Alice In Wonderland Scenes With And Without Special Effects

- Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass are two of the most visually stunning Disney live-action movies. Most of what you see on screen was accomplished with green screen and VFX to create cgi scenes. They implemented a ton of groundbreaking visual and special effects that still hold up today. But have you ever wondered what these movies would look like if you stripped away all those effects? What do these movies look like without cgi? We’re gonna take a look behind the curtain, and show you what you can’t see when watching these movies on Disney Plus.
When watching Alice in Wonderland, you may not think twice about what you are seeing on screen. But some scenes will surprise you with how much CGI was implemented. Even some of the characters were completely CG, while others were a hybrid between live action and CG. It will also surprise you to find out how they filmed these scenes. Sometimes they had stand in’s for CG characters, and other times the actors were reacting to nothing but empty green screens. And for some scenes you might assume everything was done with CGI, when in reality there were giant props on set that the actors interacted with. It’s a complex process that can bring to life some truly stunning visuals, and knowing what the behind the scenes looked like will make you appreciate the VFX work even more.
Did you have any idea how they created the vast landscapes while you were watching the movies? Which special effect surprised you the most?

It's incredible what technology can do.
And this movie is 11 years old too.
@@billieeilish1705 that's why technology is really incredible. It can do anything
@@billieeilish1705 uhm... If we're gonna weigh the advantages and harms that technology cause us, I would say technology is really beneficial
@@billieeilish1705 and wdym all lie?
The 2nd time I’ve not seen you on a wwe video 1st was on a Anna oop video
The fact that there was no set apart from green screen just shows exactly how fantastic these actors and actresses are. It takes a lot of talent to only have a script, a costume and your imagination
ya, but magic shows are illusions as well.. Movie studios use must more green/blue screens..
Kinda turns the who movie industry on its head at just how 'great' these firms are 'not' when the only thing that's actually real IS the actor. Walt Disney, you can get away with more because we all knew that was 'magic' anyway, but beside that.
@@Tech-geeky completely agree
As someone who studies art, I think props had to be given to the cgi artist as well, making those motions and details are nightmares.
These actors will just be cgi soon.
Not talent skill these actors worked there a$$e$ off for this its not talent its skill to learn that
Two years to create the rusting effect in the second movie?? No wonder it's a great movie, both movies were just too well done
Dude... I think it's average numbers for how long it usually took. A year or more.
Look at Avatar, a decade. XD
I thought you said ‘rustling effect of the dress’
Idk man
@@MarshaNPILoveCanada avatar took so long because the director was waiting for the movie industries technology to advance so it could become revolutionary such as the first. Otherwise it would have came out a long time ago.
1.crazy editing
2.amazing acting and imagine that they had to act like half of the things in the movie were real..
3.great concept
lol.... the giant head is the thing.
qnqnq
"None of this is real, it's all in my head..." When you realize how little acting does it take to say this with conviction xD
the best part is: we all believe it and PAY to see what isn't real...
(...kinda a waste when I say it) lol.
It is the wonderland magic ^^
@@Tech-geeky It's called escapism.
Over the decade we've had an annoyingly overuse of CGI, but this movie is a perfect example of how to use it. I love it so much!
Mia Washecowsky deserves an Oscar for amazing acting against nothing. Impressive 🙏
Actually, her name is Mia Wasikowska
Sure, it took everything she got to express the same emotion again and again
The film praises for wonderful visual experience and special effects, the beautiful 3D detail designed in each scene.Viewers was persuaded themselves by new levels of sensory detail, the effectiveness derives from the combination of CG and physical effects.
For all these actors it’s like watching the movie for the first time yourself in theatres! It would be such a cool experience seeing what they created vs. what you were imagining when you filmed it
The rust scene of the Looking Glass was my most favourite part of the movie. It's just so cool seeing the rust spread across the dimension. Kudos to the artists behind that very long process.
Even as someone who doesn't really like this movie, I must admit that it does look amazing, and these effects all the way from 2009 are impressive as all hell
Can you imagine just swaying a sword around pretending to slay a jabberwoky with nothing there but green screen?
We all did something similar as kids. Except there was no green screen, or sword
Imagination😬
Wonderland💖
I had no idea what a shame these movies are far more beautiful than they deserve credit for.
It's legitimately the ugliest studio release I've ever seen. Desaturated CG vomit.
@@glassplotful how so
Ah this movie was so great 😍
They did a really great job on it
This movie was super good
These movies are such a testimony to the incredible talent of the editors and the actors
Post production is a monumental work
I love this movie! The actors did so well!
This movie's Oscar for Best Costume is very deserved. Loved how Alice's dress evolved with her throughout the film!
this makes me appreciate the acting even more
I love this movie so much
"Greenscreen fatsuit" now thats a sentence i've never heard of.
Out of all the modern remakes of classic disney movies, I think these are the best
it must be difficult to perform such scenes with no interaction at all, only a green room, very good.
They need to make another one so bad it’s my favorite movie
All those years ago and the CGI was still way better than She-Hulk
This movie had an amazing creative imagination extraordinary dedicated passionate team working to create Wonderland
this kind of breakdown/bts makes me appreciate the amount of money i spent to see this in cinema
Tbh this makes me love these movies even more
I like how they made the Queen’s dress a lil big so it looked better when they blew up the her head
It is extremely crazy this movie came out 12 years ago
Amazing CGI 👏🏻
A part of audiences are dissatisfied with the performance of actors, and they think the three-dimensional effect is not as real as Avatar and Pandora.
Thats really funny
As to more of a reason to enjoy such an interesting movie. Is one of my fav childhood movies 😍😍
Can you imagine what amazing solutions the may have come up with if they had done practical effects
An actual good live action remake
Everyone always seems to hate these movies.... But it clearly wasn't a flop if Disney made a sequel
I’m a normal person
I see Bellatrix I click
I'm a normal person
I see Snape as a caterpillar I click
It’s the fact that some of the behind the seen is freaking hilarious like 5:40
It is rare to see the red queen without her huge head
nqqnw
Now I want to start acting ngl that's satisfying
That is When the red queen yells:"Off with their heads!"
The rabbit hole fall looks very real and is my favorite scene in the movie.
This is so cool
Now I will watch these movies again lol. Great video!

The red queen always made me laugh
My god whenever I watch this I have to watch it again the next day

This flim is the greatest i ever seen when i was small.

Bom trabalho.
I mean better then recent marvel movies 😂
slaying her sword nothing but air - TheThings
The VFX look good because they don’t look realistic. The vast majority of this would look “terrible” in other movies, but it works because it’s supposed to look stylized. I’m sure Axl’s floating head would’ve been right at home here.
1:01 epic looks epic, you heard it here first.
Director: "How much editing is needed?"
Editors: "yes"
Director: "uhhhhhh anyway how long?"

Que buenos actores, hicieron como si hubiese algo oero realmente no habia nada
Woow 👍👍😁
Once the tech utilizing unreal engine that was used to film the mandalorian goes mainstream, actors and actresses won't have to imagine their environment in movies like these anymore.
2years to get created WOW lat y it soooooo good😃😃😃😃😃
Hitting the air using her sword
awesome 😍

4:17 Never saw that scene without the effect.

The red Queens head looks so weird as little.
This whole time I didn’t know Steve zahn had an entire cg suit!
Seeing the queen with a small head looks like special effects 💀
