. That third gear does not like wheelspin. Or torque. His car has both, lol.
i loved the whole 1 video idea!!!! "please sir i would like some more"
Honestly I was more concerned about the stock(?) transmission handling the mad power.
7:53 your brake light is out :)
defected lol
+Burgerr Noticed that too :D
+Burgerr I hate seeing cars with dead tail lights, it bugs my OCD like crazy! haha
+Brandon P You must hate the really old cars with only one tail light.
edguiterrez Nah, only if a car has 2 and only ones working.. im weird, i know
What's gonna happen with it?! I'd love to see more of it!
Movie Skills + Been watching you guys since the start! LOVE YOUR WORK! KEEP IT UP!
Total legends.
great job on the bug guys. keep it up!
I'm digging that shirt! Seattle FTW!
I'd love to see the rebuild process of the EJ25. Would be great considering that I'd like to rebuild one myself in the future.
In France we use metric, even using N.m for torque, but we use horsepower for power. Generally power is also specified in kW though
I grew up playing vidya so I am used to HP figures, mixed with Kg's and Nm, so its very hard to talk to Aussie and other gearheads as well... Well at least we understand that a car is either fast or slow, looks good or not. Mad enough.
We also need a full power run in the beetle. Jus sayin'
+Muamin “Cloud” Hugsy Takes 5 seconds to google it...eg 380 hp in kw...
+Muamin “Cloud” Hugsy kw= 1.34*hp
kw to hp really isn't that hard. 200hp = 147kw, 300 = 224, 500 = 373.
From those you can more or less guesstimate how much power a car has. It's the torque ratings that are a pain, nm vs ft-lb or kg/cm or whatever the hell.
You guys are awesome, would love to see you guys get with Roadkill for a collaboration.
Awesome builds guys!
You guys are awesome. I've learned so much from you guys. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Thanks for answering all the questions, much appreciated!
it's was a good episode, don't worry about defending the car
i love your shirt, marty, it makes me happy to see you repping mob city
You mentioned you tinkered with the suspension but do you have plans to upgrade it in the future. It would be mad with a nice suspension set-up. Just wanted to say as well that I'm a huge fan. I've been following you guys all the way from Puerto Rico and the US and I love what you guys do!
You should do a video with more technical details about building an engine and the pros and cons of forged internals.
Love the Seattle shirt. WASHINGTON!!!!
Thanks for the video guys. Well done with the car
thank you for being educational and entertaining , stay true stay hood
Man.. I thought you guys were in good graces with the people at that strip. Where'd all the love go?
What drone did you guys use for the overhead shots?
+PKKShadow It's actually Turbo Yoda levitating with a camera.
+PKKShadow I believe Marty has a DJI Phantom 2
+PKKShadow it was the AAAA AAAAAA electric space wizard!
You wish mate^
+PKKShadow The only drone for aerial photography, DJI Phantom ;)
For some reason here in the UK we use hp & lb.ft, in Germany they use PS & Nm. I wish we'd all use metric though.
Best Wishes, Nacho (yeah... like the cheese)
PD: Question... How do your girl friends/wife lives with this passion you yours???
one question I had is what did you have to do with the steering components?. I had a beetle that I put a race cam in, as well as put larger pistons in to go from 1600 to 1700cc, so nothing crazy, however, whenever I would get above 70mph it was a bit hard to control, so I'm sure you had to do something
fukkn love it. this beetle is the beast ive always been a Subaru man and seeing this makes me want one
hey guys thanks for answering my 3 questions brake suspension gearbox.
can't weight to see chop so more cars after u get the pressure plate sorted on the clutch. and tune it up some more. MORE POWERADE Haha😆
loved the 1 longer video.
I love it.
