Couldnt agree more Carcaine, specially after they announced leaving RUclips and going to a pay or wait (8 weeks) model. Too bad... loved me some HRG et all. But MCM and Skid Factory make up for everything!
Worst thing is thought fuck it I'll pay for the subscription, only problem is can't get the app in Australia so even if you won't to pay for the content you can't get it
tbf youtube's ad revenue is tanking. I've been subbed there for a while and barely notice the $10/month leaving my account. But shit like this never works. A lot of my favorite channels basically killed themselves off this way. Sad day for sure.
25 bucks a year you cheap fucks. You know how much it costs to have professional crew record the show, edit it, publish, blah blah... You know how much transport and logistics cost? For the crew and cars. Paychecks for all those people? You know how much it costs to throw expensive aftermarket parts at junk cars for your entertainment? How much fuel they chug? Registrations, insurance, various permits, licences... I barely scratched the surface. 25,00 USD for a YEAR of quality content, you stingy bastards.
I just have to say Turbo Yoda, you've become such a good host and presenter! I still remember the early days of MCM where you seemed a bit shy on camera, and it's awesome to see how far you've come! Cheers from Ontario Canada!
Another Canadian chiming in, same sentiments as above from New Westminster British Columbia. Always a good day when we get a Skid Factory vid. Keep it up!
"So we spend the last hour just moving the engine around", it is so refreshing with a car show where it shouldn't be finished yesterday and you get to see the amount of tedious work it requires to do a proper job. I'm going to enjoy this build even more than the last two!
Love your stuff. Plenty of tech detail and none of the bullshit "drama" so prevalent in our stateside car shows. Used to enjoy wheeler dealers when Ed China was turning wrenches, and I think Al is even more clever and multi-talented. I can even still translate Aussie to Yank having lived in Woomera as a US GI for three years in the seventies and again as an aerospace engineer in the nineties. Enjoyed every minute of it even when we had three hundred miles of dirt twixt us and Adelaide...coming back down under for a visit to celebrate my 80th this year and hope to see some of your gear on the road up there in banana land.
Woomera in the 70's would have been cool, bit dead in the 90's but still gave me somewhere to escape to on my days off from 80k up the road. Which way did you go to get 300 mile of dirt to Adelaide? 120 to the 'guta makes sense. must have been early 70's. Still remember all the cool US cars floating around at the Eldo, and being able to bowl for hours for bugger all cash... $1 a game!
I love how you guys just get straight into it instead of saying "alright this what we are gunna do.....in the next episode, see what happens next week with the car". But you guys say "alright this is what we are gunna do, this is the plan, lets do it now." And myself and im sure other people like that too. Thanks Guys.
Woody and Al this is top shelf stuff. Love the show keep up the great work. I really love that you're using different music to MCM to denote a different show and feel, it adds to the awesomeness. DJB@RSLC
25LQW yeah, but it's still different. It's changed a lot from the first episodes which had the original MCM soundtrack, as it was requested by about four million people. It's way better now.
Absolutely love how you tackle issues and problems by saying "it's really no big deal" and down playing big changes where most mechanics would make it seem like the end of the world.
Out of all builds going on on yt right now -this is probably the best one (aside from project binky) the rest of the guys just screw three bolts in and call it an episode. Cheers mates!
Let's be honest there won't be a cooler build than Binky for a long long time, two guys in a shed making a monster, sadly that is why it is taking ages to do
Lol “I V4P3” plates. LS the world!!! Such a great thing to have a show with no scripting and to hear the years of experience and knowledge that Al and the team have. Fabricators not actors!!!
LSes are nice, as far as they go, and have lots of positive aspects, one of the foremost being cost. But many (admittedly much more expensive) engines are far superior. LS the world if you're on a budget. If you have $$$, go a better route.
That Subaru plate mask is priceless. Many a man child tuned out when you said VQ was better than RB. A matter of meeting your legends versus leaving them on the poster on the wall.
One 26minute episode and a LS engine and gear box is mounted, new steering rack, sump modded and custom mounts, now that's efficient work by pros. Non of that 4-5episodes to get to this point crap other people do.
Good on you guys for showing the VG30 some love. It's by far the most underrated engine out there for tuning, and a real shame more people don't tune them up.
geepuller1 hell yeah because it takes knowledge and skill to make something that will stand up to being a daily driver or last a couple of race seasons rather then just make it work
Eh, no, whenever MCM gets their fluff on (specifically because they have jobs, and it takes time to edit content and film it) they are up there. I like both equally. I just understand why it takes the amount of time it takes. Certainly better than the trash on some 'other' channels, who have stupid amounts of money at their disposal and manage to achieve nothing in a single episode.
Eric Eichler career mechanics, of course they are going to better mechanics than us... want to take a guess at who helps them with production on a weekly basis? Kinda how they help us with mechanical stuff on a weekly basis? It’s a win win, so enough with one better than the other. They compliment.
Oh man, awesome project. I had flashbacks of those spot welds being drilled! I bought an 87 BMW shell to house my 1UZ and it had a "little" rust. Driver side frame was f'd! Since it was my first project i thought the effort put in learning and repairing it would benefit me so there i went, spent 2 days drilling out that shit on a donor 1/4 car and on mine and welding the new piece in. I really did shiver a bit. Great work guys, always a blast to watch. Learn so much.
Please don’t stop speaking your mind of engines Al. Speaking for myself but presumably for a lot of people in that I value your opinion greatly! It’s one of the best parts is hearing your impression through experience. Curious why the RB doesn’t make the list.
Debatable... very debatable. He's building a race car and the LS1 in a 32 chassis will make good power relatively light weight. the 32 chassis can handle pretty bloody well. 240's are great old cars and if it's well done will also eat up the track.
I stopped watching main channel a while ago. Heavily sponsored content where they rush through a build full of expensive parts then take it to the drags (beetle, Ford Focus) is a an epic yawn compared to gems like the 1jz sleeper or the show car build.
Al is a genius because he figured out a long time ago what he's good at and since then his life has been learn more about that topic, Dana white said the same thing life is easy when you know what you want.
I like mcm for the simple stuff that I could (probably) do myself, mixed with the way they present it. and I like skid factory for the technical things, and the way it's presented and laid out.
Yeah... this is some next level stuff. Here in the states this build is pretty much the granddaddy of all unicorns. TT LS1 Skyline. Stuff dreams are made of.

Skid Factory is professional mechanics doing professional level jobs that require that sort of background and technical knowledge, and so they're able to share a lot of that "why" and "how" with the audience that you don't get if the goal is just to demonstrate how to bolt on parts and when to take it to a professional for the more technical stuff.
nauthizzz i agree man but i think i worded my comment wrong ay. Im not hanging shit on marty and moog iv been a fan of MCM for years now and I DO enjoy there videos.
I like mcm for the simple stuff that I could (probably) do myself mixed with the way they present it. and I like skid factory for the technical things and the way it's presented and laid out.
Joona Valkonen you can make lots of jam with an LS motor just as much and possibly more, the RB is a great motor but the LS is just smaller lighter also has loads of aftermarket support can be built up na even no boost needed for good torque, both engines have advantages just too many people hate on the LS.
Yes, rb26 is huge for only a 2.6l, crappy fuel milage too. Ls will make more power, lighter, way better fuel mileage. People hate on the lack of overhead cam don't know what roller lifters are, factory valve lift over .500", twice as much valve lift as most overhead cam 4 valve heads, with a shim under bucket valve setup. Liked my RB 26 though.
Joona Valkonen they both are capable engine's but for the same amount of money ls will make more power and say they made the same power the ls is still NA over turbo and NA has better power delivery ect.
A band saw. It faster, cleaner and it doesn't load up with aluminum fly apart and take out an eye. (Except when the band breaks, then you better look out lol)
Stanley Zitello Yeah, but a bandsaw that wide, is veery hard to find. And then you need to turn it, and stuff. Being a daily blacksmith, I would do exactly the same. Easy, fast, precise. :) The dust from aluminum itches a lot, wich is the only bad thing about it. Btw, after years, only one blade has broken on me on a band saw.. Just don't push it, and keep a vague eye on 'em, and you'll be good. And it's not dangerous in any way. It pretty much stays put. Very put. :D
RIP MotorTrend, long live MCM and Skid Factory!
wtf was MotorTrend thinking.
Couldnt agree more Carcaine, specially after they announced leaving RUclips and going to a pay or wait (8 weeks) model. Too bad... loved me some HRG et all. But MCM and Skid Factory make up for everything!

and cheers from Vancouver BC, Canada, Earth, Sol system, Milky Way Galaxy!
I gladly agree
Another Canadian chiming in, same sentiments as above from New Westminster British Columbia. Always a good day when we get a Skid Factory vid. Keep it up!
Yeah he's come a long way from the first skid factory ep.
Cheers from Southern England
prac makes perfect man! every channel is the same watch them progress with their builds!!!
"It's not a GTR.. calm down!" haha love it :D
'Nissans are pretty much lego'
'Used to get these two for a dollar'
Al has awesome descriptions for everything
Holy sh*t, holy sh*t, holy sh*t!!! This series is going to be EPIC!!!
sure is!
"So we spend the last hour just moving the engine around", it is so refreshing with a car show where it shouldn't be finished yesterday and you get to see the amount of tedious work it requires to do a proper job. I'm going to enjoy this build even more than the last two!

i could listen to turbo Yoda explaining things all day every day.
The Skid Factory is definitely the best car show on the Internet.
DJB@RSLC
Darryl John Bosch all the music is still moogs stuff.
The number plate 'I V4P3". Well played Turbo Yoda, well played.
masterofS200 underrated comment
Out of all builds going on on yt right now -this is probably the best one (aside from project binky) the rest of the guys just screw three bolts in and call it an episode. Cheers mates!
Aye.
Let's be honest there won't be a cooler build than Binky for a long long time, two guys in a shed making a monster, sadly that is why it is taking ages to do
check out "b is for build" my guy
Michael Love My thought exactly. Guy’s a legend.
You should check out Gordon Murray's MK1 escort build done by retropower. A bit different than this and project Binky but just as enjoyable.
you guys are destroying the internet with your awesome videos. God Bless Australia
I love that you guys BUILD your stuff instead of buying everything and bolting it together! Turbo Yoda is a genius!
"I V4P3"? Is that a Subaru? 😂
Hiram Méndez haha I picked up on that too!
Hiram Méndez loveeeee it
Looks same as mine! Version 8.
It is 😂
if you THOUGH that was ANOTHING OTHER than an sti you can go shame yourself in a corner
ITS GOT GOLD STI rims what else can it be
The Skid Factory definitely has caught my attention. No washed down content for likes and kids. This is good!
Another awesome project guys. And Turbo Yoda is becoming a great presenter too. This is my new favourite channel
Love your work guys.
As a old mechanic I really appreciate watching good men at work, doing great work.
Lol “I V4P3” plates. LS the world!!! Such a great thing to have a show with no scripting and to hear the years of experience and knowledge that Al and the team have. Fabricators not actors!!!

I have to say I live for these videos now. I love the work you guys do.
This shows has all the right elements to be successful. It is a blast to watch. The only thing is I am left wanting more when it is over.
I really really really love this addition to the mcm2 channel. The build info is awesome!!!
Awesome, and thanks for the blooper at the end. It's an honor and a privilege to be allowed into your shop, THANKS!
One 26minute episode and a LS engine and gear box is mounted, new steering rack, sump modded and custom mounts, now that's efficient work by pros. Non of that 4-5episodes to get to this point crap other people do.
this show is what mcm needed ,one completes the other .
never change guys ,this is just wonderfull, everything mcm .
Any video of the "bit of a mishap" that tanked the first engine?
Carcaine i imagine to much boost or the harmonic balancer shat itself
does that mean he chopped.. himself?
The RB20 was known for poor oil pumps that liked to fail, could of been a possible reason.
Nothing dramatic. Matt took the CAS off and bolted it back on without the front cover and no spacers and it snapped the drive tang in the cam. :D
Alan Butler - freaking ell, is that the man, the legend himself?
Good on you guys for showing the VG30 some love. It's by far the most underrated engine out there for tuning, and a real shame more people don't tune them up.
So nice to watch people the know how to do all the work themselves rather then buy off the shelf parts
Bo Stemaly better than a crate of shiney brand name parts isn't it?
geepuller1 hell yeah because it takes knowledge and skill to make something that will stand up to being a daily driver or last a couple of race seasons rather then just make it work
One of the few series I truly enjoy on RUclips anymore!!!!
I love watching this stuff because you are taking apart cars for fun. I take my cars apart because they can't get me to work! Haha
This is the best car show on the internet!
I actually love your videos guys
This serie is so amazing, so great with wonderful technical insight and high level of craftmanship.
So good. I passed this thing on the highway for years! Such a great car.
The skid factory is getting better and better. I love it
Hello from the US lovin the show!
These guys need more subs, so authentic and easy to watch!
"They're a great engine - better than an RB."
If you listen closely you can pinpoint the exact moment all the fanboy hearts broke in two.
It's true though, RB's don't handle high HP well. The VG30 is honestly a much better engine, as is the 2JZ and the Ford Barra turbo.
mad87645 except that was a VQ30 not a VG30
Excellent as always boys. Super informative. Al's laid back presenting is the best.
This build and the speed academy k24 s14 build got me excited! 🤙🏽
YES YES YES!!!!!! Loving the fab work as usual. Liked the fact that it was a good length video and you guys got straight to the nitty gritty!
Better vids than mcm atm
Nah. Apples and oranges. These guys are pros, literally. MCM has more entertainment factor. Both good shows and serve different purposes.
Eh, no, whenever MCM gets their fluff on (specifically because they have jobs, and it takes time to edit content and film it) they are up there. I like both equally. I just understand why it takes the amount of time it takes.
Certainly better than the trash on some 'other' channels, who have stupid amounts of money at their disposal and manage to achieve nothing in a single episode.
aserta never mentioned that bud. I said atm. At the moment.half of your points arw obvious and have no relevance gtfo
Eric Eichler career mechanics, of course they are going to better mechanics than us... want to take a guess at who helps them with production on a weekly basis? Kinda how they help us with mechanical stuff on a weekly basis? It’s a win win, so enough with one better than the other. They compliment.
Mighty Car Mods wasnt having a dig at you boys. Quiet period for you. Love you both🙁
These just keep getting better and better
That casting welds really nice.
Another cracking series coming up. Props to you Al. It’s clear you don’t enjoy being on camera much but you hold up really well mate so big ups man
"You have to be patient" should be sampled and used as an outro to every episode.
Skid Factory will lead the charge of the new wave of free RUclips car shows. "Customer" funded content. Real builds.
i can’t press the like button more than once!!!
James Robinson make more accounts
Yes you can.
Oh man, awesome project. I had flashbacks of those spot welds being drilled! I bought an 87 BMW shell to house my 1UZ and it had a "little" rust. Driver side frame was f'd! Great work guys, always a blast to watch. Learn so much.
THIS IS THE MOST INTERNET, AMAZING, BEST, SICKEST THING IN A WHILE
Great works lads. This is legitimately the first LS swap I'm even remotely interested in. Loving the channel too. Lots of variety and backyard skills.
It's better to spend money in a turbo than other stuff - Turbo Yoda
yep i agree, yoda you've become awesome at this, so blunt and straight to it its refreshing, keep it up bro!
Love me some "Flange"
Leroy Baker Yup, my favourite sort of flange.
Can I say how much I enjoyed the background/segment music in this video - great choice guys!
The plate on the WRX is AWSOME!!!
Seeing that engine go in for the first time. So satisfying.
Yessssss
Thanks guys for all the hard work. Always wanted a 4door and a ls build.
I love how us Aussies say 'Gee Dee Arr' rather than Gee Tee Arr"
Good ol GDR
Zan tee ? 🤔
or how Americans say Neeeeessaaaaan, instead of nISSan.
murry001 you mean the correct way?
I think this will be my fav Skid Factory Build. Y'all are great keep up the good wizardry
I can hear the purists crying, and I can hear Mr Regular stating "It's... Just... A... CAR!". Love the videos guys, keep it up.
This is my new favorite YT channel, top notch builds every time
Will it fit in my Honda?
Scott Paul yes..... Yes it will lol.
Scott Paul everything fits in a honda lol
Scott Paul if it doesnt get an angle grinder make it fit
Yes, I have an LS3 S2000.
Please don’t stop speaking your mind of engines Al. Speaking for myself but presumably for a lot of people in that I value your opinion greatly! It’s one of the best parts is hearing your impression through experience. Curious why the RB doesn’t make the list.
MCM: fast car vs slow car
Skid Factory: R32 LS1 turbo swap
I think I know which one I’drather watch
Jordan P I’d probly watch both
MCM with the cheeky reply, worth watching the JDM mira get chopped i reckon
RB26 240Z>LS1 R32
Debatable... very debatable. He's building a race car and the LS1 in a 32 chassis will make good power relatively light weight. the 32 chassis can handle pretty bloody well. 240's are great old cars and if it's well done will also eat up the track.
I didn't even know this was a thing!
I'm going to binge watch all the old videos! Keep an coming Mechanical Stig & Turbo Yoda
Cause he's the tuurbo yoda
Love how quickly these are coming along!
MFW MCMTV2 has been better than MCM for months.
WRXBase for sure👍👍👍👍👍👍
This. Unsubbed from the main channel and now it's just this for me
Yeah this dosen't have the kids show/pimp your ride vibe thank fuck!
2 true unfortunately, hopefully the MCM boys can get back on track.
I stopped watching main channel a while ago. Heavily sponsored content where they rush through a build full of expensive parts then take it to the drags (beetle, Ford Focus) is a an epic yawn compared to gems like the 1jz sleeper or the show car build.
Loving the volume of content you guys are putting out at the moment and really enjoying the depth you go into in each build!
FUCK.YES.
In America, Drinking Black Coffee, Eating Unfrosted Poptarts and watching Skid Factory at 11pm. This is as good as it gets.
"Barra" conversion next time?
No
Barra the world
Nah, they've done the cresta allready
Ok.
you know the Cresta!?
Best project car channel by far
Did anyone else notice the "I V4P3" Plate for the Subie? hahaha
Al is a genius because he figured out a long time ago what he's good at and since then his life has been learn more about that topic, Dana white said the same thing life is easy when you know what you want.
This is better than mcm
Rudpavv Rudpavv fuq u
no u
I like mcm for the simple stuff that I could (probably) do myself, mixed with the way they present it.
and I like skid factory for the technical things, and the way it's presented and laid out.
Swaping and modifying RB26 to fit 240z is not really a thing you and i can do at home
Rudpavv Rudpavv I see your point, but If you spent some time and had the proper tools you could.
Best show on youtube hands down
I'll just look at my phone before I go to sleep at 1am annnndddd skid factory shittt I'm staying awake another half hour.
best series on youtube in a while, please invest in this mcm and make it even bigger and better!
WHAAAAAAAAAT
Yeah... this is some next level stuff. Here in the states this build is pretty much the granddaddy of all unicorns. TT LS1 Skyline. Stuff dreams are made of.
Cant beleive im saying this but Skid Factory is a whole lot better than MCM. Theres more information its way more technical.

Turbo Yoda is king, Matt’s welding skills are maaaad!
"Skylines arn't special" (RCR 2018)
This is the best thing on youtube by far
Even if it was a gtr the LS makes more stock jam and it's lighter then an rb26dett, flame me.
hussguy1990 right but you can make over 600hp from stock internal rb26
Joona Valkonen you can make lots of jam with an LS motor just as much and possibly more, the RB is a great motor but the LS is just smaller lighter also has loads of aftermarket support can be built up na even no boost needed for good torque, both engines have advantages just too many people hate on the LS.
hussguy1990 i dont get why people hate ls so much. its awesome engine

best explanation ive ever heard for twin turbos
Kids in Africa could've eaten that steering rack
The whole production is brilliant ! amazing stuff guys Keep it up by far the most enjoyable build series i've watched so far !
On a long enough timeline everything get an LS swap
one of the most important rule to the concept of infinity
but not my car & van thank you
great video. the jedi master of turbo's has struck gold again.
Metal fab wizard... uses a cut off wheel to cut aluminum.
Highstranger951
Yeah? What would you use, and why?
More of a controlled melt of aluminium
A band saw.
It faster, cleaner and it doesn't load up with aluminum fly apart and take out an eye. (Except when the band breaks, then you better look out lol)
Al likely doesn't have a bandsaw at his shop or I'm sure he would..

Looking forward to seeing how this new project goes. Fantastic channel. Look forward to every new episode. Keep up the good work.
Best show on RUclips
These projects just keep getting sweeter.
